Don't shop here Bought 2 black goldfish from them and they both are sick they were fine when we got them but after a week or 2 weeks they got white spots on them and kill one of our expensive goldfish. They put sick fish in there fish tank when they restock them they don't separate them and make sure there healthy or not they don't care. we won't be shopping here anymore we found a better place to get fancy goldfish a little pricey because they are top quality goldfish. This fish store is never busy. But at least the guys working there are quite helpful. They are friendly, and is ready to serve you. They have a good variety of fish inside. But not much in terms of quantity. So take whatever they give you. I bought five salt water snails there, and one already died when I got home. I paid about $1.20 per snail. The other time I paid probably $1.00 each. I guess it depends on their mood or the quantity they have to sell. I do expect them to make a profit, but sometimes it's hard for all of us because we don't know how long the fish or snail will last before it dies. I guess that's the risk we take. Anyhow, they have a good variety stock, good inventory of tanks for sale, and the store is not that big... but good enough. All I could say is negotiate everything you buy. I am giving this place 5 stars because of the customer service and its low low prices! If you mention that you are a yelper you get 20-25% days other than Friday and Sundays but you will need to bring cash. You are also able to bargain with the store owner on the fish you buy so you can perhaps cut more! I come here for Salt Water fish and Corals and there arent that many great stores in the San Gabriel Valley area except PTF in Pasadena. The store is moderate size and had some cool fresh/saltwater fish. This store had a better selection of cichlids, so I enjoyed checking the store out. I should have taken pictures of the fish. Pretty decent sized aquarium, sells many variety of fishes and supplies. Some of the fishes were held in really cramped up tanks, and some were placed in tanks that were obviously way too small. There was even this one tank with giant loach fish and an enormous fish- they were definitely cramped up in there. The good thing about this place is that they sell feeder fish at really great prices. $1 for 13 small ones, $1 for 10 medium, etc etc. I think the prices get cheaper the more you buy. Service? Not so great. I believe the people working there speak cantonese, mandarin, vietnamese, and english. After I had walked around the store many times, one staff member finally came to me and rudely asked me in cantonese "what do you want?". I told him I wanted the feeder fish at the front and proceeded to walk there. He asked me which kind I wanted. I walked to the feeder fish area, but he wasn't following me...I don't know what he was doing, but it seemed like he didn't want to sell me the fish. Told him I wanted the $1 for 13 then he came over and pointed to the small fish and asked if that's what I wanted and how many I wanted... Uh...didn't I just say I wanted 13 of them... He scooped out the fish for me, put in a measly amount of oxygen in and while I was waiting to check out, he was busy joking around with the other staff members. Talk about professionalism... Didn't want to check me out...I was standing around for the longest time until another staff member helped me out. Either that is their way of customer service, or the guy didn't want to do business with me because all I was buying was $1 feeder fish. Maybe I was expecting too much, but many aquariums I had been to had much better levels of professionalism and service. read more

I've been to so many tropical fish stores and this one is by far the best. I love this place! It has all of the rate fish other stores don't have. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and hilarious as well. I got a great deal on my fish and they're extremely heathy and happy. I recommend! If it's not near you it's worth the drive. Love this place. Kent and his team are awesome honest fish enthusiasts themselves so they won't steer you the wrong way. Picked up my Red Sea tank from them about a year ago and have been back for all of my salt water fish needs. Fish, coral, liquids....you name it, they either have it in stock or can get it ordered fast! I would consider myself a savvy online shopper, but shopping for salt water fish and coral doesn't make sense online. Because of the requirements to keep them alive via mail, it's just gets to expensive after you tac on shipping fees. Total Fish doesn't charge an arm and an leg. Their prices are better then what you find online. For those who love the ambiance that having a salt water tank brings to a home or business, Kent also does custom rank set ups. I know Kent's work is legit because he just completed a 500 gallon in-wall automated reef setup for my cousin house a few months ago and it looks amazing. DO NOT GO HERE! I had been coming here since 2014, buying a wide range of fish and products from this business, generally pretty helpful, until the last year when it has become unprofessional, the product is of low quality (I have shopped around, including a wholesaler), and the service is the absolute worst! I have spent thousands of dollars at this place of business and would have considered myself a very loyal customer until recently when I bought a French angelfish from this place and two days later it died! I bought it without realizing it already had ick on it but I thought it would be fine, yet it wasn't and died. A week before this happened I bought a few butterfly fish and they are happy and alive still, so I know it's not my tank but the shop that caused this issue. I called them up thinking they would honor my purchase being a customer for a long time and had spent a lot of money on goldfish, discus, and various other types of fish--they did not honor it and said they could give me $30 bucks towards another fish?! That has to be the biggest insult I have ever received as a customer of a place for so long. That's how much it costs in gas for me to get there and let me tell you, there are tons of better places to get fish besides this place. The goldfish, koi, and every fish he has are of very low quality and it's rare to get a nice looking one because he buys them in big quantities for cheap. Spend your money elsewhere, you won't be treated well here and you will most likely lose out on a lot of money! His fish are super expensive as well, I can get an emperor angelfish at wholesale for 200 and it's huge! The one he had was super small and he was charging 200, his prices are ridiculous for what he is giving you. Take your business elsewhere to Apex Aquariums in Culver City, they are really amazing, ask for Rick, he's the owner and always super helpful and nice! read more

