I came to Tosun on a Tuesday night a few weeks ago. It was fairly empty with only 2 other tables with people. Starting with what I liked, the food. The food here is was excellent to say the least. Appetizers were very good and I liked the hummus. I had the beef kebab and it was honestly one of the best I've had. My mother had the salmon and she liked how it was prepared. We had the Balkava for desert. It was good, but a bit too sweet for me. One thing I do want to note is this restaraunt does not serve alcohol, so make sure to come with a bottle of wine, if you drink. Overall, I would say the food here is 4/5. The service here was shockingly bad. Getting the waiters to serve us was like pulling teeth and they had a bad attitude. My son came first and he asked for water for everyone. The waiter brings a closed bottle of poland spring and didn't pour it for anyone. When I arrived with my wife and mother, we brought a bottle of wine and the waitress hands us a bottle opener instead of opening it and pouring it. I then tried to get a waiters attention and they were just roaming around to help open it for us. After about 5 minutes of trying to get a waiter over, they came and opened the bottle. It took a long time for the waiter to come and take our orders even if we tried to get their attention. As we were dining the waiters did not come once to our table. I understand if the restaraunt is full but it was practically empty. After we ate, the waiters disappeared somewhere we had to wait for 10 minutes to ask for the bill. Even then, they didn't want to walk over to us. I have never seen such poor service and was shocked that a good restaraunt has this issue. Service was 0.01/5. Finally, the bill. The bill includes tips and I would have left half of what was computed given how terrible the service was. The bill was much more than I expected and I didn't like how expensive it was. Overall, I had a great meal here but the service I received was just terrible.

Finally got a chance to stop by this place for lunch, and I can tell you that it's an authentic, Turkiye-cozy, and delicious restaurant with lots of vegetarian options. First of all, the interior is warm and inviting with elements of Turkish designs and makes you feel at ease. Menu is pretty straight-forward, with a long list of appetizers separated by cold or hot, which I found was thoughtful, especially for ladies who may want to know if an app is cold or not. Some oven items, pita sandwiches, and of course, main courses. We ordered lightly since it was a lunch: 1. Muhteber (Cold App, $8.5, 3/5) - We love babaghanoush and order it all the time so figured we'd try something else. This is char-grilled eggplant w/ aged feta and walnut (tree nut allergy warning!) which was rather ... bland though had interesting bite texture. We ate it with their hot & chewy pita bread and while it felt wholesome, it wasn't as tasty as good ole babaghanoush. 2. Mixed Pide (Entree, $22, 4/5) - Basically a large flat bread pizza from oven, it was quite delicious w/ smoky cumin flavor permeating the mouth-watering spicy sausage & pastrami. It was a satisfying savory & crunchy bite that was filling. 3. Chicken Shish wrap (Entree, $17.5, 4/5) - A bit smaller than what I'm used to, it was well-balanced in meat & veggie ratio, and the sauce they use was delicious. Came with pipin'-hot fries! We also enjoyed their fresh squeezed OJ and Turkish tea which was served in the authentic tea cup w/ base. We also had a nice chat with our waitress who was from Izmir, Turkey which we recently traveled nearby on our cruise, so that was rather nice. I saw locals walk on over for a meal, which made sense since it's surrounded by condo complexes and does not have a large parking lot. However, they do have a side street so you can still find parking there. We enjoyed our meal and will be back to try main courses as well!

We came here for our anniversary dinner, attracted by the nice view and tasty looking food. They definitely did not disappoint! Food: This Turkish spot in Edgewater serves great Mediterranean fare. We ordered the calamari to start, and then followed it up with the Mixed Grill and Skirt steak which both came with their own sides. Wow these portions were big. One entree could probably have fed the both of us comfortable. We ended up having to take the leftovers away. Very tasty! Service: We got there around 5 pm on Saturday night without a reservation and were seated right away. The servers were very patient in explaining some of the Turkish menu items I was unfamiliar with. Ambiance: The decor of this place is definitely outstanding. There is outdoor patio seating with string lights which would be perfect for a warm night. Inside, they have very nice decor as well so there are aesthetic options wherever you end up sitting!

