    Can't beat the price!
    Sarah G.

I don't come here often but I do maybe once or twice a year for pine pellets. You can't beat their price: 40lbs for $6.99. Walmart sells a "feline pine cat litter" in a 20lbs bag for $11.18, which would equate to $22.36 for the same 40lb amount. Aside from using it in the cat boxes to help reduce odor, we use these pine pellets in our compost pile if it needs more "brown matter." The whole family loves taking a look at the baby chicks and ducklings while visiting Tractor Supply. I tried to convince my husband to let us have a few ducks and he said no. Haha. The cashier was friendly. We'll be back in another 6-12 months.

I go there to pick up chicken feed. They usually have most things in stock. Friendly service. I think it's a good place.

I debated writing this because I actually liked the groomer and my puppy's haircut came out nice…read more But the overall experience was extremely stressful and poorly handled. I brought my puppy in for a routine groom with JAZMIN and was told he had a mat on his arm. I completely understand that mats happen--that wasn't the issue. The issue was how it was communicated and handled. Before I left, she checked his entire body in front of me and confirmed that was the only mat. Despite that, she began telling me that his entire body might need to be shaved down and that he could possibly be showing skin. As a dog owner, that's very alarming--especially when it doesn't match what was actually found. When I tried to ask questions and figure out a reasonable solution, instead of guiding me, her response multiple times was: "Do you want to just take him?" She repeated this several times--even after I had scheduled my day around this appointment and was clearly trying to move forward. Even when I came back to adjust the plan (just bathe him, hygiene cut, etc.), I was met again with: "Do you want to take him?" There was no reassurance, no clear plan, and no offer to simply proceed and call me if anything else was found--which would have resolved everything. Instead, I spent hours going back and forth, stressed and unsure if I was going to pick my dog up shaved down to the skin over one small mat. The final result? Exactly what I initially expected--only that small area was trimmed and the rest of his coat was perfectly fine. That confirms this situation was unnecessarily escalated from the start. I don't have an issue with the grooming result. But the communication, tone, and overall handling of the situation were disappointing and avoidable. When I spoke with a manager, I was told the groomer may have been "having a bad day." Respectfully, that shouldn't affect how customers are treated--especially when it involves their pets. Because of this experience, I won't be returning. I just can't go through that level of stress again over something so minor.

At checkout, I was informed that purchases of this size do not qualify for a veteran discount, which was unexpected and not clearly communicated beforehand. The store environment is clean, organized, and very nice visually, making it a pleasant place to browse. However, the pricing on many essential items--particularly beginner supplies and fish--seems noticeably higher compared to other local options. For someone just starting out, the cost can add up quickly without clear value advantages. It would be helpful if the store provided more transparency around discount policies and offered better pricing or starter bundles for beginners. While the shopping experience itself is positive, the overall value for the price paid may not meet expectations for budget-conscious customers.

Yorkies of Houston offset all of my fears. Their animals live with them inside their home, and they partner with other in-home breeders who permit them to visit their houses to ensure proper care. Eirika answered any and all of my questions about her business and animal care promptly, and we discovered 3 healthy male puppies in her home who were happy and playful. I fell in love with one of the puppies who was most eager to play with us. She provided vet records, food, a care guide, a play pen, a carrier, a pet bed, a brush, wipes, and a two-way camera to us with our little boy. It was clear from all the information she shared and carefully repeated for us that she is invested in the health and well being of these puppies - even wiping off their little paws and faces with suitable wipes whenever they get dirty. She provided us with the weight of the parents but explained our puppy could grow up bigger or smaller. She described some of the health risks of overfeeding, explained some common Yorkie health problems (although our boy is 100% healthy, per my vet) and also sent us home with a special sugary gel in case he got too nervous to eat at first. Really, it did my heart good to see these animals so loved by their breeder. She takes great pride in her business, and I left so informed about our puppy and his needs! He's now registered under our names and settled nicely into our home. He's a delightful addition, and if we adopt again Yorkies of Houston will be at the top of our list.

When I finally decided on a Pomeranian fur baby I scoured the Internet and I found Shannon from Tinypawsandclaws.com. She had an adorable collection of fur babies specializing in Pomeranians, chihuahuas, and yorkies. After looking over her website I got in touch with her via text. She responded promptly, informed me of her available pom pups, sent pics and little character descriptions all doing so in a friendly and open manner. She also inquired as to the kind of home setting her babies might be going into, which lets me know she truly cares for her puppies. Throughout the purchasing process she was professional and friendly, open to any questions, and educated me on the care of my new pom baby. I was also able to meet each puppy I was interested in in person so I could get a feel for them. When I finally picked my puppy up she gave me a goody bag with some of Miyu's, my pom, food, a supplement to prevent/treat hypoglycemia, 2 free ribbons, her shot papers, parents AKC/CKC papers, blanket, a toy, and told me when to expect the my registration papers. I still stay in touch with her for any care questions and to keep her updated on little Miyu's progress. I know have Miyu settled at home and we both could not be any happier! Thank you Tiny Paws and Claws!!!
