This restaurant and location is one of my favorites. Their food is great and highly customizable which allows for all diet types. They offer all their tacos "in a bowl" if you're low carb. They also have many vegetarian options. My favorite taco is on their "secret menu" and is called the Ace of Spades with brisket, jalapeño sausage, and a fried egg. It's amazing. New Torchy's location in the West U. neighborhood of Houston. They did a great job with this location! The look is clean and spacious. There is ample seating both indoors and outdoors. I always get myself in trouble at Torchy's because I end up ordering more than I can eat. You have to start of with queso (because duh), which is zesty and filling - particularly because their queso traditionally comes with guacamole inside (something my fellow diners were horrified to discover but I found delicious). Then you order the tacos individually and you think, of course I'm going to need more than one, I'll just get two. You might also be interested in a side or two. But when the main course finally arrives (which takes a good 15 min or so), you realize that these tacos are LOADED and can barely finish what you've ordered. Better than going hungry any day! This is the worst Torchy's location I've been to. The queso was cold, and the MoFaux and Trailer Park tacos were way too salty. The Trailer Park is normally my favorite taco here, and I was so disappointed when the excess salt ruined the flavor of the chicken. It seemed like it was almost 4x the normal amount of salt. The only positive aspect of my experience here was the Fried Avocado taco - absolutely delicious. You're better off going to a different Torchy's location, or if you're here, just get the Fried Avocado. read more

I honestly don't knkw why this torchys has such a low rating. This was my first torchys since moving to texas and i decided to treat myself after a tough day. I tried the fried avocado taco and the crossroads taco. I also ordered a margarita on the rocks because why not. I hemmed and hawed about 2 or 3 tacos while i waited but ultimately 2 was an appropriate amount because they are super large and filling. The beef brisket in the crossroads taco was one of the best types of cow i've ever eaten. I could eat a bowl of it. The warned me that the pickled jalepenos were spicy but i didnt think so at all. The fried avocado taco was delicious too, its an awesome veggie option. Both the crema and salsa they came with were delicious, the crema on the brisket was too die for. I will def be back but im still not understanding why this location has such a low rating compared to the other torchys!! read more

I feel like three stars is pretty generous for this location. Torchy's gets their last star for convenience. Convenience for us night shift workers, it is open at 8 AM and serving alcoholic beverages (sometimes much needed), convenience in the fact that you can count on Torchy's during a flood, or to be open down the street, as your neighborhood taco place, when you have nothing to cook... Came here during the September 2019' flooding, and tried to order a green Chile pork taco, the trailer park, and the Baja shrimp. Let it be known that Torchy's does in fact have a gluten free menu, but the staff is not trained on food allergies, or gluten preparation. The chips are made of corn, and anything can be ordered on a corn tortilla. There is also a gluten free designated menu. Also, let it be known that whatever you order different from your designated taco, it will still come out the same regardless of if you got it without onions, jalapeños, etc. That being said, my green Chile pork taco was sweet, and spicy, and salty, but not too spicy. Hit the spot on this cold and wet day. The Baja shrimp was crispy; and the trailer park although with the right amount of crisp (was a little too salty). First of all I have to say I really like Torchy's, but I was a little let down by the management team. We were excited because of the new location and closer to our work, but this was my experience. 1. I ordered from the secret menu and what I received was my food with an extremely long blonde hair. Of course anyone would be grossed out, especially since I pulled the whole thing out of my mouth. 2. I didn't make a big fuss, (didn't want to make a scene) so I pulled the manager aside to let her know. She apologized of course, gave me a refund and offered to remake my food. I was already grossed out but agreed. 30 min later I received my food to go. 3. As soon as I got to work, I opened up my food and noticed it wasn't what I had ordered. Again I called the restaurant to inform the manager. 4. She apologized again; (and again I said no worries, I understand). She then took down my address and said she would send me some gift cards so the food would be on them next time....3 weeks later, I have yet to receive anything. At this point, I don't think she will be sending anything. Again, I really like Torchy's but this experience really turned me off to this location. I'm in customer service and I tried to understand her point of view. I think I'll keep visiting the one further away from me. read more

