We tried this place while dropping our daughter off at St. Mary's. Food was really good here. Quality was there from the chef for sure. I believe this is what people come here for. For this I give 2 stars. On the downside, there were 4 employees trying to cover the patio and indoor area. They struggled to seat people, take orders and deliver food. An employee was wandering tables and kind of cleaning up but could have been managed to help out better. Our (junior?) waiter was not aware he had our table and rushed us to order when he finally came. He seemed pretty scrambled & never checked on us again with someone else delivering our food. When we had to leave, I had to run down 3 employees to get our server to total our bill. He came over & fumbled his way through the Square payment box. My daughter loves their food but going forward, we'll leave this place to the locals who seemed to get a little more attention. Staff needs better training. read more

One of my fave brunch spots in the east bay. The lamb burger was so delicious! It comes with a large side salad and fries! The chicken and waffles were delish and you get plenty of chicken. Wow! Town Bakery's Family Meal -- Extreme Deliciousness. Restaurants have had a hard time of it during the pandemic, when one is absolutely killing it I feel like we should shout it from the rooftops! So here goes: Town has the most delicious, most inventive, best value family meals you can imagine. I don't know who is behind their menu and execution, but they are genius. Each week Town offers a different family meal. There is HUGE variation in the offering. One week it might be a full Korean spread, the next week Italian, the next week Continental...and they seem to be equally good at all types. I can't wait to see what they dream up each week. This week's menu included: Chicken piccata (absolutely delicious) Pizza with asparagus, peas, bacon and ricotta (inventive and yummy) Pesto Penne (seems basic, but it was more flavorful than most) Bruschetta with a combo tomato/strawberry topping (again, different, but it works!) Focaccia (this is not a throwaway, they ARE a bakery, and it shows) Tiramisu (a great big slab of it) If you don't want the family meal, they have other regular menu items. Their fried chicken is to die for, their pizzas are fantastic, and I think they put crack in their chocolate chip cookies because they are completely addictive. Recently ventured back to this local eatery after hearing of its revival and thought it deserved another chance. While the atmosphere is always pleasant, the service and food were less than appealing. While others in the town have subgroup the praises of this establishment and I too wish to support all things local, I must say that my experience was less than stellar. I mean it is tough to get a fish sandwich wrong, but it arrived cold with the soggy fries and had to be sent back. While the manager should be praised for a prompt response to correct the matter, my guest chose to wait, letting her meal turn cold. While I might be imagining things, the waitress came back just a few minutes later with the check, despite the fact I clearly had not had time finish the sandwich. All and all, I can't agree with the majority of the neighbors that enjoy this place, but glad we still live I a democracy! For a town lacking in brunch alternatives, I had hope to describe a better experience but alas, that is not the case! I'm so glad that we have such a wonderful restaurant in Moraga. The outside seating is delightful. There is plenty of room and thr umbrellas protect all the tables. I love the food. My favorites are the fish tacos, salmon toast, and the vegan burger. The salad is always delicious. They use super fresh ingredients. The wait it staff is excellent. I would like to start this review with my first thought; I do not understand how this place has an average of 4 and a half starts, it led me to have high expectations, only to be terribly disappointed. I went here because most breakfast places nearby with a high star rating on yelp were busy, and I mean busy, like 40 minute wait. I called this place up and they said they had no wait, so it was like sweet, here we go. To start with when we get there, there were no tables open, they were just cleaning one up and the host/server/employee said oh once its cleaned we could have it. So we are waiting there for it and an individual lady comes up to him and asks for the table. He gives her the table, it is a table for 4, and he seated it to her while there were 3 of us. Mildly annoying, but we did not want to cause a scene so we went with it. We were sat just on the edge of the restaurant and partially in the sun (the lady wanted the other table because it was shady), but oh well, we thought, if the food was good, this would be worth it. Well; they served us room temperature water on a hot day, surprising to not be served ice. So we asked for ice, we got ice, but it was dirty. I have literally never had this happen, the ice was dirty, there were yellow speks on the ice? I will attach a picture for clarification, but the ice was not clean, which is astounding, how do you fail at that? Now, to continue, the service was unremarkable, we had about 4 different employees approach our table. Our first waiter/employee serving us was pretty confusing about the menu, he did not even seem to know what was on burgers, what was on the menu. Another person I was with ordered a burger, and wanted to add bacon, but apparently you would have to pay 5$ to get a side of bacon.. It was not an option to add bacon to a burger??? without paying 5 dollars. That one was surprising. Then onto the food, after waiting approximately ~45 minutes for the food, it came out with so many additions to it. There was a salad with the burger, there