Some of the fish are hurt which means theyre being kept in tanks a little bit too small for them. My roommate bought some otto ciclids from them that didnt last too long. The owner Ken is extremely rude and mean. I have purchased a lot of stuff from Ken for more than 6 years here. He promised me will help to replace part for the Jebo filter I bought here if the filter has problem. But when the filter stop working and my fish is going to die, I come to Ken to ask help and he "face off " immediately and yell to me very loudly " I didn't make money from replace the part at only $15" . Been to this LFS for couple times cos in the area and lazy to drive to another LFS. This will never be my top priority spot to pay a visit especially I have other option that is closer to my house. Pro: store is clean, livestock are healthy, good selection and ..... (oops, i think that's it for the Pro) Con: Open around noon or later so don't waste ur time to get there early in the morning. Owner can be a "D" if he's in a bad mood (if u walk in and saw him giving u a "F U" look and feel the negative vibe, get out immediate). Only once in awhile he will be happy and chatty but the odds is like hitting the jackpot on lotto. Price - no set price, need to use ur swap meet negotiation skill to get a decent/reasonable price or else be ready to get rip off. Overall: Pay a visit if u r in the area around afternoon and cross ur finger that u see a happy owner when u walk in the store or else don't worth the time. read more

The selection here can be pretty good, but the owner is kind of a jackass. They get a lot of fancy plecos and other hard-to-find find fish. I've also seen some big datnoids, Peacock bass, and other big fish. Some of it is really pricey but some is pretty cheap too. Just depends what you're after. I bought a gold nugget pleco for $25 and I thought it was a great price. The owner never looks happy to see you. You can bargain with him, but if he doesn't like your offer, you'll get some dirty looks and he'll talk a little shit about you in Mando under his breath. Overall it's an OK store. read more

Overall: Salt water selection is alright. This ranks up there to be one of the worst fish stores I've been in. The only reason they aren't the worst is that they test water and their water is cheap @ 25cents/gal as of this post. Price: Over priced, severely. Cleanliness/Friendliness/Knowledge: Like I've mentioned in the overview, don't be walking in here without knowing a thing or two. They may have something unique that you might like - so swing by but if you're there to learn and get some advice, none of their workers can really help you out. They seem very understaffed at times. I do agree that this place have some nice fishes and all, but i was browsing through the idles and i see a whole tank of dead guppies. I was soo shocked..... and my main goal for going there was to check out what kind of guppies they had and their prices. I asked the guy up front if i could buy the guppies in the other tank and he gave me such a mean look. My mom was there with me too and she was like can you get some that are healthy and more energetic for her (me). The guy was like " no you can't choose, you get what you get!" And then my mom was like "can you make sure its the right amount she wanted?" The guy gives us both another mean face expression and was like:"It's impossible to count them so you get what you get!" I was like omg! what terrible service!! then we walked around and saw some pretty goldfishes and my mom told him to get it for us again. He was talking to some guy, but when he was coming he looked so pissed off and annoyed by us. He got the goldfish we wanted and like he didnt even give it to me he tied the bad up and threw it on the table. The bag got all wet dirty from the table and it made me even more mad. He was really rude and i would never want to go to this place again!! i went to another pet shop the next day and i found it so much more friendly and inexpensive. I would rather recommend you guys go to C K Aquarium located on san gabriel blvd. This place had really unhealthy fish, some of the goldfishes they had in the back were in such terrible conditions. The water was soo yellow that some of the goldfishes were swimming on its sides and were about to die. Not only are they unfriendly to their customers, they can't even take care of the fish they are selling. I own some guppies at home and how TERRIFYING is it to see a whole tank full of dead guppies! The products there are also really dirty. My sister wanted to buy another heater for the tank, the place did not have a large variety. We found one but the packaging was soo disgusting it looked like it fell in some water and then thrown in some dirt.... and they only have that one available. I would not suggest you to go to this place especially since the fish is really unhealthy and and the products there are really expensive. When I walked in the store the place wasn't that clean and did not expect the place to be so expensive. Some of the stuff there also did not have their prices labeled so be aware if they rip you off. Especially since me and my mom received such crappy service i would not want to come here again. read more

I love salt water aquariums - corals and fish. But I am also a two year newbie, just breaking into SPS. This place may rate well as a fresh water aquarium store but I do not know how to evaluate that. Frankly, I have not paid that much attention. I have been visiting this fish store for the past few months. The owner Ken is a real nice guy and manages it casualy. The display salt water tanks are beautiful. One is a hobby tank from where they also frag. There are also two flat tanks 4' x 6 or 7' with corals on egg crate, one row of acrylic divided for different livestock, and another row on the wall with upper and lower tanks divided. The fish selection is rather limited, and the coral selection is not as great as Pasadena Tropical Fish. Ken supplies ocean water from Scripps which he raves about and so far I have had good experience with. For this and the better prices on livestock, I like coming here. Uncle kenny was very attentive and very knowledgeable guy when it comes to these animals. I had killed off 2 fish and he had given me a fair refund on a brand new fish. Came here solely for the purpose of getting some salt water. Let me tell you their prices are cheap! And they got everything! The owner is a super friendly guy. I recently started building my tank, so I'm not too familiar with the differences in stuff. He was cool enough and explained to me how valuable and important real sea water is to my tank. Again super cool dude and I'm sure he'll help you answer any questions too. They also got a huge variety of salt water fishes and corals. And I ended up getting 3 fishes and 2 corals. I was searching for a place to get Saltwater for my water changes...usually I would drive about 10 miles to find a place...Total fish was fairly close to me so I thought i would give it a shot. I am really glad I went there. The people were friendly. I was greeted immediately and was told to take my time and browse the store. Most places just want you to buy and leave so they can get the next sale. this place walked with me and explained just about every fish that I was looking at. They had a HUGE moray eel that was just too big for them to keep. I was given a great price for the eel and I had to pick it up.
