I have been going to this dentist for over six years and yet when I went in for a cleaning and let the team know I had a pain in my tooth, they did nothing other than advise my gums were swollen and that I should invest in a water pick. The pain increased over the next month and after visiting another dentist, I was advised I was in need of a root canal to save the tooth. Unacceptable service in general but to not give more time and effort to a longstanding patient is beyond disappointing. read more

Since the change of the front desk manager, this dentist office is no longer desirable. Walter Cruz (current office manager) is disrespectful and dismissive and should not be operating as a "manager" in any way shape or form. I was last seen in September by Dr. Duarte, and the front desk manager at the time, Martha. Both ladies are amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. During that appointment, they gave me a quote for 3 services that I was interested in doing before the year ends. I still have the copy of that quote, and it is signed and dated. Yesterday I stopped by the office to make an appointment for later this week. Walter lets me know that Martha is no longer there (which he answered in a strange tone when I asked) and he gives me a new quote, more than double the original. I still have the copy I was given in September. Not only is he refusing to honor the original rate, he is refusing to let me speak with his manager or anyone else to get assistance. He was extremely dismissive on the phone, and addressing other residents WHILE I was speaking to him. He is extremely disrespectful, and he is the reason I will no longer be going to this office. To be honest when I first started going here over three years ago it was great! The doctor was great. The staff was great. They were easy to communicate with follow-up. Everything was wonderful. Then it would say maybe a year or two ago everything changed. They didn't have my appointments on schedule. There was no follow-ups. The staff was completely different. My dental hygienist was still very nice but the staff was never the same. I am an attorney and my schedule changes and I've always appreciated that. They've always worked with me with my schedule and I have never even been told there was such a thing as a cancellation fee until today. When I called to try to reschedule my appointment from tomorrow because I had a hearing come up, I was told that I need to pay $75. After explaining to the gentleman who answered the phone that I was in shock, I've been coming here for over 3 years and I've never been charged a cancellation fee. They've always worked with me. He explained that he's looking at my file and he sees that I've never been charged to cancellation fee, but now he's going to charge me. No warnings nothing. This place has been going downhill for the last few years and unfortunately I will no longer be going here anymore. read more

Seems to be on Tuesday and Thursdays when communication is not good. But overall experience was great from the doctors, dental assistants, dental hygienist and front desk. Wonderful experience! I am so happy to be a patient here. Michelle is the office manager and will be your first point of contact and she is so friendly, patient and thorough at explaining things. She will explain everything from insurance to all the procedures/protocols during COVID-19. (For example, they only allow 1 patient in the lobby at a time, they take your temperature when you arrive, etc..) I felt very safe coming here. Last week I had a consultation where I met Dr. Knopf, who is incredible. So personable and kind. She examined my teeth and we made a plan. I got an amazing cleaning from Miriam today. She removed all the stains from my coffee and tea drinking. Such a visible difference. She also made a recommendation to try a different toothpaste to help with stains. I love the fun, modern decor. Made an appointment at this place and after doing my research I found a lot of reasons to cancel my appointment, so I called to cancel. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule and I said no, just cancel. Then they asked may I know why you don't want to reschedule? So I decided to give them the truth, I told them that they're online reviews were terrible, and they asked if I had seen their yelp reviews, and I kinda laughed and I said I've been on Yelp a long time, I can tell when reviews are fake (or coerced), just look at a lot of their glowing reviews, they are from Yelp accounts that often times have just one review or a max of under five. Sounds like they're probably giving them something for the positive feedback. Anyway, after I said that this person seemed like they turned snippy, if you don't want to hear the truth, then don't ask any questions. I saw the pictures of their office, it seems like they spend on marketing and branding, but guess who is paying for all of that?! I'm just looking for an honest dentist that isn't going to gauge me for their vanity project. I went to my last dude for almost 30 years, but he finally had to retire. ***WARNING PLEASE READ*** I visited Tooth Shop LA and Dr. Kimberly Knopf for the first time back in October for a standard cleaning, exam, and x-rays. My previous cleaning/exam was 7 months prior with my previous dentist in Irvine (not a significant amount of time between visits). After x-rays and examination with intraoral camera, Dr. Knopf and team tell me I developed TWELVE CAVITIES....I take great care of my teeth so this was a huge red flag. I let them proceed with the cleaning, and was presented with a suggested "treatment plan" before leaving the office. This treatment plan was over quoted at over $4K and recommended by Dr. Knopf to be completed in two separate sessions because it would require extensive work. I requested a copy of all images and medical records for a second opinion. I took these x-rays and images to my old dentist in Irvine, and the results....ZERO CAVITIES. My dentist said there were areas of "demineralization" - which I assume were the areas Dr. Knopf was referring to. These are areas to be watched not addressed with excessive/unnecessary work. My dentist said if I had come in for standard x-rays/exam she would not have recommended any treatment, aside from a standard cleaning. Toothshop LA claims to be "Redesigning the standard in patient care" - I'm sure they'll spin their response by calling it a preventative/proactive approach to dentistry, but I'll let the DRASTICALLY different diagnosis from two doctors speak for itself. This practice is located within a more affluent part of Downtown Los Angeles (South Park Area). Regardless of whether or not you can afford the care, it never hurts to get a second opinion and trust your gut if something feels off. I would not recommend Toothshop LA or the care of Kimberly Knopf DDS to anyone :) read more
