My wife and I just finished a take-out order and it was truly disappointing. The front desk/phone staff don't appear to be the most attentive... ordered Fried Ravioli off the on-line menu and got a call back saying they no longer sold it (after taking the order). Twice said "No Mayo" on a BLT and of course we got mayo. Ordered onion rings instead of fries and the few provided could not have been drier. When ordering, they couldn't answer how many "wings" came with a serving. Like I said, disappointing. read more

Food was terrific. Pancakes and omelettes were fluffy. Both melted in your mouth. There was a little too much butter on top of the stack of pancakes, but nothing to complain about. Went there and ordered an omelette with ham, feta, and tomato. The omelette was sloppy and not tasty. They overcooked the eggs, all the feta was pushed to one side and the tomatoes were not cooked and cut into huge chunks! My fiancés omelette wasn't any better! And they charged extra for a apple sauce substitute that wasn't even homemade. I'll stick with Americana they at least know how to cook and make everything homemade. read more

This diner was a perfect place to stop on our vacation travels home to CT. We found it by accident avoiding traffic and we were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the service, food and atmosphere. The patrons as well as the staff were all very nice. We accidentally left behind our young son's brand new souvenir hat and since we were on the way home to CT, we couldn't return to retrieve it. We called on the off chance that they would have found it and as soon as I explained our predicament, the woman on the phone offered to mail it out to me right away. I thanked her and several days later the hat arrived in the mail! What a small but wonderful way to be kind! We will certainly recommend this diner to anyone and will try to return if our travels ever take us back that way. read more

Varied menu. Prices ok, ordered an Tex Mex omelette. It was delivered quickly, but it had cheddar cheese not jack cheese, like the menu said. Believe me, I cook. I know the difference and this omelette would have been better with Jack cheese. Two slices of toast had almost no butter. Service was indifferent. She never came back to ask if I wanted a drink. The service and food has been absolutely terrible lately. I don't know what's going on. My husband and I are loyal patrons but have been finding ourselves going elsewhere for breakfast recently. The last time we were there they refused to make me a cappuccino because they were short staffed and didn't have someone manning the machines. This diner pleasantly surprised me. Usually one with a sophisticated palette would have lower expectations from a diner. But everything I've ordered here thus far has actually been very good- some dishes are even safe to say, outstanding. Their chicken Marsala was actually very good. And even the presentation of the food is decent. I also enjoy their soups and appetizers. Tonight I ordered their meatballs in a marinara sauce, and let me tell you, no exaggeration: it beats out lots of local Italian eateries! The meatballs were amazing and the sauce was to die for. And this isn't even an 'Italian' establishment by genre. I'm also impressed with their mashed potatoes. Now, the ONLY thing that was disappointing were two things: my husband ordered pulled pork sandwich and a side of fries, and they gave him an oddly small portion of fries, and according to him, the pulled pork tasted akin to cafeteria food. When you dine in, the service is pretty good- some of the servers are sub-par when it comes to re-filling glasses of water. But overall, this place is a great diner. read more

I was here on 12/26/15, along with my husband and several other people. Most of us had burgers. I had a turkey burger, hold the roll (I'm gluten sensitive), I believe it was Mexicali style. It was the best turkey burger I ever ate, cooked perfectly and the fries were also very good. Our waitress was very attentive and brought exactly what we ordered. Visiting my senior parents in this area, we are always on the lookout for a spot that is good, friendly, and not too expensive, but offers delicious food. I was not excited when they told me this diner had new management and was excellent. I stand corrected. Their menu had such diverse sandwiches, wraps, melts, and paninis. I had a chicken avocado sandwich (which I asked for grilled, rather than fried-no problem) with the freshest roll, juicy chicken breast, and a ton of fresh avocado. It had chipotle mayo, which thankfully I ordered on the side (as it was a bit to spicy for my taste). The fries were tasty and crisp. I tasted my mother's shrimp Parmesan sandwich and couldn't believe how full of shrimp it was, and again, the freshness of the roll. She has had it 4 times in a row and loved it every time. My dad had the chicken Parmesan and it was equally satisfying. Both parents were watching their sodium and asked for a French fries substitute, as they were pre-seasoned. They got delicious baked potatoes in exchange. (Possibly adding salt-free fries in the future would be helpful, given the clientele in the area). The service was friendly and spot on and the establishment was clean. I truly hope they get busy and stay in business. It was so nice to have a break from City Streets & the Americana. read more

I have been here a couple of times and have never had a problem with the service until today. My two friends and I walked in and the older lady was about to seat us when I asked for a booth. She looks at me and looked at my friend and said are you sure you'd fit in a booth? My friend a little larger but not to the point where fitting in a booth is a problem. But the fact that she said that to a customer burns me up. Then, the server was impatient and slow. It took her 20 mins to bring a coffee refill. I then go to pay and am asked how everything was and I said you don't want me to answer that and instead of asking what was wrong, she says ok and takes my credit card and finishes up. Great diner for brunch. The outside decor felt very unique. Came here for Sunday brunch with about 20 people from out of town, the service and food were all really great. This is still our "go to" diner in this area. Good food, friendly and prompt service and a generally nice atmosphere. My only complaint is that there are just too many TVs on and the majority of them are tuned into one station that has it's own political agenda. If you must put on political commentary how about another channel with an opposite view to be fair to all your customers particularly in this election season. read more

