A wonderful dentist. I have dental phobia and she makes me feel at ease. She does wonderful work

Fine for simple exam, cleaning, cavities, routine care. This office doesn't have an oral surgeon or endodontist. My case required services not offered on the premises, including extraction. I had wait a very long time for referrals and "next step" treatment. I wouldn't recommend this dentist for a complex restoration. There was poor communication with the other professionals to whom I was referred. I felt like the dentist was out of her depth. read more

Big thank you to Dr. Mylonakis! I left a message to see if she could see me right away and she called me right back and I was in the next day. So great! She was very nice, her offices were very nice, clean and inviting. She was happy to tell me about what she was doing along the way and I felt at ease the whole time. There's something to be said about a soothing voice while there is drill happening in your mouth. Dr. Bartolazo is awesome, but when he's not around I may have to go back to visit Dr. Mylonakis. She's on the East side, so it's a bit easier for me to get to. She is in network with Metlife and I'm sure others. If you don't love your dentist, come and visit Dr. M. Wow - I didn't realize there were so many 5 star reviews about my dentist when I decided to come on yelp to write a review. She deserves every star she gets! Dr Mylonakis was charismatic, kind, knowledgable, and informative during my routine cleaning. We talked about my concerns and she addressed them in a matter-of-fact, no BS matter, while giving me a few options. She had a polite and funny demeanor that made me feel relaxed and refreshed. Her office was clean and quiet. Her assistant was also very sweet and kind. It's rare, and unfortunate, that you find such service these days. I left the office with clean sparkly teeth and she also put a pep in my step for the rest of the day. I love going to the dentist in general - but this is a new level! I have another appointment in June. Apparently she's booked solid for the next 2 months, so if you're interested, you better get on that! read more

Coming here it looks nice but when I got in the back the lady who took my exrays was very very rough with me until my gums scraped. She took out the X-ray and put it back in with no warning. I had braces and so some tooth could be shown at the bottom without checking that first she shoved the X-ray into my mouth and I shrieked in pain, the whole process went by and I had tears in my eyes. When the assist noticed my tooth she said "ohyou have a bone here" no lady that's a tooth i don't know if you're familiar. How rough could you be With your guest? I'm kindhearted so I just said it's ok afterwards she was like very numb in her attitude when she said "you ok?" Like you don't care but yes I'm fine I'm not dead right? And when the dentist came in she was nice BUT my cleaning was rushed and my gums were HURTING. i take pain well, wanna know I'm not exaggerating? I have pictures 3 days after my dentist appointment as proof. I couldn't wear my retainer at the top for 2 days and it hurts to eat. Idk what to do or how long this will take to heal. She literally stabbed me so hard and multiple times. So sorry to be that one bad comment I think but guys.. no one should go through this or risk this. I never make a review this long but when it comes between me and food ITS A PROBLEM. read more

This is the second time I have been to Toula's and its been a great experience. I got two fillings done and it wasn't even painful!! She has a good sense of humour, puts you at ease and knows what she's doing. Kimberly - her dental assistant, is a breathe of fresh air. Updating the review since it has been over 2 years since my last review. Nothing has changed! Dr. Mylonakis is still the best! I travel over an hour to see her, even though there are many other dentists much, much closer to me! Why? (1) She will not say you need to get things done that you don't need to get. (Some dentists are more business, than healthcare) (2) She is entertaining (some dentists were very dry that I have been with...) (3) She is not painful. (been to some dentists and getting the shots into the gums was a very painful experience) If you want to have a dentist, who is not trying to rip you off, very charismatic and entertaining with lots of stories to tell, who gives practically painless dental care, she is the one! Even if you already have a dentist, as someone who has been to over 8 dentists in my lifetime so far, you should really give her a shot! I am glad to say, she will be the last dentist I choose, for as long as I can! read more

