First off, I have NEVER posted a negative review on Yelp before but I have also never felt as disrespected by a business before. My husband and I have gone to this spa for several years now and experienced poor customer service from the front desk at nearly every visit. We continued to go because we enjoyed the therapists but today was the last straw. The appointment was booked for a 90min massage and confirmed verbally by the receptionist at the time of booking. When the email confirmation arrived only the day before the appointment it read 60min. We contacted the spa only to essentially be called liars by the "manager" who answered our calls then laughed at us for asking if we would be charged for a late cancellation. If you don't mind rude staff and disrespectful owners, then by all means go here. Getting a massage should relieve your stress not be the cause of it! I'm more relieved to know I'll never have to worry about dealing with these people ever again. read more

I went with my wife to celebrate our anniversary for a couples 90 minute massage and had the worst visit of my life!! Quite frankly we are a little traumatized. About 20 minutes into the massage my wife was told to slowly get up after hearing the therapist gasp. She sprung up and there was a scorpion, direct descendent of Satan, next to where her neck was! The scorpion was flung away and never found so we had to finish the remainder of the 70 minutes unsure of where the scorpion was. We tried contacting the manager to discuss the situation and to this day, 8 days ago, have yet to have our phone calls returned. What kind of customer service is this and more importantly why didn't the manager get involved that same day!!!! You want to support local businesses but then their management doesn't even bother to handle serious service issues. read more

I have been here 1 time, and had an amazing facial from Ashley. I have had a handful of facials before, and this was hands down the best I have received. The products and process they use for facials did a very good job making my face look and feel amazing, plus they smell sooo good. read more

My wife purchased the "gentleman's package" for me as a birthday present. This package consists of a 20 minute foot treatment, 60 minute massage and a 60 minute facial. The foot treatment was very nice and consisted of a soak followed by a scrub and work with a pumice stone. The massage was awesome. My only previous experiences with massage have been in Afghanistan where a large Russian lady basically beat me up for 30 minutes. LOL. But nevertheless, I chose deep tissue for this massage and it worked wonders. I felt great afterward. Would love to go back for more massages in the future. I have to admit I was a lil apprehensive about the facial but it was pretty nice. The girl who did it was knowledgable and explained everything she was doing. At one point there was 5-10 minutes where steam was being blown into my face and another 5-10 minute period where there was some sort of mask treatment being done. During these periods of time I received foot and hand massages which were nice. Overall... The experience was great. The place is very clean and well decorated. It is a very calming atmosphere and this is coming from somebody that's pretty high strung. Hope to come back again in the future. read more

I have been going to TOT for years and have been extremely happy with the massages I have received. The decor is beautiful and I have always felt welcomed and invited. I don't know where the change has occurred, but I have not been happy with my last few massages and even more unhappy from the response of the owner who was very curt and defensive on the phone with me when I called to explain a recent unhappy visit. Once she finally listened to my complaint, she said that I had reason to be upset and would address the issue with the masseuse. It upset me that she wouldn't listen to my complaint at first and instead was more defensive instead of hearing me out. Even though she *did* finally hear me out and agreed that what had happened was wrong and it would be addressed, the experience with how the owner handled it left a bad taste in my mouth. I felt more like I was being looked bad upon because I had a bad experience I was sharing, rather than a valued customer who had been coming for years who had a real complaint. Because of it, TOT has lost my business and I will be looking elsewhere to get my massages. Elements is right around the corner and while the decor is not quite as pretty, I always feel valued when I visit there. read more

I have been coming to this day spa for about a year and rave about everything EXCEPT for customer service as well. Services are spectacular, but the reception is HORRIBLE. receptionist has an attitude and could care less you are there. I just called to book myself and a new customer for them (I have recommended this place to at least a dozen friends ) and the receptionist was pretty rude and sounded like she wanted to get off the phone Asap. I am glad that I can look past this, but worry that people who would try this spa for the first time would be turned off and not want to call back or try this spa. My boyfriend and I got the couples massage and we had mixed reviews. He really enjoyed his massage, however, my massage therapist was pretty bad. I had Amanda H. She was using only ONE hand for the majority of the massage...it felt like she was being lazy and rushing through the whole thing. She stretched my neck all in funny contorted ways, which was not appreciated. When I gave the receptionist feedback, she didn't seem to care or ask any follow up questions. I have been coming here very sporadically for several years for facials, but I have to rave about the 20% peel I had! I wasn't quite sure what I wanted, and Kristin was very helpful with feedback and recommendations. She did a 30 min facial with the yam and pumpkin peel. I am not going to lie, the peel was uncomfortable but my skin looked so fantastic afterward, I am going to start these regularly! It's been a few days and my skin still feels super soft and smooth, and I also notice the lines in between my brows are less pronounced. I am always skeptical bcuz very rarely do claims hold-up but I am sold on this peel. read more

my wife and I were once regulars at Touch of Tranquility and loved getting their couples massage. We went again last night and were incredibly disappointed. The massages were very rough, uncomfortable and not relaxing at all. When the massage was over we both looked at each other and said "that was the worst massage I've ever had". Today we are both very sore and feel as though we've been in a car accident. It wasn't worth the drive or the money spent. We will not be back. read more

