HUMONGOUS Trader Joe's. the aisles could fit like 3 carts at a time. Coming from Irvine, I've never seen such a big TJ before. The layout is so spacious and it almost doesn't feel like a TJ. I happy that TJ is open for seniors from 8-9 every morning But the TJ store at 17st in Costa Mesa is not interested in enforcing the rule Today at 830 am I was in the store and I observed a 30 something women without a mask shopping I went to the front desk and had the following conversation Are you ok with the 30 something woman shopping without a mask? Reply: no I asked: are you going to ask her to leave? Reply: no I asked : are you ok with the fact that she is endangering myself and your customers? Trader Joe's is the only pleasant grocery shopping experience that I've consistently had. The staff is friendly and their checkout lines are always staffed so even during the busy times, you can get in and out fairly quickly. This particular Trader Joe's is nice because of its larger size and the wine tasting area, which is open every day from 1 PM until closing. I only write reviews if someone/ someplace is so above and beyond... this store (maybe all of their stores ?) is staffed with employees who will go out of their way every time to be helpful. I just ran in at 9:00. They close at 9:00 but they let me in, and in my rush to check out I dropped a red pepper- my bad- the bald man working at the door (only waiting for me so they could lock up) insisted someone get me a replacement for the broken red pepper- broken bc I dropped it. I said no need- he said "you can't have a broken pepper". How considerate and sweet considering I was last customer out. Just one example. Love this place. read more

Trader Joe's in Huntington Beach is a great place to go. They have items from all over the world how long with their produce and meats and cheeses. I just discovered they are graham crackers. OMG they are so good super crispy and a lot of flavor better than Nabisco was by far. Everyone in that store is so nice it's a great place to go into at five points. read more

I love my local Trader Joes for several reasons. One - super friendly customer service. I've been to several locations (Orange and two locations in Irvine) and nothing can compare to the amazing service you get here. It feels like everyone wants to know what's going on with your day and maybe they don't, but who cares? At least it feels like they do haha. It may also be the fact that we're not too far from the beach... Maybe all the positive vibes permeate through to Trader Joe's and all its employees. Two - always organized (like any other TJ) and I greatly appreciate it. Nothing is too hectic, everything is in order and easy to find. Three - I'm currently a graduate student and sometimes I don't have time to cook a decent meal since I'm busy with school work or extracurricular activities. TJ solves this by having the most amazing insta-food ever created. I've had their burritos, their taquitos, their pork rib bites, you name it. It's insta-fast, insta-good, insta-yum. It doesn't hurt that there's samples to try all the goodies too! Sometimes it can get kinda crazy when people are shopping after work or sometimes odd hours, but I really don't mind. It just means I can peruse through more aisle and diddly-daddle by looking at more goodies I don't need. Beware- sometimes people drive their nice cars all crazy up in the parking lot. Watch when you're crossing; even when I am walking across the parking lot people will try to zoom past you. read more

Went to this Trader Joe's to return some items. It was my first time ever returning anything from a grocery store and wasn't even sure if it was possible but before going in I searched up Trader Joe's return policy and it states the following "Simply bring back whatever you have left and you'll get a full refund, no questions asked. Trader Joe's wants you to buy stuff and try it completely risk-free. Half-eaten box of chips or a frozen entree, it doesn't matter, Trader Joe's will take it all back." I go in and let the associate know I want to make a return and he asked why then he rings a bell to call up a manager, the manager with attitude again asks me why I want to make a return and let's me know the items are going to go to waste now. I just let them know I didn't want the items instead of explaining my entire situation. I just moved to Costa Mesa and the refrigerator from my new apartment stopped working so instead of throwing out these 4 items (that including 2 non perishable items) I returned them. Never again shopping at this store, people at the grocery stores are usually very friendly but I just didn't get that vibe at all from the manager at this particular store. read more

