J Resort's The Buffet has all you can eat crab legs daily along with themed food stations for $38.99 per person. On Tuesdays, they feature buy-one-get-one free! And, player card holders pay $3 less per person. It's a pretty awesome deal. I've only had great service at The Buffet. The waiters get our drink orders fulfilled and check on us regularly to remove dishes or refill drinks or offer coffee at the end of the meal. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Food stations are kept tidy and the myriad of desert offerings is always impressive. Our recent visit was on par. Food was decent, not great. Choices are good but it's a smallish buffet. However, the crab legs were delicious and they kept the tray filled. The desserts were awesome - cheesecake bites, fruit tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, blueberry cobbler, apple cinnamon bread pudding. Unfortunately, their frozen yogurt/ice cream machine wasn't working though. Definitely worth a visit on a Tuesday evening if you're on the fence about trying The Buffet.

Came for the BOGO buffet on Tuesday nights. We got there at about 6pm and had to wait in line for about 20 min, not terrible. Now we must say the service is super friendly! But they are very short staffed. Our waiter was wonderful but overwhelmed with the amount of people flooding in. It would take him 10-20 min to refill our drinks because of the amount of people. Now... the place was not clean. The floors were filthy with food, no matter where you stepped. The tables had leftover food for roughly an hour before the busboy came to clean it up. The food was mediocre at best... we were excited for the crab, BUT THE CRAB WAS SUUUUUPER SALTY and a bit dry, I felt like I drank the ocean. This made it borderline impossible to eat. We did not get seconds. (Maybe this is a strategy?) The prime rib on the other hand was decent, no complaints on it. We also tried the fish, very dry. The Thai shrimp was good. But the clams were so dehydrated, every other bite had pieces of shell or sand. My wife advised the clam chowder was actually really good, that it had a special seasoning to it. The dessert was actually the better half of the experience. Yes, by about 730, they stopped making things, but if you ask nicely, they might be able to fill some of your orders. The cream puffs were my favorite, cookies were okay, crème brûlée and the fruit tart were good. Overall food: 2.5 Overall service: 4.

BOGO (buy one / get one free) and Buffets go together like PB & J. They just do. And so does the Buffet at J Resorts offers BOGO on Tuesdays for all player card holders. The Buffet restaurant area is nice, bigger than it looks. The staff work hard and seemed to be always there to clear plates and offer refills. The buffet itself is not the biggest in the world but they seemed to have the right foods on offer so that you never felt you were missing out. The seafood selection is legit, with Crab Legs taking center stage. There is a strong offering of shrimp (prepared in a variety of ways), steamed clams and a couple types of fish. I can work with this. For the carnivores, Prime Rib is the star. The Prime Rib was very good, full of flavor but not dry nor over cooked. Along side of the prime rib was a Turkey Breast. They also served grilled chicken, Bulgoki style ribs and tradtional pork ribs. There was a full on Baked Potato Bar, with proper mutant sized potatoes with all the fixings. The dessert section seemed to go on forever, with a solid selection of cakes, tarts, mousse and other treats. There was soft serve ice cream and a large selection of freshly baked cookies. BOGO and Buffets go together like PB&J. For roughly $20 (with BOGO), the Buffet at J Resorts offered a good selection of quality foods at a value of a price.

We decided to try out the buffet at J Resort tonight! Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Dessert: 10/5 Food was alright. They were a bit too salty for my taste, but they put out smaller portions so the food seemed to stay fresh. Now, let's talk about crab legs. I didn't expect much, thinking it wouldn't have much meat (like most all you can eat crab legs offered at the buffets), but we were surprised how it was 80~85% full of meat! They ask you if you want your crab legs heated up, so that's an option! Prime rib was really good too! Buffet was smaller than the others, which meant their selections were smaller, but it doesn't necessarily mean bad! Dessert was the highlight! They had a TON of selections and we all agreed it was the best part! Their eclair and chocolate covered strawberries were soooo yummy! The restaurant itself was smally and had cozy feels. It didn't get too crowded or too loud either. Service was amazing! Everyone was so helpful and friendly! Will we go back? Possibly. Every night, they change up the specials so we might go back for one of them....or maybe it's worth going back just for the desserts!

