First time trying this place. We were seated right away. We ordered chicken fried steak with o'briens, eggs and toast and then 2 pancakes, eggs and links set. When it came out, my chicken fried steak was steaming and it kept steaming for a long time. The server asked if I wanted the o'briens extra crispy (she recommended it) and it was very crispy and very good. Huge portions for both meals. Light casual atmosphere. Will definitely go back soon to try the other breakfast items! They had so many staff working, which made the services super fast. Definitely worth it to go back. read more

The food took forever, the coffee was bitter. But, the service was great. Everyone pitches in serving, cleaning tables, very friendly. My eggs looked boiled, tasted & looked like rubber. The potatoes OBrian werent O'Brian, they were O'Blarney, the peppers & Onions were over cooked had no taste. AND WHERES THE MUSIC, NO ATMOSPERE! Just a bunch of old people gabbing away. read more

Some of the friendliest staff that I've ever met while stationed at Everett Naval Station. The portion sizes are enormous, and the taste is amazing. I highly recommend this place for anyone that's in the area. The prices are reasonably done. We even had a ton of leftovers. I would recommend splitting the Monster. Go here for breakfast! read more

Big portions with big flavor! That's what this restaurant is to me. I've been here twice now with my fiancée and both times when you see the food come out, all you can think is wow that's a lot of food. This last trip, I was in a sweet mood so I got the kid's Jr. European French toast and my fiancée got bacon, eggs and hash brown. The French toast seems to actually be made out of biscuits instead of toast, which probably doesn't matter as much because I drown both in maple syrup! They were packed full of baking spices and I loved the sliced almond on top, giving it a little bit of a crunch. I wish I grabbed a picture of it, but my fiancée's plate was huge! The amount of hash brown and eggs you get makes you wonder how they're making money haha. My fiancée also doesn't normally like thick cut bacon but this was cooked perfectly where it has a really nice crunch on the outside. We absolutely love this place and I'm sure we'll be here again before we leave Seattle. read more

We have been to Totem Family Dining several times over the past 10 years, always for breakfast. This is an awesome, old school greasy spoon restaurant that seems to be an institution in Everett. A recent time we were here they had a special sausage/bacon roll that they only make sparingly. I had it and it was really meaty, yummy and unique. The prices are pretty much on average and the service was very good with consistent coffee checks and refills. Each time I'm here with the kids we get them hot cocoas and they are always elaborately prepared. We love those little touches. It's those things that will keep us returning to Totem Family Dining. read more

I lived in Everett for almost 10 years before I discovered Totem Diner! Why did no one tell me?? This has become my go to breakfast/lunch spot. Literally every single thing on the menu is super tasty. Portions are huge so I will guarantee you'll never leave hungry, though you might leave with a to-go box. The staff are very friendly and attentive, even though they're rushed off their feet during service. There's always a smile served with your order, and you get even more if you offer one in return. If you're in the mood for a sweet breakfast be sure to try the Cornish cream. Decadently delicious and the best I've had! read more

Fantastic service, delicious foods in huge portions. This place is 5 stars and more! Found it via Yelp, during our stay in Everett, and were so glad we did. It's not that big, so there was a little wait. I can see it being busy on the weekend, but it's worth the wait. Something as simple as toast, but when you find a great breakfast spot with fantastic toast, you know you've hit jackpot. I'm a sucker for thick, toasty on the outside chewy on the inside sourdough toast, and let's just say Totem has one of thee best I've ever had. The giant fluffy biscuit is also a must. The local jam is delicious as well, not overly sweet. The bacon is thick cut and plentiful. The hashbrowns are perfect! The eggs are fresh. The corned beef hash is phenomenal. The golden, fluffy pancakes are amazing. Hats off to the chefs and cooks. And to the friendly staff, y'all just keep doing what you're doing. Great job, overall! read more

It's a quaint mom and pop breakfast spot! Although, they are open for more than just breakfast. The service was good. It was fairly busy but our server, he was attentive. I can't remember his name. The food was delicious ! We felt some kind of way so yes we did have their bottomless coffee along with a strawberry milkshake (with chunks of strawberries in it) and a Chocolate Malt. Both absolutely delicious! The food was quite flavourful and fulfilling!! Eggs Benedict isn't the best for left overs but I still got to enjoy the next day (I eat like a bird so I always have left overs). My boyfriend, loved his corn Hash. His waa a huge serving so he had a little bit left over as well and he enjoyed it just as much the second time. Will definitely be coming back. read more

