Sum up my experience in one word, disappointing. I had never visited this place because someone posted the menu on NextDoor and there wasn't a vegan option so I figured it wasn't for me. However, we wanted to try something new, so I called and asked if they could accommodate two vegans, and they said absolutely. They more than encouraged us to come in. We went on a Friday at about 2pm, and it was very crowded,and the service was very slow. When I ordered I asked for the mushroom sandwich with no dairy(cheese), and then I asked the waitress if it had any aioli on it as well, as I couldn't eat that either. She ensured me it didn't and re-read the menu description to me, which was a little condescending honestly. We ended up coming with five people. Our food took a very long time to arrive and they delivered one of the five dishes a solid five+ minutes after the other four, which created that situation where no one would touch their food while we all waited. I guess the long wait made me bite into my sandwich without looking at the contents. Half way into I tasted a big gob of mayo, and I looked and it was covered in it. It took me a long time to get the waitresses attention to tell her and by then everyone else was done. I informed her that I was going to now be ill in about two hours as I don't eat egg products and haven't for about a decade. When they are snuck into a meal, it is not a pleasant experience for me unfortunately. She did not even look like she understood why I was concerned, and seemed to lack any kind of empathy or understanding. She agreed to take the sandwich off our bill, but the stomach ache that I was now anticipating didn't care that I got to eat half a free sandwich. Maybe the people answering the phone should get on the same page with the cooks and waitstaff regarding what vegan means. I felt like our waitress was poorly trained on the menu and dietary needs. My local FAVORITE. John and his team are a hidden gem in Moraga. Close to St Mary's College and the many sport activities hosted on the weekends at Campolindo. Seasonal menu with organic and gluten free options. Secret menu: lumpia! I regularly order from their catering menu and ask John to make possible my order with flying colors. Always a BIG hit with friends and family! Bakery: favorite blueberry muffins and scones. Salad favorite: mixed green. Piadini with salad topped with fried chicken is the BEST. read more

Things went wrong. Badly wrong. Where should I start? The food: We didn't have much of it, but what I had was inconsistent. The pancake was pretty good, and I actually enjoyed it. The eggs were eggs. The bacon was a little dark. The fruit cup was a fruit cup. The only reason this review is getting a 2nd star is the the Pancake. Overall, the food was pretty average. Price-wise, it felt a bit expensive for what we got, as a 15 dollar pancake seems steep. I am used to getting a hell of a lot more when I get a 16 breakfast item. The Service: We arrived at 11am, and were seated quickly. We must have arrived at the middle of the height of the rush because they were behind and were not catching up. We waited 40 minutes + for our food. My pancake came to the table 5 minutes after the rest of my combo which was odd. You could tell that the kitchen was trying its hardest to pump out food, but it seemed that the front of the house was in complete disarray. Runners didn't seems to know the table numbers, and their leadership seemed exasperated. Our server was a nice guy, but made the mistake of telling my wife the Quiche was vegetarian. When it came out it was full of bacon. Had it not taken 40 minutes to plate my pancake, we might have ordered something else but it was too late at this point. He did try to make right by offering us some very nice blueberry poundcake which she enjoyed. Sadly though I am eating a hotdog as I write this because I am still hungry. Cant recommend. read more

I love Town Bakery for breakfast and their pastries are so good, particularly their blueberry scones. It's a relaxed place and the employees are incredibly nice & hardworking. I haven't tried the dinner options yet, but hope to in the future. read more

Food is pretty good. Bakery is really delicious. Would definitely go and pick some up. However, I'm not sure I'd go back for a sit down meal. We were served by a woman who was very unfriendly and had a clear attitude. The owners probably know who it is. They should think about replacing her as she is making the business look bad and customer experience horrible. read more

This review is very long overdue because I have been in love with this place for over a year. We moved from SF a year ago after having lived there for 15 years. We went out several times a week in SF until we had our little one so we had a deep knowledge of the restaurant scene while there. I was usually the person my friends hit up for the restaurant recommendations which I was happy to supply. With that in mind, our bar is likely a bit high just because of the exposure to so many great places to eat in SF, Oakland, Marin, etc. Enter Town Bakery. I swear, if this place was in SF it would have a line out the door. Some things I love about them: Family run (John is awesome), the service has always been kind and attentive, the prices are very reasonable especially given that the food is locally sourced and fresh/healthy, and the food is delicious. You can taste how fresh the fruit is, how thoughtfully the menu was made. I have yet to have a dish here I didn't enjoy. The ambiance is open, airy, family friendly, and tasteful. I have yet to find a flaw with this place (and that's saying something :) We're very happy to have found this hidden gem. They have life long customers with me and my family. Really great work guys. This place is bbbbbusy! Because the food is amazing. For those that complained about the service...well they are busy! I admit I stood around for a while because I didn't know where to go to order my to go order (first time there) and it was chaotic but while I was standing around, 4 servers came up to me to ask if I needed help before and after I ordered. After I ordered, the lady who was packing the food asked me what I ordered so she could expedite my order. When I took it home, my family and I really enjoyed our sandwiches. Thank you Town Bakery! Me and my boyfriend love this place on the rare opportunity that we can make it out of the house early enough for brunch. Good thing they serve until 2pm We managed to get out to see the sun today. When we got there we were a little trepidatious, because it looked busy being Mother's Day and all, but we got a table right away. I'm a vegetarian and my boyfriend doesn't eat meat when he's with me, so we got our usual, the beyond burger (sooo tasty) and French toast (fruity and sweet and melt in your mouth). We also tried the roasted potatoes which are AMAZING We were stuffed after that, but couldn't resist when the waitress mentioned tiramisu which was one of the best slices I've ever had and I like LOVE love tiramisu. Best food in Moraga, hands down. Don't pass up the opportunity to try the chicken and waffles which are the best thing on the menu and maybe in my top 3 chicken and waffles in all of CA. Amazing brunch but even better dinner. Food is cooked with love and creativity and baked goods and coffee are outstanding. This is just the kind of place we have been needing in Moraga! I drove 40 mins here only to find out they didn't update their hours on Yelp because I got here before 8am and their Yelp says it opens at 6am on Sunday (see pictures). I recently went home to see the family and they brought me here for lunch. They told me they found a hidden gem that made the best breakfast items. We didn't know they had a lunch menu but that's ok because the food did not disappoint. It was so good I had to come here for breakfast before heading back to Pasadena. Loved the food. This place uses fresh ingredients. Everything on the menu is good. It's a cozy cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I will definitely be back the next time I visit my family. read more

