Wako must mean messy in whatever language it's from. Everything I've ever eaten here has been messy. It's good stuff, but it got to the point where I just didn't want to deal with it any more. The food can be hit or miss. I think it's because it's not overly busy most of the time, so maybe the people get bored or the food sits or something. I really enjoyed the shrimp taco, but the fish taco was just kinda there. The Wako Taco was good too. It's "Attached" to the Hourglass Brewery (Longwood Location) so it's super convenient to grab a bite when you're have a beer or five. read more

I came to visit with co-workers and we ordered a bunch of items to share and really enjoyed everything! We got the birria tacos, fish tacos, the wako taco, nachos, and the concha sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. The concha sandwich was a favorite with tender meat and a sweet bun. The guava sauce was especially good. The nachos were loaded and had tons of flavor. We came to eat on Labor Day evening and we were so pleased to find them open and not busy. The gentleman at the front seemed less than enthused when he greeted us but he was a bit friendlier when we asked him for recommendations since it was our first time. We went with the special which was three tacos with choice of meat. The chicken was dry but the beef and pork were tasty. The taco salad was hearty and the flavorful and the shell was fresh and crispy. The quesadilla was good and hearty. All in all, we enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the combined real estate with the brewery next door. We are not beer drinkers but it's cool that you can order at Wako Taco and have your food brought to you next door at the connected brewery. Very nice staff to serve. Fast and easy service! Everything is cooked fresh and the kitchen is small so you can see it being done. The menu is small but perfect if you know what you want. The pork taco was $3 with the works. They found the perfect amount of ingredients to put on the taco. I also ordered the fish taco which was mahi mahi. It came with red cabbage Cole slaw and orange slices on top. They gave us small sauces, one sweet and one spicy. The sweet one was cold and the spicy one was warm. I have been here twice, and both times the service has been friendly and the tacos good. I tried the Queso Birria tacos and The Mahi Fish tacos. They both were very flavorful and the sauces were excellent as well. Right next to Hourglass Brewery, and they will bring your food to you there as well. Really delicious quesadilla and love their avocado sauce! This location is open/connected to Hourglass Brewing next door. Hourglass doesn't serve food, so the Wako Taco staff will walk your food over into the pub, or you can bring a beer into Wako, it's a symbiotic relationship going on here with beer and tacos. So back to the quesadilla, it had ground beef, lots of chewy, melty cheese, and I asked for extra jalapeños. It was so good! Their taco sauces were smokey and delicious too. The avocado sauce is a blend of avocado and heavy dose of cilantro. To the person that complained in another yelp review about their "guacamole", this avocado sauce is not guacamole at all, it's a flavor packed avocado concoction, so the color is a bit darker and the flavor is intense. Tried the Namesake Wako Taco too, it was pretty spicy (and I already like it hot), so tread with caution on this item's spice level. The Wako Taco was good, but that quesadilla did it for me. The service can get jammed up a bit, but the people working were hustling to keep up with the demand. Had a nice experience and would come again. read more

