Tried TP Tea for the first time last week after a friend was raving about it, and I must say, this place has some good boba! We got the strawberry milk tea (30% sugar) with crystal boba and it had the perfect amount of sweetness/milk tea taste to it. Love that you can order directly at the kiosk and they'll text you when your order is ready. I actually feel like the wait times they give you are inaccurate because my boba never took longer than 10 minutes which is amazing. I looked up boba in my hometown and there are so many new places I don't recognize. This one had a lot of reviews so I decided to check it out. There was a long line but it seemed it was moving fairly quickly, and thankfully I got to ordering super fast and my drink came out within five minutes. The cashier did a good job describing all of the best sellers which I was tempted to get, but I decided to get a classic milk tea with boba (30% sugar - drink is still plenty sweet & less ice). I liked how the cup was skinny (it's probably the same amount of dairy and sugar and boba but it was aesthetically pleasing than a normal sized boba cup). I liked the taste, it tasted more like actual tea than syrup/powder that a lot of boba places use. The only downsides were that the AC was blasting (it was 7pm in May, maybe about 60 degrees) and the music was so loud, it felt like I was in a late night club. read more

You know what you gotta do when you run out of TP...you need to go get more! That's what we did on a recent trip up north. Their tie guan yin milk tea had a fantastic roasted flavor that my family and I loved. I haven't found the same type of tea down here in Southern California. TP is pandemic ready. You order your drinks through a tablet. No interacting with the staff unless it is necessary. It was necessary my first time there as I had no clue what I was doing. The drinks are fairly priced under $5. They allow no more than 3 customers inside at a time. Everyone needs to stay outside and wait for their number to appear on a screen before you can go in to pick it up. Did I say that their tea tastes great? The boba was good. My wife and daughter liked it. Going to TP was just like going to Costco with a long line of people waiting. I don't think TP ran out of anything like Costco does. It was so good that we ended up going there 2 days in a row. We would've made it 3 days in a row if work didn't get in my way. I can't wait until I go up north again because I need my TP. read more

Came here with some friends because this is one of there favorite boba spots in the Bay Area. There is ample parking, so it's really easy to find a spot. I thought the drinks were above average, but not the best spot in the bay area though. There's also usually a line, so the wait can be pretty long sometimes, upwards to 1 hour sometimes. In the end, TP Tea is pretty alright, there's nothing disappointing about it and nothing spectacular as well. So do with that what you will. read more

Even though globaltrotter and super duper elite, Derek S. warned me that there's nothing special about TP Tea, I had to try it for myself. My first attempt was a fail because the line was too long so I thought I strategize a little. For my second attempt, I decided to go during the opening weekend for Crazy Rich Asians....thinking most AzNs would be at the theater for the bargain matinee of Crazy Rich Asians and/or the ABGs would still be in bed, hungover from Dreamstate. Nope, there was still a line wrapped around the corner BEFORE their 12 noon opening. Good thing I arrived 30 minutes before opening and was first in line so I got my order in hand in 35 minutes. It's crazy that people are waiting 1-2 hours for TP Tea. TP Tea's menu offers several types of teas: Black, Green, Matcha, and their signature Tie Guan Yin (Oolong) tea. Milk teas are made with non-dairy creamer and lattes are made with real milk. There's only one size for their drinks and prices are $3.50 - $4.99. Toppings are 50 cents each: boba, aloe, grass jelly, qq noodle, agar, brown sugar jelly, etc. You can adjust sweetness levels for most of their drinks: 0%, 30%, 50%, 80% or 100% and you can adjust ice levels. BEWARE: Their sweetness levels are hella Americanized. I'm glad I read through the less than stellar reviews because they were spot on. 30% sweetness IS plenty sweet and is equivalent to 50-75% sweetness at other tea shops. I ordered the C3. You can tell they use good quality tea but even at 30% sweet, it was still too sweet so it masks the tea flavor. The grass jelly had a glassy smooth texture. My friend ordered the B4. Passion Fruit Green Tea ($4.25). They use a syrup so you can't adjust the sweetness and it's blended in a blender so 1/3rd the cup was icy froth. My friend likes sweet so enjoyed the B4. Considering people are waiting in long lines, customer service needs to be improved. Little things like "Thanks for waiting, how can I help you?" goes a long way. I know, I know it's an Asian business but boba shops are a dime a dozen so good customer service is equally important. Finally got to try TP Tea after hearing about it for so long! My friend ordered and picked it up for us, and she said that the wait was not long at all and very efficient. She went around 1:45/2PM on a weekday, I've heard it can get long so try in the afternoon! I got the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea 25% sweet with Boba and QQ Noodle: 4/5 * The tea flavor is balanced and strong which I really liked! It was also the perfect sweetness. The boba texture is perfectly chewy and slightly sweet, and I REALLY like the QQ Noodle. It reminds me of the jellies found in Vietnamese desserts; it's also perfectly QQ too! The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it's made with powdered creamer (can't confirm since I wasn't there to see it being made but it has that coffee mate creamer taste). Totally fine if you like that taste but I personally don't like it. I love the passion fruit tea (it's a fruit tea so no milk)! It's perfectly tart while still lightly sweet. You can't adjust the sweetness on this one the way you can for their other drinks but honestly they optimize it so well I wouldn't change it. The strawberry milk tea is the other MUST. It's actually got bits of strawberry blended in and goes so well with their boba (which is the perfect chewiness)! I've visited TP Tea a couple of times and my top 2 choices for boba are Taiwan Classic Milk Tea and Tie Guan Yin Boba QQ Milk Tea because these 2 drinks were really good. I really like their QQ noodle topping because it was very chewy. As for the taste of the drink, I can still taste a very strong tea flavor. It's always busy during the weekend -- you'll have to wait for around 10+ minutes after you order to be able to pick up your drink. It's always easy to find parking as well. read more

