I got my flowerhorn "Buddy" from this store. The owner gave me a good deal on him and he is a very gentle and friendly flowerhorn. I've had him for a year now and he is very healthy and playful, like a puppy! He loves mangos and bananas! His favorite color is pink, but he hates the color red. He has favorite stuffed animals that he chases around when I hold them in front of the tank. He's a great fish and very intelligent. The owner seemed fairly nice when I bought the flowerhorn from him. He gave me some water from his tanks so I can quick start the nitrogen cycle in mine. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. His flowerhorns seem quite healthy and I got lucky with "Buddy" -- he's an awesome fish. read more

Decent LFS that has a good amount of freshwater variety. They also had a pretty good selection of foods for fish like parrots, flowerhorn, and cichlids. They had some new butterfly kois and discus when I came in. Ken was very friendly in answering our questions and made it feel more like an experience than a transaction. After eating across the street i decided to drop by and see what they got, the guys who work there don't seem very happy to see anyone and always seem in a bad mood. I also was curious in a salt water jbj full led reef nano tank, they quoted me some ridiculous price, about 200 more than another place did, and he claimed to have the cheapest prices around. i think not. Be careful when buying your salt water from this place, a friend who makes his own water told me when you buy water from stores make sure the water is clear or clean as long as it is not yellow it should be good, this place the water has a yellow hue when i was bringing it out to my car, didn't think much of it but after awhile running their water, my tank would be growing all this algae contaminating my tank. As of now i only use the water from my friends house and so far i don't have all the algae growing from dirty water. The fishes the display for salt water don't look too happy either, where they keep the fishes is so boring they all look like they're in jail in such tiny square holding tanks. Poor fishes... i don't think ill be coming here anymore even though it's about 5 minutes away from my house. I just went to this store and am i upset! They charged me 75 for a refractometer to measure salinity for my salt water tank. You know whats shady business, when you get home and you find out the thing you paid 75 dollars for USED and is brand new for $62.99 on amazon. Talk about ridiculous. I just got home from returning the item for a full refund, i told him that he told me a used one because it was missing a black cap for the adjustment screw, and there was rust. he said "i didn't sell you a used one" i told him to look at this. Speaking kind of loudly and he told me to "please don't be yelling" i am guessing he doesn't want his customers to know hes a shady seller. i don't think i am ever going back to this pet store. Ken is very pleasant, and for what others want this place might be great. As a koi fancier I was impressed with his collection of meduim to large koi, having arrived the day after a new shipment. My intent was to buy a butterfly koi I had seen on my last visit. Its markings were a bit faded but with some krill and fresh air... well maybe... and the price was right. HOWEVER the display pool had a dead koi in it, one that had been just shipped in. I was distressed that there was a dead fish, but more distressing was his explanation - which inadvertently revealed that Total does not quarantine its new fish on arrival. Quality koi dealers wait three or more weeks before introducing new fish to their sales tanks. As nice as Ken is, I will definitely get my fish elsewhere. read more

I had a wonderful experience. I showed Ken pictures of my sick 10 year old goldfish who had fin rot and ulcers on his side. Ken instructed me to use rock salt and NovAqua water conditioner and it did the trick. My goldfish is almost completely healed after a week and a half. The tanks for the fish are small and dirty, fish are way overpriced and service isn't the best. Definitely won't be returning, most of there salt tanks are covered in slime and scum and there saltwater fish have ick. there live rock is way overpriced and ruined my reef tank. It has bristle worms and other unwanted pesk. the freshwater side was even worse, the Fh were crammed in small tanks. The tanks were literally the size of the bag they came in. First off there is an owner, and a co - owner. The owner who is skinny asian and has a pair of glasses as he is a D- Bag and he can care less about you. The Co - owner who is a little around 5'7 darker asian and a little buffer is much more willing to help, friendlier, and willing to give you a better price. The water quality of this place where the fish is being sold is dirty. This place is over price than knocks it down to give you a discount for a "normal" price in what every where else charges. If you pay cash with request he will give you the "no tax" price, credit card will charge you tax. It seems like he only take cares of fishes that are expensive and leave algae and dirty stuff all over the cheaper fresh water and salt water tanks. DO yourself a favor go to Superpets in temple city for fresh water fish they may charge tax and cost a little more but all their fish is healty, refundable, and EXTREMELY friendly staff always wanting to help. If you like fresh water shrimp i suggest A + tropical fish as this place does not carry any shrimp at all. The darker Asian guy is saving this place to becoming a 1-2 star place. yes there are corals but everything seems to be 10-20 percent more than everyone else. Just for fyi i've been there many times at and every time is the same. I still go there to just buy salt water as that is the closest location to my house. read more

Everyone knows this place is famous for their exclusive connection to the best Flowerhorn, but it's actually my favorite coral shop too. If you're paying attention, you'll surely find a hidden rare coral gem at a great price. The prices in general on both livestock and drygoods are excellent. If they don't have it, they can get it... just ask. Even though the new location is a few miles more for me to drive, I don't mind. There's always parking and the store in general is much more spacious. I'd really recommend that Alex give them another try. A year later and I'd say the place is now fully stocked (maybe overstocked!) 5 stars all the way. I don't even bother to go to PTF anymore to be honest. read more

Honestly a lot better than I expected. They have a pretty decent stock of fancy goldfish especially Ranchus. They also have a pearlscales and crown pearlscales, not a lot of store have them at adult size. They have a healthy tropical and marine section are well. The employee I talked to was friendly although he did not approach me he was still very helpful. There are some overstocking issues and some health problems on certain fish a lot less so than your normal pet store. I am very pleased to have this store near me.
