What has happened to Trader Joe's? I know we are recovering from the Pandemic, but what ever the cause I have noticed a definite change at Trader Joe's stores in Ventura. The product line has grown stale, nothing knew or innovative. Trader used to be known for it great cheese selection, but you can get a better cheese choice at Ralph's. Have also been making more product returns due to spoilage or poor quality. Fun products seem to disappear from the shelves and are not replaced with anything as good or better. Just a basic old product line that has become boring. The wine selection has become boring too.....It's as if Trader's product buyers all quit....Simply put Trader has lost its zest and pizazz.....It's becoming just another old grocery store. read more

Trader Joe's rocks in so many ways already detailed in these reviews, and this location is no exception. My review is about how they really go the extra mile to take care of their customers. I shopped there and bought, among other things, a large bottle of special unfiltered olive oil for 14.99. I buy one bottle of olive oil at a time because it takes me a while to use it. A full 12 days later I noticed on the receipt I was charged for 2 bottles. My next trip there, I mention this to the cashier, fully expecting them to say that disputes regarding the accuracy of the charges need to be made at the time of the purchase (while you still have the groceries you were charged for). I mean, I didn't even have the receipt with me. Instead, the manager asked me the details, nodded, and took 14.99 off the groceries I was paying for. Just like that. Thank you, Trader Joe's. Knowing Trader Joe's years from Camarillo to Westlake Village. First item I bought was TJ's frozen shrimp fried rice when I was in college. You could find Asia or European style of frozen appetizers, Dim Sum, small bites,dressers, cakes... and nuts, snacks. Wines, beers, flowers, juice, and nice section of Salad. I bought Orchid. I bought Dried Wild Blueberry, Roasted Unsalted Almond, 2 Fu Yu persimmons and few Mango today. I also selected raw chicken wings, Rib Bye to go with wine after work tonight. Great Trader Joe's location. This spot has all the typical stuff you'd expect to find in a TJ's including organic foods, healthy options, gluten free stuff and tasty samples at the back. Staff are polite and friendly and the store is clean and organized. Parking is a little bit bad because everyone wants to park up close and people are in and out quick so there are always cars trying to back up into you, but other than that (park at the back), it's a great location. read more

I am a big fan of Trader Joe's and this location makes a nice trifecta with Bevmo and Target. I like their wine selections, salads and olive oils, plus their frozen foods along with their good prices on their wide variety of cheeses. I do like the layout of the larger TJ store on Victoria in east Ventura which also has more selections, but this store by the Pacific View Mall is a real plus for Ventura. The brand spanking new Trader Joe's is a joy to shop in. The store is bright, spacious, well stocked and staffed, and parking is plentiful. The aisles are extra wide, so you can navigate the store even when folks are having gab sessions with their carts askew diagonally. They seem to have taken advantage of the extra space by stocking items I haven't seen for a while at the other Ventucky store. We visited the Grand Opening on April Fool's day, and as expected, it was a madhouse. Fortunately there was plenty of staff on hand, and the lines moved quickly. On my second visit I was able to take more time and familiarize myself with the layout. I passed by the old (Victoria Ave.) store, and their parking lot was only about half full. It'll be interesting to see if TJ's keeps both stores open once the newness of this one fades. Many of us in Oxnard and Port Hueneme would love to see TJ's open a store here, but for now it's nice to have two Ventura stores to choose from. read more

Everyday awesome! I shop here several days a week and honestly, there's never been an off day here. The staff are terrific...always helpful and anyone can answer any question about any ingredient and tell you seven ways to use it! Love the energy. This review is soley aimed at their dairy products and produce: specifially milk and things like squash and cucumbers. Over and over and over again I keep trying their milk, goes bad in a few days. Like a swiss watch, same performance everytime. If I get milk from any other store in Ventura, I can expect a couple of weeks to still drink it without having to make a cake with what is left because its completely sour or nearly that. As for the cucumbers and things like squash, same, eat them fast or they begin to go bad fast. To be sure, when I have taken the time to reach out to Trader Joes Quality folks, they say, just tell them you want a replacement and they will. Well they do, but not always happily. I've been given the "oh one of those guys who makes trouble looks the last time I did ask for a replacement". So i've given up, I'll never buy those kinds of products again from them. Trader Joe's is my must have grocery store. Love some of their frozen foods; Mac and cheese, cheese enchiladas, pizza, and some of the desserts like the raspberry tart, frozen fruit floes and ice cream. Love the handmade tortillas, good bread selection including fresh baguettes, the best place to buy nuts or dried fruit. Best organic peanut butter! Organic bananas at .25 each, great apples and peach crates in season. The only bagged or pre made salads in my opinion. Nice cheese selection, awesome bacon and chicken sausages. All of the employees are above average. Parking is easy. read more

Essential business check! As a chef I can't always be reviewing restaurants, sometimes I have to prepare a home cooked meal for the fam. The lines are often long, but if you go early in the morning like yours truly you can beat the rush! TJs is my go-to for all the fixins for a grill day, & my kids love the seasonal snacks (try the stuffing chips around Thanksgiving--trust me). The staff is always so friendly & gives this place a sense of community during these trying times. I shop a lot at TJ's and this location is one of the better ones near mid-town. This location is always busy and it's pretty popular, as there's another TJs on Victoria down the street. However this one is located near the Pacific View Mall and other places just nearby so it's a convenient location to stop by after Target, Lowes, or the mall. They carry your typical TJ's affair, always a good place to shop. read more

