I was told they could do it in a few days - Tuesday. I mentioned that I have to pick up my child in Portland but they couldn't be bothered. I went down the road to Sullivan Tire and even though I didn't get my tires from them, they took care of me. Did I mention that I'm a one time customer? On a scale of 1-10 the communication at this facility is a negative 5. I drove an hour to this location to get my snow tires put on and left my car overnight because they only accept all day reservations this time of year. I got a call early the next morning letting me know my car was all set. The gentleman who called also let me know that I would need to replace my lug nuts before the next service. I traveled the hour back and paid the $62.25 but when I got to my car I found I had a tire light on. I immediately went inside and asked about it and was told I need to drive for 15 minutes and the light would go out. I asked if I could borrow a tire gauge just to check the tires before I drive off. They said they didn't have one but offered to take the car into the garage and check them for me. Said it would take about 45 minutes. I agreed and told them I would wait. After 10 minutes I was summoned to the counter where a different gentleman explained that the tire light was on because it came in that way. I asked why they didn't address it when the were working on it and was told they didn't do the work because of the lug nuts issue. I explained that I just paid for the service and was told I was all set. They quickly refunded my payment, apologized, and said bring it back when I've got new lug nuts. Apparently this shop which does nothing but tires doesn't stock any lug nuts for just such occasions which I found out from a mechanic friend happens frequently. Decide for yourselves if you want to do business here, but I won't be going back. read more

The idea of an appointment means that you actually get service when your appointment time comes. When I had my tires swapped last time I dumped it off the night before and they took care of it when they could. If that takes all day, that's on me. If they can't get it done, also on me. So I made sure to schedule an appointment a month in advance this time. Today I show up to a sign that says something like "due to high volume car may not get into a bay for 45-60 minutes." Fine, then tell me to come 45-60 minutes late. I'm timely for my appointments and I expect providers of services to be the same.This shouldn't be happening at 9 AM, I scheduled myself early in the day on purpose so there wouldn't be delays. They're either double booking or squeezing drop-offs between people who made appointments, either of which is unacceptable. I was texted a request to confirm my appointment so I was obviously showing up. I also stood at the counter waiting for ten minutes while a bunch of people stood around talking to each other or on the phone. The guy asked partial questions of me when he got to me. Or not even questions. He wanted the year of my car and just said "20" with no other words and looked frustrated that I didn't understand what he wanted. I've had similar treatment in past visits. read more

While driving into Bangor, the right rear tire blew out. It was down to the rim. We pulled into Town Fair Tire and asked if they could replace it. They offered to replace all 4 tires, of course, because they "were all worn" but it would take 3 or more hours. We explained we had a deadline and could only wait 2 hours and asked if they would use the spare to replace the bad tire so we could at least drive home safely. They declined. So we had to drive off their lot on the rim of the tire. We went to VIP who replaced the tire in an hour. We were willing to pay for their time to put the spare on, but they refused to help us. I switched to Town Fair Tire after multiple issues somewhere else. They have always been prompt and honest about the wait times. To remove snow tires and realign my tires, the cost is $89. I found that to be in line with other snow tire removal costs at two other competitors' locations. As they name states, they also have hundreds of tires for sale. Check in is a breeze, and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Their waiting area is comfortable, though simple. There is free wifi, free coffee, a TV and a food and drink vending machine. I absolutely recommend this place for your tire needs. read more

I will NEVER be back to Town Faire Tire. Where to even begin? I went in on Friday the 11th to purchase 4 new tires and an alignment. The quote came up to over 700 dollars. So asked him what for? TFT Charges over $20 PER TIRE to Balance tires. That is OBSURD and WAY over priced. Then they charge a fee to recondition my TPMS. Most TPMS Systems reset themselves. The guy at the counter said they would have to recondition them or they would have to replace them. That is 100% false. That should have been my first clue to bail out. I did not. They had no available times until the following Friday, a week later. Okay, fair enough. So I paid the over 700 dollars up front and received an invoice. Welp, I bring my car back on Friday at the scheduled time. They tell me it would be 2 hours. No problem. About an hour and half pass and I get a call that my car was ready. I go to the counter and the guy hands me my keys. I go out to my car and realize, no, in fact, NOTHING had been done. I go back inside and tell the guy. At that time another lady was speaking with the manager because TFT had messed up her appointment. The customer wanted the car done because she too had scheduled a time and the MANAGER says "Okay yeah, ill just call all my customers then and put you in front of them." EXTREMELY rude after TFT messed up. So then he comes to speak with me. I am then told they could NOT do the work because my "lug nuts are swollen and they couldnt get their tool on them." He stated he had tried to call me. I RECIEVED NO CALL. The only call I received was them telling my car was ready. ANOTHER LIE. I offered to go loosen them with my tool in the car. Then it changes to "oh we can get them off, we just cant torque them." So another lie. I asked If I could purchase lugs from TFT and he says no that I could "only get them from the dealership." ANOTHER LIE. So at this point, I just asked for my money back. The MANAGER would not give it back because I didnt have the card I used to purchase them. I had the invoice. I asked If I purchased the tires could he refund the rest of it. Again, no. So now I have to drive BACK today from Newport, on a donut mind you, to get my money back. Your manager has a terrible attitude, TERRIBLE customer service and lies. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE. They where busy and all this was, was a way to not have to do the work on a car. You guys overcharge for service and have terrible customer service. read more