Parking is available in the plaza and I think there's enough parking for when it gets busy. Inside is bright and modern. There are some tables and chairs for seating but there is this empty space in the middle with 3 chairs? Maybe put some more tables or something so it doesn't look so awkward. We got in line around 9:30 and the line was out the door. By the time we ordered our drinks, it was around 9:50. By 10, someone went to cut off the line. We probably got our drinks a little after 10 so I would definitely say it's a 30~ min wait overall. I tried C3, Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea with boba. I must say it was pretty good and the boba was just how I liked it. I also tried C2, Pearl Milk Tea and it was okay to me. Just tasted like a regular basic milk tea. Probably one of my favorite tea shops in the South Bay. Menu options aren't too extensive, but that makes me feel like the tea quality is all the better if they aren't catering to too many options! I personally come for the QQ noodles which are these long, squiggly, chewy boba-like toppings that resemble a noodle, hence the name "qq noodles"! You order on your own with a touchscreen at the front so there's minimal contact between workers and customers. Also waiting is outside to keep the building less crowded. Card only IIRC. Honestly the tea is good but nothing too memorable. Maybe it's because there are so many tea shops out here, it's hard to screw up a good cup. The tea tastes authentically brewed and has a balanced sweetness, but I truly think the unique toppings are the stars here. So far I've tried the classic milk tea, the jasmine milk tea, and the strawberry milk slush(I think that's what it's called?); ALL of which were delicious, not to sweet, and well balanced. Interestingly enough, there is only a single 22 oz size available and the shop recommends 100% sweetness... ...perhaps the shop is encouraging America's obesity epidemic as 22 oz is too big and even 30% sweet was on the sweet side.. The milk tea was flavorful but not super strong. The large pearls were chewy, although quite bland, surprisingly. They do take credit cards, including Android Pay, but do not have any rewards system. ...they also seem to be hiring...$14-15.5/hr part time or $3k - $4.5k/month for full time. Pricing seems to be on the low side, based upon the size of the drink... although I'm sure 22 oz should be more than enough for 2 people? ...it also appears that there are numerous "fake" reviews from users that have 0 friends and 1 review...good thing the Yelp filter caught them! read more

Finally got to try this place and now see what the hype is all about. The milk tea tastes of premium quality! And the milk teas uses powder, so it's creamier than the lattes. I got the Tie Guan Yin milk tea with 30% sugar. My hubby got the taro milk tea latte with Pearls. It had actual taro bits in it. Def different..not in a bad way. The pearls were the perfect consistency. Slightly sweet, perfect chewiness. And I do like that they were micro sized. I also LOVED there was a bit of slushie ice on top of regular ice. That def was the "icing on the cake". The cashier was super helpful in helping us pick out drinks. Surprised how busy it got even at 2pm on a Wednesday. read more

