    Lobster Deviled Eggs
    Jay J.

Topsail was really good. The food tasted great, the service was superb (thank you Joe), and the atmosphere was relaxed. The restaurant is a couple of blocks off Shem Creek and much less crowded then the restaurants on Shem Creek. You don't get the same view, but the food is just as good, if not better. The main eating area is set up around the bar. There are lots of bar seats, tables all around the walls, outdoor seating (some gliders) around gas fire pits, and some more tables off to the left. We started with lobster deviled eggs, which were really good (8/10). For the main dishes, we ordered: - Shrimp Gnocchi (9/10) - Roasted garlic alfredo sauce with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic glaze - Lobster & Grits (8/10) - Fresh lobster meat, lobster cream gravy, bacon, cherry tomatoes, caramelized onions If we lived in the area, we would definitely return.

I had a group of 12 and they had space for us at the right time for our reservation. They were super friendly and explained to us all the options they had and were very understanding with everything. The food was also amazing!! The only thing stopping me from giving them a 5 star is that one of the waiters spilled some sauce from my meal on my dress, and when they had asked if they spilled any, I said yes. However, they just apologized and walked away. It wasn't too big of a spill, so that's ok.

Service from Bobby was STELLAR. We've made reservations at so many places during our honeymoon week with those notes on the reservation and this was the ONLY restaurant in Charleston which not only acknowledged it, but offered us dessert for it. (Sadly we were too full.) Food was good but we had shells in the she crab soup AND in both of our lobster and grits. Lots of shells. Very bummed about this. As a side note, I told the server about my severe allergy to clams and muscles and he went above and beyond to make sure none of our food was at risk and he let me know what was safe to eat after checking with the chef. I really wish there wouldn't have been so many shells in our food, it would have been a perfect 5. I'd still recommend this place though, especially because of the service. Dinner for 2, no alcoholic drinks, and a side salad and cup of soup was just 100.

Awesome! The food was spectacular. Yes it's pricier but we'll worth it. I had the salmon entree and their Brussels sprouts were out of this world. Perfectly crispy with lots of flavor and perhaps a balsamic glaze? Their key like pie is clearly made all in house from the crust to the filling. It was delightful. Our waiter was wonderful, attentive and patient with my always confused mom. The interior is cozy and upscale but you don't need to dress to the nines to come. Small parking lot in the back as well.

My asian Tuna was excellent, the chicken Milanese was also very good, and a huge portion, the brussels sprouts appetizer was also excellent. Service was great, very professional, we highly recommend this restaurant!

We had the seafood platter. It was delicious. The hush puppies with Cajun honey butter are amazing. Great service. Don't let the looks deceive you. We will define be back.

Food is really good and lots of good choices. Nice cocktail menu too. My fish seemed slightly over cooked but the crab meat was AMAZING! Service was really good.

A must try!! From the curb appeal we weren't sure if we would like it but the food was outstanding! We started with the lobster sauce scallops which were good but we couldn't taste the lobster at all. The seafood platter was very good but the scallops were out of this world good. The peaches with scallop combination was surprisingly the perfect pairing. The service was good, not great and the place was overall not too loud! The good food makes this place deserve a 5/5!

Overall: Great service to compliment a quality meal! The good: The food was pretty good, but the service is what stood out for us. Our waiter (I can't quite remember his name, maybe Dean? ((He claimed to be the pastry chef/baker)) had a great sense of humor and was attentive. He made a self-proclaimed sexist joke at one point in the meal, and felt bad so he brought us out a free slice of chocolate cake (also helped that we were on our honeymoon, which he found out after). The cake was indulgent, moist, choclately, and simply incredible. The complimentary hush puppies were also a highlight, as was the lobster roll appetizer. The not-so-good: The ceviche was average. It was an interesting pairing of pineapple, peaches (if I remember), and tuna, but it didn't quite work. Food/drink: 9/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9.5/10

    PEI Mussels
    Bill E.

What a surprise on our inaugural visit to this small yet delightful restaurant. I had the PEI Mussels in the most delicious lobster sauce. The taste of these fantastic mussels was exceeded only by this exquisite sauce. All of this while experiencing the exemplary service of our server...she was so well informed and professional. I'll return to TOPSAIL.