Mediterranean/Greek/Turkish food - A selection hard to find in this area, but the food is decent and it's BYOB. Always a must get is : Shepherd's Salad (with lots of herbs!!!!!) Shrimp casserole (Tomato sauce) - Great for dipping with bread as if it's Shashuka ^^ Their dips are great !!!!Tzatziki, hummus, babaganoush, etc. Baklava & Kunefe for dessert !!!!! I am usually a big fan of Lahmacun, but this time, I wouldn't know why, but the meat smell (??? Lamb????) was unpleasant. Maybe we should opt for lahmacun at another Turkish restaurant at Cliffside Park. But, all in all, Marmaris is worth it.

Very tasty and authentic Turkish cuisine! Went here with my mentor who is from Turkey and we ordered a variety of appetizers/ finger foods. He surprised me and ordered in Turkish with the waitress, so I only knew what some of the dishes were but not all. The dessert was to die for and I really enjoyed the Lahmacun, the shepherds small salad, the Muhteber with the pita bread was also tasty and the feta in phyllo (sigara boregi) were super delicious. They had thinly slice liver (which I don't really like but, since it was very thin, I was able to have some pieces) would definitely recommend!

Food is really tasty, on the healthier side. Feels like a true Turkish experience. Cozy and beautiful atmosphere. Very nice and attentive servers.

Me and my husband went to this restaurant on a weeknight for a late dinner. Parking lot was small and packed, so cars had to double parked. Restaurant wasn't full at all. 4 outdoor tables and 3 indoor tables were occupied. Outdoor area was right beside of cars, we seat inside of the restaurant. Very beautiful decoration and comfortable chair was impressive. It was cozy and somewhat romantic. We ordered hummus, lentil soup, mixed pide and lamb sac tava. Food was great. Hummus wasn't the best I've ever tasted but still good. Pide and lamb sac tava were very delicious. Price was reasonable. BYOB is an additional bonus for this place. One issue I had with them was their service. Server brought us water and bread without a simple hello. After our meal, server asked me if we want some dessert. Instead of dessert we decided to have some Turkish. Her response to us not ordering dessert seemed rude and my husband felt it was very inappropriate. Additionally our tea never came out. If there are 7 occupied tables with 3 servers, service should be attentive. But service was slow and rude. If it wasn't for the good food, I would rate this place a lot lower. read more

This place is awesome. The decor feels like your in Europe. The service is outstanding and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. the food i've had is delicious. I had the premium breakfast plate which is an assortment of cheeses, meats, olives, butter, jams, cucumbers, tomatoes and it comes with a side of delicious bread. Its a huge meal and its fresh and delicious! Also had the Su boregi, which was very very tasty as well. I'm dying to go back and try their other dishes. The only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that i've only tried 2 dishes - both of which deserve 5 stars. If i try other dishes and they are also great, i'm definitely bumping it up to 5. read more

This is the 3rd time I've been here. It's very close to my house so it's very convenient. We tried the shrimp kebab, chicken kebab, and lamb suc tava. For drinks we tried their homemade iced tea and Turkish coffee. Everything we ate and drink was very good! The decor is very authentic and charming. Our waitress was also very nice and helpful. I am a fan of this restaurant and will continue to come back. read more

First time I has some Turkish food. I tried the pide which was like a Turkish pizza and it was really good. It's also huge so two people can share one. I also had their hummus and I couldn't stop eating it. Atmosphere was very nice and only thing I would change is having fountain sodas rather than can cokes. Good lunch spot! read more

I ordered sandwich with French fries. All of them are horrible. And called to ask manager was saying we didn't send burned bread which everyone could see from this photo. I'll keep writing everywhere. You guys should keep the customers but not in that way! read more

There are many Turkish/Mediterranean restaurants in the Edgewater and Cliffside Park. I have been to several of these places but Marmaris Cafe is one of the best. Atmosphere is nice. The food is good. The prices are great. The servers are friendly. I recommend Mamaris Cafe to many friends. They all had good experiences here. I would start with going there for breakfast first. The breakfast is the Best!!! read more