This is one of, if not my favorite diners in Everett and it is sorely missed since leaving Everett. The general atmosphere is very comfortable and homey. Me and my Fiancee enjoy booth seating and it is fortunate that almost all the seating here are booths. The lay out is small however so if you go on a weekend you will likely have to wait. That being said, they are fast to clean open tables and we have never had to wait longer than 10-15 minutes. All the interactions that we've had with servers have been great and they are always smiling and fast to refill coffee. Like most diners the selection of breakfast and lunch options are almost endless from scramble and omelettes to waffles and pancakes to burgers and sandwiches. All of which are at a very reasonable price. The portions are huge and we usually leave with enough for breakfast the following day. Every time we go, it usually takes a couple minutes to decide as everything always sounds so good. So far I've tried the biscuit barge, the country fried chicken, make-your-own omelette, and the strawberry waffles. And I've never been disappointed. Their homemade Potato O'brien's are also phenomenal and the plates are typically piled high with them. I personally prefer breakfast options and have yet to try any of their burgers or sandwiches; although from what I've seen come out of the kitchen, I'm sure they are just as good. read more

This place is the cutest little diner. The seating set up is comfortable. The staff are super nice and helpful, the food is delicious. It's a family-friendly place. Traditional hometown local breakfast joint that I remember as a kid. Large servings and fresh ingredients. The corn beef hash was some of the best I have had in a long time. Can get really busy on the weekend, but worth the wait. The decor has not been updated since the 70s or 80s, so if your into that laid back vibe this place is for you. read more

Totem Family Dining is the real deal. It's got a big selection of diner-style food served up without pretention. I ordered a patty melt with the hand-cut fries (my server called them "skin on" fries). The sandwich was grilled to a perfect golden brown and had a good balance of beef, cheese, and onions. If anything, the two hamburger patties were a bit more thanI needed. It was a tad greasy, but what do you expect from a classic American greasy spoon? The fries were great. Cut thinner than most hand-cut fries--more like shoestring. I left very satisfied. If you want classic American food served up in a friendly environment, you won't be disappointed by Totem. read more

Sitting between 44th and Evergreen with a small section to park tucked away on a back street. To Tom is definitely worth the drive. Small diner that is full usually a small two to three minute wait. The dining area was clean and free of cold French fries between the seats or on the floor. The staff is fast and very knowledgeable about food options. No chicken sausages or many substitutes. A great place for breakfast. We discovered Totem a few years ago when we traveled north to vacation in the San Juans. Delicious food. The portions are large, the service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. We left feeling refreshed and with full bellies, fueled to continue our journey. Now, every time my family is traveling north through Everett, we always try to time it so we can stop at Totem for breakfast. read more

For the past three years my family has favorited Totem as a weekend staple. Of all the spots for breakfast this will forever be our go to. Everything you look for in a wholesome local diner you will find here at Totem. Pro's: even though there is always a wait it never takes more than 20 minutes to be seated. The service is 10/10, food portions 10/10, price points 10/10, cleanliness 10/10, food itself 100% on point every time and the menu revolves plus it's super extensive! Best of all the billboard out front always sports the funniest Jokes Cons: the wait each time and nothing more! read more

One word to describe this place...'Merica!!! Just a nice homely setting....was seated right away in a booth... ordered a cup a coffee...got a glass a water....the menu was extensive for breakfast and Lunch/Dinner...so had to look at the best options...soamy options...eggs Benedict...pigs in a blanket (which my son said looked like they served professor Hulk in the movie Avengers Endgame)...finally decided on #15 (???) which was three eggs your way...Choice of meat (went with bacon)...choice of potatoes (O'Brien's potatoes) and the toast!!! When the plate came it was AWESOME!!! The food was "on point"...the bacon was to die for!!! My wife enjoyed her omelette and my son chose to eat a lil' lighter!!! Alisha (our waitress) was DA BEST!!! She stayed on top of refills and helped me choose my meal by lookin' at a pic of the Yelp app...GREAT JOB Alisha!!! Our favorite part of the restaurant was that behind us we sat behind two elderly gentlemen that were enjoying there conversation about the world...of that's not America....I don't know what is...the place just made you feel at home!!! Alisia our waitress was great , my coffee cup always refilled . Great prices , we saw more than one person leave with a carry out box because of the huge portions . Mid. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here, the food was alright but nothing to write home about, everything was too salty and the potatoes were undercooked, if your not picky and will eat anything, come here, if you want good food, head into downtown Everett, theres plenty of Diners with better food. read more