Service has not improved since opening day. Always give a place a year or so to work the kinks out. But, no matter how excellent your food may be and it is. Having been passed up by customers arriving after me and being ignored by the three young wait staff and older lady was odd and insulting to say the least. An unmitigated disaster. It appears that the owner of this establishment randomly selected three teenagers from off the street, provided them no Training, no problem solving skills, and no access to assistance, and turned them loose to "serve" the public. Good on them for doing their best. There are no salt and pepper shakers on the tables, my food sat and got cold while I waited for napkins and utensils, customers were served out of order, portions were roughly 1/2 to 2/3 of what a normal human would expect, it was very similar to something of the Denny's nature in quality, The toast was not battered whatsoever, and I am tired and can't go on. My recommendation: make a different choice, and take your chances. read more

This place is so cozy and cute and the food is awesome. I was visiting my niece in Nor Cal and went here for lunch. Had the portobello mushroom burger. It was delicious. We made a mistake and sat outside because the patio looked so cute. It was really hot and the lemonades didn't help either. They need to put some fans outside. Just enjoyed my sixth meal at Town....and no kidding, everything I tried whether lunch or dinner superbly cooked and delicious! Hubby and I just had their new dinner item...Porchetta..a wonderful tender sliced pork with thin to die for crunchy crackling. Love their fried chicken sandwich; buttery tender scallops and decadent mash potatoes; great beef and lamb burger; freshly squeezed organic o.j., lovely custard tart. The staff is eager and happy to serve and so friendly. And how great it is family owned. Great warm atmosphere too. Such a joy to go in there. I am a serious health nut. Their ingredients are almost all organic or grass fed or healthfully raised. Quality, and super care in cooking and prep, fantastic taste and wonderful service....can't beat it. Worth every penny. Town has definitely improved since the last time I came. My friends were in town & wanted to go to brunch. One mentioned Town & I was a bit hesitant because of how underwhelmed I was last time we came. We ended up ordering a raspberry muffin, and omelet, pork belly sandwich, eggs & sausage, & I got a matcha latte. The star of the show was definitely the pork belly. It was sooo tender and flavorful. The omelet was again okay, nothing that stood out, and the sausage & eggs were pretty typical. I was very happy when I saw an assortment of fruit with my meal, rather than the wedge of melon we got last time. The raspberry muffin was very moist and so good with the sugar crystals on top. When we walked in, they had cornbread and their chocolate chip & marshmallow cookies out for sample. The cornbread was really moist and wow those cookies were so good. My boyfriend regretted not getting one while we were driving away. Their plates are on the pricier side, but definitely head for the baked goods and you can't go wrong! read more

I want this place to succeed, and the location is perfect for this kind of restaurant. But I'm surprised but the good reviews because the service is bizzarro. Truly one of the worst in the area. My wife and I had an early breakfast, and here is how it went: no greeting, no offer of coffee, no menus given (we had to track someone down for each), the chef had to come out and ask us what we wanted after we waited so long to order. She was the only shining light along with the food. When our coffee was low, I asked for a refill and then was ignored. Had to go to the counter and ask again. Meanwhile during this entire comical episode, one of the workers? Owners? Was sitting at a table on his phone the whole time. Other workers just ignored us and seemed more interested in pouring themselves coffee. Did I mention we were the only people there for most of the time? I am usually a heavy tipper, but not this time. And this place is doomed to fail with this management. read more

I have passed this place countless times and never stopped. Just had lunch, sat outside and was really impressed. I split a Brussels sprout salad and albacore tuna toast with fries and was surprised how generous the "split" was! Alot of food, real fresh, great flavor and good selections. Been a while since my last review but I have to give it to these guys. I walked in not expecting very much but upon closer inspection I was really impressed. First the pastries are all amazing - wanted to try them all! I ended up getting a savory one and a sweet one. Everything is organic, even the 1/2 and 1/2 they put out for the coffee. The coffee is also very good - they use a local fair trade / organic brand. I'm pretty particular about certain things and my coffee is one of them. I'm happy to have stumbled into this place and I'll definitely be back for more! read more