I tried the Taiwan classic milk tea -- it had three types of jelly! Boba, QQ jelly and grass jelly. I got light ice and 50% sweetness but I think if I got it again I would get more sweetness the tea definitely tasted more like real tea as opposed to the milk tea I'm used to. Overall a solid menu and classic choices. They have a really cool system where once you order you can go stand outside and they have a little light up screen with the number that they just served so you knew when to go back in to get your drink. The staff is friendly but a bit on the slow side which exaggerates the already long lines. You can have comparable milk tea without waiting 30+ minutes in South Bay. The vibe inside is upscale and their chairs have nice bolstering. However, when there is a line out the door, it just seems a bit crammed even though it's large. This place just made it to my top of the list. I'm a total fan girl over Tancha and Ume tea (when I'm in Cupertino) because of their innovative menus. I know it sounds super basic, but hear me out. The flavor of their tea mixed with microscopic strawberry bits (with what I believe is creamy foam) was soooo good. I also got half sweet which was PERFECT. I'm not a big fan of overpowering sweetness levels. Their boba was decent and could use a bit of TLC, but that strawberry milk tea though. FYI it's also made with dairy-free soy creamer for the "milk". Oooooffff! If you're a true boba fanatic, you can taste the difference between quality milk teas and generic ones. This time the line was inside, so I got in line. The interior is completely different compared to what it was like when it was Monster Boba. While in line I studied the menu. The staff were friendly and courteous as I ordered a Passion Fruit Green Tea with Aloe + Jelly. There was a wait as it was crowded, but not as crowded as it was over the weekend. Ugh I hate that I like this place since the line can get bonkers I hear. I got super lucky when I happened to not be working Thursday afternoon, came by at 2pm and there was no one in line. And literally after I ordered, 12 people (I counted) came from nowhere and formed a line out the door. So I think there's really no good time and you just have to be lucky. I personally don't think it's worth the 45 min wait people have described. Id probably only swing by if I were in the area and leave if there's a line. The Tie Guan Yin Latte is one of their signature drinks which I had. The person described it similar to Oolong I think it is smoother than than Oolong. 30% sweet wasn't too sweet which I appreciated. I like that you can either get milk tea which comes with that powdered milk stuff most places use, or as a "latte" where it comes with real milk instead (there's no espresso in it). This place is definitely one of the better ones, but I can't say there's anything that sets it aside from the rest. Drink: I got the D7 and I really liked it. I guess if there's one thing that sets this place from others is that they serve mini/small boba, which can be kind of hard to find. The tea itself was good but was not special in my opinion. But again, not bad. Service: I kept asking for things they couldn't do (no ice for the D7, pay with Discover), and I felt annoying but she was very nice nonetheless. Interior/Seating: Quite a few tables and there are some outlets which I think makes this place a good study spot. Only thing is that it can get really busy which makes it not so quiet. Also not complaining but I asked for the WiFi password and a worker told me it was tptea8888, but when I tried it, it did not work. One of the best boba places! I love that their drinks have such good depth of flavor, especially the Tie Guan Yin tea. I always get the Tie Guan Yin milk tea or Tie Guan Yin latte. The milk tea tastes more dessert like, as it is more creamy. The latte is made with fresh milk, so it isn't as creamy as the milk tea. I always get boba as well and the boba is not as big as other places, it's pretty small here but it goes well with the drink. I've also tried the 3Q drink, which is Tie Guan Yin milk tea that comes with boba, qq noodles, and coffee jelly. The coffee jelly is really good! The flavor of the coffee in the jelly really comes through, and it complements the milk tea very well. I would say that the 3Q drink is definitely heavier as it has all of these toppings. I like my drinks on the less sweet side, and I usually get 30% which is perfect for me. I honestly don't see why people rave about this place, it's not even that good. First time stopping by yesterday with my family and ordered their Premium Green Tea Latte (D4) with boba, which is basically just green milk tea.. I never had to pay close to $6 for watered down tea before so this is definitely a first. My photo looks like it would be super creamy and delish, but all I tasted was cool watered down tea you get for free at a Chinese restaurant. Not worth the hype and definitely NOT worth my money. The only pros about this place is that it's in a plaza so there is plenty of parking. Cons is that it's pricey and I wish this shop was another boba shop since its really close to my house. TP Tea usually ranks top of my list as far as boba spots are concerned and this location was no exception. Personally, I always make sure to get any of their flavors that let the tea shine as opposed to the fruit offerings as they do a great job brewing teas, but you really can't go wrong here. I also like how they always seem to give you a lot of boba and will actually do "light ice" when you request it. My only gripe is that there is always a line and the drinks do take a while to come out. Definitely order ahead if you can or expect a wait! read more