Trader Joes is hands down my favorite store to shop with so many yummy and unique items only available at their store in addition to great prices on staples. Their flowers are gorgeous, very fresh and the best deal in town. I have shopped TJ's during the pandemic and must say they make a huge effort to keep both their employees(who rock!) and customers safe. Not only do they enforce masks, but they limit the number of people in the store at one time allowing for social distancing, Their effort to keep us all safe is priceless & will be remembered long after the pandemic is over. While I don't shop at Trader Joe's too often it is a nice changeup every now and then. This location is located near Newport Blvd. on the quieter side of 17th Street. I can always find parking but be forewarned the lot can be hectic and the spots are narrow. They have a great selection of cheese, veggies and affordable wine/alcohol. Desserts-wise the Cheesecake, Cookie Butter and Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas get my seal of approval. Also, their Vegetable Pad Thai is sooo good, one of my favorite frozen foods around! I'm not the biggest fan of the layout of this store though, even though I know where everything is I still do laps around the place. As for price, I think Trader Joe's is on par with the larger supermarkets. Also, everyone who works there is friendly and happy-go-lucky, but honestly some are almost too happy lol. I've gone to this store for years, and, even, one of my kids worked here. I was in a STATE OF SHOCK, at seeing the slovenly appearance of this store's employees. Most looked unwashed and really UNSHAMPOOED. May I repeat, unwashed,, unshampooed, Greasy gross. Except for name tags, I couldn't determine who actually worked there, possibly because they'd chosen to wear grey grunge attire, tshirts with proud Trader Joe's ikon barely visible. When I was checking out,, the 2 goth looking employees barely paid attention to me as they were talking about their favorite "slasher" film (Freddy vs whatever). Only redeeming factor was the gentleman greeting in front, wholesome athletic dude, with the iconic Trader Joe hawaiin print shirt. Bizarre experience. read more

Seconds later, you were at the front door --- that worked out perfectly. Thanks again for approving the return especially when we strolled in just at closing time. OK, let's get to the point here. We have ALWAYS felt very positively about this store and the wonderful team. They are good, hard working, sincere, and helpful folks. Sometimes the store is super busy and the employees scramble to help everyone as much as possible. You just can't find this type of work ethic at other stores. The return --- we had purchased the items some time ago. We called and spoke with Ms. Katie. She listened to our logic and why the items should be exchanged. She quickly spoke with the manger and very nicely approved the return earlier in the day. I wonder if she spoke with Bryan? Hmmm, maybe that is why he had that smile on his face and was expecting us to come in much earlier in the day??? What else can we say about this place? It's Trader Joe's! This place is just like all of the others in many ways. Here's where they separate themselves in my eyes: 1. Donnie: the manager is AWESOME. He is hands down the most helpful employee and has been successful in spreading this same mentality to the other employees. I go here just because I know he's managing the facility. 2. It took me a while to find this TJ's, tucked away inconspicuously on one of the emptier stretches of 17th street. But when I finally found it, I was impressed. I love trader joe's for their ability to walk the fine line between healthy and inexpensive, but this one has a few distinct advantages over others that I've been to. * For one thing, it just seems to be better organized with wider and longer aisles. It's a breeze to get from one side to the other and find things. * The employees are very helpful and friendly. Again, I expect good service from Trader Joe's, but not this good. * It seems that they stock this one better than others. I've had spotty availability at a lot of them, but never at this one. * No parking problems here. About half the TJ's I've frequented have small lots that fill up during all times of the day. Everyone has their Trader Joe's food fixations. Not everything in the store passes muster, but a lot of it is fresh, healthy authentic Whole-Foods-style food at half or less than half the price. For me, it's their fruit juices, dried fruits, pasta, grated skim cheeses, mozzarella, mineral water, salt/spices, and fruits/vegetables. There are a lot of things I wish I could find here, but when I'm saving this kind of money, it's worth hitting this place up on the way home from WF. Your typical Trader Joe's but with a distinctly upscale feel and none of the typical shortcomings. read more

I love Trader Joe's!! It is clean and the food is delicious. They have such a wide variety of such good stuff. And I personally don't think anything is too expensive. They have lots of healthy food options which are great. I love the wide selection of cereals. There is a wide varitey of gluten-free products for people that need that. The produce is always really good and while it may be slightly more expensive than other stores, I think that it is better quality. The dips and salsas and hummas and all that stuff is really great. And the soups! Okay I could go on and on because so much is good. OH THE trail mix/nuts/dried fruits are delicious too. My favorite. And the staff at this location was SO friendly and helpful. The cashier dropped my green pepper, and went and got me a new one... and then gave it to me for free! Just a small thing but sure was nice. Definitely will be back! I love Trader Joes read more

