It has Phin-filtered coffee, Milk, Condensed Milk, Coffee Jelly, Egg Cream + Coffee Cream. I figured that the first drink I had to try had to be the one with damn-near everything in it. One of my favorite places to come to for Vietnamese coffee. My usual go to is the egg coffee and has just the perfect amount of coffee to sweetness. Parking in this shopping center can be a little hectic since it's always packed, but there's also street parking if you want to avoid the hassle of it being so congested there. Tram Cream Coffee 1 is located in the every popular Paloma Plaza where you will find plenty of boba milk tea, coffee, restaurants, and shops. Parking is hectic during peak hours. Modern and simple decor with inside seating. Unique coffee drinks and they do offer banh mi sandwiches and other snacks like popcorn chicken, fried calamari heads, and other Vietnamese snacks. I got their Saigon Coffee, which is phin coffee with condensed milk. A bit pricey for the size but it was pretty good and strong. After trying Tram in Hayward for the first time last month, I was so excited to see another one in San Jose after getting lunch at Hue Restaurant in the same plaza. I got the same drink as I did at the other location - the VIP, which comes with viet coffee, coffee jelly, egg and coffee cream. However, the experience here just was not the same! When I got my drink, literally the entire cup was filled in middle with one huge cup size block of ice. There was barely any coffee. I get that viet coffee is usually more of a sipping type of drink, to be enjoyed over time as the ice melts, but the huge block of ice made it hard to even stick a straw in and mix the drink! We ordered the Egg Coffee With Grass Jelly and the Green Gems With Oat Milk & Grass Jelly. While we were waiting for our beverages, the female employee told me that the Green Gems is milk based and couldn't be made with oat milk, which I paid extra for. I told her just to add coffee Jelly instead of oat milk and the female employee told me that there was a price difference of a quarter. Seriously, over a lousy quarter when it's their order system asked me if I wanted oatmilk and paid extra for it. The male employee told me that don't worry about it knowing that it's their fault. My go-to Viet coffee place! I've been here on multiple occasions and am always satisfied. I first tried the egg coffee back in March and was curious as I've never had egg cream before. Tram's egg cream has a very thick consistency with a subtle egg flavor that was not overwhelming and the flavor could be comparable to creme brûlée. For days where I want a sweet treat that isn't too sweet, I like getting their salted iced coffee! The coffee is a bit stronger and dilutes well with the salt foam. I do wish the foam was a bit thicker though as it melts quick. Their coffee is on the milder side and can be a hit or miss in terms of caffeine strength but I don't always get coffee in the morning to begin with so that works out for me. I like how their drink comes with coffee jelly so it's a fun way to treat yourself to coffee on a work day. They have other non-coffee drinks including milk tea and fruit tea which were all pretty good as well. I like their peach orange tea, which doesn't skimp on fruits! read more

I've always liked Tram Coffee and enjoy coming here. I've never had a bad experience and my visits are always good but unfortunately, today's visit was overwhelming and disappointing due to the way the staffs handled a situation. I placed an order at their kiosk in the store so and selected "no receipt", which is something I've done before without issue -- but this time, I forgot my order number. I informed the staff that I ordered a "VIP" and tried to confirm my purchase by showing my Apple Pay transaction. For some reason, the transaction said "Tram 3," which I later learned refers to their LA location (odd, considering I made the purchase in-store at their Capitol location). Instead of helping me efficiently, the male staff member seemed unsure of what to do and passed me off to another female staff member. While I appreciated that she stepped in, her communication was a bit berating. She insisted I must have placed the order at the LA store and even called the owner there, who was understandably confused when there was no record of my order (makes sense since I did not order there). She spoke in Vietnamese saying how it was customer fault and said how they haven't talked to each other and so long but now that they are it's because of an issue. I had communicated thoroughly that I ordered here, in store, so I'm unsure why she contacted the LA location. The situation seemed to have not gotten closer to a solution but I noticed a VIP drink sitting on the side. When we matched the approximate time of purchase to the drink, it became clear that it was mine and the female staff provided it to me. What made this whole experience worse was the dismissive attitude from the staff and the possible owner present during the time as there was an older individual. I didn't feel supported as a paying customer, and I was made to feel as if I had done something wrong when really it was a breakdown in their system. If selecting "no receipt" causes this much confusion and also prevents your loyalty points from being recorded or texted to you, then it's not really optional and the system needs an update to reflect that. The female staff mentioned towards the end that their system also doesn't text you when you select "no receipt". I'm hoping this was a one-off bad day, but this kind of service left a bad taste and made me rethink my visits to this location. I truly hope the staff is trained better to handle these situations more professionally and with a bit more empathy moving forward as they can make customers feel overwhelmed and berated. read more

It was a bit loud inside (only seats available were right next to the speakers), so we moved outside after 10 mins or so, only to realize we couldn't hear our number being called outside, so back inside we went. Overall, we waited around 20 mins for our order to come out. Bf said the cream coffee was okay - he was surprised at the coffee jelly. My lychee tea was bitter - I ended up tossing it after a few sips. The popcorn chicken was decent, but a bit overcooked. Overall, I was underwhelmed by my tea and snack. I've given Tram Cream Coffee several tries at this point (both SJ and Sac locations). I've come to the conclusion that Tram is severely overrated and over priced. I don't appreciate having to spend almost $10 for a large drink full of ice, even when I've requested less ice it's still SOOOO much ice. The drinks are short when you order it with less ice as well. I've worked in boba cafes and it is so easy to make up for less ice without sacrificing taste and quality. Coffee and teas taste just like your typical Vietnamese coffee and tea. I'm sure being in SJ there are great alternatives with similar taste profiles. Limited seating as it's a smaller shop, there is no wait area. You're kind of just forced to huddle around the counter waiting for them to call your number. Speaking of which, I also think this location would benefit from investing in a PA system of some sort or text notifications. read more

