Stay as far away from using this so called "Periodontist". The only ones smiling are the employees at the front desk as they take your credit card. They'll try to talk you into procedures that they absolutely DON'T have the skills to give you a satisfactory result. And the pain that results will be ignored if you try to complain. read more

They manipulate reviews. They literally put me in a year of pain and then Giselle had the audacity to shame me over a review when I was in pain from them! They literally told me if I don't delete a review they wouldn't fix a perm tooth that fell out(yet again). Doesn't matter because ultimately they now all need fixing and he left me walking around with mangled gums and shaved down teeth he did. Multiple visits w teeth falling out. Multiple times I have asked them for a refund. They only care about their reviews. I have tried to get other dentists to fix but they wont touch it and are horrified by his work. Months of dental consults. Other dentists have said they hear often about 212smiliing and having to fix what they have done to people. I finally found a reputable dentist but it took multiple consults and now 45000 in repairs after Dr Kim mangled my gums and teeth(see pict). I have not been able to socialize for months because I know I look this way. I went in for a second repair and Dr Kim messed me up even more as i was crying in his chair begging him to fix it - Did NOT care. This dentist needs to be put out of business from bad ethics. They only care about their reviews and not who they will hurt. They seem to be used to lawsuits with their replies. They simply do not care who they hurt medically. Please run from this dentist. Its terrifying what they did to my mouth both top and bottom please see picture. I literally paid them to mess my mouth up for 30000. Its been the biggest nightmare of my entire life. I got really really screwed over by these guys and am still paying the price many years later. Be very careful if you are a client of theirs. They used a cheap implant that they bought online (not a name brand) that failed within a month of being used. The crown was such poor quality and a disaster that it failed within a month and was loose for a long time. Had to spend over $13,000 fixing all of their hideous mistakes, causing years of pain and agony. The office had to nerve to charge me $300 each time I tried to visit to get it resolved, so I gave up and ate the costs, also did not trust them at all. Oral surgeon and new dentist were appalled at what happened, as they never saw anyone get screwed over as much as me. This place should be shut down by the state for what they do to people. Nobody knows about implants or cheap brands (I paid over $5,500 so it wasn't even cheap, they just made more money out of me and $2,500 for the crown). Such a scam DO NOT COME HERE! read more

All of the bad reviews are from when the practice was under a different management/dentist, which is a shame...Make sure you read the most recent reviews! If you need a general dentist: this place is excellent. The office is clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The receptionist remembers me by name every time I walk through the door! The dental hygienists take their time with cleanings and are very thorough. You don't feel like they're rushing through everything in order to see more patients, unlike some other places. Here, they're always very gentle and take the time to explain what they're doing and how your teeth are. If you need a dental surgeon/specialist: this place is EXCELLENT!! Look up Dr. Kim's certifications if you have any doubts. I'm pretty sure he can fix any problem you have. I've been here for surgery for my gums (yes...it is a thing...), which seemed initially terrifying - Everything I read online said this procedure would take forever and the recovery would be painful. But Dr. Kim calmly talked me through the procedure to reassure me, and the actual surgery and recovery were painless. I go to Dr. Kim's office twice a year for cleaning and periodontal work. The staff is very skilled--their work is complete and effective. You can feel the strength and purpose in their hands, that they know what they are doing. They do a full periodontal evaluation, tooth by tooth. They have been very helpful in explaining the best techniques for brushing and cleaning teeth at home. The rates are very reasonable. You can find much higher rates in Manhattan but I doubt if the service would be any better. They willingly quote rates ahead of doing the work, and they always honor their quotations. They have always honored scheduled appointment times. The personnel are friendly and personable. Dr. Kim has a very considerate and attentive manner, and discusses things easily and fully. read more

Dr. Kim is probably the best dentist I have ever been to. Growing up, we went through a few dentists before we started seeing the dentist I saw for about 10-12 years. After moving to NYC I didn't have high hopes on finding another dentist I loved as much as my former dentist. That was before I was recommended Dr. Kim. I had my consultation with Dr. Kim and was very nervous, because I had been told by the last dentist I saw in NY that I had 3 cavities that would cost me over $600 to fix. My insurance didn't cover the procedure, so I was very stressed. Dr. Kim took a look and informed me that I did not have 3 cavities, and in fact only needed to have an old filling re-done. They made my appointment for the following week, where I had my cleaning and filling done. It was well worth paying out of pocket for the filling - Dr. Kim and his staff were professional, friendly and so attentive. I have never had a teeth cleaning as pleasant and painless as I did there! Same for the filling. It may sound odd but I am looking forward to my next visit! read more