Alright, I have to give these guys an update for an exceptional turn around on service, quality, and experience. I came here again for a third time and it was ten times better than my second experience. My first was good, second was terrible, and third was awesome. I'm hoping that this isn't an issue with inconsistency rather than changing over staff or just a random off day. I had the smothered Chimichanga and it was to die for. They definitely won back my patronage. I'd say the food was by far worth a solid five stars but considering my prior experience four stars will have to suffice. Wish it had a little more toppings on it but I do like that their slaw it chopped finely. Not a huge fan of big cabbage pieces. The chicken tacos were fresh. We've eaten at the restaurant next door many times and Wako Taco has always looked good, so we decided to try it. Menu looks great so we quickly ordered. The guy that took our order was great. We did special order two items (no pico or sour cream) Kids meals don't come with drinks, adding a lemonade made the kids meal almost $10. Food came out quickly and looked amazing. Mine was covered with pico and sour cream, but they remembered to keep it off my daughters. I don't have an allergy, just a preference, so I didn't say anything to the employee. The food was fine. It was exactly what it said it would be, however there was no seasoning on any of the meat, at all. I had the chicken flautas, they were beautiful. And they weren't bad, but they were very dry and almost no flavor. My husband had the street tacos, with everything on them. And they were fine, just very boring. We were offered hot sauce in plastic container that was delicious, I'm not a big fan of melt your face spicy, and it was perfect level of some spice, but still taste it all. All in all, I don't think I'll be back, but they didn't do anything wrong. We had 6 meals, and no one hated it, but no one loved it either. The kids cheese quesadillas were the biggest hit overall. 4 stars for some pretty tasty food connected to one of my favorite breweries, Hourglass Brewery! I've been meaning to try this place every time we come to Hourglass. I'm a little picky with Mexican but this place didn't disappoint. Our food came out super fast after ordering at the counter. We were planning on sharing a burrito but the photos looked so good for the chimichanga on Yelp so I had to give it a go. I sometimes think chimichangas can be a little greasy since its fried but this was made so well. It was crispy fried goodness without the oil feel. We chose the pulled pork, it was really tender and had a nice bbq flavor to it. All the menu items do not come with chips but you can have a side order of blue tortilla chips for $2, or even better $3 for chips and a dip. I ordered the queso based on recommendation, it was a nice creamy cheese goodness with a good kick of spice. Definitely try the free homemade hot sauce at the counter, there's a mind and hot. I really liked the hot sauce, it didn't seem to spicy at first but it has a after kick, loving it! Great place to check out if you're drinking craft beer at Hourglass, prompt service and all around good Mexican, I was quite impressed by our first visit! read more

There are several ways to dine at Wako Taco. You can order it and dine in, order and have it brought to you in Hourglass, or take it to go. Pay at the counter and wait with a number. You can't go wrong with the taco options. My favorite meat is the pork because of the way they cook it. It's seriously so tender and flavorful. My friend last time got the carne asada ones and she enjoyed them immensely. The taco salad is also another solid option. It came in a taco bowl the last time I ordered it so be sure to eat it quickly or else the bowl starts to get soggy. On our last visit, my friend ordered the burrito (veggie) and she said it was just average. It was filled with mostly rice. I had vegetarian nachos and those were phenomenal! I actually enjoyed them better than the ones I've ordered in the past with meat on it. I would say to stay away from their queso...it's like a weird taste/texture and it's not as cheesy as some other places. Also, save room for their dessert tacos. The service is a bit bizarre. Maybe I was just there on an off night, but the poor kid who delivered our food to us at the bar next door was super-confused and got the orders wrong/mixed up and took a while to fix them/figure it out. (They serve you your food at the bar next door, Hourglass Brewery, BTW.) But that chimichanga though... seriously. That chimichanga is a ton of food, and amazingly-delicious. I've also had the tacos - those were good, but nothing to write home about. Definitely go with the chimichanga! Lunch for two was about $25 and that's with the lunch special. Went in for two veggie tacos and one vegan one. All were enjoyable. Nice fat, plump ones. I liked both styles but the vegan ones were much better, I thought. They weren't missing anything without the cheese and the pico and fresh avocado slices elevated them to an epiphany. Lol...not really but they were really good. My partner had the shicken chimichanga and she Loved it; and I agree, the flavors were there, but it was basically a rice chimichanga as there really wasn't much of any chicken in it but oddly enough, there was a fair bit around it. The place smelled excellent and the brewery next door was exactly what the doctor ordered. That's kinda where the joy ended, though. The food was sooooo bland that it was shocking. I tasted each taco and they were all bland. My wife bit into her burrito and went "wow, I think they are allergic to seasoning." She tasted my tacos and I tasted her burrito. We both ate some of the nachos. It was all the same... bland. I got some of the extra hot salsa and she got some of the medium. That was about all we could do to save the food from the doldrums. Nothing we ate was bad and everything was presented nicely. It was just not flavorful and boring. As a nut for tacos, I just can't get excuse that. I also like their chips as they are seasoned enough to be good on their own, but the queso (and add in some of their hot sauce) takes it up a notch. They were tasty, too, and not spicy if you're worried about that. The kids chicken taco didn't have any spice either. I mention that because we have been to a couple of places that say "kids" meal but then the pick de gallo or the guacamole will have chopped jalapeño in it. Makes for a miserable dinner with a 13-month old. The taco had pico on it - no jalapeño- and even that is optional, of course.
