My friend and I have been on a search for a good sushi place in the valley, we have finally found it! This would get a 5 star review except it was lacking in the service dept a bit. Our server only had a few other tables but took forever to bring us a drink menu, take our order, and then never checked in on once but had someone else bring us our check when we wanted to order more. There sushi is awesome so I would probably go back and just deal with the less than great service. Hopefully it gets better with time! read more

Tonight was my third time back to Toro Sushi, and it keeps getting better every time. I had the Tempura Udon for dinner and it was outstanding! The noodles and broth were cooked to perfection as well as the tempura. I really like how the tempura comes on a separate plate as to keep it nice and crunchy. With the dinner we ordered an assortment of nigiri sushi. Tuna, yellowtail, albacore, and octopus. The sushi was very delicious. By far the best I have ever had in Spokane! The tuna just melts in your mouth, the albacore was very flavorful, and the yellowtail honestly tasted just like the ocean, in a very good way. For desert we had strawberry and green tea mochi ice cream. It was definitely worth it. The ice cream had a very unique texture and wonderful taste. I really enjoyed the green tea ice cream, it was very true to the flavor. Overall the dinner was spectacular and the presentation of all the food itself was gorgeous and very artistic. By far this is the only real Japanese Sushi Restaurant in Spokane! I will definitely be back! read more

My daughter and I decided give this place a try since its close to home. Nice decor and interior. Staff was friendly. The sushi rolls we ordered were good, but not exceptional. I thought them to be a little simple. The rolls were on the slim side. I was expecting more for the price. I also ordered their salmon sashimi. The salmon was fresh. Update! As of today, they still haven't bought a Tamago pan. My family of 5 spends about $130 before tip on one dinner. If we do the math $130 x 2 dinners a month = $260 we'd spend per month on sushi. They have not had a pan in almost 9 months. $260 x 9 = $2340 we would have paid them. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find a Tamago pan for more than $140... this business decision does not make sense to me. I'm tired of waiting and checking. We arrived on their second evening. Friendly greeting as we entered...some unique rolls and very good food! Best miso soup I've ever had! And the salad dressing is YUMMY! The food is good but the experience is a crap shoot! I certainly wouldn't chose this restaurant if I didn't have a lot of patience and didn't have a lot of time. I like my sushi spicy and the Ready for Hell roll does not disappoint. Also love the Kamikaze roll! I've been here three times and each time the service and food has been great! My husband and I finally convinced our girls (6 & 8) to come here with us, and they loved it too! They enjoyed a California roll and the children's chicken teriyaki. And they especially loved that they each got a box of chocolate Pocky at the end of the meal. I've only tried a handful of sushi places around the Spokane area but Toro Sushi is my favorite. read more

Found this place via Yelp several months ago and were very impressed with the quality of the sushi and the service. We always found the drink setup a little quirky, as it would always take forever to get hot tea and we got the impression that they had to microwave the water in order to get it to a boil. Fortunately we are not exotic mixed drink drinkers as we would have to be brave to risk the mixed drink cluster that goes on there by servers, who should be delivering sushi and taking care of tables, instead of reading how to mix drinks from a piece of paper taped to the refrigerator behind a partition. Either way, our last two experiences in the past month were pretty bad, giving the impression that this place is on its way downhill. A month ago our sushi order was simply not entered or lost as we waited for 45 minutes for sushi while watching tables that came in after us order, eat and leave. Last night we watched one solo server doing her best to wait on the entire restaurant to no avail. We watched completed sushi orders perched on a counter in a warm restaurant for over 10 minutes before they were delivered to the waiting table. When our sushi order did arrive, the uni was bad, ruining the entire meal and they forgot part of our order, which was fine at that point. We couldn't leave fast enough and went to Starbucks to cleanse our pallets. We really liked this place and have watched it quickly deteriorate. Not sure why but we hope they can pull it together fast as this was our go to sushi place. We'll probably only give it one more try before crossing it off the list altogether. read more

Elegantly simple decor, very appropriate Japanese theme. I went for lunch with a friend, and didn't look at the dinner menu. The lunch menu is very impressive - large 2-sided page with quite a variety of rolls, tempura, bento, and bowls for selection. All have quite reasonable prices, with nothing higher than the bento at $12.95 IIRC. I had the Crazy Bowl at $9.95, a sort of combo with rice, greens, crunchies, (cooked) crabmeat and 2 kinds of raw fish, one of which was an especially delicious spicy tuna. Sauces and additional crunchy stuff completed the bowl, in a very attractive layered presentation. The overall effect was really quite marvelous. The bowl was large, with plenty of food for a big eater, and also came with miso soup as an appetizer. I really, really enjoyed this meal, and will definitely be visiting again to sample more of their offerings. read more

YUM!!! Wow what a great place!! A freind took my wife and I to Toro Sushi last night, and she was spot on with that recommendation!! They have a great atmosphere, and a very freindly staff. The tables and chairs are very nice as well as the Sushi dishes that are on the table. The salad and soup that they brought to the table were wonderful (although in my opinion the salad had a little too much dressing). Between the 3 of us we shared 2 appetizers (Great touch with the coarse ground salt on the Edamame), 4 Rolls (California, Dragon, Spokane, Mastercard) that were all very well put together, and some Salmon Inari. The food was all obviously very fresh and the chefs very talented. We will definitely be back! read more