Either the reviews already on here are fake, Dr. Wolfson has changed his ways since I was a patient, or the reviewers here are too easy to please. Like my mechanic, I always went to my "family dentist." Dentists and mechanics are alike. They both specialize in something 99% of us are clueless about, so when they both tell you that you need to "clean the rim, or face the consequences," you have no choice but to take their word for it and shell out money, often unnecessarily. Having moved into the city, I needed a convenient dentist for a cleaning. Dr. Wolfson was close by work, so I went to him. Dr. Wolfson really likes to be Mr. Personality. Talks it up. Probably in hopes you gain trust in him so you say "Yes" to anything he says you need. Amazingly, for the first time in my life, I had two cavities (or so he claimed). Younger and a bit more naive back then, I made another appointment to have them taken care of. Of course, the rude woman at the desk overcharged me like $200, and when I questioned her, she assured me it was correct. I went home, called my insurance company, and what do you know? They lied to me. I went back in the next day and the rude woman at the front desk was there. I told her she overcharged me and I expect my money back immediately. With an annoyed look on her face, she gave me back my money without asking any questions. One would think, had she genuinely thought the charge was correct, she would've at least questioned me as to why I think I deserved $200 back. It's been 4 years and still no cavities. I seriously question whether I actually had any like Dr. Wolfson claimed considering my care of my teeth has not improved since then. I agree with the other reviewers--they were kind, considerate, and the laser tool was much better than the usual scraping method of detecting problems. I found myself quite comfortable--they even have televisions to keep us busy while waiting. I did have a fairly long appointment--it was scheduled for 9:30 and I wasn't out until around 11--but I suppose that's normal; I went in for a check-up and they found a filling that had been cracked. I don't have dental insurance, but out-of-pocket wasn't so bad--$50 for the check-up (they said it was free over the phone...not sure what that was about--apparently this was something different?) plus $300 for having the filling fixed and the cavity beneath it cleaned out. They didn't charge for x-rays. I have one more cavity, which they'll charge $250 to repair. I believe this is on par with the city's normal rates for out-of-pocket. I know you can find NYU's dental clinic for less, but I'm reluctant to trust them with my teeth. read more