Inside J Resorts, the Buffet is on the second floor above the escalator. It has every day price of 32.99 for adults and 16.99 for child. And the price includes soft drinks. Seating is spacious and they don't cram you together. Service is good as our used plates got cleaned up quickly and I can see our server working none stop among his tables and also chatting with his guests. The Buffet is good with desserts, crème brûlée is so good that I ate 2! A variety of tarts and pastries. They even have a cookie bar which in comparison to other items is a waste of calorie quota. The prime ribs are good, the BBQ ribs are soft and juicy. The clam chowder soup is loaded with clams but a bit too salty. The vegetables dishes are too salty, the suckling pig is too dry, the fish (rock fish and mahi mahi) are too dry and overcooked. Sushi was not available the whole dinner time we were there. The appetizer counter was very limited. There were no crab legs but 4 different styles of shrimps but were almost all gone. There are lots of potatoes, Mac and cheese, diner rolls and mashed potatoes. So the whole menu is more for kids.

Got here about an hour before closing on a Wednesday night,It was not busy when we got there but weirdly enough it got crowded as they got closer to closing. Food here was ok, not sure if it's because the food had been sitting so long. Wednesday was bbq day. Had some ribs, pulled port, and other items I don't recall. Prime rib was dry and I didn't see any au jus. Over all buffet price is pricey for lack selection. I will say their best items I tried were the soups, they were delicious, better than the other buffet I tried that week. Besides that the rest of the food was meh.I don't know if it's was the time we arrived or if that's just how the food is all day. If you're looking for food,to sustain you than this place is ok, but if your looking for higher quality buffet items, this is not the place. Horrible worker

Food was okay. The waiter who waited us was great. However this lady is in the photo, who I believe is a hostess was horrible. We had a party of about 10 and after about 30 Minutes of us eating this women in the photo rushed over to our table and accused us of sneaking a person in. She asked my husband 3x "Is it you? He had a hat on." After we kept telling her we don't know what she is talking bout she walked away super fast. After processing how disrespectful she was we met her at the front desk and asked her about her behavior and accusations. She turned her back to us and tried to ignore us. We spoke to a supervisor and all he could say was "I'll talk to her". No apology from her. I took this photo of her seating a party and told her she'll be on Yelp and corporate will be contacted and she responded "go ahead" and kept walking.

Time tax: Unless you are rolling with someone in a higher tier of the players club you are going to wait. Sad but true, Maybe I was at fault for arriving as late as I did around 7:20pm but I wasn't sat until closer to 8:30. The line was peculiar. So many people skipped ahead. There was only one person at the register. Occasionally the nice blonde manager lady would come over and ring a few parties up, the line went fast for a few seconds, but the chap at the register only worked fast when the manager came by. Otherwise he took his sweet time, he'd only rush if another VIP waiting to skip the line showed up. It was often, this buffet is popular and the skippers show up in force, especially late. Server Attention Tax: the servers on a normal day work hard, they close at 9:00, they warn you when 9 approaches and it's a wrap, on the seafood buffet days they are not motivated, because they stay late. They act like they aren't getting paid for the extra time. I sat down around 8:25 and no one took my drink order till like 8:40. I was worried I would get a single plate but to my surprise they didn't shut down shop right at 9:00 in fact they were still seating people. So that was cool. But the servers are in no rush. I don't want to get all Mr. Rogers about it, but if you get me my beverages sooner, I'll get out of your hair sooner, you are literally prolonging your own suffering here. The seafood Tax Rebate: the seafood is good, fresh fish, crab legs and all the regular sides. Crab is offered seasoned crab boil style or plain steamed, make sure to wander around. Overall: I love to eat good, I'm not crazy about flights, hotels or hardware stores because I don't think value necessarily is affected by where you go. (There are a few exceptions) I think service flavors cuisine, Here the service isn't adding a respectively great flavor. Sure if you spend a lot of money here you should get some priority but even Vegas doesn't forget about the little guy. I felt sorry for the people with kids in the line. Even though my server was slower than forest growth I still tipped them. But like value lost the taste was unpleasant. If you don't like being exposed to prejudice I assure you the 'regular line' WILL make you feel like you have no civil rights. But if you're able to suffer all that for a few rounds of delicious crab then you should go right on ahead, don't let me stop you

We were seated at a booth, the waitress introduced herself, unfortunately I do not remember her name. Our drink orders were taken. The sodas were delivered and looked like water. Boyfriend asked for a new sprite, the current one had zero bubbles and tasted like water. The response was our CO2 is out do you want to drink it or not. He asked if there was another option that he could have, the response was yeah water you either want it or you don't. The food was mediocre at best, the meats were pretty bland. Food temps were not the best, I got some ravioli and it was cold. Found items to be hard to locate like sour cream, after asking three employees and being scoffed at I gave up. It was decently busy, lines went pretty quickly. The only thing we found really good was the sherbet. The flavors ordered were mango, coconut and strawberry. The were really good. Would we return: Most likely not, not a fan of buffets to begin with and nothing stood out to return for the price. I'll return for mediocre food, if customer service is good, that was also lacking.

