I like this place. Delicious burritos and friendly staff. It is set up like Chipotle and I actually think their chicken is tastier than Chipotle's. Only 4 stars because the Guacamole isn't very good. Also, they have a tip basket next to the register and if you use a Credit Card, you have to fill out a receipt that has a tip line. Anyone within 20 and 21 miles should consider this a must stop taqueria. Affordable prices, enthusiastic staff and a simple menu make for a pleasant experience. The decor was unique however did not detract from the atmosphere. I would give my bathroom extrusion 7/7. The music playing added to the overall enjoyment of my time in the bano. So I love this place but unfortunately I don't like my experience this time. I ordered a bowl the girl gave tiny bit of rice. I asked for light black beans and she gave me a huge spoon full. I said " I asked for light beans" she rolled her eyes and threw chicken on it as I had asked for chicken. I repeated " I asked for light beans" she said I know. Then dig thru with her hands to take some out. So gross. She was rude and she barely even gave me any food. It was like all beans.....she should have made it again. It's the Chipotle type place. Made to order burritos , tacos, etc. Loaded up with beans and rice. Yet a little short on meat. But a whole lot of people are willing to paying top dollar for beans, rice and lettuce. In my book, it's a 2 star for value, with low flavor. My rating will probably be lower than others. Typically we would stay away from "chain restaurants" and after a lousy experience getting soggy tacos there once, we almost did stay way. But we went in with friends a few weeks back and I am glad we gave them another shot because, chain or no chain, they give amazing customer service. After the soggy taco incident the owners gave is coupons for our next visit which was very nice of them. It turns out I have become a little addicted to their burritos, especially the pastor, YUM. I love that they have the sweet rice and tamarind drinks and flan. I love that they will make it ahead if you call for quick pick up. Didn't even make me wait in line to pay for my to-go order. It can get really packed in there if you're dining in and I dislike that they scream "GUAAACAMOLE" everytime someone orders it. So I usually dine OUT. Either on the patio or take it to go. Prices went up a little on some of the meat options but I think it's better than paying a buck less and getting mystery meat at some hole in the wall. So they've earned 4 stars in my book for : Great service, large portions, pretty authentic for a chain restaurant, and yummy burritos! read more

Food was good service was somewhat slow. The restaraunt itself is kind of small and cramped. The tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down in some time, so we elected to take our order to go. Just visited their new location in San Luis Obispo. I ordered a Salad with Al Pastor. Extremely disappointed with this salad. It was a mess and had no flavor. During a time when all romaine lettuce across the US has been recalled and restaurants are supposed to throw away their romaine, guess what is being served here? I asked the lady at the counter why they still have it and informed her it should be thrown away and is not safe to eat. She started coldly at me and just could not have cared less. Noisy & way overpriced!! Dont be fooled by the rating of the star in this place. I went here witg my family because of high # of stars. Boy, was the experience not come close! The girl who I spoke to took my request with ok.. and she walks back to the back of the room, is stopped by a worker in the "tight round bun" yeah Im talkimg to you, who gave the dirtiest look, which followed by a mocking laughter... (laughing at my request?) like I asked something so wrong? They turned it down. Thank God! But why not do it with a smile?!!! Why the frown & the mocking laughter to the customer? A couple sitting next to me thanked me asking the music sound to be lowered. He said I read his mind. If that is not enough, I was shocked by how much they charged for a tiny little tacos. $3.99 for a tiny tacos with little tortilla & small amount of meat. They charge 50 cents for grilled jalepenos, 85 cents for drink refills. They stick it to you wherever they can. Oh did I mention the meat are super DRY!! Looks like they are old meat from previous day(s). Little meat they kill it with the hot sauce. Never ever again would I go here. Please go somewhere else!! I choice a wrong place!! I can't believe this place is only 3.5 stars! :( The food here is incredible and so fresh, also they are BEYOND generous with their portions. This place puts chipotle to shame and I can't believe I've seen some comparisons THEY ARE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME LEAGUE! As well as the fun decor and favorable food the staff is amazing I go in often and usually keep to myself but they are all so kind and hardworking. Horchata here 10/10, The Gorditas are also a must try but my personal favorite is the ultra filling and tasty Burritos. I stumbled into Tortilla Town in June 2007, while I was part taking in my first AIDS Life Cycle Bike Ride. On Day 3 of 7 we roll into Paso Robles. I was starving and didn't want to eat fish so I went on the hunt for food. I found Tortilla Town and it was like being back home in SF's Mission District and at some of the best Mexican Rests in LA. This place is really good. The burritos are BIG and GOOD! This place is clean and the service is great. Its 2014 and I still go to Tortilla Town to eat. In fact we rolled in with my cycling buddies of about 15 of us. I'm still eating 2 huge burritos once we roll into Paso Robles. I order a carne asada, rice, pinto beans, cheese, salsa and GUACA-MOLE on the side with a large root beer. This place is still great! Great food and customer service. read more

If you like Chipotle then you will go head over heals for Tortilla Town. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere- colorful and fun. It is a small place, all counter service and a few booths. There is however many outdoor tables that seem to all be shared between businesses. The meat is fantastic and packed with flavor. Go for AL Pastor if you do decide - pork slices, slow roasted on a spit that is absolutely phenomenal. The barbacoa is equally tender and Amazing. All the ingredients are fresh. I recommend the red sauce. To drink- creamiest best horchata I have had yet. If you like corn, try the gorditas, they fry up the masa shells to order. It is like a stoneground corn pita, split and filled with meat and the toppings of your choice (I got double meat and it was perfect). The flour tortillas are fresh and delicious, I didn't slap mine, but you might slap yours! read more

I truly have enjoyed being a long term customer of this establishment. It certainly has been a great alternative to chains like Chipotle. Two observations worth mentioning: 1) I have seen the owner/manager (not sure which although) frequent to get prime ingredients from the local Smart And Final. I get the chain of distribution, however, when your purchasing store bought ingredients such as Chili verde salsa, pinto beans, etc. and integrating them into a premium price menu (7.99 price tag for 3 al a carte tacos), is when i don't recognize the value in what is being served. The food just doesn't provide that level of uniqueness when you understand everything was sourced from a wholesale distributor that I could I go and buy myself. 2) For many, health standards might fly by the wayside when employed elsewhere. However, the practical application of "FIFO" is important and does serve a purpose in preventing food bourn illness. I have witness many of the grill staff restock the protein chaffing dishes with freshly grilled meats and stacking it on top of meat that I assumed has been there for... WHO KNOWS??? I respect the convoluted notation to serve the "freshest" and "finest" product. Begs the question, however, who gets served that carne aside that has been sitting at the bottom of the chaffing dishes for maybe 8+ plus near closing when they decide they have enough to close and run low on supplies? I guess just food for thought on the conversation. For real tho, these people need to engage in more thorough safe handling food practices. read more

This place is OK, definitely not worthy of four stars. The Al Pastor looks promising turning up there on the vertical rotisserie, but it's bland, tough and at $8.00 for 3 street size tacos it's pretty steep. If you add guacamole to anything the entire staff says "guacamole" in unison. Although novel at first, it loses its charm after hearing it over and over and over and over. I placed a group order through Door Dash for the office. 3 of the 5 items were prepared wrong, and the tortillas on all the burritos were cracking with everything falling out.
