Stopping by today for quick grocery run. This store is located in a small and quiet area. It is tucked in an old building with pretty big parking lot and can get busy. Just like any other trader joe, I find this store also clean and well organized. Beside the fact that you might find some popular items that tend to be sold out. Staff are friendly and chatty. Out of all the things I bought from trader joe, my favorite was the fresh wild cod. My least favorite was precut pineapple, but i had no options since fresh whole pineapple are small and not ripe. This is the closest location to me so I come here pretty often. I honestly have such a fun time shopping for groceries here because of all the good finds I often come across. I've never had a bad experience at this location and the staff are always super friendly and helpful. I've also appreciated how this store has followed COVID safety and cleaning protocols so well. Sure, they had really long lines out the door for a while...but in my opinion it was worth the peace and feeling you got once inside as you shopped for your items. I just want to give a huge shout out to this local Trader Joe's! I was holding back from going to TJs since the quarantine started and suffice to say I was dreaming of coming back ASAP. Yesterday, I braved the social scene and headed out of my house. THERE WAS NO LINE/WAIT. The store WAS NOT overly crowded and there was still a friendly face greeting you at the door with a sanitized cart. I have nothing but appreciation and respect for these crew members. I am not ashamed to share that I am not a frequent Trader Joes' customer (I have my reasons) but I know so many people who are that I feel at odds when I have to run into one. My best friend asked me to pick up some Prosecco here for her birthday party this past Saturday and I never felt more lost in my life. This location (similar to most others) is fairly small and was extremely busy for a Saturday morning. Don't you people sleep in on the weekends? I was on a mission at the time of my visit and jammed right over to the beer and wine section. I immediately felt a pain of anxiety over the amount of choices and selection (no complaints here) and eventually found what I was looking for. So why leave a review and deduct two stars? Here's my beef (and I'll make it organic, locally-grown, gluten-free for all you Trader Joeans): Out of all of the possible locations in Claremont for a Trader Joes, why did they pick this one? This location is cramped into a center filled with heavy traffic restaurants, stores, entertainment (e.g. Piano Piano, Candelight Pavilion, etc.). Parking is a nightmare and I wouldn't be surprised how many fender-bender incidents occur in these tight spaces. My opinion is that Trader Joes hits the target market demographics of Claremont, California which is why I'm surprised they don't move this location to a bigger lot with more parking and store space. I love this Trader Joe's! Today reinforced my thoughts about it. I've been really sick. Unable to leave the house at times. Today I decided to go out and grab some of my favs at TJs. They didn't disappoint. I even found some new stuff. I got in-line and saw this beautiful young lady ready to ring up my groceries. We started out chatting about this and that...I told her how excited I was just to be at Trader Joe's because of my illnesses. Laura showed genuine care and concern. It felt good but strange. Usually people ask "how are you?" But don't really mean it..... Laura did! She listened to me. It made me feel alive, seen, heard! I almost can't explain it.. this stranger showed me more time and attention than some of my family members. Then Laura came out of the store with the prettiest boutique of flowers I've ever seen! Sadly, I never thought I would be writing a bad review of Trader Joe's because of how much I love shopping here but the customer service I experienced from a specific cashier was awful. I didn't get the name but she was an Asian American female who looked like in her early 40s and she was wearing glasses. She just said hi but seemed like she hated her job. This place is far from offering good customer service. Most people here are rude, or simply they lack of customer service skills. We live 2 miles far from them but we prefer 100 times going to shop at the San Dimas store (6 miles from us) because is really worthy. My LAST experience shopping here was on 6/16/21and my daughter and I were terribly treated by the cashier number 8, P Laura. Our transaction number is 141805, and as I said before, WE ARE DONE shopping at this TJ. Inaceptable way to treat people. Bought whole grain bread and yellow corn tortillas From here and I didn't bother to look at the expiration date because I just figured it would be fresh but come to find out it expired 2 days after my purchase and had to throw it out because it was getting mold. This is a smaller location, even by Trader Joe's standards, with a very busy parking lot. Good place for locals that need their Trader Joe's fix, but wouldn't recommend for weekly trips unless you're just a masochist. Some of my favorite TJ's products are their tea tree oil face wash, their whole wheat sour dough bread, and the garlic nan in the frozen section. They also have a good variety of fish and vegetarian foods. read more

During the middle of the pandemic, when everyone was looking ragged, she mistook me for a homeless person and treated me like scum. So here I am at Trader Joe's in California where It began though I do like Lincoln Heights Trader Joe's in San Antonio, TX set up and ease of finding their products..., staff is much more friendly then here in California too. Same products except for the Liquor area which can be a plus for folks who find good reasonably priced spirits. Store is clean . Those fresh flowers for purchase. I so enjoy Trader Joe's and grateful they expanded to other states to enjoy their yummy good products. They didn't even have 10 items or less line which made it longer for customers that just want to get in and out as quickly. I mean it's Covid. It's actually work against the rule. It is with deep disappointment that I rank our local TJ's here in Claremont with only 1 star. Prior to yesterday's incident, they were my go-to grocery store. They seemed to have their shit together in dealing with the current COVID-19 crisis. They made us wait in line, respect social distancing rules, and to protect their cashiers, we had to wait by a red line to make sure we're not standing too close to them. Yesterday evening my husband and I saw a couple (youngish, in their 20s) who DID NOT wear masks. When my husband confronted them, they said they "weren't able to get masks" (really? Not even an old T-shirt to cover your entitled little mouths and nose?). I blame this whole unpleasant encounter on the TJ Claremont management. Apparently, according to the crew members who were working there yesterday, they haven't received a "directive" from their higher-uppers requiring customers to wear a mask when shopping on their premises. It's been a week since LA county issued this regulation. How is it they're still not on board? Therefore endangering not only us, their loyal customers, but also, their precious crew members? Get with the program TJ's Claremont! Refuse service to anyone trying to enter your store without wearing a mask. We're in this together. read more