This is the place to go when we have family friendly breakfast dates, no mimosas haha. The food is consistently good, although I would say to stick to the hash browns as your potato side. There is typically a longer wait but it's just a reflection of how it overall stays consistent with their good service. Parking can be a little tricky so be sure to drive slow and keep your eyes peeled. read more

It shows me the business really cares about how it comes across. Our food was prepared and served very fast. My friend was still in the restroom by the time it had come. As you can see from the image, my Japchaebap was awesome. (Order with tofu if you're vegan) I got mild spice just because I am sensitive to *too much* spice. But as someone who enjoys spice I couldn't really perceive it. So if you have a good spice tolerance I'd suggest you up the spice one more level than you would think. The flavoring was great, but I don't really like the noodle texture. I prefer them with more weight. It was a slight challenge getting them onto the fork, and it being stable enough to put into your mouth. Just something to consider when choosing your dish. I'm still glad I chose to experience the dish. Maybe I'll learn to like this style of noodle. Special note if you're vegan too: the kimchi has shellfish, so skip any menu items with the asterisks that have kimchi in the ingredients. Thankfully my friends caught that because I would've missed it as it's below another note.

We always bring family here for a nice dinner night when they visit from out of town, and it has been consistent since 2021 until Thursday, August 27th. We always order the same drinks, as they are our favorite. I enjoy the Limoncello Drop, and my husband always gets the Bloody Mary. I order mine with raspberry-infused vodka, and my husband gets the jalapeño-infused. His is always spicy, but flavorful. Mine is always tart and sweet. This time was different. Mine was just sweet and had a dried citrus slice floating in it, which is not how it has ever been served. My husband's Bloody Mary had a wooden stick in it and no garnish. There has never been a floating garnish in my drink, and the Bloody Mary has always come with a garnish. Sometimes it is roasted garlic, green olives, and lime. Sometimes an herb sprig and jalapeño slice; another time was garlic, jalapeño, lime, and rosemary sprig. It has never come without the care of a garnish. Additionally, his cocktail tasted terrible. It was just hot. No flavor, just hot and off-tasting. He sent it back, and later the bartender came by to apologize and said the lime juice was off and they had replaced it. He offered a new drink, which my husband declined. For dinner, we shared the Puget Sound Steamers, and for the first time the broth was bland. We usually sop up as much as we can with the bread, but it was just flavorless. I was not able to order my usual dinner selection of the Alaskan Chowder because they were out, which has never happened before, but it was not a huge deal, so I chose the Caprese Salad instead, and it was okay. My husband ordered the Rustic Mac + Cheese; we have both ordered this many times, and it has always been delicious except for this night. It tasted off too, very pasty. Almost as if the flour had not been cooked enough in the béchamel, or perhaps too much flour? It was so bland and pasty that it was sent back, too. When we spoke to the server about the mac + cheese and that it tasted like uncooked or pasty flour, she said there was no flour in it, only cheese. The menu describes the dish as a creamy béchamel, which is a flour-based sauce, so her answer surprised me. I did not press it. Sending food back is not something we enjoy doing, and we left disappointed. We were not charged for the returned items, and we appreciated that. My husband declined a replacement, so he ended up with no dinner, and we stopped somewhere else on the way home. Something was different across both the bar and the kitchen that night. I hope it was a one-off, because five years of consistency earned this place a lot of goodwill with us. At these prices, we expect more, and my husband is reluctant to go back.

