Evidently this is the place to be on Sundays! Place was packed at 11:00 a.m. We were seated immediately. Not sure if we had just one server or if everyone worked together. Service was excellent. Menu options were plentiful. They actually have an Italian menu too-- we'll try that next time. Food was above average... nothing spectacular but really good. Stopped in on our trip to the Winstar. This place was awesome! If you're looking for some good down home cooking (or hangover food) this place is great for breakfast or lunch. This is a very relative 4 start review, since it's obviously not like a Michelin rated top chef restaurant. I wouldn't call it a relaxing experience because it's always very busy (like other reviewers have said, there's kind of nowhere else for breakfast in Gainesville!), but I love the divey country diner atmosphere, and all of the food is delicious and fresh tasting. I really wish the coffee was better but it has a local tap water taste to it. If you are in or near Gainesville stop at Trails Inn for some food. Hands down best food in the area. This is a family owned restaurant that more than delivers on taste and service. If your looking for high end food this is not the place, this ia home cooking done right! I had the tortellini with vodka sauce and it was so good i wanted to lick the plate. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak with biscuits and he said it was the best he has ever had. For him to say that is high praise, he never likes anyones chicken fried steak. Because we travel to Lake Murray in OK from Fort Worth fairly often I'm always on the lookout for good food along the way. Can't believe I haven't found this place sooner. I stopped for breakfast this morning and it was the perfect greasy spoon I was hoping for. I was greeted by a very friendly and energetic man (the owner possibly?) at the door and he told me I could sit wherever I wanted. I chose well because I ended up in Laura's section. She is the best waitress I have had in years! So sweet and friendly. I dropped my silverware on the floor and before I could blink she brought me a new set. She kept my coffee full and even offered me a cup to-go when I was leaving. I ordered a waffle, two eggs scrambled and bacon. The menu said 2 eggs but it looked like a lot more and unlike most places that give you two slices of bacon, here they gave me 3. The waffle was perfection. Crispy edges and pillowy in the middle with great flavor. I can't wait to bring my vacation crew here with me for lunch! read more

We had breakfast here on a Saturday morning and the place was very busy. The food took a very long time. The wait staff are pros and were hustling pretty fast, but the wait was a bit too long for me. Trails Inn is an old motel restaurant and is every bit a Texas greasy spoon. This is where the locals eat and it is an experience. The breakfast is pretty good and typical for a place like this. We stopped in here for breakfast as we were passing through Gainesville. We were immediately treated at the door by the owner. He was super nice and invited us to sit. I get something different every time I have been and every thing has been delicious.