This Torchy's is brand new and it feels that way right when you enter. The one negative is the very slow service in recieving your order (15 - 20 minutes or so with the restaurant empty, observed on multiple visits). That I also attribute to the facility being new and efficient practices haven't been fully implemented, yet. That being said, the food is delicious, as all Torchy's are. The restaurant is trendy and modern, but feels welcoming. They have fun older music playing at a volume that makes you want to get up and party. They have a large patio that is going to be great on comfortable weather days. Back to the food, it always has come out great. I typically go here for breakfast but have had the occasional lunch here, as well. The Ranch Hand is my go to, but I have the beef switched out for grilled chicken & get it on flour. Add a little diablo sauce to it, if you like spicy, and you're set. In conclusion, this Torchy's is a great place to enjoy good tacos, if you're not in a rush. 34 minutes to receive 1 taco ordered at 7:13pm on a Thursday - required my inquiry for it to appear. Unclear if anyone would have ever been resolved had I not asked and also had receipt w time stamp. Was informed there were many tickets before mine. Sounds like issues w labor shortages? idk - but I was offered only a mild explanation. Are their employees quiet quitting? They must have many more patrons than workers so I guess the margins will remain fat. The taco was very tasty just not that tasty. I work in customer service myself so I am patient and was polite to staff, but management needs to get a clue about this stuff. I ordered the Fried Avocado taco on flour tortilla (tasted homemade) and the taco was good (seemed not as fresh as advertised). Torchy's is a Houston institution at this The food is consistently good. However, some locations have crappy service, don't get cleaned, have super long wait times. To me, this is especially frustrating in a counter service restaurant where they still suggest a 15-25% tip. We've stopped going to any location but this one because it is still busy, but without the other issues. I recommend the trashy trailer park. My husband likes the breakfast tacos. We visited twice in one day! Tacos are $4 each and the selection is awesome. I recommend getting 2 or 3. Personally, I think I they are so well assembled/flavored that you will not need the sauce the tacos come with. But if you prefer more heat and additional flavor, fear not. Torch has you covered. Went here for the first time for lunch on a Friday. Wasn't too crowded. Plenty of parking. Walked right up to the counter and ordered. It was clean with a moderate noise level. Good for conversation. I had a Mr. Orange and my lunch buddy had shrimp tacos. Tacos were pretty good. I liked that the corn tortillas didn't fall apart. No forks though.... I had to remove a star. THESE TACOS ARE I don't consider myself a taco person, but dang I love me some Torchy's. My personal faves are the Democrat, Republican, and crossroads. Their queso is bomb as well. My only qualms: I usually order to-go, and for some reason at all 3 locations I frequent in Houston, they all take so so long. Like, I won't go to Torchy's unless I have some hot minutes to spare (even though it's to-go). And I get cussing-mad when I go to their Kirby Drive location and there is no parking... Really hate to post this low-star review, but man, they were definitely not ready to open. I went a couple of weeks ago, shortly after they opened their doors at this new location. And they definitely need to work out the bugs. Food delivery was confusing for the servers and slow as heck. In fact, some of the people at our table never got their order. And you know what they ordered? Chips and queso. Yep, the ran out of chips and queso....anyway. I ordered a salad that took a good 30 minutes for them to deliver. They give you a GPS pager type thing when you go sit down, and this is how the food deliverers locate you. Needless to say, this wasn't perfect and the servers kept coming by asking us if we ordered food that wasn't for us, meanwhile our food (that we did order) took forever to come, if at all. So on this visit I ordered the Brushfire and the Trailer-park, the order took about 3 min, Because was on the same order as two others. The person in front of us had her order before we sat down from ordering. I'm not sure the person running the cash resister looked up at us while we ordered. We ordered some drinks and the Bart was nice and heavy handed, not a complaint just saying. Overall my food was a delicious delightful explosion of flavors that seem to be consistent no matter what location you can get to. My recommendation is to get to one as soon as you can! read more

Worst experience at a Torchy's ever. Waited over 35 minutes for 4 tacos. It was a challenge to get anyone find out where our order was. Best guess-girl didn't put it through to the kitchen. After 4 tables who came after us were served it still took me approaching the counter to get an answer and some food. On top of that the tuna was overcooked Won't visit this location again. Right off the plane and in Texas for the first time in decades, I decided on Mexican cuisine for lunch. I picked Torchy's for it's convenient location near us. There was a pretty steady crowd coming in, but they handled it well. The layout is open, spacious, and inviting, and there's a patio when the weather's nice. We opted to sit at the bar and order. The bartender was friendly, and got our order in quickly. Not long after, our tacos arrived. I got the Trailer Park, featuring fried chicken, and the Tipsy Chick, featuring grilled marinated chicken. I got the Trailer Park extra trashy (extra cheese, no lettuce). Both tacos were delicious. I especially enjoyed the Tipsy Chick's bacon bourbon marmalade on the side. Since I was back in Texas, I also had a tall, cold can of Lone Star beer to complete the mood. The price and value of Torchy's was reasonable.