Ive been reviewing a few massage studios in Gilbert because I'm new to the area. They've mostly been chains (I dont think Touch of Tranquility is?) and although I liked the atmosphere of the room, I didnt enjoy my massage much. I got a massage from a woman who was quite large and her belly kept touching me as she was reaching across my back or chest. She also kept clearing her throat and coughing--not relaxing. The price was okay and the front desk girl just stared at the computer screen, but overall, I don't think I'll be back unless they have a huge special or something. read more

This is the classiest, cleanest, best smelling place in the valley. I've been to several other places over the past several years BUT none come close to Touch of Tranquility. I've had five different therapists and they all have been excellent compared to other places. This is definitely high end with out having to pay high end prices. Touch of Tranquility Massage is amazing. I could tell a big difference between this establishment versus local chain massage membership places after walking through the door. I felt like I was getting a resort-quality massage for half the price. Included in the reasonable price was aromatherapy, hot towels, and a wonderful ambiance. I realized I'm probably a high-maintenance client because I need different pressures on different parts of my body and the massage therapist was very accommodating. We chose Touch of Tranquility due to the proximity to our home but couldn't be more happy with our decision. We have both seen significant improvement since seeing Tyler and Kathleen for about 2 months now (twice a week), and really look forward to our appointments. Both Tyler and Kathleen are extremely knowledgable, the environment is clean and relaxing and the front desk staff is friendly. Great!! I saw Carol DePaul. I was in so much discomfort and by the the time I left I finally had some relief. On my way there I was hoping I would get someone a little older with lots of strength. My boyfriend surprised me with a massage and scrub for my birthday. I had never been to this spa before. I have been to many over the past years. I thought the spa was beautiful when I walked in. I had an appointment which was already prepaid. I was asked to fill out paper work and that was it. The receptionist did not tell me what would be going on, where I should wait, or what the next step was. I felt kind of lost as to what would happen. The scrub was okay. I was not overall impressed with that. the massage was nice. I enjoyed the massage therapist. she was a little talkative, but very nice!! When my massage and scrub was complete I stopped at the desk to check out. The receptionist then asked me to pay $135.00 for the services. I told her it was a gift and was prepaid. Love, love, love this place and my wonderful therapist, Lori. I have been suffering from lower back/hip and neck pains and tension, and every time I see her she does a wonderful job and always asks what issues I am having so she can work on those areas. The place is clean, calm and well appointed and the rooms are great - very private, decor is nice. Massages are well priced. The tables are heated and they use hot towels. As the daughter of a massage therapist I am pretty picky about where I get treatments, but I will be going here as long as I am in the area! read more

My neck is feeling so much better. She really listened to how I was feeling and that I wanted a light touch. Every other massage I've had has hurt me. Don't expect any customer service! The owner and manager don't care at all about their clients. I did not have a good experience with my massage and wanted to provide feedback. The manager was defensive when I called and hurried me off the phone. I was told I would receive a call back but didn't. I sent an email and was given a response that I would received a call back that day. I did get a call back but it wasn't from the manager, it was from the MASSAGE THERAPIST himself! Apparently, the manager felt it was appropriate to give my personal contact information to the therapist and not deal with me herself. What an uncomfortable situation to put us both in! Now all I want is my money back for the remaining balance on a gift card my husband bought me but they won't respond. They are not even listed with the BBB, or I would file a complaint. So many negatives on my 1st experience here. I've had 25+ massages and never have I had such a bad experience :( Our massage suite had windows and although they tried to cover them with a blackout curtain, I had the bright AZ sunlight beaming in my eyes during the massage. I've also never experienced a massage room with a ceiling fan. Yes I know it can get warm in AZ but when I'm naked with lotion on my body, a ceiling fan is very very cold. My massage therapist didn't rub her hands together and continually put cold lotion on my body making it worse. I would cringe every time she did. I would think that would be a big no no you would learn in massage therapy school. Rub your hands together before you touch a body. Finally, I told her what part of my body needed attention. Again, she must not have paid attention in school... Between the light beams, cold fan blowing, barely trying to work out my kinks and the cold lotion over and over, I left more stressed than when I arrived! On the bright side, my husband said his therapist was amazing. read more