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

The first visit, service was warm and timely. Food was great. The second time we had gone, a few instances made our visit a bit uncomfortable due to the service and food quality. The server grabbed us another when we asked but her tone while informing us it was normal was passive aggressive, almost as if our request was weird and inconvenient. She would come up later to critique our grilling because our gas went out a few times but I think the one we were sat at wasn't working well as this had not happened before here or any other kbbq spot we've visited. After this, it seemed like we were a burden. We asked for a plate to place cooked meat away from the raw ones and it seemed like the supervisor for the night came up to us for this. She asked why we would need one and then snapped that they couldn't due to something like they were already portioned. We were there 4 hours before closing, there didn't seem to be any wait up front, and yet 1.5 hours in and the server became more insistent on checking on us (they only came up twice prior to this after we flagged them down). On top of this, the food quality since the last time had declined just as much. The rice cakes weren't cooked fully and cold, the cheese for the corn cheese rubbery, and ice cream freezer burnt. For the price of $40 (where we do the cooking mind you), you would expect better efficient service and food. We will not be visiting again.

I came here during the holiday, Mother's Day, which had an influx of guests at the restaurant. The server throughout my dining experience was Tori. She was recently hired as a new server and wasn't too knowledgeable about the menu as of yet. With that being said, I desired to show patience and grace since she was still in the training stage. I proceeded to order the following items for dinner: * Oysters on the Half Shell (6) * Lobster Bisque Bowl * $29 Special - Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes The entire occurrence presented as quite interesting, to say the least. I first received the oysters. It had arrived with an empty serving vessel, which was supposed to be filled with the mignonette sauce. Tori quickly fixed this mistake. The oysters met expectations in terms of freshness and quality. They were very delicious with the mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, and lemon juice. Then, I received the Lobster Tomato Bisque. The soup was lacking in flavor and needed help in the seasoning department. I grabbed the peppercorn grinder, which was readily available at the table. Upon twisting the grinder, a lot of peppercorns fell into the soup unfortunately. I kindly requested that Tori replace the soup. A nearby table had the same situation, where an individual had a bunch of pink salt spill over the baked potato dish. Tori was also their server. I noticed that Tori pointed at me and mentioned to the party that I did the same action. When making that observation, I was quite embarrassed. I understood that Tori was trying to make the other table feel better but the finger-pointing provided a slightly unpleasant feeling to me. I finally received the Filet Mignon & Jumbo Shrimp with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes as the entree. However, it took a total of 1.5 hours to arrive at the table. It was quite long and a little frustrating, especially since I've noticed that a couple of parties that seated after me ordered the same meal deal and their food arrived before mine. The steak and shrimp were delectable. The green beans were bland (used butter, pepper + salt) and the mashed potatoes were decent in flavor. All in all, the evening at Boomtown Steakhouse was underwhelming. From the food taking a while to come out, sitting down at a wobbly table, the soup tasting bland, and the overall hospitality from Tori, the experience left some room to be desired. At the end, I truly appreciated the complimentary chocolate mousse dessert. This offering made up slightly for everything that had transpired. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant on a holiday, including Mother's Day. When I decide to return here, it will be on a regular weekday.

I have eaten at hundreds of Asian restaurants over the last 23 years, ( some even in Hong Kong and China ) all over California, and even owned one in Sacramento. (Japanese Ramen) The food here was quite unique, very tasty, and these guys managed to put at least four dishes on our table even I had never tried before, and they were all great! Good job 101! I highly recommend when you are in Reno and traveling with your Asian family members.

Once we were seated, our order was taken almost immediately. Service was efficient and prompt. It wasn't particularly friendly, but it wasn't rude either, it felt very much like the staff was focused on turning tables quickly, which is understandable when a place is that busy. What I didn't expect was the flavors of the dishes. Each one seemed to have an unusual sweetness that didn't feel typical for Taiwanese food. From the Mapo Tofu to the salted fish fried rice and even the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, they all had a noticeable sweetness to them. Maybe I'm a bit spoiled by the variety of Asian food options we have living in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the flavors here just didn't quite match what I usually expect from Chinese/Taiwanese
