The nail salon was great with squeezing in a last minute pedi appointment in for two. It's easy to reach, sitting right in a small strip along the highway, you can't miss it. The person who helped book my appointment made sure I knew how to get to their location, which I appreciated since I was visiting DE. We arrived and immediately were seated in the best massage chairs ever, I wish I could have taken it home! I relaxed while my friend started her pedi and I patiently waited for someone to start mine. In my opinion, they are extremely rude. Husband and wife owned and they don't have any staff, so the owner will stop doing your nails to answer the phone or make appointments. I've been going to Top Nails for mostly pedicures for the last 4 to 5 years and have always been a good tipper: $7 on a $35 pedicure. There was a discrepancy about the tip from last month. I gave Lin $7 cash and I was also billed for a $7 tip on my Visa. I attempted to explain this to Lin who gave me every excuse to explain this: (1) "It was after your lip waxing". No Lin, I never had facial waxing done; (2) "It was when my aunt did your pedicure". No Lin, you did my pedicure. Later she told me that "Seven dollars means nothing to her." Walked in to ask if they can take my gel nails off, that I had done in my home country. Stuff was not friendly at all, looked at me like I'm out of my mind to walk in without appointment, I said ok, can I schedule one? Then one of the men that works there looked at my nails, and said that its too much for them, that they have to sand them down, and pretty much that they don't feel like dealing with that. NO. DO NOT GO HERE. I read the two reviews below, and figured hey why not. They must've changed in 2 years because the manicure I received was terrible. I had an appointment with a male manicurist, I don't know his name because he never told me. He was completely rude throughout the experience. However, the worst part came when he began to dig beneath my pinky nail on my right hand. I have no idea why or what he was doing, and at one point I pulled my hand away because it was so painful! I didn't say anything and still paid, because, stupid me, I assumed he knew what he was doing. After about a week, the area that he was digging in was still red and puffy. Once the shellac started to come off, I could see that the white part on the tip of my nail had grown around the side of my nail, so that my nail had the white tip on 3 sides. It was absolutely disgusting! I continued to trim it hoping it would grow out, but it never did. It got worse until about two months later the nail fell off. I am not exaggerating- so please, please believe me when I say- do not EVER give these people your money. I am so upset that I didn't go back and show them or demand repayment, but at this point I figured it was too late! I know that my nail falling off is directly attributable to this place. I have been coming to this business since 2008. It is family run. I use this salon for nails, pedicures and waxing. It is extremely clean and they just got brand new pedicure chairs. Ladies I know who can afford to go any place in town come here. Despite warnings from posh spas about infections and fungus I have never had a bad experience. Important: do not walk in and think you are going to be seen If it happens, consider yourself lucky. Do not expect a lot of chit chat and pampering from the men. They are busting themselves working and their wives are five feet away from them. The ladies are friendlier and if you tip well and a regular customer you will have absolutely no problems. I have seen some tourists come in there that were rude and demanding and treat these people like second class citizens, and I can tell you what--that is a big mistake. I am from out of town. I walked in and asked about a specific type of nail service I wanted done. Since the employees obviously looked clueless and didn't know what I was referring to, I was laughed at. Then I asked if they did something basic. They said, "yes" and so I sat down. While sitting there they made comments to each other and to the clients they were working on. Ten minutes later they realized I was sitting there and said, " would you like to make an appointment and come back?" I asked if I could just wait and they said, "no." When there was only one other person sitting beside me and half of the employees were almost done with their clients... I left since it was obvious they had no desire for my business. Have been a regular customer for more than 5 years for gel manicure and pedicures. The salon tends to be full of "regulars" that have been coming as long as I have if not longer. Perfectly good pedicure! My manicurist was very meticulous and seemed to really care how my pedicure came out. Never again!! I used to go there when I had artificial nails. Now that I have removed them and only go for manicures monthly, they are always too busy. I stopped yesterday at 11am and the man said they were booked for the rest of the day. First of all lets start with the fact that I called the place and I asked about gel mani and pedi they said its 25$ each which is fine by me. No greeting upon arrival. Then finally somebody asks what my friend and I needed we said gel mani and pedi. They said to go have a seat since they weren't busy on a Saturday afternoon ( which is already I guess bad sign) they in a minute when I'm trying to figure out a color they reveal that they don't actually do gel pedi, reason being that the top coat they use makes it last longer so why use gel. Like WTF SMH really WOW. Then they kept asking if I still wanted a pedi with no color when I clearly wanted one with it and then what looked like and owner said something along the lines of "whatever if you don't like it don't want its fine, we don't do gel pedi"really lady ?? Ill take my 40$ somewhere else ok. Water was cold for the most part. And they kept talking in their language = super annoying. Long story short dirty looking salon, with people that speak very poor English, and make you feel stupid when you don't understand their blabber. Don't care about their business and about customers. Definitely not coming back, unless they improve their customer service And upgrade the salon, and hire staff that speaks some English. I am 70 years old and had been going there MONTHLY for over 5 years for acrylic fingernail fills and pedicures. I went Memorial Day weekend '18 when I was sick and had a 2:30 p.m. appt. The person I see (the owner) took people ahead of me and did not even want to do my fingers then but when I said I was sick, he did. When I said I did not think I should have to pay a tip, he said I could no longer return. I apologized in the store and took a note to him, which he would not read. After requesting a standard mani, my daughter received a gel mani; consequently, her nails never dried, and when she went back the next day to have the mani repaired, they said it was her fault, even though they never turned the dryer on or asked her to place her hands in the dryer. Shame on the owners of Top Nails. I am a long time customer and the owner just lied to me about my pedicure appt. They sat someone down who had an appt after me. When I mentioned it he lied and said they had an appt before me.... 1 1/2 hours before my appt! Really... if their appt was 1 1/2 hours before my appt then why did this specific customer show up 2 hours late? And why didn't they honor my appt before hers since I showed up on time. Let me start off by saying that I wish I could give it no star rating. I went to this place on a Thursday afternoon to check it out and see what the price was for a gel manicure. After noticing that the price was decent, I asked how long the wait would be. The male manicurist gave us an attitude and said that they were appointment only! First off, they weren't that busy and there was ONE women waiting. Secondly, there was nothing stating that it was appointment only on the store front. I am from NY and go to Delaware frequently, because we own a "summer" home down here. I have been to many different nail salons in NY and have NEVER been turned away (in busy busy areas outside of Manhattan). The correct response would have been, we are a little busy now, there may be a bit of a wait, or would you mind coming back later? However, they weren't that busy and gave such as snot a$$ attitude that I will never return. They didn't even act apologetic. After we left I looked them up on here, and noticed that there were just as many one star ratings as 5 stars...this honestly tells me that the only people that are reviewing them are standing costumers, or those every day folk that come in and are looking for respect, and courteous customer service. I can't even comment on the actual nail salon service, and I will never return to them to find out about it. They can use a major attitude adjustment.
