Red Lion Hotel Kelso Longview - Microwave and refrigerator in room

Refused a refund when I would not stay there and had to pay for another hotel for the night. I'm sure it's a common occurrence. Misty (Missy?) at the front desk was as helpful as she was prob allowed but the rest of the experience made me feel like I needed a shower. I'm far from a princess but I would recommend sleeping in your car before staying here.

Although we saw the reviews, we didn't expect it to be this terrible. Upon entering the hotel room, it smelled as if it hadn't been cleaned in a while. From reading the reviews prior to booking, I took it upon myself to bring cleaning supplies such as bathroom cleaner, disinfecting wipes and disinfecting spray. There were stains all over the carpet and chair. I started by wiping down all of the surfaces to which I found to be very dusty. I found a sharp (looks to be from A pocket knife) sitting on the night stand. The lamp did not work. I started spraying down the bathroom vanity, sink, shower/tub and toilet. There was hair and dust. I didn't grab a photo because I was super grossed out- but there was poop dried to the toilet seat. A toothbrush was behind the mirror- opening the closet we found a dusty shelf and a moldy kitchen sponge. The fan in the bathroom was covered in dust and hair and was impossible to clean. It's our fault for booking even with the reviews. The utter lack of sanitation/cleaning with it being such a popular area for sports families to stay is unsettling. My husband and son slept on an air mattress with blankets from home as they did not feel comfortable sleeping in the beds/sheets. The rest of our family drove back and forth from home for the tournament.

Monticello Hotel - Ruben grilled sandwich with tater tots & ranch dip

Initially…read morenot seeing signage, I went into the coffee shop which is just inside the main entrance & to the right: a beautiful shop, which was empty at that time. So I wandered around the lobby briefly, which is lovely & not attended- essentially no one was behind the counter. Then I heard one of my friends laugh & headed in that direction: the lounge is down a hallway, also to the right just past the coffee shop. The lounge also is lovely & offers a variety of different types of seating. I opted for my usual beverage of water & was pleased that it was served in a glass & not plastic. The menu is small, just one page: I ordered a Ruben with tater tots, of which 2 other ladies did as well but with fries. Mine was one of the first orders served. Hmmm, the bread looked like it had been on the grill too long, as it was rather dark in color As additional orders came out (there were 8 of us), which was fairly quickly, the bread of the other 2 Rubens were toasted golden brown! I did eat mine as served, but regretted it, as the taste of burnt bread lingered for quite a few hours. The grease was also of issue sadly- way too much! I was constantly wiping my hands on a napkin, and I only ate half of my sandwich! For a cook to take a little bit of extra time to put the sandwich on something (paper product) to absorb excess oil off the sandwich upon removal from the grill could really make the difference Despite aforementioned, the sandwich had a good flavor: meat, sauerkraut & thousand Island dressing Well, knowing is half the battle, so next time I'll state desired specifics first. I'd give this first experience 2.5 stars

The rooms smelled with the front desk person stating, well, this is an old property. The top bedding was mismatched and with burn holes. There are signs everywhere about being a non-smoking property.Toilet in one room tricky to flush. Refrigerator in the other room noisy and upon investigation the freezer was unusable due to deep ice and frozen bottles within the ice. Of note, bath towels and washcloths and one of the bed linens sets were black in color, so how can they be guaranteed to be cleaned well with bleach as noted at most motels. We pulled the bedding back to the mattress pads in just one room and after finding them to be completely stained with various probable body fluids from top to bottom and side to side and with other debris, we refused to stay. The front person stated she was aware of the condition of the bedding and the manager/owner had not remedied the situation in the year she had been there. Needless to stay no refund given when we refused to stay. I went to Expedia to explain with photos and they were not any more successful in obtaining a refund. Then went to AARP Travel services who contacted Expedia and still no refund from the property manager/owner obtained. There has been no response when OYO Corporate notified twice now. FYI-Expedia advised if in the future an unsatisfactory situation was found and they were part of the reservation process, to call their customer service in real time for assistance. I have also reported this property to the Washington State Department of Health, Housing Programs Environmental Public Health.