I went to her years ago and had a wonderful experience. I then had to switch around when I lost dental insurance. I had some awful experiences in most places where things were rushed and they constantly tried to "upsell" me additional services. I went back to her and she's still efficient, doesn't rush (very thorough) and talks through everything with you. It's a well run office and they are prepared for their patients. Going to a dentist felt like a comfortable experience once again. read more

I haven't been to the dentist in five years, and I was absolutely terrified to go. After researching, Toula Mylonakis seemed promising. My appointment was for St Pattys day. It must have been the first appointment all day. Dr. Mylonakis and her receptionist were SO nice as soon as I stepped in, It felt like I was invited to her home as I felt very comfortable. She took xrays of my teeth, performed a cleaning, and whatever else, but what I really loved is that she explained everything she did. I felt like I was actually learning about dental care instead of getting shamed. I even had a super sensitive tooth that she worked around and was gentle near. After this short, painless appointment, I had no cavities, paid in full (no insurance, $250 for everything), and didn't feel absolutely terrified when I left. I have decided that she will be my dentist from here on out. I honestly don't care if I move to Canada, I'm still using Dr. Mylonakis as my dentist! read more

After a really bad experience at my last dentist in Manhattan I of course!!!!! went to yelp to find a new dentist. I went on ZocDoc to schedule and she immediately sent me a confirmation with the new patient paperwork attached to fill out beforehand!! I arrived & it was a very short wait time before she came out to get me. From start to finish, Dr. T made me feel comfortable and took the time to explain my insurance coverage & checked out my teeth, all while cracking funny jokes along the way! I've been seeing Toula for over 4 years now and have no complaints. She doesn't over diagnose as seems to be the trend. Visits are efficient, thorough and as enjoyable as the dentist can be. I've sent many colleagues to her with the same result. I should mention that I had years of chronic staining when I showed up and she recommended a different mouth wash which completely did away with the problem. Brilliant. read more

I don't have insurance so there are not too many medical professionals who want to take my business, however a friend recommended Dr. Mylonakis to me anyway. I spoke with her almost immediately, and had an appointment the very next day. She was extremely kind and gave me an honest evaluation of what work I actually did NOT need done! She was genuinely concerned about my pain and corrected the work of another Manhattan dentist for very little cost (which is a huge deal considering I don't have insurance). Dr. Toula has been my dentist for about 5 years! I moved to NYC from the Caribbean and had an urgent dental issue, and I found Dr. Toula and she attended to me immediately. Toula Mylonakis is the best dentist I've ever had the pleasure ... yes pleasure of going to!! This woman is amazing. She will give your teeth a total cleaning and will honestly review any work to your teeth you may need to have done. She's not there to rip you off as so many dentists have done in the past to me... Especially if one goes to dental schools where you totally get overcharged for stuff you don't need in order for the students to put in the required hours they need to get certified. I made an appointment for a cleaning and was very pleased to get one for the next day at a time that was convenient for me. She takes time with you and answers all your questions and concerns and surely won't advice or push you to have any unnecessary procedures like some dentists do just to charge more on your insurance. I am a "dental chicken" and was nervous about my first visit with Dr. Mylonakis but she made me feel comfortable right away. She has a wonderful bedside manner and explained everything as she cleaned my teeth. She noticed that my teeth had some brown staining from a mouthwash I was using which I shouldn't have been using. I have been seeing Dr. Toula Mylonakis for about 3 years now. She is wonderful and I love having her as my dentist. I moved to NYC from a small town in Michigan, where everyone knows everyone, and was worried about just being another number to my health care providers. I can tell you that she never made me feel like that and reminds me so much of my small town Dentist that I grew up going to. She makes an effort to get to know you and remembers who you are every time you return. When it comes to your health she is very clear and lets you know what her true thoughts and opinions are regarding what you should or should not do. She is very gently and never makes me fear going to the dentist. My husband now goes to her and loves her as well. When I met him he had not gown to the dentist in 2 years because he was afraid. Now he goes every year for his checkups since he feel safe having Dr. Toula Mylonakis as his dentist.