No he's not fancy and no he does not have a super nice office but you know what: Dr. Wolfson takes my calls at 2AM! He fixes my kids teeth and in many cases I have come into the office with something urgent and he has NEVER charged me. He has the latest equipment and my teeth are SUPER white. They GLOW they are so white and my whole family would recommend this place. I'm deathly afraid of dentists and needed an emergency tooth extraction. The staff here were super friendly, accustomed a billing set-up to fit my pay schedule and the procedure itself was as painless as could be. Going forward, I've trusted this office for cleanings and regular appointments. I've only seen Dr. D? I think that's his name, the filipino dentist here and he's great. I was watching tv during most of my visits and it kind of kept my mind off what was going on in my mouth. I've tried two other dentists offices here in Manhattan through recommendations from co-workers and both were horrific experiences. The first one I went to was in a swanky area in Flatiron and I don't think any of the european staff spoke english well (sketch) and all were extremely RUDE. My second experience was an office in Tribeca and I literally felt like it was the fast food restaurant of dentists- IN AND OUT. Scary. Wasn't super thrilled with my first (and last) visit to this dental office. My dental history isn't so wicked, luckily, just the occasional cavity + filling. New x-ray revealed that I needed a new filling on a molar-- buzzkill: they only use composite (white/tooth-colored) fillings at this office. All of my previous fillings are amalgam (silver), which last longer and I'm just used to in general. So I wasn't thrilled with trying out a different type. (Not-So-Fun Fact: excessive alcohol consumption can deterioriate the integrity of composite fillings. My average vodka intake just doesn't paint a cute picture, in this respect!) Was also a bit thrown off for being suggested to purchase a bite guard for the first time in my life (to prevent teeth grinding)... not to mention the hygienist giving me a pamphlet for Invisalign, despite my teeth being straighter than any given Lakers player. In other words.: bish, please! To top it off, Wolfson's a super nice guy but, I could barely suppress the urge to cover my face with my shirt when he talked. This had to be the strangest and creepiest dentist appointment I've ever had. Upon walking into the place I immediately felt uncomfortable. It is incredibly small - like I'm not entirely certain how it's legal to have a medical practice so small. It seems an employee could easily bump into another employee operating a medical device in someone's mouth, inadvertently causing major oral damage. Granted this is NY, but I've been to plenty other doctors in the city, and I've never experienced something so claustrophobic before. The staff was on top of each other and it felt like I was in a cafeteria of employees. It also seemed half renovated. For example, there was tile on the wall that didn't look finished. In general the place just seemed really poorly maintained and messy, which isn't exactly what one wants to see when, I don't know, people are going to be sticking their hands in your mouth. There were tons of release forms too. More than I've ever seen before, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable - like they had some sketchy practices going on and were trying to cover for themselves. Perhaps I've gone to progressive dentists in the past, but a lot of the equipment also seemed very outdated and in bad condition. The way they took x-rays was painful and long compared to what I've experienced with all other dentists. The dentist chair also had some foam covering on it, but you could still see that underneath it was what looked like a filthy looking chair. Between that and trashy daytime television playing on the TV in front of me, I seriously started to question if I'd accidentally walked into some back alley-style medical practice. It was just completely lacking polish and class. For a second I considered asking to leave - which after reading these reviews - apparently someone has done before! Like others have stated on here, they also seemed very salesy, which I did not like at all. They definitely seem highly invested in maximizing insurance claims, which caused me to question a lot of what they were telling me too. Overall the experience was very uncomfortable and stressful. I got a coupon for free consultation/x-rays with Dr Wolfson, and he was literally 1 blocks from my apartment. Pros: Friendly, spent 2 hours with me explaining everything, very modern equipment, thorough exam. And they use sedation, which I am looking for. Cons: Waited in the waiting room 1 hour. I couldn't believe one dentist would do EVERYTHING including periodontal work, but he said he did continuing education all the time. So I asked him to send me his CV, still hasn't sent it 2 weeks later. When I said I was shopping around, looked taken aback, pressured me to make another appt. Another con: Sedation dentistry uses intravenous drug to sort of knock you out, but you can see hear and speak, it's like a major tranquilizer. But it IS anesthesia, so it is recommended to make sure the dentist has backup emergency plan if something goes wrong. I asked him about this and he said don't worry, nothing will go wrong. The guy is next to Roosevelt Hospital and he didn't even have a plan to send me there if something goes wrong with the anesthesia. So this was one free visit just to check him out, but I'm going to keep looking. read more

Office staff was unorganized and rude and a girl at the desk mentioned to the Doctor someone was on the phone about a lawsuit! This Dr. Diamonon is so good that I fell asleep during my root canal. You heard me right. During a root canal. I moved here from Chicago about two months ago and my dentist at home had told me ahead of time that I needed a root canal. These nice folks--and they are awfully nice--had me in the office, x-rayed me to confirm the diagnosis, and did the damn thing on the first day. Every step of the process was laid out for me, every move they made was explained. On a personal note, usually when I go to the dentist it's for a cleaning or a casual filling. What I mean is that my fears aren't related at all to pain. Usually, I'm more concerned with drowning in my own saliva or accidentally swallowing a tool or something. Instead, this was my first experience with a dental dam, a kind of latex sheet that exposed the tooth they were working on and nothing else, while still leaving me ample room to breathe. I have been a patient of the 212 Smiling team since early 2012, originally just checked them out as a viable option for doing my invisalign treatment. luckily i was received with such great care and warmth from all of the staff that I decided to opt for them as my caregivers. and i haven't regretted it for one second! the level of attention to detail even on the regular checkups throughout the treatment made me feel taken care of all the way from the Personable Dr Wolfson to the receptionist and everyone in between . the staff was very patient with my process as it was longer than usual not only because in my case, (my teeth were a much worse than the avg case) but also because along the treatment i had lost one of my retainers while i was on vacation and thus didnt wear them for 7 days enough to back track the procedure for more than a few weeks, gratefully Dr Diammon, (who has now left the office) got me back on track as fast as he could. Once he left , the care i had from Dr Munz was just as outstanding and detailed not to mention the transition from one dentist care to the other was seamless and efficient. thanks to them i can now smile from ear to ear grinning for the first time after 19 years full of hidden laughs and grinless smiles. Well how do you explain perfect. Going to a dentist can be a traumatising experience. Being at Dr Smiling was a wonderful and relaxing experience. Dr Wolfson is a caring and very knoledgeable dentist. He knows the most modern of techniques. I needed a lot of work and he was willing to work out a payment plan. They have a modern up to date dental hygienist. There are about 3 or 4 other dentists in the office. I went to Dr. Kim for second opinion after my go to dentist said I need root canal because I had a bad case of cavity on one teeth and new crown for the crack on another. I am soooo glad I went for 2nd opinion because not only did I not need root canal I didn't even have a cavity!!!! I switched to De. Kim right away to fix the cracked crown and that was it!!!!! I'm such a happy camper and Dr. Kim was so nice and gentle that I didn't even feel any pain during treatments which is a key for me because I have low threshold for pain! I recently had a wisdom tooth removed. Not only did I not feel any pain, there was no need to take anything stronger than excedrin after the surgery. The swelling went down after 2 days and the stitches are almost completely dissolved. Dr. Kim took his time and provided a good understanding of what to expect during and after the procedure. Worst dental experience ever! In a city full of dentists and competition, this place should act more professional. I went in for a cleaning and when making the appointment over the phone was told my insurance definitely covered it. Went in and had x rays and cleaning done and was again told I didn't need to pay for anything (it was just a cleaning after all and I had insurance). A year later, I keep getting calls and letters in the mail saying I owe a $50 balance. And no explanation of why. I have never had such an experience with any dental office. My kids needed a teeth cleaning and they are 8 and 5 and I have never seen a better staff take care of my kids. They have a brand new office, great equipment, and Dr. Wolfson could of made another 400.00 bucks on me but actually pulled a tooth for FREE that I was complaining about and I was there for the kids! I also had Invisalign treatment done for my wedding and love how my teeth look now. I went to west end dental associates for my last cleaning bc I was referred by a friend and the cleaning was sooooo subpar I came back here. They also offered me a free cleaning right before my wedding last year and free whitening. I love dr d. Overall very nice people and will continue coming here. read more

