This place is terriffic, great quality, and at the same if not better prices than the bigger grocery stores, things like milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, bagged salad, tea, dry pasta, olive oil, tomato sauce, normal stuff all cheaper and better. The wines are great and all resonably priced and they have some great beers their too that are also less than the big grocery store prices. The only drawback I've see is that their fresh herb selection usaully is not so fresh looking, but other than that great products at great prices in a pleasant shopping environment. read more

I think most of us who live in the Morgan Hill - Gilroy area are ecstatic about the fact that we finally have a Trader Joe's nearby. I used to have to drive into San Jose to be able to get my organic, colon-friendly groceries. My only qualm with Trader Joe's is the elevated cost of fruits and veggies, but I understand that they are grown differently, etc. That aside, the store is great, and seems to be as reliable as most of the other TJ's I've shopped at. read more

I am so glad that Trader Joe's has come to Morgan Hill. I love the fact that I can buy international food in this small town. The prices are great. They have GREEK YOGURT and a bunch of other great specialties. Last night our dinner consisted of Trader's Joe's pre-made/frozen chicken with Gorgonzola. It was so easy and so good. For a work mom...it was heaven! The service is always exceptional. They always give stickers to my little ones AND they even gave out free bouquets of flowers on the 4th of July. I love this supermarket. It's well-stocked, has friendly staff, and is kid-friendly. The meat and fish seem hit or miss but I usually just get produce, breads, dairy, and dry staples. I wish I could do all my shopping here but sometimes I still have to go to Safeway for serious detergents & cleaning supplies... and name brand cereals or canned foods that my family wants to eat. What a fantastic experience with Heather and another salesperson (sorry, I can't remember her name) at Trader Joe's in Morgan Hill. We were in Morgan Hill for our daughter's wedding and needed to have specific types of flowers for one of the pre-wedding events that weekend (rehearsal dinner). We're from New York State and needed to make long distance arrangements. Heather was so accommodating and helpful. Everything was ready for us to review and purchase. I really wanted to like this place. In fact as we drove over there I was determined to find any and every reason to like this place because I know that when we make our move from San Jose to Gilroy that Whole Foods is no longer going to be an option for us as it has always been in the past. The truth is that I honestly couldn't find a single reason to like it at all. The selection of the produce was not only slim and over-priced but not even of especially fabulous quality. I can understand the people in San Jose buying over-priced produce of this quality but I have to wonder why people who live in this area would since there are so many farms, farm stands, independent markets, etc,,, that are very inexpensive and usually great quality. There are also pick your own farms too! I guess it just seems strange to me to throw away money if you don't really need too regardless of whether you have the money to do so or not. We also found the store in general to be lacking in other products as well. There was an alarming number of processed heat and serve, pour and serve, take away foods. We really have no interest in these kinds of products for the most part. There are some processed items we do buy. For example we like the Ezekiel Cereal which is a minimally processed sprouted whole grain cereal. Trader Joes in Morgan Hill does not carry that. The canned beans (which we sometimes buy when I don't have time to make up a ton of beans in the crockpot and then freeze them in pint containers) were drastically over-priced. The Safeway across the road had them for about forty cents cheaper on the day we shopped there. In fact, the Whole Foods in San Jose not only has more selection and variety in the store but is actually cheaper which we found shocking because we already know Whole Foods rightly deserves it's moniker of "Whole Paycheck.". There were a lot of products we bought from Whole Foods in San Jose that Trader Joes does not carry. We did find a number of them at the Safeway across the road (yes, you can find healthy items in major supermarkets too if you know what to shop and look for) though and what we could not get there we have discovered we can buy in bulk from online much cheaper anyway (Azure Standard and Amazon for example). I also have five children with the sixth coming in the fall so I care a lot about how I spend our money and for us buying in bulk makes a lot more sense but I understand not everyone shares that need. Paying Trader Joe's prices would not be acceptable for our family size but even so I know that, for me, having less mouths to feed wouldn't stop me from being frugal minded either. As I said I think that it is wise not to waste if one doesn't have to and there are so many good alternatives for healthy foods in this area. We had no interactions with the employees because we never decided to buy anything. But we can certainly say the selection/variety is grossly lacking, the prices are more than I am willing to pay, and the type of other shoppers we encountered that day really made us feel uncomfortable ( we dress very religiously conservative as well as having a large family and some of the shoppers obviously seemed to dislike this in a strong way that made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome). We will never shop there again. read more

Some markets people go to religiously. I do not, but this is a great place for fresh and organic products, and with things like a flower stand and soda section for "loved" ones. Liquor selection is good here, too, as it is in many of the TJ's chain stores. read more

I love Trader Joe's for their cut flowers and plants. They have beautiful orchids for only $7.99! They have a good variety of pre-made lunch salads, the one with chicken and beets is my favorite. I also like their mini whole wheat bagels. Their customer service is excellent too. I usually go in at lunch time to pick up a salad and a few other items. It's never crowded and usually there is no wait at the register. read more