The food was Okay, service.. Not so much. Came into the restaurant at 11am and ordered our appetizers along with our entrees. At 1140, my friends was nearly done with his entree and my food was not given to me yet. The server finally comes to our table to tell me that they had only started grilling at 1130 am. Something they could've mentioned prior to placing the order. Even getting a refill of water was a struggle. Had to wave down the server everytime and to think the restaurant was empty at that time. read more

Great food! We had lahmacun as an appetizer, loved it. Then, as a main course, we had chicken shish kebab and skewered ground lamb. Delicious!!! Best of all was Kunefe with turkish red tea!!! We really enjoyed everything! And Sam was very helpful and very professional. read more

Great food. My favorite is the chicken sish kebab with bulgar. Its served along with a bowl of salad, tortia and chili. The kebabs are tender and tastes awesome. The ambiance is also good. I have been here twice. Once I was in patio and once inside the restaurant. Both the places are comfortable. Overall - Recommend this place ! read more

This is a tough one for me. I'm torn between giving it 3 and 4 stars because I was left dissatisfied by their service. While seemingly friendly, the employees there from server to hostess seemed to be giving 50% in everything they did. It was a bit unwelcoming. Despite the service, the food was quite tasty, which marginally offset the service. The portions, price and taste were all great. The vibe within the place was cozy and quiet (it was lunchtime on a Sunday). One word of advice! If you're planning on ordering the flatbread pita thing that sounds like a pizza OR the Turkish pizza, then you may want to lay off the bread they give you. It's going to be difficult because it's really good, but you're going to OD on carbs and pass out before you can order any coffee. **Apparently their brunch and breakfast items are worth going for. I believe the breakfast platter thing is quite charmer.** read more

Food was excellent. We had the chopped salad, sigar) and the kofte' for appetizers. For the main course we enjoyed the mixed grill. Again...food was wonderful, The cons; BYOB. Service was very slow. No ice to be had anywhere. The mixed grill entree could of been a larger portion. Overall...I definitely would go back, but I will bring my own bottle of wine. read more

Would've been 4 stars if the service was better. The waitress didn't ask how the food was, didn't refill our glasses, and didn't even bring us the check until we waved our hands. The food itself was good, juicy grilled wings, and chicken kebabs. But with so many food choices in that area, it's hard to convince myself to go back anytime soon. read more

I took my family to Marmaris Cafe this weekend, and had a wonderful experience. They create a nice, intimate setting with amazing Turkish dishes that will leave you beyond satisfied. We eat here very often and are always happy with our experience. The food is consistently fresh and delicious and the service is the best! Came here for Turkish breakfast which was delicious. Comfy chairs, nice ambience. Had the breakfast special with lots of different jams, clotted cheese and tea. Really nice experience and I'd go back for a more fulfilling meal at night but thumbs up for breakfast special...quite good. read more

This place is great! I came in for breakfast and it was delicious. The coffee was strong (in the best way possible), the waitress was very attentive and helpful, and the food was delicious and refreshingly different than what you find for breakfast typically. I definitely plan on coming back to try out the lunch and dinner menu! read more

I just had a terrible experience here. After being completely ignored by all the staff while I waited several minutes to be seated (the place was moderately busy, if that) I decided to leave. This establishment seems to cater to a specific demographic and does not appear to welcome anyone who doesn't fit that profile. It's shameful and should not be tolerated. read more

Food and staff are great. Parking is not prime. People double parked when it got busy. Good business, small lot. Also I am confused by the Italian fusion? Why wouldn't you get Turkish food at a Turkish restaurant. Eggplant under the lamb shank was the creamiest eggplant I have ever had. I wanted to melt right along with it. Sad that there wasn't pistachio baklava though. read more

Delicious food! The bread they give you is pipping hot, with a nice crunchy crust and soft inside. We got the shepherd salad, hummus, icli kofte, cop shish kebab and walnut baklava. I loved the shish and the walnut baklava the most, they were both so fresh and juicy! Will definitely come back again! read more