A food lovers paradise. I visited the Totem restaurant, and I was rewared with a delicious bacon-burger. As a self proclaimed foodie I could easily, tell that all of the burger was carefully prepared, and that the ingredients were high quality and wholesome. It was easily the best bacon-burger I've had the pleasure of feasting upon. The meat was full, the tomato was a crisp and fresh, and the fries were delicious. Near the end of my meal the owner of the Totem, Alicia introduced herself. She was so sweet and completely understood how to flare up the meals. She was so nice, she was passionate about her business, and was warm person. Alicia really was able to connect with family and I on a personal level. She explained how she was foodie and wanted to have customers have a real experience at her restaurant She was sweet enough to introduce us to her desserts (we decided to go with a cinnamon and a few pieces of lemon pie). The cinnamon roll was delicious, baked with love, huge, and included a side of cheese cake topping. The lemon was cake was a wonderful confection that captured the perfect flavor of lemon, it even included a nice personalizing touch of a cookie on top (Alicia even even included a few extra pieces for me to have) Needless to say, the meal, service, dessert and even the owner were all perfect. Totem Family Dining beats out all competition, no other family restaurant open first dining has got me hooked. I had a wonderful, re-memorable experience. The Totem Diner is one of those places that feels like a hidden gem... except apparently everyone already knows about it. If you're anywhere nearby, it's worth the stop--but be prepared to wait. We chatted with a regular while waiting who told us his grandparents' photo is hanging on the wall and that there's always a wait... because it's that good. He wasn't wrong. We only waited about 10-15 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad considering it was a Friday morning before Memorial Day. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for from a diner that's been around since 1953--classic, old-school, and full of character. One of my favorite parts was listening to people chatting across booths asking things like, "What did you order?" and "That's so much food!" It had a warm, community feel that made the whole place feel welcoming. The food is classic diner fare done well. Everything was delicious, and the portions are HUGE. Definitely come hungry or plan to leave with leftovers. Judging by the number of to-go boxes around us, most people were leaving with enough for another meal or two. And the staff? Exactly what you'd want in a busy diner--friendly, efficient, and great at balancing conversation with keeping things moving. My wife and I had an exceptional experience, and we wanted to express our thanks. We were fortunate to have Kacey as our server, and she truly made our visit memorable. Kacey's enthusiasm for the restaurant and the food was infectious, and she took the time to talk to my wife and me about how great the dishes are. Her friendly demeanor and excellent service added a personal touch to our meal. We decided to split the Farmers Market Omelet, and it was absolutely delicious. We both loved how the avocado was prepared--it was fresh and perfectly ripe, adding a delightful creaminess to the omelet. Additionally, we shared one pancake, which was light, fluffy, and flavorful. The Staff, and then owner DEMANDED that he get up from a booth (in a half empty restaurant - off peak times) and move to the counter to eat his breakfast and drink his coffee!!! We had eaten there many times when his father owned/ran the place with such great customer service - This son is a punk and was WAY OUT OF LINE. Our family will NEVER eat there again!!! Also, the prices have gone above market, the restrooms are poorly stocked and awkwardly designed, the parking is DANGEROUS along Evergreen. The Totem Family Diner far surpassed my wildest expectations. Our family of four was immediately greeted with a smile and seated in the well occupied diner. I ordered the famous Louisiana style chicken fried steak while my husband chose to build his own omelet, my daughter stuck with the fruit waffle and my little tot got the Jr breakfast . Our waitress suggested we snack on the "little" cinnamon roll while we waited for our food to arrive. Our food came out at a record breaking speed and the $4 cinnamon roll was big enough to easily feed a family of four. Each of us devoured our food (even my picky littles) but what was truly impressive was the service. Everyone who worked there had a smile on their face even though the place was packed! They wouldn't let me get anything even that way, since I had mentioned I was delivering it to someone. I never felt so unwelcome at a business before. I meant no harm. We both opted for water, in which they had a water station for you to fill a cup and sit down. After sipping my water I noticed the glass I had was chipped and cracked, a chard actually chipped off in my hand. I took it back up to the front and exchanged it. Probably not the best idea to have all of the glasses stacked on top of on another. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich, in which upon ordering they had to check if they were ready to serve that. I was lucky enough that they were, although I did have a back up plan. The turkey sandwich came out with a mixed green salad with a dressing I was not sure of, but was very refreshing. The wedge salad came out and idk how it was marketed as wedge when it was a bowl of salad completely engulfed in dressing(closer to soup than salad). Next the fries and onion rings came out and I'm not usually a stickler for what things cost, but $17 for like 6 onion rings and a very sad plate of fries. We expected a bit more for what we ordered for the table. Lastly the wings. While the flavoring of the wings were good, they came out not too warm to the touch and biting into them they were cold on the inside. Concerned that we may get sick from uncooked meat they assured us that they were precooked and just dropped into the fryer to finish them off. To me it is concerning that though they were precooked and still missed on hearing them all way, you may need to have a chat with your kitchen. Both of the servers were on top of it and ran both dozens back to have our order recooked. Second time around they were hot and crispy with good flavor(although the garlic boom boom wings were missing one of the sauces the second time around). It didn't matter, we ate them and paid. Not sure we will put this on our revisit list. Maybe the burgers or flatbread were the way to go, but out of 3 menu items and even the drinks.... There needs to be much more effort to everything here...
