This is not the location to go to. During COVID times: we called on the phone to make an order to go and they told us to hold on ... for 25+ min. We were already driving there and ended up hanging up since we were still on hold. We were pissed when we saw 2 customers at 1 table and that was it. They took our order of 4 tacos. After waiting about 10-15 min, we asked how much longer our to go would take. They then told us another 45 min. After I got upset, they then told me just a few more min because someone else ordered food with the same name. Even though the cashier saw us asking. They are not organized or paying attention. After we got our food, I asked the employee for sauce and she said ok. But never came back. Keep in mind the restaurant was empty and no one was sitting at the bar. Torchy's has one of the best quesos that I've ever tried. I HIGHLY recommend getting it as an appetizer to share with someone or even just for yourself whenever you go here. I've even gotten the queso to-go several times before too. It's just that good! The tacos that I've gotten that I recommend: -trailer park (get it trashy) -green Chile pork -Baja shrimp -democrat (highly recommend if you're a fan of Barbacoa) These tacos are a pretty decent size and are on the pricier end. To be honest, it takes me about 2 of them to get full. I don't think I can ever order more than 2 at a time. These tacos are definitely really unique and have so much good flavor! I keep giving this location a chance because it's the closest one from work for when I want Torchys for lunch. I've always admired Torchys to be consistent across all their locations so my review is for this particular location. I do order through their online delivery system. They have often forgotten to include sauces, or other taco specific ingredients like limes etc but keep giving them a chance. Keep in mind each taco is from 4 to 6 dollars. The last straw was this last time with the Trailer park chicken taco. It only had one tender that was super thin! I can't believe how much I spent for that. Going to avoid this location from now on. Mmmhhh those were some really delicious tacos! They sure do live up to their motto of "Damn Good Tacos" This is my second time at Torchy's, and I am never disappointed with the food and service here. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The tacos here are very unique, and not just the interesting names that they chose for their tacos. I loved the Trailer Park, Baja Shrimp, and the Democrat, in that order. Can't go wrong with most of the tacos on the menu though. The wait on a weeknight was about 10-15 minutes to place your order at the counter. It can get pretty busy here, but it is sure worth the wait. Can't wait to visit Houston again so I can get more Torchy's! read more

Recently renovated, to a more modern feel, rather than austin cool hipster vibe. More spacious than before. Took 30+ mins to get our food. They were concentrating on to go orders instead. It was only two tacos! People who came in to order to go after us left before us. Sold out of their monthly taco and others, so limited choices. Asked staff, and she didn't want to seem to help us, but more like, what do you expect? it's a cinco de Mayo? Literally, that's what she said. I was like uh? K?? Inside dining, there was barely anyone. Been here before renovation, and I recall it being messy. I think this is my least fave location to go to. So points are lost here for a few reasons. 1. Inconsistent service. The lady at the register could take a tip from the lady that actually brings out the food. I told her it was my first time at Torchy's and was asking a few questions and she just wasn't helpful. Then I didn't know she charged me 1.25 for extra chips, which wouldn't have been a problem if half the bag wasn't made of chips the size of my pinky fingernail. So I was a tad disappointed. 2. I was going to get one of the fried avacado tacos but the girl that took my order let me know that to make it vegan it would only have avocado, lettuce, and a salsa so I opted for 2 mofauxs instead! The taco choices are very unique and what I love is that they put a lot of different ingredients into each one. There are taco places that only add a few things like only cilantro or onions, but these tacos have at least like 4 or 5 toppings! This was my first time at a Torchy's and I LOVED it!! There are lots of delicious and reasonably-priced vegetarian/pescatarian options, which is a huge plus for me. I love that each taco comes with its own yummy sauce. Plus, they had COVID-19 prevention measures in place, which made me feel comfortable eating there. I ate here during a visit to Houston... I can't wait for Baton Rouge to get a Torchy's!!! I went there twice and tried the Migas, the Potato Egg and Cheese, and the Baja Shrimp. All three were sooooo good! I love that I don't have to compromise for having a pescatarian diet. My boyfriend said the Trailer Park (trashy option) was his absolute favorite, and he also liked the Brushfire. I gave this restaurant a second try and again bad bad service from the front staff and BOTH times got sick after eating the food here. First time I came here with my fiancé was about 3 months ago. We were so excited to finally try this place everyone raves about. They have shirts for sale in the front and I wanted to order one but the cashier said they didn't have anymore and probably weren't getting any more in any time soon.... Why have shirts for sale and not have it in stock?That was disappointing they should have just removed the shirt that they don't have in stock from the sales mannequin. We ordered our food, it came out in a decent time but $4.70 per taco? For the amount of meat and the cheap tortilla I wasn't impressed at all. The meat and tacos didn't really taste all that great. Nice presentation but no amazing flavors to keep me wanting more. Today came back to try to see if things got better, unfortunately no. Right when I walked in the front cashier wasn't pleasant to anyone, and she came off as if she didn't want to be there. I asked how long for the to go order I just placed and she said I don't know maybe 15 minutes. 15 minutes for two tacos? Ok, went to wait in my car. Came back in 15 minutes still not ready. My tacos were great and the flavors were awesome. The Baja Shrimp is still my favorite. The order came out in 10 mins or less after we ordered. I'm not sure if this place deserves a 3 or 4 stars. We stopped in late on night to get a few tacos. The best one I had was the potato and egg. My carnitas was a bit meh and my barbacoa was a little off. My wife's chicken taco was way salty however her egg and bacon was good. The thing I liked best was the queso. It was spicy and had guacamole and their hot sauce mixed in. I liked it however it may be a bit spicy for some people. I would recommend and will probably return but not any time soon. read more

About a year ago, the quality of food at this Torchy's was a lot lower compared to the other Torchy's on Wesleyan. However, they have seriously turned it around, especially with new staff. The staff a year ago was lazy and rude, but the new staff are so great and go above + beyond for customers. The food here is super fresh and on par for OG Torchy's and my boyfriend + me come here all the time now. The guac has increased in quality and tastes GREAT. It is our favorite guac. I usually get the Mr. Orange fish taco, but the new Tokyo Drift taco is so, so good. My boyfriend always gets the Trailer Park trashy tacos and loves them. read more

It's pretty difficult to find a seat indoors during peak lunch or dinner times, and if you wander outside, then be prepared to share a bench with a stranger. My husband and I have been here a few times and between us, and we order the following tacos in rotation: 1) The Democrat 2) Crossroads 3) The Republican 4) The Independent 5) Dirty Sanchez 6) Brushfire 7) Mr. Pink My usual order is two tacos, and once I even opted for street corn. Came in to order a frozen margarita from the cashier. There was one person in front of us waiting for their food and three people came after to order food. I ordered at 4:06pm and didn't receive my drink until 4:34pm nearly half an hour later. The cashier was just looking at us the whole time knowing we were waiting for just one drink. The three people after us even got their food while we were still waiting for our drink. How long does it take to pour the prepared frozen margarita from the machine into a togo cup???