I had them replace a single tire which was more worn than the rest. They replaced the wrong one. It was so cold the day I was there that I did not look to make sure they did a good job. By the time I noticed, they claimed that they replaced the one I told them to replace, which is not true. Now I now have a brand new tire paired with a bald one. They offered a discount on another new tire. Being a he-said/he-said situation, I have decided to take my business elsewhere. I found someplace else that will charge me $50 less anyway. read more

I was helped by Lee, who actually recommended I come back early Spring instead, when I was likely to get a better deal on them. He also gave me some excellent advice on how to get rid of my old, worn out ones, talk about going the extra mile!! I've been there twice now. The first time, when I went, I bought a set of $700 studded snow tires for the winter. Y'know that claim that you get a free alignment with a tire purchase? They charged me $50 for it. The second time I went to change my winter tires back to me all-weathers, and it took them an hour and a half to do it. They weren't packed, either. Horrible customer service. I called and made an appointment to get new tires. The day before my appointment I called to get a final price so that I would be prepared when I went in. When I called I got the call center and they told me I needed to call the store to get a final price, so I did and I got a price. When I went in for my appointment I was ready to pay and the price was about 60 more than what I was quoted. When my boyfriend spoke up to say that was not the price quoted the sales man started to argue and basically said we didn't talk to anyone in the store and the price given was incorrect. After several minutes of basically being called a liar they finally gave us the quoted price. And then we had to wait 2 hours for our new tires to be put on. Will never go back. read more

The tires I get that way have been all less than 6 months old, when I get them. Due to low yearly miles, and two trucks, my tires age-out rather than wear out...4 years of my tire life spent sitting in Town Fair warehouse is too much. Don't be fooled by the "Free" tire change over they advertise. It is not free... they charge $10.00 per tire to balance them. Plus tax it came to $42.20. I could have gone to a competitor at half the distance and had the change over done for $48.00. Also, last spring, after I bought new tires, one of the tire balance weights fell off in my driveway. I went to have my tires checked and they guy said I probably picked it up in my tread... even with no signs of scraping or damage. He then asked which tire I thought it came off of. I wasn't sure but said maybe the front right (the only one without a weight). They checked only that tire and said it was fine. The next day the car started to shimmy. I had to work so my wife took it in to have it checked again. She waited 20 minutes while everyone ran around and kept answering the phones. Then 2 guys walked in and they immediately asked if they could help them. She spoke up and was given an attitude as if it was a bother to wait on her. I called the manager the next day and instead of apologizing, he made excuses and said he was there and that is not what happened. Basically calling my wife a liar. I will not go back. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 9:00 am for a simple winter tire swap out. I did not leave the store until two hours later. No warning when I arrived that services would be running slow that day. I was not alone in receiving slow service. This is my second bad service experience in a row. During the last tire swap, the mechanic failed to properly insert the center trim piece in the center of the rim. When I got home, guess what was missing. When I checked the tires this time (live and learn), two of the trim pieces were loosely clipped in place. The caps of three lug nuts have also been broken off. The free swap over services came as part of a winter tire package (good price on the tires) but I am beginning to really regret the decision. read more

Great service! I purchased four studded snow tires the begining of October and this past week one of the tires went flat because of a damaged sidewall which was not repairable. The manufacturer did not offer road hazard insurance and TFT did not offer road hazard insurance. However, TFT did cover the cost of a new tire. The new tire cost us nothing. You won't find many if any others doing the same thing. I will need to purchase eight summer tires for two of my vehicles this summer and I will be going to TFT. They give me a price of 225 per tire. I told them I found them online for 191. I get to the store and guy matches the price. So after about 1 hour my truck is ready. I pay and drive about 3 miles and my low tire light comes on. They only put 60psi in my tires after being told to put 80. I go back and they supposedly put 80 psi in the tires. I head out 5 days later with my trailer and the truck handles like crap. I check the air pressure and it reads 65 psi and I notice they never put my valve stem extensions back on. This is a dually truck and the inside tire is nearly impossible to air up without extensions. So I call Mike at the tire dealer and explain my situation. He says his guys would not have taken the extensions off to change the tires. I asked if the changed the valve stem. He said yes. In order to change the valve stem you'd remove the extensions. Then he tells me there is no need to run 80psi in any tire. Door jam says 80psi and I tow a heavy trailer. Idiots and I will never spend another dime there. read more

Shady business practices. Alignment on my car and my mothers done so that tires were towing and chewed through 2 sets for her and I went elsewhere to have it repaired. I tried 3 times to get them to do mine correctly as I knew car was pulling. I was treated like a dumb girl and told everything was perfect and it was tire pressure or the tires. Stopped in to see if they had time to put 4 tires on. "Yes, should be an hour or an hour and a half." So I walk away, shop elsewhere, come back after 2 hours, sit down and wait. And wait. And wait. 2.5 hours in, I ask what the timeframe is- "Oh, you are next in the bay." So basically they had not started 2.5 hours after taking my money. I left again, got lunch, came back. Still not done. All said and done it took 4.5 hours to get 4 tires done. This would be OK had I known ahead of time, or at least I would be less angry about it knowing up front. I've had this experience at other tow fair tire shops- quick to take your thousand bucks, slow to do the work. In the end, 4 tires were installed. That's about all I can say for a positive. I won't be back. I hate VIP and wouldn't let them do any work beyond putting tires on, but at least they give you an honest assessment of how long the work is going to take. read more

I would like to say "Thanks," for servicing my daughters car on two different occasions. She's a student at U of Maine and went to them to repair a flat tire and remount the repaired tire on the car and the again by rebalancing a tire due to a lost wheel weight discovered with the steering wheel shimmy. These services were done free of charge. Now that's its time for new tires, I have bought four new tires from Town Fair.
