i've been wanting to try the original location in diamond bar for a while now, and when i saw the san marino location pop up on yelp i knew it was meant to be :'). i finally get the hype! so worth waiting in the line, esp bc it moves really fast. i was scared their wasn't going to be good seating, but honestly it was fine. very aesthetic, if i may add. so good for picture ops. the real star of the show is definitely their drinks! i got the popcorn milktea w brown sugar tapiochi, the matcha einspanner, and the gardenia oolong cold brew. 100% will come back for the popcorn mt, and would love to try their other flavors soon read more

very aesthetically pleasing interior! bigger than i thought length wise. i thought it was kind of weird that they only let about 15-ish people in at a time and made the rest wait outside though. when i went, i waited for about 10 minutes before they let me in. the employees are nice enough and the ordering part took less than 3 minutes to get through. surprisingly, the actual drinks came out quickly, maybe 5 minutes. i got the popcorn milk tea and the pine pure tea with barley jelly. both were good, but the second was kind of bitter for me. kind of expensive for the small size, i guess they prioritize quality over quantity! read more

I'm so glad Torotea opened a closer location in San Marino--it's been my weekly tea stop ever since! The drinks are just as delicious as the original Diamond Bar location, with the added perks of easier parking and a relaxing interior with more seating. There's usually a line, especially during peak hours, but it moves quickly and is totally worth the wait. I also love that each location has a few exclusive drinks--it keeps the menu fun and fresh! My go-to orders are the Misty Oolong Milk Tea with black tea jelly and the Cassia Milk Tea with brown sugar jelly--both are perfectly balanced and full of flavor. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and consistent. If you're a tea lover in the SGV, this location is definitely worth checking out! read more

This is the second time we've visited, and we wanted to give this place a second chance since it's just been opened. However, the service we received today was not great. Since there's a long line and people are waiting for their drinks. There's not enough seating inside, so only one of us got to sit down. The other person had to stand waiting for the order by the white counter decor across from the cashier, and was told by the blonde girl with bangs at the door that "this is not a seat, it is for decoration!" Mind you, my friend was literally just standing next to this "decoration" because she had no place to sit... c'mon. Giving off such a mean vibe toward us for this is no big deal. Relax. The inside is already so cramped, and the drinks took forever. Honestly, there is nothing special about the drinks, they are mid and so watered down. Overall, we would not be returning because the overall vibe isn't welcoming. P.s. the store needs improvements (e.g., long lines and not enough seating), and please train your staff at the door to be more friendly and polite. read more

Also the services not allow you stand from another side of the side walk, it's public space, not belong to your store. So disappointing form the beginning, waiting is fine, but the rules and server are so overbearing. This is my second visit; I came by here on Wednesday night. I was able to see more of this new location because I arrived alone this time instead of with several friends. My friends and I had previously ordered the ember, cassia milk tea, and zesty oolong. Zesty: little watery but tangy. Not really impressed. Cassia was all right. The only one that truly wowed me was the ember. I finally tried the popcorn, and it was decent. (It's also really disappointing that the person taking my order did not properly describe any of the drinks even though I asked for some personal insight. I suppose they are only taught to take orders and not have to know how to even describe the product) I feel sorry for the workers in front of me. When I saw them stressed up the first time, I thought maybe they were simply getting used to it and were feeling overburdened, but this time, nothing seemed to change and it felt worse. First of all, it's not that easy to get in here. The rules are numerous. In addition to needing to manage the line and push the sample to be tried, the staff kind of yelled at me and pushed five things in my face at once as soon as I stepped in, so perhaps that's what was happening. In addition, I could hardly hear them because of the loud music and the large group ordering next to me. I felt I was pushed aside as I placed my order and drinks were brought out for another group, I just wanted to leave at that point. According to the reports, it appears like this establishment wants to enforce these stringent rules to get every customer out, along with getting their drinks out of the way. However, I suppose this is because the area is so limited. I'm not sure, but ordering and getting beverages to go is a little too much for me, unlike other spots. I simply don't find myself coming here to unwind, and I most certainly don't if I'm pressed for time. Second time going to Torotea in San Marino, I didn't have the best experience with customer service last time. One of the workers taking my order was pretty passive-aggressive and couldn't really explain what "tapiochi" was very well, so I ended up not ordering it. I did get the popcorn milk tea though, and it was actually pretty good. Don't get me wrong, I loved the atmosphere. It felt super relaxing. Fast forward to today, and my experience was completely different. The customer service was amazing compared to last time. I believe the worker's name was Mark. He was extremely polite and took the time to explain the drinks to me. He broke down the options, like adjusting sweetness and ice levels, and made sure I understood everything clearly. Went here this morning after a friend recommended it and I tried their Oojicha Einspanner, Matcha Einspanner, and Pine Wood Black tea. Both the Einspanner drinks were their most popular drinks and they were truly disappointing. The Oojicha Einspanner tasted like sweet and salty milk. The oolong flavor was so light, it was more like milk and ice with a hint of oolong (I'm using "hint" very loosely because I honestly did not taste any tea what so ever). They also don't allow you to customize this drink so I wasn't able to add any toppings nor was I able to adjust the sugar levels. Prior to ordering, one of the workers said that the Oojicha Einspanner with the Tapiochi was a really good combination so I'm confused on why I wasn't able to customize the drink how I wanted when I got to the register. For nearly $9 a cup, it's not worth it. The Matcha Einspanner tasted exactly like the Oojicha Einspanner except it had a tiny bit more of a Matcha flavor. But again, the milk and cream top overpowered the Matcha completely. They were also just skimping out on the matcha. Not only was it so hard to mix because they put a lot of ice, my drink was also white when I fully mixed it. In my opinion, a good matcha should be a dark yet vibrant shade of green and this was not it. Their Pine Wood Black tea was actually really good, best one I tried out of the three, but there's nothing special about it. You're better off going to Chapresso down the street if you want a stronger tea flavor. The interior was nice but stuffy. Not a lot of places to sit but it was also crowded when I went so maybe thats why there wasn't a lot of seating which if understandable. In my personal opinion, this place is overrated and I would not wait 40 minutes to get it. But hey, to each their own. read more