    Yuzu Margarita

We arrived early enough to enjoy a couple of cocktails during Happy Hour. The Yuzu margaritas were to die for...with that we ordered the bacon wrapped hush puppies and the fried shrimp. Both stellar, but the shrimp were really perfectly done. We then moved to a table to enjoy dinner. My husband ordered the Osso Bucco and I ordered the scallops. Really delicious meals - couldn't have been better, and enough food to take home for lunch the next day!! The place is nicely decorated and the staff very friendly. We had such a pleasant time - Thank you!

It is such a pretty restaurant/rooftop. We ended up going all the way to the rooftop. Specifically because I wanted a view of the water. We ended up seeing dolphins in the water which was beautiful! Okay but moving on to the restaurant lol The shrimp appetizer was AMAZING. I had a mocktail that was delicious too. I ended up getting the house smoked bbq with two sides. My sides were Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The smoked bbq was disappointing, it was a tad on the saltier side and lots vinegar? Maybe not sure but it tasted bitter. The Mac and cheese was also not cheesy enough. It tasted like it came from a box unfortunately. The sweet potato fries were great. I am giving this place 4 stars because the staff were very nice and the appetizer along with drinks were great. I'd come back just for drinks and the view!

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the service throughout our lunch was attentive and welcoming. Everyone at our table loved their meals -- burgers, fries, and sandwiches all around with rave reviews. I ordered "The Bird," and it was absolutely delicious: perfectly cornmeal-breaded with a crispy fried crunch on the outside while staying incredibly moist and flavorful inside. Instead of cake, our group brought blueberry pies and vanilla ice cream, and the staff graciously took everything to the kitchen, sliced and plated the pie, added generous scoops of ice cream, and even placed birthday candles on each slice. Such a thoughtful touch that made the celebration extra special. The atmosphere along the water made it even better. Watching kayaks, paddle boards, and boats pass along Shem Creek while enjoying lunch was the perfect backdrop for a celebration. This has definitely become a new favorite spot for our group! Given no chance to explain that I did not order or receive any of the extra drinks on my tab, and no chance to reason with anyone who had the decency to listen. The story is as follows: I had accidentally left my credit card upstairs with the bartender after I opened a tab, and then moved downstairs for a table reservation. After dinner, I realized this had happened and asked the bouncer if I could go back upstairs to collect my card and close my tab (moving past a line to do so). I waited about 3 minutes to speak with the bartender upstairs, which is not an unreasonable amount of time, and as I was closing I was tapped on the shoulder by a bouncer and told I was "taking too long", and that I "had to go". Mind you I was still in good standing prior to this interaction. I was then escorted downstairs to where my family was sitting, and still nobody had the thought that maybe I was telling the truth and actually did have a table downstairs, even as it was right in front of them... Not only this, but Reds also does not have a working customer support email. It was such disturbing treatment of a paying and respectful customer. Both overcharging and removing my group without any explanation. Safe to say I won't be returning to this poorly run establishment.

I was a little worried when the website said call ahead seating was on hold thinking they would be slammed, but forged onward!' It was Sunday afternoon. I have read about nightmare parking but did not experience that at all. Zoomed right in. Yes, it was eleven bucks. I don't mind paying and refuse to get myself worked up over it. Ask for an outside table and no sooner did we sit down, the dolphins showed up!!! I consider myself an expert on dolphin spotting and had to show the table of 5 college age young ladies where they were located. They loved them as well. Who knew they would be so active in the middle of a busy waterway? As a former boat owner, I love watching those huge honkin' boats parallel park in between the baby ones. I do not have that skill , but it's entertaining to watch. Tyler was our server and was nice and attentive. Drinks were cold and quite good. I ordered a house Chardonnay and it was Cambria. Not crazy expensive either! Had shrimp tacos and steamed shrimp. So many steamed ones that I had a full meal the next day. I look forward to trying many more dishes. What I enjoyed the most was being part of a fun atmosphere in a fun place. Not a sad person in the place. That's always my attitude near any body of water.