Needed groceries and wasn't sure what my experience would be like knowing that, due to Covid 19, I would have to wait in line and wonder how my shopping experience would go once I entered the Trader Joe's store. Thanks to the staff's hard work, I found the store to be well stocked and the employees to be very welcoming and calm. There was a well organized and cooperative line formed to control the number of shoppers who entered at any given time. I recommend getting there earlier than later as the line grew long pretty quick once the store opened. This grocery store offers an amazing assortment of dinner fixins'. My interest of late has been making pizzas at home. I've bought freshly-made pizza dough, marinated artichoke hearts, bell peppers, red onions, pepperoni, sweet sausage, and much more, plus numerous bottles of wine. Nothing is fresh, all packaged. The probably pollute more than anyone else with their plastic packaging. They are not consistent. For two years they allowed me to have my dog with me and then all of sudden they won't.. their salads may taste good but the sauce is terrible for you, not fresh either read more

I love the variety of items you can find at Trader Joe's. My esthetician recently told me to start using Coconut oil to moisturize my skin after waxing and recommended the jar that Trader Joe's sells, said it would last me forever. I found it to be reasonably priced and just as she said a little goes along way. I also enjoy their organic and health food choices in food and beverages, such as the pressed juice, and quinoa oatmeal. They have a beautiful variety of flowers and plants that are reasonably priced as well. The only hiccup in this great store, is the chaos of shopping there, it just seems like you are always in someones way and that can be frustrating when you are checking new items. read more

I love shopping at Trader Joe's because I can find things that I cannot find in other large grocery store chains (Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons, etc). Trader Joe's is known for carrying foods that people who are health conscious demand. They have many non-GMO foods, organic foods, vegan foods, gluten-free foods, organic no-sugar chocolate bars, just to name a few of the things that make this store stand out from the norm. The large variety is nice, but the best part of this store are the employees. Customer service here is TOP priority. It's a very clean store. They have happy employees which make for happy customers. Another thing I love about this store is that there is always ample cashiers! You almost never have more than 1 person in front of you in line! Fantastic! Trader Joe's brands are really good brands too. They're not like other "generic" brands. Every time I buy a "Trader Joe's" Brand item, I am always blown away with amazement at the quality. They carry a spiced apple cider that you need to try during the holidays, and if you like Tofu, try their brand. It's really good. I love to come here for Edamame, they have the good stuff in their freezer section! I love the free samples, because you get to try foods you haven't tried before and they give you the recipes too! There's always samples, of foods and drinks. They have a fairly large wine selection too. I give them 5 stars because they have great employees, a very clean store, always pleasant to shop there, and a large variety of hard to find foods and other items. This is a great store! read more

As good as Trader Joe gets most definitely. Although the staff are still pretty new to the store, they were pretty knowledgeable on where everything was at. Like a few others said the isles are nice and wide, the parking lot is hella huge and the prices are pretty reasonable. "BANANA'S @ 19 CENTS EACH!" (cheaper then VONS, Super Target & other major local grocery stores). Great location, near BevMo!, great staff, great parking and reasonable prices. read more

This store is usually very helpful, clean and well stocked. Recently though, I've noticed that their employees park in the limited space of 24 Hour Gym. Not only that, they take their smoking breaks in the gym parking lot! It's awful to smell the dirty smoke as one is trying to be healthy! I called a manager so hopefully something is done about it. read more

One thing that is particularly nice about Trader Joe's is that it's a constant in pretty much every one you go into. You know what you're going to find here. The square footage might change from store to store. The layout might differ a little bit. And you may have to search around a little bit to find some things. But all in all, it's comforting to know that any time you walk into a trader joe's you'll be able to find your favorite things. (Mine currently is TJ's Kung Pao chicken. Wow! So good!) Anyway, I just wanted to write this review real quick to comment on the staff here. The folks who work here have to be some of the most positive, friendly and upbeat people that I have ever encountered. And it's genuine! Not that fake "hi how ya doing" stuff you get in most stores. Every employee that I have ever encountered here has been... well, I'm just gonna say it.... a wonderful human being. Haven't met a grumpy one yet. My hat's off to this Trader Joe's for making it a priority to hire nice friendly people to their staff. It makes it such a pleasure to shop here. This is my favorite trader joes location. The food selection is the same as every other trader joes, but it has the best parking by far with a big lot and normal sized parking spaces. They have a good selection of organic food, but I wish they had less organic produce from Mexico. The employees are always super helpful and friendly and are great with my daughter, who's now 3. Another plus for this location is that it's right next to target and the pacific view mall, so it's one stop shopping. read more

Much bigger than the one in Victoria and with an ample parking lot this location is sure to become a mainstay for tried and true Trader Joe's shoppers. However on opening weekend you notice that folks are still learning the flight patterns because the the fruits and vegetables are on the left rather than the right. It's a TJ's so that should be enough to state right there. The employees are friendly, helpful, informative. I have rarely waited more than 5 mins in a checkout line. They have never been out of my favorite items, a rather long list which includes: Classic Greek Salad, Gorgonzola and Walnut Salad, GT's Kombucha, Smokehouse Almonds, Unsweetened Vanilla Soy Milk, Gone Bananas, Baconesque (non-meat) Popcorn. My to go grocery store. The store is always clean, stocked and the best service ever. Theor produce is limited but it's always the freshest possible. The employees always have a smile on their face and are always willing to help. My favorite is of course the shot of coffee sample and the food sample. 75% of the time I walk out with the ingredients used to make the samples. Always new and yummy. The only down is that some items are seasonal or we never see again. But that's okay, it gets me to try new things. But overall a great store! read more