Awesome place! There's only one in all of Morgan Hill because it's such a small town, but this is the only one they need! I live in San Jose and the Trader Joe's there are nice as well, however the one here is the best! The staff is so approachable, friendly, and helpful. As you're strolling down the aisles they always give you a friendly "hello" or try to help you if you look lost. Great customer service. The store is very clean and neat so it's easy for me to navigate through the store and find what I'm looking for. Plus, there's always lots of free samples! They sell a variety of foods and I use to think it's overpriced, it's actually not that bad. You may have to pay a little more, but you're getting a higher quality product and it's much fresher. It's nice that what they make is distinct to their brand of stores only. I'm always there stocking up on goodies for my fridge at work! read more

This is a really nice store. It's clean and very organized. I visited this location for the first time recently and it has a more extensive selection of products and is larger and more spacious than the Fremont store. I'm usually more of a Trader Joe's browser rather than shopper, but I picked up a number of snacks and cooking sauces here for very reasonable prices. I wouldn't really go here for their produce, but it's a great store for all the miscellaneous food stuff. read more

Like the local trader joes which offers samples and a well organized store with friendly cashiers. Has all the basic essentials with a semi-healthy twist on it. Has pre-packaged seafood, meats, and veggies which aren't the greatest, but the processed stuff isn't bad. Check it out - you might enjoy the sample and end up buying a ton more! read more

Great choice of frozen food options, snacks and wines. Produce however, I find does not last more than 2 days before mold or slime starts to form (very unfortunate, especially since this is supposed to be a health food store; produce should be #1 in quality). I've had to throw away many $$'s worth of produce 2-3 days after purchasing due to the lack of freshness. Also, I really wish they would get rid of the kid carts! Not only do these create excess traffic and confusion in the store, it is also very dangerous to other shoppers. Some parents don't even supervise their children and these give a great excuse for them to occupy them while Mommy & Daddy shop. If parents can't be responsible enough to watch their kids (put them in their cart or have them walk by their side) while grocery shopping, don't bring them at all! Trader Joe's, if you are not testing the waters out to become the next Kiddy Fun Park, it would be nice to just be the Natural Food store that you initially intended to be! read more

I cannot express how excited I was when TJ's came to Morgan Hill. I love their unique grocery items at a great price :) First of all, the Olive Hummus, to die for, so good, and so cheap:) Next, pita pockets, you can get a package of 12 for 1.99, who can beat that, they are good for dipping in the hummus or using to stuff as sandwiches. They also sell MOCHI, which i cannot get enough of, the mango and green tea are my fav, I have yet to try the others yet, because I love the other flavors too much. They also have a great flavored beer, the raspberry is my favorite, made by Lindeman Framboise, and only about 8.99 for a bottle, it's been a fav among me and my friends. I also have to say that their gluten free rice pudding is so yummy and again inexpensive, along with all of their delicious pre-made salads, which make perfect lunches. Another great thing here is the customer service, everyone is so friendly, as the previous posters have stated , and there are rarely any lines, which is awesome if you are in a rush. All in all, this is a great TJ'S and I will continue to be a regular here, and there is a Starbucks nearly next door, go grocery shopping and pick up some coffee, can't beat that. read more

I love Trader Joe's and this is a good one. The staff is super helpful and friendly. I have to say though, that this is a somewhat smaller TJ's than at other locations. Also, in recent years it seems to me that some TJ's products have either gotten smaller or more expensive or both. This Trader Joes is the BEST TJ store I've ever been to. Not only do they always keep their shelves stocked but if they do happen to be out of what your looking for or don't carry it anymore they are always on it with letting you know. Incredible customer service as well. Simon and Lauren are always welcoming and so great with my 4 year old son. Always remember our names and are especially engaging. Can't say how much I love this store. Best wine suggestions from the staff and as always the best snacks and produce quality and prices. The variety of food is wonderful but the staff is even better. I came in the last 15 minutes to get some items for Thanksgiving. What makes me most thankful is getting help from Victoria! First she helped me locate specialty items my daughter asked me to buy, next she listened to my concerns about things I was upset about in my life and made me feel so much better, finally--because I was rushing and stressed and not paying attention and left my cell phone on a counter--she came to the check out with it and asked me if it were mine. She is even better than the yummy samples and coffee in the little cups that make my trip extra special or the beautiful flowers at highly affordable prices I buy there. read more

The prices aren't necessarily cheaper than standard stores (Safeway, Nob Hill) but they are pretty comparable. They have a pretty good wine and beer area as well. read more

Well the Morgan Hill Trader Joes just put a bad taste in my mouth... I'll have to think twice about doing grocery shopping here next time... Thank You to the front manager Brian who rang me up as I didn't realize I was in a 15 items or less line but rudely made me aware. As a customer Service manager myself here is some advice for you.... OPEN MORE REGISTERS and maybe I wouldn't have felt the need to go to your line for service because your other cashier was too busy talking to HELP me! But I will be more observant next time and make sure I never go through your line again! read more

Tips for going there, I like them they are not bad but I rather get my avocados organic as a last resort. Sadly they are not local foods though. If you REALLY want to go for an organic route my tip is weed it out. I cannot tell you anything else but WEED your ingredients out. NOT ALL of their Items are organic. If it says canola soy or sugar you have a higher chance that it is GMOs. read more

I love having Trader Joes in Morgan Hill. Staff are friendly, helpful and store is clean and orderly. The one time I had an issue with an item it was cheerfully returned - no guff or attitude. Love the cheese section, a sample cup of coffee and yummy fresh vegetables. Healthy eating is so much easier with a store like Trader Joes.