I had a broken partial and needed someone with an in-house lab to speed along the repair process. Another dentist told me it would take a week at minimum transacting with an external lab, so I plowed ahead looking for one with an internal lab and found 212 Smiling through Google. I groaned a little at first because on my very first appointment I had difficulty finding the place (it's the basement entrance and to a relative non-New Yorker these are tough for me to expect and search for), and when I did, the receptionist was running late. I stood with another patient out in the cold for what I recall was something like 20 minutes to a half hour. When the apologetic receptionist showed up and let us in, both myself and the other patient were floored to discover that people had been inside the whole the time. Dentists I presume but point being, no-one thought to let us in and at least sit in the warmth. But that was easy to get past and from there it was smooth sailing. I showed off my broken partial and in just an hour or so, with great results, they handed it back to me all fixed. The price was very minimal IMHO (not knowing, admittedly how much it should cost, but I imagined something in the thousands since the partial itself had cost several). It was just a hundred dollars or so and a great relief. For this ability to deliver a complete fix at such a fair price, I have to give them a 3 at least. However, for the 4 I give them, I credit the work their billing department went through regarding a separate issue, to resolve an insurance snafu involving my previous dentist. There was a coding issue that prevented direct payment and their billing department was extremely patient and instrumental in resolving. The previous dentist wasn't cooperating out of hand but rather than just dock me for the cost and move on, they waited and waited (and worked the phones on my behalf) to get the matter cleared up. When they finally *did* charge me for the insurance company's dilly-dallying, they quickly reversed credit charges when at the very last second some advice they gave me to try worked and the insurance company paid out. They *literally* saved me thousands of dollars, even when they already had their piece of the pie doled out to them and could have cared less. I give high kudos to their billing team. As for service, it's been many months now since all that and the partial and their additional work are holding up great. No complaints there, or, minor inaugural hiccup aside, regarding their service or bedside manners. read more

They were gentle and considerate. I have to admit that I neglected my teeth for too many years. I was too afraid of the drill, I guess. A friend told me about the laser dentistry they do here are 212 smiling and recommended that I give it a try. After some weeks of summoning my courage I gave them a call and set up the appointment. When I got there they made a point of asking me how long it had been since my last visit to a dentist and that's when I told them about my nervousness. They could not have been more comforting and sensitive. Luckily, I did not have to have a lot of treatment. The laser "drill" (don't know the official term) lacked any of the heat and vibration that used to associate with my visits to the dentist. The doctor was nice and asked me several times if I was comfortable and well. I guess maybe the dental tech had mentioned that I was nervous.
