1/18/21- This was probably one of the longer waits I've had to make for boba. There was such a long line, both for ordering and for pick-up. I was curious about the popularity so I had to give it a shot! -Jasmine green milk tea with pineapple jelly (50% sweetness, less ice)- The jasmine milk tea was quite delicious! It had light floral notes and the green tea was very smooth. Sometimes green tea can be too astringent for me but the tea quality was pretty pleasant. The milk wasn't too heavy either and with a little bit of tang from the pineapple jelly, the drink had delicious fruity and floral tones. -Store ambience and experience- The store itself was very clean and modern. There was one line for ordering and another line around the corner for people waiting for their drinks. People were actually getting confused and lining up in the wrong line so I hope they can make a clearer distinction next time. We waited about 10-15 minutes to order and another 10-15 minutes before getting our drinks. I've never seen so many people in line at one boba chain, especially since this location isn't particularly new. -Price/value- I paid about $6 for my drink. The jasmine milk tea was pretty decent but for the wait time, it wasn't exceptional. Overall, I enjoyed the jasmine milk tea here but the flavor wasn't fully justified by the long wait time. This place is generally crowded during prime hours so they've utilized online platforms such as DoorDash and SnackPass to ease the wait times for customers. Of course these platforms will charge convenience fees which takes away money from businesses that are already suffering during this time. If there's a small crowd, I encourage you to wait in the social distancing friendly line. If you're in a rush, there is a QR code at the door or I submitted that to Yelp photos. Visited this place on the fly just to try something new outside I-Tea and Happy Lemon. First off, this place is super clean. So they really have the covid management under control. There are social distancing marking on the floor and when you order, you order through a tablet yourself. From there, there are an assortment of drinks that you can customize too sugar and ice wise. I ordered a passion fruit green tea with regular sugar and no ice while my friend ordered a honey green tea. Once you order, you wait outside while they have a PA system call out order numbers. Thankfully this is one of those places where you can hear the numbers crystal clear. Finally this leaves the drink itself...which...gets a -1 star. It's good, don't get me wrong. But the boba pearls seemed a bit on the small side as opposed to other boba shops. On top of that, for whatever reason, the passion fruit green tea is a bit more tart than most places. Had I known it would be as tart as it was, I definitely would've bumped the sugar to 120%. But I suppose the taste itself isn't bad. I frequent the Oakridge location in San Jose and TP Tea stands pretty high on my list. I heard this was the original location so I had to stop by since I was in the area. The line went by slower than an average boba shop - there was a huge crowd of people waiting. That's how you know it's great! I ordered two C8 akas the 3Q TP Milk Tea which is their classic milk tea with three toppings. It tasted amazing - slightly creamy, strong tea taste, and great portion of toppings. The plaza has a huge parking lot so you will not have trouble finding a parking spot. Looking at the reviews the QQ noodle seemed to be popular. I have never had noodles as a topping in a boba drink so I thought, "What the heck, why not?" and ordered the C5 tie guan yin boba QQ milk tea ($5.50). The drink itself was fine and the QQ noodle topping was interesting. The texture is like boba (except thinner) but the chewiness wasn't anything too different from your boba. It's just that instead of expecting a ball it's thinner and longer. It was good to try the noodle topping once but it's not really my thing so I wouldn't get that again. Hands down one of my favorite places in the Bay Area for boba! The quality here is one of the best! My favorites are the tie guan yin tea latte (on the very left) with 50% sweetness and strawberry milk tea (middle) with 50% sweetness. The regular pearl milk tea on the right was pretty good too if you are looking for a basic pmt drink. Growing up around the Cupertino I've tried a good amount of boba shops and this one is one at the top. Yes the drinks here are a little more pricey but for the quality of the drinks I say it's worth it! And the drink sizes are pretty big! This is the only boba shop where I get the tie guan yin the tea is a variety of oolong tea which is usually my go to type of tea at any shop! If you prefer a more creamy milk tea drink I suggest the tie guan yin but if you are looking for a more tea flavor get the tea latte! It's one of their popular drinks here! I usually get around 75% sweetness at other shops but the drinks here tend to be on the sweeter side. I've also tried the wintermelon tie guan yin but the regular tie guan yin tea latte is my go to. One of the other drinks I highly recommend if you like strawberry is their strawberry milk tea! The consistency of the drink is like an in between of a slushy and smoothie since it's not as thick! This one is also on the sweeter side so I get it 50% sweetness. There boba topping is also pretty good too! Every time I pass by this place I always see a line so I highly recommend downloading the Yamimeal app to save yourself the wait. Keep in mind if you spend less than $20 they charge of a service fee of $1 but it saves you maybe 20-30 min wait time. From my experience when you click ASAP for the online order on Yamimeal it takes about 15-20ish min or more depending on how busy they are but you can check the status on the app if it's being prepared or ready for pick up. I've heard so many great things about TP Tea so I was sooo excited to finally get a chance to try it out! I got the Tie Guan Yin Boba QQ Milk Tea and my boyfriend got the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea with boba. In my opinion, this store is their most consistent location compared to their other ones. My favorites and go to drinks are their green tea latte with boba (with oat milk - I am not lactose, but this drink taste better with the milk substitute for some reason). I get the drink at 50% sweetness and it is a sweet enough. I also tried their Mango Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha Latte. The matcha for both drinks were light, the mango and strawberry puree were stronger and a bit overpowering than the matcha taste. I waited about 