were chives in the eggs. Like if you're going to put a salad on the plate as a burger, atleast write about it on the menu. Or the fact when you order scrambled eggs you "get" chives with it, I do not want chives in my eggs. The eggs were also pretty watery, not in a good way. The potatoes were good, the sausages were alright, but not that good. I have literally never encountered a restaurant to be so presumptuous with just adding stuff to your order. It was not wanted, it was not enjoyed, nor was it expected. Other than these issues, the food was good, it wasn't special, it wasnt anything to write home about, but it wasn't bad. On a Tuesday morning, by myself, I entered for the first time. I had found them on Yelp so I was very optimistic. Once inside, I was a little disappointed. There is no signage, I didn't see any, that tells the new visitor where to begin. There was no line so there was nobody to follow. Staff was busy doing their duties No one noticed I had walked in or try to make eye contact with me. I'm a big girl. I can figure things out. The bacon and eggs were tasty. On yelp it says that there is waiter service. Not really. You order and pay your tip ahead of time. Then someone brings you food to your table. I had to ask multiple times for water. Utensils and napkins are on the table in a bin. The place has great potential. I may visit again If in the area. Hopefully, management will train staff to proactively assist and suggest featured or signature items to a new guest rather than simply be order takers. Also, it would be great to see them add sneeze guards over all the bakery items, as well as, not leave the utensils and napkins on each table In a bin. It may be cute yet it's not sanitary. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable on everything in the menu, so feel free to ask for their opinions on what to order if you have questions about anything. My hubby and I tried this place and it was great! The chicken and waffles were so perfect wanted to have them again the following week. Unfortunately the following week they took forever to get and when we did the waffles were different from my plate to my hubbies. Took forever to get the syrup we asked for. Then my hubby bit into his chicken and it was bloody. We then checked all the remaining pieces to make sure they were cooked. Not an enjoyable way to eat. We complained to our server who turned out to be the manager. He basically said it's organic thats why its red. WTF really? Then the cook in the kitchen took the piece from my hubby and put it back in the fryer. The manager brought it back overcooked and just left it on the table. He then ignored us after that. Luckily one of the other server helped is. She was very nice and apologized for everything. Unfortunately we do not feel comfortable coming here. My lunch was stone cold when it arrived. So, I asked the server if the kitchen could reheat it. Soon after, Tony came over to my table and told me, "the food was not cold, and if they re-make the dish, it will be the same temperature." He then pointed around the restaurant and said in a rather loud voice, "No one else has complained their food is cold, just you." I was stunned. My issue with the food wasn't subjective, like thinking it contained 'too much salt'; my food was objectively cold. Soon after, I got a replacement dish, it was hot. Once it was served, Tony returned to the table and said, 'I've been told I need to come to apologize, and been told not to talk to customers like that.' Well, at least he was honest. When lunch was over, Tony returned to the table for a third time and said, 'I will pay for your lunch out of my own pocket.' I refused his offer. The re-made food was good. I ate it. I wanted to pay. This was the first time I'd ever returned food in a restaurant. And the first time, I've been berated in a restaurant by a staff member. Apparently, Tony is the Town Cafe manager. In which case, he sets a terrible example for the rest of the team. Other than my interaction with Tony, the rest of the Town Cafe staff are very efficient and pleasant. But, I have to wonder, how long that will last given the attitude of the Cafe management. read more

I like this place for lunch/brunch. I'll admit I didn't when the first opened as they were still trying to get it together. Today, they are great. I love their very tasty street tacos, avocado toast, chicken salad sandwich, burgers, pizza & most of their breakfast items. I can't seem to get their before 11am for breakfast items. I am really unclear why this place has so many decent reviews - it must have taken a turn for the worse because it's clearly under staffed and the staff that they do have, a few in particular have a really bad attitude and could care less about customer service and I witnessed blatant verbal abuse of customers sitting nearby... I would rather starve than go back and suffer through this ... it was really cold outside and they refused to turn on the heaters and it took about 45 minutes to get the food that wasn't great. We finished moving my daughter into her new place and decided to have dinner before we left. I saw this place on Yelp and decided to try it! Definitely glad we did! It is very easy to drive by this place and it is somewhat hidden but look for it. They have an outdoor patio area and the weather was very nice that day. They're dinner menu looks like it changes daily as the menu photos on Yelp were not what we were presented with but it was still very good. Italian was the theme that night and I chose the chicken parmigiana. Big piece of chicken breast over pasta. It was very good as were all of the dishes we had. Eggs came out as requested, bacon requested extra crispy came perfect and pleasantly surprised that I got one English muffin and one sourdough.
