Curious what all the rave was about so I checked it out! At first glance, it's clean and open casual environment. Simple menu of traditional Korean rice bowls which can be as spicy as you choose. I ordered the bimbop with a side of kimchee (free with Yelp check in) and Thai tea - if you've read my other reviews you know what I think of Thai tea LOL! Now I've had bop in various places across the planet and this bop was ...ok - not great, but ok. For the portion size it was way over priced at $8.99 and upgrading to a large was $3.99 extra?! Seriously?! The large was not that much larger. You wanna pay $14 bucks for good bop go to Korean Garden on Dimond. The tea was over brewed making it too tart and the kimchee was just fresh cut cabbage with kimchee seasonings - that's not kimchee but a spicy cabbage salad. Was excited to see such great rating for a casual setting for some Korean food. Originally, thought the price was quite cheap until I realize the regular size is a small bowl, and the larger size is about $4 more. Given we are tourist and slowly getting used to the cost of food in Alaska, decided to give it a try. Got 4 large takeouts. 1 chicken vege, 1 bulgogi and 2 of that noodle dish. Overall, the taste is ok, except for the chicken. Twice cooked pork is a common dish for a Chinese restaurant and it tastes great if properly prepared. BUT, the way they made the grilled chicken was way over cooked. It's very obvious these are cooked already and they just reheated to make them taste like chicken jersey. It's a shame that they can't do fresh chicken here? The other dishes seemed fine, but this chicken is something they can easily fix. As a small independent biz, I would think they want to maintain the quality to ensure return biz. read more

This last time, he meat in my bulgogi bop was dry and unappetizing, I did not want to finish it. The menu keeps changing. It's frustrating and exhausting to find your favorite dishes keep changing or removed. The menu used to have fun and exciting items but now it's just beef, fish, chicken, or noodle bop. Menu consolidation has forced my beloved Bibim Bop off the menu and to become just a "beef bop" at no reduction in price. Customers will have to pay extra for the items to make it the staple "Bibim Bop". Overall atmosphere is fun and lively. The employees are enthusiastic and cheerful. The sauce for the teryaki bop was terrible. Salty and that's it. A bunch of lettuce and shredded carrots put on top of rice and that was 11$. Now, some people might not mind wasting 11$ at a place like this but I could of spent it somewhere else that had better quality food. Me and my co workers went to this restaurant during lunch and it wasn't busy at all. They offer many soft drink options and bowl sizes for your food. I got the seafood bop bowl and it was awesome! I got the smaller bowl because the large bowl was to big for me. They have chop sticks and chop stick helpers for only $1. There are 2 TVs mounted on the wall and they also deliver. I will be back to try other bowls because I am interested in how they taste. They're friendly and have good customer service and they do reserve the right to refused service to anyone. I dunno what is happening here, but that was awful. I've heard about this place for months. Everyone I know swears by this place. I order delivery. Very excited. I got mushy, chest, sinewy, crap tuna in a bowl. It was bad. So bad. 2 separate pieces with skin still attached. I'm not sure if this is just a seriously bad day for them, or if the whole of Anchorage doesn't know good tuna, but I'm really sad I just wasted $35 on food that we ended up throwing out. Make sure you triple check your order and make sure the DUDE repeats your order to you. Orders from south side and the guy messes up the SIMPLE order of 2 spicy beef bowls TO MAKE ONE OF THEM LARGE. Chicken and as usual some poki. Since the guy repeats my order back to me I happily go and pick up my order as I usually did. Was givin a large pork instead of what I ordered. Called the guy back and he says there nothing I can do about it it is what you ordered sir. BS! Just ate my order. Tempura shrimp and pot stickers were both cold and awful - avoid. I don't even understand how they cooked the shrimp. Got the ahi bop with crab and salmon. It was tolerable, basically just eating raw fish with some rice now and then. The chicken was by far the best but not saying much. Definitely not going again and can only seeing me order if im super desperate for delivery and cant get pizza. Advice for owners - take the seafood items completely off the menu. I am generally not a huge fan of Korean food, but this was a mostly pleasant experience. Top Bop is a nice sized, fast food joint in a shopping center right off Muldoon Rd. The customer service was great - employees were friendly and articulate when explaining the different food options to me (again, a novice with Korean food). The portions were pretty good, but paying $13 for fast food that barely fills me is not what I'm looking for...I should be STUFFED after paying $13 at a fast food place! Another disappointment was that the sauce - even at spicyness "level 6" was hardly noticeable. I used to be very sensitive to spicy foods, but I guess either the sauce isn't very hot, or my palate has changed. Doubt I'll be back, but if so, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. read more

The staff here was super friendly and the the space was clean and comfy. I wasn't that impressed with the food though unfortunately. I decided to go with a pretty simple dish, the chicken teriyaki bowl. I got a bit of "fishy" flavor going on which threw me off. I liked the ratio of rice to meat to veg, but once again, the flavor didn't hit me right. I think I will be back to give it another go..... maybe try the Minnesota shop as well. read more

Relatively new restaurant in town. Really good food. I get the "Top Bop" most of the time. They have the perfect serving size. Just right and reasonably priced. Very polite staff. I've only sat down to eat once- spacious. They open pretty late- 11am. I've forgotten that and arrived too early. It's Korean-Japanese fusion meals. Nice place to have a really good meal. I almost forgot- DO NOT leave without trying there Mac salad. One of the best I've had in my lifetime and THE BEST in Alaska. I promise you. Try the Thai tea as well.
