This is my second time back! The owner is SO sweet. I tried the iced golden egg cream coffee and strawberry matcha so far and both were pretty delicious and generously sized. I drank the egg cream on the way to work so no pics, but look at this work of art matcha. Know that these drinks run sweet and creamy. If you prefer less sweet they'll accommodate you but you'll want to ask! The egg cream is a definite repeat and while the matcha was SO good, the amount of strawberry cream made it closer to a dessert than the matcha I was looking for. I'm excited to come back and try their other flavors! Also they sell these cute little glass reusable cups at a low price with discounted refills when used! I'm going to get one at their official opening. I tried the grilled pork bahn mi and it unfortunately didn't hit for me. But the drinks are a definite must try! It's in the strip that houses the açaí bowls, palms n Patties, and the katsu place. Lots of street parking and there's a parking lot out back by Paderia. I want to try it and like it given all the great reviews, but I don't want to waste my time coming back to an establishment that has no explanation as to why they don't open as stated or even a small note on their door for customers if they have special hours. In all seriousness, if you can't open at 7am as stated, change the time. I came twice at least and nobody is here prepping before opening nor is it actually open at 7am. For customers who want to try, maybe try going after 8 or 9am, things might be ready by that time. If you have an early shift, I do not recommend it. read more

I went to Tran Cafe shortly after it opened. It was cheap and cheerful. I went again yesterday. I don't know what that was that I was served, but it pretty awful. It was totally edible, but the weird, mayo-based liquid was poured on super heavily and resulted in what I assume was the chicken completely dissolving into the sauce (which was rather disturbing). The cut sandwich didn't have an uncut layer wrapped the whole thing, which was totally gross (thank goodness I took it out randomly facing up, otherwise I'd have had the entire cut side falling onto my counter). Kiosk items don't completely match the huge printed menu next to the kitchen entrance, the sandwich prices in the kiosk are more expensive than the printed menu, the kitchen calls itself a ghost kitchen (how can you be a ghost kitchen for one eatery that is actually based at that location), and the employee hiding in the back (who only emerge to bring out food and then go back to hiding again) don't call your name or order number when they bring out the food (even though the sign above the kiosk says to note your order number). This was a pretty awful experience overall. I don't plan to return. read more

I also ordered the Morning Sausage Bagel (without the sausage & extra avocado) which was delicious and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back for more. Little hard to find. Excellent Viet Coffee!! I've been hunting for a good Viet Coffee place on the West Side and this easily takes the cake. The coffee is very strong (which I like) but also very tasty as well, and seems like it's legit Viet coffee not just espresso branded as Viet coffee. I got the pork bahn mi and I wasn't the biggest fan of it because the meat felt a bit chewy but it was still very solid. I also waited a couple hours until I ate it so I would like to try it again fresh. I wouldn't knock them for it. Entrance is kind of hard to reach but it's a ghost kitchen and a small stall in a building filled with other food. The guy who was our cashier and who I believe made our drinks was very kind! I got the Egg Coffee while my friend got the Salted Cream and it was quite delicious but I preferred the flavor of the Egg Coffee more and highly suggest it! read more

WE FINALLY HAVE EXCELLENT SOUTHEAST ASIAN COFFEE in Santa Monica!!! Not just coffee with condensed milk -- like SUPER strong and deliciously dark Vietnamese coffee like you get in Asia or Orange County. It's very cool that Berkeley Street Market has turned into a kind of Colony-like space, but what I'm thrilled by the most is that I FINALLY have a go-to on the west side for really strong and really excellent coffee. The Suada is where it's at, the pure and traditional Vietnamese iced coffee. If it's too strong for you, they can add more milk, but I found it perfect. My hubs got the strawberry smash, which was also delicious. Can't wait to try the food and to bring my kids.
