I think this restaurant gives exactly what you think it will. It's your local, kind of dingy, restaurant that people seem to pack on the weekends. They have decent enough coffee, and if you're not careful, you may end up drinking your weight in it. The service was on time, the food took a long time to come out, but it was hot, and the atmosphere was the kind where you don't want to look around too hard, but it's not a complete dump. My meal was good. It wasn't the best "rancheros eggs" I've ever had, but the flavor profiles matched. The eggs were very eggy. I noticed this when I ate my fried eggs and tried my mom's scrambled eggs. Also, my tortillas seemed like they had been in the aluminum bundle for awhile getting soggy before they were delivered. Love their biscuits and gravy and great cinnamon French toast. I honestly haven't had a bad breakfast there.

We came in after a family tree chop and everything was great. We had a big group and they were very accommodating! Food was really good!

Passing through town and wanted to eat somewhere local as opposed to a chain restaurant. From the moment we walked through the doors it was apparent we were not from Harvard. Regardless, we were treated to a magnificent breakfast at a great price. The people were very friendly and I enjoyed the accents. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. read more

This is a humble location and very much looks the part of a local diner. We arrived shortly before closing on a Sunday but they were happy to seat us. We ordered a double cheeseburger and a gyro sandwich. The food was promptly served, hot and fresh. The fries could have been a bit better. Overall great value for your money and good service. Scary bad. One "waitperson" (because you're always waiting on her, get it?) stumbling around the dining area apologizing profusely for being bad at her job, one dude in the back on the phone messing up the orders. Another Metra Trip to Harvard and of course another lunch stop at Town & Country. Four of us arrived hungry Saturday on the 12:20 p.m., train coming from Waukegan by way of Chicago. Having been here twice before, we knew the restaurant was just a block from the station. Talk about convenience. Nothing fancy here but full plates of food at reasonable prices. When I told Marge our waitress we had to be out in an hour for the 1:35 p.m., train back to Chicago, she was an angel making sure we had everything we needed in rapid time. I ordered the Liver and Onions dinner ($6.95) which came complete with soup or salad, potato and vegetable along with a small dessert. Two of the guys ordered breakfast and the other a Mexican dish. Horrifying decor, no public restroom (wtf?), extremely slow service when it's not busy at all, lukewarm food, old and wrinkly menus. The plus sides - ok tasting food that didn't give us food poisoning (if that could be a plus side?) and cheap prices...that's about it! Won't be going back, which is a pity because I'd like to appreciate local businesses. The place could use Gordon Ramsay with his "Kitchen Nightmares" show. read more

This place has not been discovered by the McHenry County Health Department. The weekend breakfast buffet is rarely above the warm stage. Service is usually good, but the real problem is presented when the food arrives. The family that owns this place has the Country Market next door which is famous for stale and rancid. No public restrooms Microwaved old coffee Really greasy food One refill on soda, after that you are charged for each additional refill. Great for breakfast as that is hard to mess up. Love the pancakes or waffles. Does eggs great too. However, you need to add your own seasonings as the biscuit and gravy does not have pepper. My husband loves the various skillets. As for the other meals they are nothing special and kind of bland. Some reviews said no public restroom. They are actually down the hall. read more

clump of HAIR IN OUR FOOD AT WOODSTOCK LOCATION, they don't have any listings for Woodstock location, 2 cooks did not have any hairnets on, waitress didn't do anything about it but, apologize. Pick another place in town when you get off the train. Dirty, the most terrible non ventilated restroom. The decor is early garage sale or old Home interiors. Salad is old, coffee is the worst, NO AIRCONDITIONING. The cook is on the phone and if you get the wrong or bad meal the owner thinks its your fault. The floor hasn't been cleaned or waxed in years. My son and I had lunch here today. First time. And last. We both started with "Beef vegetable soup." It was a very pale orange-ish color, with a ton of (mostly) corn and, if there HAD been beef in it, I could not tell you where it had gone, and the consistency of a very thick stew. Gross. My son ordered "a double burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and ketchup." He orders that exact thing the same exact way every time we go out to eat. I ordered a lumberjack sandwich, which was described to me as "a steak sandwich with grilled onions and mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese." Sounds good, right? Since they have a ribeye steak sandwich on the menu, I assumed that's what she meant by steak. My son's burger came out with cheese. He won't eat cheese, and therefore, would never NEVER say CHEESEburger. When I told the waitress, very politely, that he didn't order cheese on it, she proceeded to ARGUE with me! She said, as she pulled out her order pad to look, "He said he wanted a double cheeseburger with..." I said, no, he ordered a burger. Again, she argues, but takes it back. Mine turns out to be either an oblong-shaped ground beef patty, or if I choose to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe a chopped steak patty, with a ton of grilled onions, very few barely warm mushrooms, and mostly melted mozzarella on a hoagie roll. Tasted ok, but not what I was expecting. When my son's burger comes back out, he thought it tasted pretty good, but said he thought it smelled weird. I thought he was probably smelling the chemicals from the lettuce. But about 2/3 of the way through, he took a bite and had to spit it back out, he turned pale and started to gag - I swear, I thought he was going to puke right there! He said it tasted like that bite was spoiled. SPOILED meat! I finish my iced tea, while my son is still eating, and the glass sits empty in front of me - she never even bothers to ask if I want a refill. When we decide we've had enough, we move our plates to the end of the table - the universal symbol for "I'm ready for the check" - I take out my wallet, set it on the table with my debit card on top, and wait for the check. I wait like that for a good 5 minutes before she comes by. Then when she brings the check she drops it, says have a nice day, and walks away. Now, there's no register in sight where you go to pay - you pay the waitress and she takes care of it. So I sit there with my card on the table for a good 15 minutes while she completely ignores me, cleaning tables, serving a couple of customers, and checking her phone. When she finally comes remotely near my table, I hold up the check and she says, "Oh. Are you ready?" Now, I am usually a big tipper - generally 25 - 35%. I used to be a waitress. But I left her $2 with a little note saying we wouldn't be back. If I could give this place Zero stars, I would read more
