My second time at Torchys! I tried it for the first time in Austin. We got it to go but the taco size was smaller than what I had remembered. The Independent, Trailer park (trashy style) and shrimp taco were all good. I heard so much about the chips and queso but didn't realize they are spicy so we didn't enjoy them that much (cannot handle spice). The inside has decent amount of seats and we only had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes. Definitely a place to go to since it's not everywhere in the US. read more

BIGGEST TACOS EVER! These are not even close to your typical street tacos. Tried this place while visiting from Socal where tacos are aplenty. For tacos I got the Democrat and the Mr Orange. I really enjoyed both together since it's similar to surf and turf. The beef tasted really lean and I liked all the toppings they paired with it. Would say both were a little on the blander side but probably better that it's not full of a bunch of fatty sauces. The corn tortillas tasted so fresh!! Our table also got some queso and a side of corn. Both of these were super flavorful. The queso had a nice spicy kick to it and I think they put cilantro which was a good combo. Corn was good too! I wish they offered some more side salads or other veggies since the menu is pretty heavy.. I do like that they put the calorie info on there in case you're counting. As a long time Austinite, recently relocated to DFW, I've scored tacos from various Torchy's many times over the years, and watched the little chain grow from state to state. Doordash order of queso and various tacos for Friday night tex mex at home. Queso as always scores big, lots of flavor, just the right thickness, nice little bite of heat. Great with their fresh warm chips. Poblano sauce, creamy and spicy; between the queso, poblano sauce and chips, a great starter to fuel happy hour martinis while the main course of tacos lounges in their bag. Very easy to customize each taco to exactly your taste via Doordash, and everything was perfectly as ordered and nicely packaged. Warm up a crossroads taco and a green chile taco with a quick nuke, drizzle a little poblano and diablo sauce on each, and dig in. Been hunting around for the best tex mex in the area, thought Torchy's would be good in rotation, and was not expecting to be as blown away by how tasty the entire order was. Still need my tex mex chile enchiladas occasionally, but otherwise Torchy's Tacos is currently #1 on my favorites for local tex mex. read more

First of all I loaded the Torchy s AP and ordered delivery from this AP. My order never arrived. I got texts from the driver but when I called the number he would hang up on me or it would say vm not set up. I called the store and they said there was nothing they could do to help because the AP uses DoorDash. Why is it torchys AP but they can't help? So I order directly from the store but they aren't responsible?? Why doesn't the AP say we use DoorDash? Finally after 2 hours of dealing with the situation I picked up the order from torchys. Still have not received my refund from the botched order. And to make matters worse the food was awful! I love torchys but the food at this location and night was just awful. Finally the point of this post is that the store should have been at least a little responsible for a service they use that the customer doesn't even have a clue is being used. DoorDash ultimately failed but I didn't choose to use DoorDash and should have had support from the store. read more

Really amazing service service from the counter to bringing out the food. Other than that the tacos are overpriced and just ok. Maybe someone could steer me the right way. I ordered the brushfire taco and tailgater taco. They didn't speak to me all too much. The website even says "Damn Good Tacos" yet neither one were "damn good" but "just ok." Maybe they can reword the website to be more accurate. Friends keep telling me to try the queso but after my experience I'm not even sure I want to return. I really really like this chain..FAR superior to Chipotle (though not a great comparison since the menus are only similar in that is is Fresh/fast Mexican food.) This place is mostly just tacos. I would take any out-of-towner here to experience it (Like taking someone from the east coast person to In-and-out). I have now been here 2x. Today we split the fried avocado taco and I got the fried chicken tender taco (my man had the hot link one). Everything is made fresh, and the tacos are DELICIOUS!. I've been going to Torchy's since it was a good trailer in Austin and my experience today is exactly what I'm worried about as they go National. I called in order to be proactive, as it is sleeting, and because the online ordering didn't allow for ordering alcoholic beverages. The person on the phone was already very confused sounding. But I put in my order. Pulled up 15 min later and went to grab my to go order. By the way, we chose this specific location for its separate to go, pick up area as the one closer to us does not have that. The girl at the to go register was less than helpful. More importantly, she was just chilling, 2 feet from me, with her mask on her chin. She couldn't find my order so I gave her a play by play of how and what I ordered. Then she thought to look it up and said "Oh no one ever put it in so Wait here and I'll put it in." No apology, nothing. Just dismissive "oh well" attitude. Then goes "OK?!" harshly and my response was "Well what other choice is there but to wait. But I'll go back outside because it is not safe in here," and pointed to my mask. She shrugged and took off into the main area of the restaurant, mask continuing to "protect" her chin. Not only is the service atrocious, but the lack of consideration for customers (especially ones with pre existing conditions) during covid who are trying to support local/Texas companies is just unacceptable. Not to mention, how are you going to have a mask mandate for customers when your own staff doesn't even care? Torchy's I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come. You may be getting too big for your britches and what caused you success (the long time loyalty of Austinites) may now be your demise into just another chain that doesn't care about quality and/or the customers. Shame. UPDATE: When I went BACK in for my order I was about to walk out, but thought...let me check this. SURE ENOUGH ORDER WAS WRONG! Then the manager told me they couldn't do the Bloody Mary bc they can only do kits AND I CALLED AND ASKED THIS SPECIFIC QUESTION. While traveling for work I was looking for something new that I don't have at home. Tacos sounded great so I figured I'd give Torchy's a try. The food is excellent and quick. Serving sizes are huge. I got the Trailer Park served trashy style as well as the republican. Both were above expectations. Probably could have gotten away with just one. I also got the Hillbilly Queso with chips. Let's just say it's a dancing plethora of meat and cheese on the palette. Will definitely try Torchy's again the next time I'm in the area. read more

I had Torchy's for the first time back in February and Austin and couldn't wait to get back down to the South for my second time. I was in Dallas this past week and Torchy's was my first stop!! The aesthetic is clean and modern inside but let's get to the point: the tacos are fire!!! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the tacos, my favorites are the trailer park, baja shrimp, brushfire and Mr. Orange. They have a variety of sauces and the green avocado one is spicy and delicious. Torchy's is one of those few restaurant chains that is absolutely worth the hype. I went here because this was one of the suggested places by a friend for our trip to Dallas. Up on entering, the place was moderately crowded. We walked to the counter and ordered a few tacos. We got the salmon taco with no salmon but with fried avocado, a few fried avocado tacos, a veggie burrito. The waiter got some chips and salsas. The chips were fresh and the diablo salsa was amazing. The food arrived fast. I loved my taco with jicama, fresh pico, diablo sauce and fried avocado. My nephew liked his burrito and everyone loved their fried avocado tacos. Sweet & Savory with a hint of tang in combination w/ the grilled chicken and spinach...ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY!!! The fried avocado was amazing as well.
