This has been on my radar for a bit, happy to have had a chance to try their corned beef sandwich! The restaurant is a small and cozy space with a few spots to dine in. The parking lot is small and narrow, but people seem to be in and out of the businesses on this corner quickly enough to turn over spots. If they are closed during open business hours, the owner is likely next door at the chicken restaurant - that's what he mentioned when he saw me waiting for them to open. I honestly can't remember ever seeing an operating restaurant in this location or even seeing a door open so I pulled in because beef was on the front window so lets check this out. This place is less than a month new with a small menu so I ordered a beef dipped with hot peppers. The place is take out mostly with no real dining area and a few stools in the front window. The bag felt a little lite I thought and when I opened it up it's small compared to area restaurants for comparable prices. It was not dipped at all and just some extra juice poured in the sandwich. I'm going to put it out there right at the beginning. THE MEAT IS THE STAR AT TOP CORNED BEEF. If you're someone that's going to worry about the bread being different each time you come or there being cabbage on your Reuben instead of sauerkraut, then you might not be content here but I point back to my second sentence - the meat is the star! My wife and I had heard great things about this place. She ordered the Reuben and I got the Italian beef. We were both very happy with our choices. The meat on her Reuben was more chunky but she said it ate like it was shredded. It was tender and great. It came on marble rye bread that wasn't toasted much, if at all. Perhaps due to going in the day after St. Patrick's Day, it had freshly sliced cabbage instead of sauerkraut. Other pictures of their Reuben show sauerkraut so figuring it was a supply thing. She said it was still an excellent sandwich. My Italian beef was stuffed on a great roll. There was a ton of flavor and just the right amount of cheese for a nice blend. I would love some grilled peppers and onions but again, the meat is king and it was fabulous. My wife also noticed the cook wrapping our sandwiches and noted how he was very much a perfectionist about wrapping the sandwiches. This perfectionism carries over to the meat. This is definitely a place to try. It's run by one guy so sometimes it's hard to get through on the phone and sometimes they've been closed or out on deliveries when we've tried to stop in. I've wanted to try Top Corned Beef since reading Carol Deptolla's review in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in March 2023. Her praise for the corned beef was spot on! It was tender and wonderfully seasoned but not overly salty. The Reuben sandwich I ordered was generously portioned with sauerkraut and home-made Thousand Island dressing. My first meal from this business will certainly not be my last. I can't wait to try the other sandwiches on their menu. read more

The food was succulent and cooked very well. The flavor index is very good and the BBQ sauce is bomb (delightful). The service was very professional and all of our items were served in a timely manner. The restaurant space is small but, it definitely doesn't undercut the food and service. Today I had the pleasure of being introduced to this lovely establishment. It was Sunday and I purchased the corn beef and the lamb chops with asparagus and mash potatoes. I've been everywhere trying to find the best corn beef and they have won my heart. Their Corn beef was flavorful, easy to pull apart and VERY TENDER. Walked in and ordered 3 corned beef slider kids meals, a Reuben, and a corned beef sandwich. When I ordered the corned beef sandwich, the owner asked how I wanted it. I didn't really know so I asked him to make it how he would eat it. Took 10ish minutes for my order to be ready. The corned beef was REALLY good! My kids enjoyed their sliders, everyone was happy! Was recommended by onMilwaukee.com and me and my girlfriend decided to try it out! She had the Reuben sandwich toasted and I had the regular corn beef sandwich not toasted plus two beef tacos!! Saw Top Corned Beef while picking up a prescription at Walgreens on Oklahoma and Beloit, resolving to learn more about it. Reading the reviews here out loud to my wife prompted an immediate lunch visit. We were not disappointed! I had the pastrami, she had the corned beef. It's one of those times when there are a bunch of great reviews and the reviews were absolutely correct! I had the pastrami sandwich and I have to tell you that the pastrami slapped my tongue with an obscene amount of flavor! My taste buds were all jumping for joy! I have had pastrami and corned beef from many places in Milwaukee, and yes even Jake's but this too me may be a few notches above Jake's. I mean the original back in the day Jake's also! Stopped at this place for the first time today. Right off the bat the owners were very friendly. Great hospitality, wonderful people! I ordered 3 corned beef sandwiches, the house punch and the banana pudding. All of which were awesome!!!! Freshly made sandwiches were nicely wrapped and stayed very hot during the ride home! We really wanted to like this place...especially since it's minority owned. We waited over an hour only to receive the worst corned beef ever. Not only was it chewy but the color of the meat was two-toned. I've had better corned beef from the crock-pot. If there's any consolation, the owner was quite pleasant and friendly. If you're gonna name your business top corned beef you better have good corned beef. It was 90% fat and 10% beef on top of that it was a $15 sandwich. The three dollar hotdog and five dollar tacos would maybe worth the price but I also had to wait 20 minutes after arriving. I called ahead and was told to give them 15 minutes and got there 20 minutes after that. I will never eat there again. read more