Tram Cream is still one of my favorite places for egg coffee and usually a place I recommend to others looking for their gateway to strong Vietnamese coffee. From their Egg Coffee, VIP and White Coffee (my go-to) in comparison to their other bev options I would say stick with the coffee. Their drinks are made consistently, also take note that the drink to ice ratio is for a good reason. The coffee is rocket fuel, leave time for the ice to melt and sip throughout the day. If you love chugging your drinks, you'll be blasting off on your caffeine high with Tram's coffee. Coffee is rich, strong with the right amount of bitterness and sweet. I've only had their Banh Mi here, so can't speak too much on the rest of their snacks. A bit on the high end but it is a bigger portion in comparison. Ordered in person at the kiosk as well on food delivery apps with consistent quality in taste and freshness of food, service is quick and in a timely manner. Only con is the crowded parking lot on weekends, never had to wait in line too long here. I also prefer this location compared to Tram Cream 2 in Vietnam Town in terms of quality and wait time. read more

But my order this morning, really irked me. When I'm paying for a 800 ML cup (the large), I'm expecting to get more coffee shots in my order. I figured that we did not need to add any more, and I was correct! The fresh chunks of orange and dragonfruit added such a refreshing taste to this beverage. This was the right boost of caffeine that I needed to jump start my day as well. Final thoughts: 2.45/5 Ever since this place has opened, I have noticed that the quality of their drinks have drastically gone down. I've tried their drinks and snacks so many times now and the quality of their products now really don't compare to what they previously provided. Averages out like this because of these various experiences. Drinks: Egg Coffee with Extra Shot: 2.1/5 This drink used to be such a favorite within my household. Nowadays, the drink that is provided is seemingly lacking on all fronts. The taste, aroma, and texture are no longer like before. For this drink, I added an extra shot, however, this drink was so light. For the consistency, it was very thin and watered down. Previously, the coffee would be a lot thicker and replicate the authentic Vietnamese coffee better. The texture of the egg cream was also lacking some body and substance to it. Their texture before would be a nice lucious, rich, and thick cream that was nicely sweetened and balanced well with the coffee. It also no longer has this beautiful yellow color. The color is very pale now. With the drink I got today, the egg cream just completely dissolved into the drink. The foamy leads me to believe that it's not just pure egg yolks either and it's a combination of like whipping cream or even the egg white portion of it to give it volume. Ultimately, it's not this lucious egg cream that I had once previously really enjoyed in this drink. For the aroma, their coffee used to smell divine and I would have loved to have some of those coffee beans. Now, the smell of their coffee is just your simple cup of joe. Looks wise, this drink is quite appealing and the color of the coffee is dark and beautiful. Rolled Rice Paper (Not pictured): 3.4/5 Again, their quality before was much better with these rolls. Previously, the balance of flavors was more to my preference. The last time I had this, the mayo on top was so overpowering and rich that it took away from the remainder of the dish. For the distribution of ingredients inside the rice paper, it was not even, so there were pieces where I would get a few pieces of everything in the filling and there were some where there were many components missing, which is not ideal. For the texture, the middle pieces are nicely hydrated, but the edge pieces can be very dry and poke the inside of my mouth. -------- Quality: Continuously trending downward Again, their quality has just been going downward since they first opened. When they first opened, their coffee was probably some of the best that I've had within the San Jose area. Perhaps the prices and tariffs had something to do with this, but the items and products that they were providing for us were no longer the same. Their drinks could no longer compare to other shops. Price: $$ They seem to lean more on the expensive side, especially for their coffee. For other drinks, they are of a more reasonable price. For one cup, it will range from $6 to $8. For their coffees, which are their more popular drinks, they are within the price range of $7 to $11 per cup. Perhaps it is only just one to a few dollar differences, but it matters when it comes to these drinks because the price ranges are very similar and within range of each other. Service: Limited, but nice interactions Previously, we would just order at the counter, so we would would have more interactions with them. They were typically very sweet and would answer any questions that we had. Now, they have a large standing kiosk to the left side of the counter. With that, the interactions are more limited. I will still order at the front sometimes though. They are very nice and pleasant overall though. Ambiance: Slightly cramped From the outside in, there is mostly just one straight line in. Something I don't really like is that the tables are lined up right where the line is without any space in between. This means that if you're sitting where the walk way is, you'll be right behind someone standing there if they're waiting in the line. Quite decently packed though with people still occupying both sides of tables. It's a decent place for a quick snack and drink, but I see people ordering out or buying to-go more often. This could also depend on the days, I'm sure. Location/Parking: Not cute This place is inside Paloma Plaza, which is right across from the Target on Silver Creek Road. Small shops and restaurant create the border of this plaza and then all of the parking is in the middle. Parking is not the best, spaces are quite compact, people seem to forget how to drive and park here, and it's typically very crowded. Personally, I don't like driving in here because I can't tell if my car will make it out in one piece. Some drivers will randomly park their car right in the middle or on the side like they're the only car there instead of actually finding a spot, which is really frustrating sometimes. I digress though. Again, will probably depend on the time and date. read more
