I got a sweet deal on a used that I couldn't ignore. The Ugly: Dealing with Mans dualism. A Salesman in this case. The Synopsis: Needing a new ride. Something a bit more reliable than my 97 Accord with 200K. I ened up back here at Ken Harvey's for the solution to my problem. After spending a few hours looking over pricing, financing, different vehicle options, etc. I ended up making a deal on my first certified used car. Due to the now late hour, the banks and their finance centers had closed so, I was offered a handshake and a telephone call the next day when the deal was sealed. After four days of not hearing back from my new trusted friend, I telephone one of the sales mangers whom I've had a relationship with for several years. After cluing him in on the haps. The very next day, I was invited down to Honda to purchase and pickup my new (used) car. In the past i have always owned Honda's and never had issues. The last two cars i bought were from Nissan (traumatic experience with this car dont buy Nissan Mureno) and then a Buick which i am now having a lot of issue. Keep in mind I had already visited them two weeks prior to test drive a Honda CRV. When I returned this second time, I test drove a Honda Accord and Honda Insight. Dominic did an excellent job explaining the differences between the models I was driving, the various features, and provided more information that I would not have thought to ask. He turned the whole process into a great experience - ensuring that I was making the right decision, that I was more than happy with what I might end up purchasing, and that I would not have buyers remorse. A bit late on this post... I made my first big purchase at this location pulling the trigger on a Honda civic coupe in May of this last year. As stated above this was my very first big purchase so prior to coming to this location I was shopping around quite a bit trying to weigh out my options on what car to purchased. It was a big debate on purchasing a Honda or a Scion TC. I ended up leaning towards a Honda due to its promotional offers as well as it being known as a gas saver, something I would surely be needing for commuting to and from school as a college student. My boyfriend and I were greeted in the typical car salesman manner when arriving to this location. The whole interaction went downhill with the salesman who greeted us from that point on. It may be because my boyfriend and I are in our 20s that we were treated rudely, but we came into that dealership with the mindset that I was going to walk out with a car. Salesman kept insisting on running our credit and threw papers in front of us, among other stuff. Just rude. Plain rude. The only reason why I am giving this business 5 stars is due to their manager Frank who ended up taking over the interaction and preventing us from taking our business elsewhere. So I bought my car from here in 2013, so naturally I get it serviced here. It wasn't until recently I've noticed that they have been trying to falsify info on things I need done on my car to get more money. This past time I went to get my oil change and minder services, they told me I needed front and rear brakes (both at 4mm) and that my rotors were excessively warped. Now I know that didn't sound right because I just got rotors earlier this year. So I took my car to the place I get my brakes done at and they told me my rear brakes were at 8mm (pretty much new) and my front were 6mm (about half life). I do know that I will no longer be returning to Tracy Honda for any services for my car because I feel as a female I was being taken advantage of. Details: Contacted the dealer about purchase of a new CRV which resulted in a text conversation with a competitive quote from James Herren. We asked what accessories were included and James responded that wheel locks and CRV badging are the accessories. We asked for the quote to be emailed but no response, so then we decided to call and because James was not available we spoke with Kristie who said she was able to look up the text conversation and would honor what James quoted. We again confirmed what accessories were included and she confirmed the same wheel locks and badging for $400 total and there was NO mention of EXPRESS CODE for $499. We made an appointment for 10am the next morning and when Kristie was busy we met with Ola who claimed to be the floor manager and who showed us the car so we can look it over. We decided we wanted to move forward and this is when things went down hill. Ola took 45 minutes to get us the total price and came back with info on what is mentioned in the summary above. When I pushed back on why they were not honoring the quote he left again for another 30 minutes and upon returning his first words were "I am only the messenger here.." which we knew was not going to be a good sign. When I started to ask Ola some questions, he became agitated and rude toward us stating we would need to wait for the manager to come out. We sat there another 15 minutes before walking out at which point Ola came from across the lot and stated we left just as the manager was coming out. There is no way for him to see this inside the building from across the outside lot. Additional note when looking at Tracy Honda on Yelp. I came in with a guy who worked for Tracy Mazda. We went to a gentlemen with a quote from Stockton Honda on a new Civic 2012. It was his honesty stating they couldn't get me a better deal than what was on the table that made me realize they're straight to the point when it comes to sales. Long story short, I skipped the offer from both Tracy and Stockton Honda and decided to get a used one from another dealer. This shouldn't be seen as a loss in their eyes, this place has my vote on customer service and the good work they do. Had my car serviced here a couple weeks ago. Oscar Haro helped us out. Sincere guy, very respectful, polite, he offered us a waiting area or a shuttle. We took their shuttle service to the mall and killed a couple hours while the car was being serviced. It wasn't an issue getting a ride back from the mall. They pretty much finished on time, even though it was their busiest day of the week (Saturday). Staff was friendly and getting along with each other. I don't get any vibe that the people working here weren't friends outside of the workplace. Keep up the great work. I immediately placed it on hold and called the service manager to inform him that I would be picking up the part and paying for it out of pocket. I drove from Oakland after being told by James Herren, their internet/fleet director, there was no mark-up on the CR-V Hybrid only to discover a $10k+ mark-up, including $999 for paint! That paint mark-up was on top of the $395 for the premium paint color that was already factored into the MSRP price. Conveniently, James had left for the day and the other staff claimed I had misunderstood his meaning. Considering I have the whole conversation in text with James clearly stating there is no mark-up, as can be seen in the screenshot, I think its pretty obvious who is lying and being evasive in this situation. I got a quote online from James who said he could meet my loan price. Within the next week, I went in to look at the car. AJ met me outside as soon as I arrived and helped me through the whole process. After the test drive, I explained to AJ what James had quoted me at, and immediately there were issues with that price. It was hours of going back and fourth, back and fourth. I think management thought I was young and inexperienced (which I am) and they would be able to sell me the car for way more than what I was initially quoted for online. After the third hour, we couldn't settle on a price and I ended up walking out. Within 10 minutes of me leaving, AJ had called me and told me they could give me the car for a price that was almost exactly like my online quote. I immediately went back to sign the papers. AJ was super helpful and had the BEST customer service! He took his time to explain what the car had and went into depth about all of the features.