I wish I was a super hot chic so I could walk around trader joes in my lulu lemon yoga pants. Its ridiculous how many "pretty" people are in here. I think I underdressed to the grocery store. Its kind of like a quaint whole foods market or Henry's. Cheap milk, good juice section....and flowers, lots of flowers. The frozen section is however the goldmine here. There are soooo many little frozen treats tha t hail from the four corners of the globe! I got all kinds of thinks to surpress my irresistible cravings from the munchies! Cheese section is just okay, some interesting things but mostly run of the mill, cryovacted, pedestrian stuff. Nothing artisanal. Lots of meats are grass fed, free-range and all that shit. The produce section is okay, more bulk than specialty. Personally not a fan of their wine section. They strike me as the type that knows enough about wine to get themselves in trouble but cant really walk the walk, mostly cheap stuff. The funny thing about traders joes is thst I never know if its a good deal or not. I always spend 100+ dollars and feel like I came home with less than I would of at another market. I am rating it one star due to the fact that there are no video cameras in the store and a women got robbed inside the store per her next door post this morning. Seems there is a group bumping into you in grocery stores and stealing wallets. Other stores have the thieves on camera using her credit cards, but TJ's should have cameras so the can catch the thieves faster. There is no excuse to not help protect your loyal customers. My beloved TJs. It's amazing in so many ways. Organic food for reasonable prices, quality rather than quality in terms of the selection. Seriously, how did people eat before this grocery store existed? The CM TJs is even better than most. Parking lot is never too crowded, lines inside never too long. Nicest and most helpful staff EVER! I love the cheese and wine tastings.....sometimes they even have a cheese sample table right when you walk in. (If you read through any of my other reviews, half of them mention cheese in some way). And, in general, pretty much the best selection of cheese this side of Whole Foods (but for a WAY better price!) Moreover, TJs has all the best fixings for the rest of your cheese plate too (I like the mini wheat thins and the everything crackers). Right now I'm obsessed with the 1000 day aged Gouda and the mushroom brie. And the goats milk brie. And the toscana cheese with black pepper. Among others. Living in LA and coming back to my "old" Trader Joe's is a treat. This location has ample parking, even though every time I pull in it takes a little bit to weave through all the people walking through the lot. They recently (within the past year) rearranged a little bit, I think they straight up got rid of an aisle. The one with the chips on one side and the Luna/Clif/Powerbars on the other. So that makes even more room for all the people milling about. The cashier was nice, but I was a little hungover and avoiding human interaction so I kept my trap shut. On Saturday mornings, I hope you are lucky enough to get a sample of their fluffy pancakes and coffee in the back corner :-D I'm really comparing to LA's La Brea and 3rd St location, which I NEVER go to even though it's 7 minutes away because it's always packed and parking is always extremely difficult, but this location is a breeze, it's got all your favorite TJ products and lots of space to maneuver in. read more

How have I not reviewed my favorite grocery store? This is my home TJ's, so I kind of love it. I know where everything is, the employees are helpful and friendly, and pretty much everything inside the store is awesome. Need flowers? They have a great selection at affordable prices. Definitely some of the best orchids you'll find around town and the prices are really great. Some people think TJ's is expensive. Have they seen the prices on eggs and milk? Staple items far cheaper than a regular grocery store. They also have a great selection of pre-cooked or easy to make meals that don't break the bank. I love the sampling station. It's introduced me to many things I would have never thought about trying otherwise! Basically, TJ's is amazing. I feel bad for people who don't have them locally. read more

This is one of the few Trader Joe's that has complimentary wine tasting. It has a large wine section that is separate from the rest of the store which is really nice. Everything else is business as usual there. Also, parking is much less of a nightmare than many other TJ's I've been to and that makes me happy. read more

Hands down the best TJ's location. Seriously, the best. Have I died and gone to heaven, because this is probably what the inside would look like. There is a sectioned off area for free wine tasting (often paired with snacks), another station to nosh on some food pairings from within the store, and quite possibly the best looking women I have ever seen in a market. I feel like the people who come in here are either a) coming out of a yoga class, or b) heading out to LA for a fashion show. They all make me feel woefully inadequate, and I am ok with that. It is like shopping and a show. No crying babies or weirdos in here... I hear that TJ's has Face Control at the door similar to Vegas; if you aren't good looking enough, they politely remove you from the store. True story. I realize that writing a review for trader joe's is redundant. Seriously. Every store has nice employees and product. Yadda yadda yadda. However, today I write because Trader Joe's carries one of the best Chocolate Mint Ice Cream EVERS. Why, You ask? Well for one, it's not green. You know this shit is serious. 2 the chocolate is a chip and it's flaky good. The mint-ice cream is minty without having to be green. It's my favorite chocolate mint ice cream on the planet and it's not mint green. Next to Haagen Daas's Coffee Ice Cream this ice cream runs a so "fuckingclose-i-don't-know-what I love-more" second. I will not ask you to excuse my French because today I don't care. And you should just buy this ice cream anyways because it's simply the best and it's like seriously wierd it's not green. Green does not mean best. It means more chemicals to ingest. The End. read more