10 minutes for my drinks. I have tried their jasmine milk tea (80% sweet, no ice), tie guan yin tea latte (50% sweet, no ice), and strawberry milk tea. They were all pretty good and you can really taste the tea (good balance of milk and tea!), but the tie guan yin and the strawberry were slightly better than the jasmine. The strawberry milk tea is different from other places as it was kind of like a smoothie/milk tea, but it is still really good! My go to weekly boba spot! I've been going to this place for a few years and no other boba place can beat it. As a kid, I loved QQ noodle as a topping and this is the only place I've seen so far that has it in my area. I love strong tea flavor so the drinks here are perfect. I usually get the Jasmine Milk Tea which was a slightly floral fragrance to it or the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea that was a roasted oolong taste. If you like toppings in your milk tea, I recommend the Tawain Classic Milk Tea which has boba, QQ noodles, and grass jelly for a good price. Along with the strong tea flavor, it is creamy and not too sweet. I branched out from the milk teas and tried the seasonal Mango Tea with Cheese Foam and it tasted very fresh with the creamy cheese foam. It is always busy on the weekends so I like to order ahead on the Snackpass app to skip the line. My boyfriend got the fantastic fruit tea with grass jelly. There was a bit of a wait but we got our drinks within 10 minutes. I liked my drink but it was a little bit too sweet for me and I wish that the tie guan yin wintermelon drink had adjustable sweetness. My boyfriend liked his tea but he said the fruit was sour in comparison with the tea. I would probably stick with getting the tie guan yin milk tea in the future but overall all of TP Tea's drinks are pretty solid and the tea taste is strong. We are frequent customers and have recommended this place to our friends and family. Customer service used to be great, but lately there have been multiple times where staff there have reprimanded us for requesting a bag for our drinks, stating that we have to pay for the bag. We had to point out to the staff that on the receipt it showed that we did purchase a bag. I think the staff need to be more respectful and actually READ the receipt before making an assumption that we didn't purchase a bag. Hands down one of my favorite boba milk teas. I don't know what they do, but I think they sprinkle some magic in those drinks. I'm one for simple drinks and got their regular boba milk tea with regular sweetness and less ice. You can taste the freshness of the milk tea and it doesn't taste like artificial sweetness like other boba places. The boba is smaller in size and a good type of chewy! Even after putting it in the fridge overnight, the boba was only a little bit harder in the middle which is different from other bobas where the entire boba is hard and doesn't taste good anymore. We had high hopes for this place because it's supposed to be from the "original" boba shop in Taiwan. TP Tea stands for Taiwan Professional Tea but the original boba shop is called Chan Sui Tang. C1 Milk Tea 4/5 We got this one at 50% sweet and felt like there was a strong honey flavor still. I didn't think there was anything super special about this but it was still a good drink. 2. C3 Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea 5/5 I thought this drink was excellent! It's the same iron buddha drink that is popular at Tea Era, but I think TP Tea does it better. I got 50% sweet for this one and thought it was the perfect amount of sweetness. 3. Fantastic Fruit Tea 4/5 I think this was a specialty tea they were making when I went but it has actual fruit pieces with basil seeds. It was a little bit too sour/lemon-y for my taste but definitely a refreshing drink. Prices are decent for the size of the drink you're getting in the bay area. I think the only con to this place is that the wait time was pretty long. First you have to line up to get into the store, and then there's a second line out the side door for you to pick up your drink. After ordering, I waited 25 minutes for three drinks. The orders started coming out pretty fast at the twenty minute mark so maybe a machine was broken. Heads up that there's a sign on that side door that flashes your number when your order is ready. As a side note, I asked one of the employees what the difference is between the Taiwan Classic Milk Tea (C4) and Milk Tea (C1). Once you finish you wait outside for your drink. I saw from other yelpers you can wait up to 30 min for your drink but it was practically empty when I went. It took them about 7 min to finish my drinks. I got the winter melon lemon tea for myself and tie guan yin with QQ noods, 30% sugar, and less ice for my friend. I forgot to adjust the sugar level in my winter melon tea since I don't like overly sweet drinks. How have I not yet reviewed what has quickly become my favorite place for milk tea in the Bay Area? Discovering this place has been the best part of my boyfriend moving down the street...besides being able to see him more frequently of course (BUT THE TEA. OMG.) Their boba is more hit or miss in terms of texture so I've been giving it a pass. 1/1 Star for Value -- It's around $5 for a plain milk tea without toppings but you get a much higher quality drink than most other places. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- I would recommend calling in your order ahead of time so you can skip the line. Drink-wise, TP Tea is one of the best places to get boba. Everytime I come here the quality is superb. They really deliver on the tea, and other fruit-based or smoothie drinks are also great. The last time I came here I got the Boba Mango Milk Tea, which was nicely sweetened with plenty of mango flavor and nice boba. This time the boba didn't have that much flavor, but usually it does, and it always has good texture - it must've not gotten enough time to soak in syrup or something. A big downside though is that everyone knows that it's good, so it can get very busy with long lines. It also can get confusing with the app and numbers since apparently they're not always accurate. I don't think their system is that great when they are busy like this. Last time we ended up waiting about an hour in total for our drinks, which I don't think is worth. This doesn't happen everytime, but you would probably have to come here on a weekday in order to not experience this. I got the strawberry milk tea with boba and it's rare that I get it because other spots make it taste very artificial! TP tea does it right by having strawberry bits blended with ice.
