I've been in "Hole-in-the-Wall" sushi places that had much better sushi than this place. The raw fish had a certain fishy taste that promotes that the fish are not fresh. The sushi were not wrapped well and fell apart easy. Sushi should always have soy sauce available, but wasn't available with our order. The waiting area had very uncomfortable seats, which is fine since it fits the style of a sushi place, but the seats were sticky. Our food also came about 30 mins after we ordered them. Plus, other families were receiving their meals before us even though we ordered ahead of them. One would assume our dishes were more complicated and required time, but I can assure you that their dishes looked more complicated. I love sushi and I have eaten at numerous sushi places at different states and countries. This place is just fake news. read more

This is still my favorite all-you can eat sushi restaurant. The fish is extremely fresh and the value is unbeatable. For around $18.95, you have your choice of over 35 made-to-order rolls. Dude serving me was rocking some badass gauges and a beard worthy of a goat and his name was Edgar. Dats when I knew dis place was rockin another level. Service was very attentive and cheerful. The sushi chefs are very interactive with their customers. The all-you-can eat-lunch runs for $18 and you have the option of almost 30 special rolls and 12 choices of nigiri. YOU CAN'T BEAT DAT VALUE. I definitely ate more than $30 worth. You'll have to sit at the bar to get the AYCE deal, so you can flirt with the sushi chefs and make sure they make it goooooood. They get it to you in less than 2 minutes. They don't tease you long, but with the quality of the rolls, 2 minutes feels much longer. Their sushi is hella inventive. My personal favorite out of the six that I tried was the Mt. John - crystal shrimp covered with tuna. & octopus, topped with spicy cooked scallops, green onion & tobiko. YES. DELICIOUS, FRESH, AND BOLD. Sushi traditionalists, GTFO. Everyone else, empty yo stomachs and haul your ass over here. Thing is, since it's all you can eat, they do put more rice than you would find on a sushi roll. It's part of the battle. Every all-you-can-eat features a roll of the week. I never expected to find a decent sushi restaurant up in North Bend, but lo and behold, Trappers Sushi is fantastic!! To be honest, we were originally intrigued by it's location (close to home) and prices ($20 for all you can eat at the sushi bar). My husband can eat a mountain of sushi before he's even remotely full, so we usually don't go out to eat it because it ends up costing a fortune. So this was right up our alley! Plus, the sushi was delicious and the rolls were huge -- probably 8 pieces each and all of the ingredients were fresh and yummy. The sushi chefs were also super friendly and helpful when we were choosing what to order. All you can eat lunch is from 11-3 every day at the sushi bar. Dinner is from 11-8:30, but it's a little more expensive and has an expanded menu, I believe. We went on a Sunday in the middle of the afternoon and there was plenty of space for us at the bar. The "chefs" here do not even prepare the fish. All the fish is pre-cut and arranged in the case without being wrapped in cellophane. This shouldn't deter one from eating here as they offer a fantastically cheap all-you-can-eat lunch special. This is North Bend, not Seattle so it would not be fair to compare them with traditional sushi restaurants. If you order pumpkin spiced lattes and consider yourself a coffee drinker you will probably enjoy this place. read more

If you are sushi lovers then this restaurant is not for you. They don't have good fresh ingredients to make sushi like other authentic Japanese restaurants. They properly make it American style because every sushi they put Cheese in it and roll it looks like Gimpap of Korean. I don't recommend this restaurant since I ate sushi like daily food. read more

This chain is very unique to the Pacific Northwest. It's family run, they are tight knit and take much pride in their locations. We have gone to all the locations in Washington and have been pleased with every one. Unfortunately the day we went to the North Bend location, they were out of beer because their draft was out. I plan on moving to Washington in the next two months so I will 10000% be back after my experience today! A group of us went in for the all-you-can-eat sushi - I've never heard of this but it is GENIUS! To be able to get the all-you-can-eat you have to sit at the bar. It wasn't a busy hour so we were quickly seated and started our mouth watering journey. It wasn't just the delicious mouth watering sushi that was served - but the service! Our sushi chef (I have no idea if that's the correct term) James - was an absolute love! He just kept making us sushi that he thought we would like and he would hit the nail on the head every time. Even a friend of ours who does not like sushi and is very picky about it loved his suggestion to her. He gave us such good service that I tipped 50% - he was super friendly, creative, and personable and you could tell he loves to do his job and make his customers happy. If you can ask for him specifically or sit where he chefs at I would definitely recommend it. He is the kind of person you want to take care of you when you go out to a sushi place. We went to the one in Auburn and were blown away by the bar experience. We thought we'd stop by here since we were in the neighborhood for some All You Can Eat Sushi. Turns out, service and quality of food is just as exceptional. We mostly ordered rolls that contained raw/nigiri salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. All the rolls were really delicious and fresh. Some of the sushi rice was not that fresh tasting, but the quality of the fish definitely override the rice. We had some nigiri (salmon, tuna, yellowtail, etc) and they were delicious! The salmon and tuna were the best. Salmon melted in your mouth and tasted super rich and fatty. The tuna was also rich and melted in my mouth, an experience I usually don't get with tuna. And, the tuna didn't taste fishy as well. Great quality. Staff were attentive, asking for our next rolls and etc., and make them quickly. Sometimes when you go to an AYCE restaurant, the quality sucks and the service is meh. But Trappers at North Bend were amazing and the quality stood out for me. With the $30/person. read more

Trapper's is a regular place for me. I live in Tacoma and have loved their sushi for 7+ years. I visited this place after a camping trip and was really excited to see they've expanded to North Bend! What bummed me out was that their recipes seemed way different in terms of spices, and the service. We were offered happy hour at 6:30 (it ends at 6), double checked to make sure that was actually OK, were served our food, and THEN expected to pay full price after the food was consumed. We were given a different type of random discount at the end but it was not the same. It was also made clear we would not receive the pricing we were offered... Even after we reminded the server of his mistake! What the heck??? I felt kind of tricked! Came in here today to have lunch. Walked in to a totally trashed dining room. The one girl promptly greeted me and apologized for the mess and said she was the only one working the floor. She sat me and asked if I would like something to drink. Just wanted water. I sat and waited for over 15 mins and she never came to take my order or bring a water. Keep in mind I am in here on my lunch break and don't have all day. I have been here Many times and this has never been an issue before. Not sure what happened today but having only one person working the floor durning a busy lunch rush is not a good way to keep customers. There was two people in the back that I think could have come out and bussed the tables and given this poor girl a chance to get caught up. Management needs some help. read more