Who doesn't love shopping at Trader Joe's? Well actually I am sure plenty do not, but I certainly do. I love all of the snacks and sweet desserts that I find at Trader Joe's whenever I walk down all of the aisles (don't be fooled though if you think Trader Joe's is healthy and that everything they sell here must be healthy because it isn't). Anyways, this Trader Joe's is located in the Old School House Center (specifically next to Boca Burger and The Spot). The parking lot is definitely a major disappointment because they are only 45 minute parking spots and rather a small parking lot. But you can always park at the lot in front of Citibank (no parking time limit) and walk across without any problem. For the most part, this store's layout is pretty similar to the other Trader Joe's stores that I shop at. Products are organized and adequately stocked. Love the cooking demo area for my free samples as well. Definitely will come back here again if I am in the area and need to stock up in my house. read more

Off to my Sunday stop at Trader Joe's I go and this place just always makes me smile. Nothing like the welcoming decor of pumpkins to remind you of the season. I like Trader Joe's but am very disappointed in their white rice bread and rice bagels. I purchase these regularly because I am allergic to several grains including wheat, quinoa, barley and the only bread I can eat are the ones made with rice flour. I'm tired of Trader Joe's rice bread and bagels that are filled with holes. The white bread slices are smaller than the slices in other breads and the loaf is small too but it costs almost $5 a loaf. The bagels costs the same for four bagels. I stopped buying the bagels because of each one having so many holes you're basically eating two complete bagels! This store became my home store once the Upland location closed...super inconvenient considering I reside in Ontario, but what can I do? Trader Joe's provides tons of year-round and seasonal options that I can not find elsewhere. On this trip, my little decided to fall asleep which warranted the use of the stroller. The problem with that, is that I have to carry a basket instead of pushing a cart. One of the employees noticed my dilemma and offered to watch the baby while I shopped. HUH?! Their customer service is ALWAYS beyond stellar. Today I was appreciative that there are neighborhood stores with employees that care to acknowledge a flustered mama's daily dramas! Everyone's helpful here. They'll stop to help you find something. Decent amount of parking especially considering all the restaurants in the area (Spot Cafe, Boca Burger, Oke Poke). As most folks know, TJ's is 2/3rds health food / useful products and 1/3rd junk food masquerading as health food. TJ store-branded products in either category have a uniformly high quality. Produce, particularly fruit, isn't generally up to their dry goods standards. BTW, TJ's seems to pick its workers out of a fashion model catalog... They're either pretty or hunky so maybe that's why this store is the #1 shop'n'date site around. read more

Usually I find Trader Joe's staff above-average in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. Today, however, I bought a salad at this location for lunch and wanted to eat it with not my hands. The Utensils shelf on the way out was empty, so I turned to ask a cashier, then noticed right beside the shelf an open box of plastic forks. Thinking this would save the busy cashiers and my busy self a scrap of time, I bent down to grab one. On the way up (was she watching me?), a staff member shouted at me "What are you doing?!" I explained. "You're supposed to ask a cashier," she admonished me, "but you can keep that one." Oh, how generous. I understand if I broke a Trader Joe's policy by grabbing a plastic fork from a box, and I won't do it again. However, maybe it's better not to jump straight to berating a customer and treating them like a shoplifter when you don't know that they're not just in a hurry on a lunch break or one of countless other equally plausible and innocuous scenarios. I don't go to Trader Joe's so a jobsworth can lord their authority over me. If I want that, I'll go to prison, where my utensil habits and everything else about me will be equally scrutinized. This is a great Trader Joe's store. However, my only complaint is with the rich entitled customers that shop there. Especially the older folks that look at you as if you don't belong there. I felt as if everything I did was wrong. This attitude was even prevalent in the parking lot. I went to my car and there was an older rich lady giving me an eerie dirty look as I opened my car door. The scowl on her face was that of disgust and hate as if I had already dinged her expensive car that was parked next to mine. These people remind me of Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants. I've been a loyal TJs customer for years, and love their unique offerings, even if the produce is mediocre. But their Covid safety practices have been lacking, and if you ever go up to the manager or staff to ask them to enforce masking mandates, they basically smile and ignore you. This has happened all year. A completely unmasked man kept coming up near me today and when I finally asked him to step back, he laughed and yelled that masking was a "choice and not the law." Absolutely every TJs employee ignored the issue, and kept on with their work, and when I asked the cashier for help, there was complete silence. They are union-busters (during the pandemic, even), and don't appear to give a damn about public health - cases are higher now than they were a year ago, but they absolutely refuse to enforce masking?