We went to Toro Tea 2 weeks ago and waited in line for order a drink. We walked from Arcadia as exercise and reward ourselves with Toro Tea as incentive. When we got there, there was a long line (which is fine) and ordered 1 drink. They are very systematic and call each person in the order that the order was placed. No one really skips ahead or behind. After waiting 9-10 orders ahead of us, it was our turn next. However a group of girls pre-emptively walked up and took the drinks (including ours). One girl commented that "this isn't what I ordered, but I like it. This is good, I'll keep it". The staff did NOT call their name nor our name yet. When we went up to ask/inquire about our drink, the staff said "your drink will come up shortly, please don't block the front and wait in the back". We waited for another 6-8 people to pass by who were well behind us. We ordered 1 milk tea with no toppings or special requests. When we went to ask again, they still said to wait. At this point, we called an Uber as we did not want to walk another 7 miles back home. Our uber came 10 minutes later, and our drink was still not ready. Only when we mentioned that we will just leave, they offered to 'make our drink'. We asked the staff to refund us, and to this day have yet to refund us. They can keep it at this point. If you want your drink, make sure you pay attention who is ahead of you, so the group behind you doesn't take your drink. Do not expect the staff to actually care that you were skipped, since they are busy, you as 1 customer does not really matter. I get it. But if you never got a bad experience, then you're okay. But if you run into any issues, you need to advocate for yourself, or the staff will just brush you aside, as I mentioned, they are busy. 1 lost customer doesn't really matter to them. Good luck to those who have the same experience as us. Also don't do something as stupid as us, and walk a long distance hoping that Toro tea will be rewarding. That was on us. read more

Just left this place. The people that works here are horrible! Extremely poor customer service. The girl at the front was so pushy for me to order when I said we are not ready yet and still need to look at the menu. I proceed to ask her if that's okay? she rolled her eyes and walked away. I felt so rushed for no reason at all. The two girls working at the front literally look like they have an attitude problem and very unwelcoming. I felt like I was bothering them just by looking at what was displayed in the front. They look like they hate their jobs. Like why work in customer service if you don't know how to show it with positivity? We went on Sat 5/24 at 5:00pm where the wait time was less than 5 min with a few people in front of us. All of the staff were friendly except this one lady behind the register. The staff member who was monitoring the line outside told us we can enter and continue to wait in line to order. I started to film the interior and the lady appeared irritated and annoyed when I was filming to the point where she interrupted her own conversation with a customer to yell at us if we were told we can be inside to wait to order. We were not in anyone's way or blocking the door. I said yes and gave her a thumbs up but she seemed to not understand so when the staff member who was monitoring the line outside of the store came inside, she proceeds to yell across the store to him asking if he let us in, to which he replied yes with a confused expression. I am a frequent customer at toro tea diamond bar and I've spent hundreds of dollars here. My first time coming here today, I was a bit disappointed because I when I ordered the Dalgona Cloud Top Koan-Im Oolong latte the cashier told me I cannot add toppings to the specialty drink. Every time I've ordered this drink at the original location they have always added it. I don't understand why they can't honor the add on topping. after coming at least twice a week for two weeks it's safe to say i'm obsessed every drink is really good and well crafted! as pretentious as it sounds, each drink is a unique "experience" (maybe the milk teas less so but the staff are good about explaining the unique flavors of each tea, milk, fruit, or plain). i wish you could add toppings to the ones with (X) {i thought it just meant no customization to sweetness + ice} but it is what it is plus it definitely aligns with the "perfect" sip/cup/drink branding torotea has. after coming 7ish times, the line even when long moves quickly (i think i've waited 30 minutes total max) and each drink is great as is! i've really enjoyed all the fruit teas and so far every milk tea i've tried has had a different flavor profile. this place is very minimalist chic, and honestly fits in better than i expected in san marino (especially after my brother in law joked "i thought businesses only come to san marino if they want to fail" ) if i had one critique it would be that this place can be kinda pretentious, but they also sort of have every right to be with the quality and "experience" they offer. if you want great tea with unique flavor profiles and toppings come here! just know everything is very curated and done so for a reason (if you want all that but with tapioca boba and less limitations go formosa aroma lol) read more

The tea was like water and the toppings were average. Made me wonder why the 2 male employees were so pretentious. My friend ordered his drink with boba, to which the cashier condescendingly responded, "We don't do boba, only Chewies." My friend then asked, "Is that similar to boba?"
