I only go here for the Poke Bowl. Its doesnt have a authentic poke taste but it does have a korean twist to it. I love Korean food so it doesnt bother me too much. The poke bowl though, is only delicious right when you get it. Saving the rest for later? Not a good choice, the taste changes and does not float my boat. But thats really just my opinion. I havent tried the other bowls, my friends have and they don't really seem to be too thrilled about it but every one has different taste buds right? You can order and pay ahead using their website; I highly recommend this if you're short on time. Almost everything on the menu has a picture and description of what's in each dish. Been here a handful of times over the years during my visits to JBER as it's one of the few affordable Asian eateries. I have to say the food was never that great but it wasn't disgusting until today when I ordered the ahi tuna bowl. :/ I'm from the Bay Area California where ahi tuna and poke is served at sooo many restaurants (fresh and at fair prices). My previous experience with the poke bop wasn't bad; the salmon and tuna wasn't the best but it worked as that bowl is topped with different sauces and toppings to cover up the lack of freshness. The ahi tuna bowl I had today is a different story... barely any seasoning or sauces added to the dish so the smelly and tough to chew fish was just inedible. (I'm all about sashimi and raw fish if executed correctly). But like I said, the tuna was tough, grayish in color and sliced weirdly in large uneven chunks... 2 stars for the Thai tea and the cooked dishes my boyfriend enjoys. 0 stars for the raw fish. Well, I really really love this place. However. For some reason today (April 11, 2017) the Poke bowl is just... bad. The tuna isnt cut properly at all, its sinewy and its so horribly chewy. We ordered in, because my bestfriend is here from Cali to celebrate her birthday and we wanted a quick tasty lunch and I had been telling her about this place. Im bummed, to be honest. I really like this place. Every time I drove through Muldoon I passed it and always wondered... wonder no more! I had their top bop with rib eye my boyfriend had the one with scallops. One of my favorite things is that you can get it as mild or as spicy as you'd like. Well, I called them out on the heat level of their "spicy" food, and man did they deliver. With the 1-10 heat rating added to menu items, I felt I had to try the 10, and boy oh boy, is it a legit 10. Wtf, Top Bop. Your quality varies by location. I noticed i enjoyed the food from the South Anchorage location more and then it hit me: they use fresh veggies. Meanwhile, the last time I had a bop from the Muldoon location, the lettuce was tinged with black--the kind that occurs when lettuce goes bad. I would have taken a picture, but for what it's worth I DID give them the benefit of the doubt and ate half of the meal before I closely examined it and realized why the meal tasted off (I assumed I was being biased lol). Run your own comparisons by location if you don't believe me. Rather than going down a line of rice/fish/toppings and picking what you want, they have a variety of premade bowls that you just order. All the bowls I've had are very tasty and the portions are healthy! They have alternatives to raw fish like chicken teriyaki if raw fish is not your thing. Me and my wife felt like having Chinese, but something different when we went here. That wasn't the case. Think of subway but instead of bread, it's a rice bowl. It didn't taste bad, it just didn't WOW me. It was basically rice and some ingredients I can throw in a bowl at home instead of paying $10 for it. And plus, I know it's unfortunate but my wife had a piece of hair in her food. She was liking it until that came up. But if you are dying to try it, it is at least worth a try. This place is a great, quick alternative to other fast food. Because it really is fast food. We've hardly had to wait 2 minutes before our orders were ready. I've tried a couple of the standard bowls, along with some new ones like the Japchae with glass noodles. I may be more sensitive to salt than others, but all of the plates I've tried are loaded with it and the seasoning is on the heavy side. Antacids recommended. The folks behind the counter are nice and the dining area is relatively clean. While I don't think anyone would have a bad experience here, it's not really outstanding. read more

Although they don't have a full on kitchen to prepare food as they would like, the dishes they do serve are yummy. Tip: Make sure to pay attention to the menu and ask of what is inside the bowl that you're ordering before you decide to blame it on the employees for something you didn't want but failed to speak up about. Customer service is great here, the two guys that work there are always welcoming and helpful. WARNING: Pay attention to the fact that some dishes have raw fish and fish eggs. So before you freak out and start asking about the texture and why it's raw. Haha because if I was there, I would look you straight in the eye and tell you that's how it's supposed to be. For the first time in my life I couldn't find anything to complain about! Top Bop is fast fresh and friendly, they literally had our orders out in under 8 minutes! I ordered the number 3 (bulgogi bop) and my wife the number 4 (teriyaki bop), we were both very satisfied. At these competitive prices we will defiantly be back again!