Not sure what's happening here but I hope they can address the issues of poor service and bad food. I've been 3 times, first time was average to poor so I thought I'd try again, this time we had an awesome waitress, delicious food and overall a really great experience. I was happy and looked forward to coming back. 3rd visit was worse than the 1st. We had this odd experience with our waiter who would sit in a booth on the other side of the restaurant and peer into our section where he was supposed to be working. Several customers were asking other servers where he was and could they find him. Invariably he would reappear act super attentive and friendly, then disappear! It was so odd it was almost funny. I say almost because it was more frustrating than anything else. Finally another server delivered our food and mine was a special that honestly looked inedible. At this point we decided to cut our losses and leave. I found the manager and as I was talking to him about what transpired, the elusive server jumped out of his booth and raced to his tables, that was humorous! The manager could not have been nicer and while apologetic, really had no response to the poor service. Please guys, fix your service and food issue. This place could be amazing! You can bring your own alcohol, it has a great old fashioned diner menu and it's decorated nicely. I want to go back and would love for this to be a go to place, but it's just not good right now. I hope they can turn it around. I'll keep my eye on the reviews and hope for the best. Bottom line: if you go and get a qualified, friendly server and stick to the basics: burgers, breakfast etc., you should be okay. The problem is you won't know until you're seated. read more

The Town Diner replaces several other restaurants that were in this location. I went with little expectation but was greatly surprised. Not only was the meal (early birds 'til 5:30 pm) quite economical, but the food was very high quality. I especially enjoyed their pasta sauce which was as good as any I have ever tasted at restaurants that charge 5 times the price. OK, maybe my sister's pasta sauce is better, but not by much. One of the desert options (included with early bird) was a fresh fruit cup that was delicious and bountiful. read more

My wife and I have tried this diner several times, with middling results. Our last visit was this past weekend, with my visiting family in tow. We needed a table for 10. After about a ten minute wait while the maître d' was in furious discussion with some of the staff, they gave us a table in the unused part of the restaurant. Temperature outside, 92. Temperature inside, about the same. After we mentioned how warm it is, they agreed to turn the air conditioner on.(!) the dinner went down hill from there. Food was bland, tasteless, and colorless. They left off items that were described to be on the dish( onions, gravy, etc.) most of my party ate less than half of their meals. When my elderly mother mentioned her dissatisfaction to the cashier, she simply said, "sorry..." When I mentioned that response to the "maître d'", he just looked at me, but said nothing. This restaurant needs a stronger management presence, rather than this guy. On other visits we were 'triple' sat, meaning our server had three tables all needing to be served at the same time, while other sections were empty, but the maître d' still sat us there. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted by the server, then asked to be seated elsewhere. On another visit, I was served almost raw bacon on a club sandwich, and when I mentioned it, was told a generic "sorry". There is a need for a great, or even good diner in a East Windsor... Unfortunately, this isn't it. read more

The place is relatively clean and comfortable. I recommend the burgers and pancakes, two of my favorites from here! Really pleased with everything about my experience at this place. The service was fast and friendly. The omelette I had was excellent... honestly, as good as any I've ever had. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and delicious. In the past, this place and it's previous incarnations have always played second fiddle to the Americana in East Windsor, but the Americana is not what it used to be and Town Diner has really stepped it up. Absolutely horrible service this evening. I have gone to Town Diner on numerous occasions and have always raved about their quality food and service until now. I ordered some breakfast for take out, specifically the farmers omelette, which i repeated 3 times on the phone. When i pick up my food, the hostess clearly cared more about texting on her phone than helping me. Nonetheless, I get my food drive all the way home, and they gave me an omelette with salmon in it. Honest mistake, I understand that (but i don't eat fish so I was really grossed out!! haha). I drive back there and told them it was the wrong omelette, the hostess says "I thought you said salmon." I explained that i said farmers 3 times, i don't even eat fish. She then rolled her eyes at me as I asked for my money back. No apology, NOTHING!. I said to them "Not for nothing, its not a huge deal, I'm not upset, but no apology or anything?" She stared at me. Haha, I said this service is horrible and i won't be back. As I was leaving, she says "Okay good". ...Really? I didn't care about the food mixup, those things happen. But the absolute LACK of BASIC customer service? It's not rocket science guys. You just lost a customer and a lot of raving positive reviews I used to give my family and friends. read more

Our favorite area diner. Everything has been consistently good. We've been going there since their reopening after the Windsor Grande Cafe culinary failure. Now it's just good, classic diner food as well as some fancier fare. Good prices. Great service as well. Chocolate cheesecake is simply amazing!!! Unlike their competitor down the road, Town Diner has hard/Kaiser rolls for my pork roll and cheese sandwich...and they're really good rolls too, LOL. read more