First, let me start by saying that the service was really good. The girl who helped waited on us was attentive, and friendly (very smiley). I also should say that they don't actually have a brunch menu, which is what I was going for. They have a breakfast menu (which ends at 2pm on weekends, which some might define as brunch) and a separate lunch menu. As others have mentioned, parking could be tough when busy, but fortunately we had no issues. The humus, as others have suggested is a must try. Amazing bread. We then had the white bean and lamb casserole (Kuru Fasulye Güveç) and the Lamb Sac Tava, which were good (not great). I'd definitely go back, but I'd try different dishes. I wasn't blown away, but it was good. read more

This is a really nice restaurant with wonderful customer service!! The Lahmacun is soooo worth it for its price!! and really good alongside the Shepard's Salad ! Also got the Pacanga Boregi and though delicious, a little overpriced for just three pastries! The staff were super chill and were super accommodating. I couldn't pronounce the names of the foods so I just pointed at the menu and they didn't laugh at me once :') Cute place VERY cute decor :) Might notice that I forgot to take pics of the food because I was so eager to consume it!! and didn't even get a chance to take a pic of the Pacanha Boregi but can say for sure it was delicious read more

I got an email from new management thru Yelp last month claiming that everything I have mentioned in my previous review has been corrected. I went back and saw that it was all TRUE. Thanks Marmaris Cafe! Now staff is smiling, so do the customers. And music is nicer. Now tap water with a slice of lemon is served free, upon request :) Haldun new Chef/Manager is there to respond professionally. Yes, miracle happened. Marmaris is now back to the good old pleasent brunch and dinner place again. We enjoyed our brunch platters and delicious Menemen with a pot of fresh brewed Turkish black tea. Aaand compliments of the Hatice (Turkish Lady in the Kitchen) the Sucuklu Yumurta was properly cooked and served with whole sucuk slices on top. Well, not just brunch but dinner plates are also delicious and presentable. And it's BYOB! In short, I want to send my gratitude to the owner of The Marmaris Cafe, Hakan bey; for making the right decisions and taking the right steps. After coming here since it opened and over 50 check-ins, it is safe to say the food remains consistently good. There have been 2-3 times that an ingredient in the food was not fresh but it remains made with fresh ingredients and fresh-made dishes, which is very rare in restaurants and cafes in the area in the ever-pressing desire to cut costs and save time. The service is friendly and people seem to enjoy working there. (Sam is the best waiter of any restaurant I've been to in the last year. Proud of the food served there, has suggestions that are right-on, and is on the lookout if a table needs something). Agree with Cy T reviewer that the service and food quality has gone down the drains. The bread is no longer fresh, the breakfast platter is a disaster compared to before. No taste in the tomatoes, no olives unless you ask for them, cheap jam. The salmon was bad quality and overcooked when it was one of their best dishes. The grilled vegetables, which was one of the faves, undercooked and bland. With all the good Turkish places near by, I just don't see how these new management thinks they will survive. Was traveling to New York on a 2 hour trip. Decided I was getting hungry and stopped by this place by the road to extinguish my hunger. Very well designed almost makes me feel like I'm back in the old days. The waiters are very kind and educated, one waiter came to me asking me repeatedly about if my food was tasty or not and dealt with my questions patiently. Very bad management, I was going to there for breakfast almost every weekend. Last time, I went there for lunch, I ordered lamb sauté, it was burned and smelling bad, I gave it back and I told server what was going on. When we got the receipt, they'd charged the lamb sauté. The manager's reason is "green peppers aren't burned so meat cannot be burned" :) What a great solution for being more greedy!!! And also flies are all around on the tables and walls. read more

I really enjoy having brunch/breakfast at Marmaris almost every week, not because it's so close to me, but it's delicious, ambiance is nice, and people are very friendly. We appreciated the sides and variety of sauces that came with our meal. The small cups of mayo, tzatziki, and spicy sauce, along with olives, pepperocinis, and pickled radishes, really helped complete our meal. These small and thoughtful touches made this meal feel more like eating in someone's home kitchen rather than a restaurant. On that note - know that everything is made from scratch and to order, which means the food will take a little longer than you might expect from a fast casual spot. This sweet gem is located on a random street in Hackensack, and a bit hard to find if you're not looking for it because there isn't much to draw attention to it. There's a small parking lot right in front of the restaurant, making it easy to drop in for a quick meal or to-go order.
