The Best Happy Hour in Town
Gene D.

As someone who formerly worked at Southcenter Mall for 2 years, Trapper's was always the spot to come relax and unwind after work or on the weekends for late night Happy Hour. I would 10/10 pick this location over Federal Way or Covington. The food is quick, the service is beyond friendly, and staff are attentive, engaging, and overall customer centric professionals. I've had the pleasure of building a connection with two wonderful Trapper's employees and will continue to comeback for their stellar service. To anyone that hasn't come to check it out, take the time... You won't be upset.

Birthday Lunch 3/4 wanted AYCE so we had to sit at the sushi bar. Server literally ignored me (except to tell me I couldn't eat off my parties plates....duh!) When she finally took my order - it took 10 minutes to get my app AND 40+ minutes to get my 1 roll! The rest of my party was literally ready to leave by the time I got it. Sushi Chef Sophia? was amazing with my family, made them great rolls & even did her special "seared salmon" for them. It was the children's father bday & he loved it! She even made a super cute (& delicious) mochi plate with whip & brought it around for him with four! spoons..... When I got bill , I saw that they charged a 3% service fee and a 3% credit card transaction fee!! Build it into your cost!!I don't wanna see it if you have your price a dollar an item more. I'm not gonna notice it but when you make me pay a percentage, it just pisses me off. So I'm sure our server thought that I was just gonna pay for my two items and that the rest of it would be all on another ticket and she would get a big tip from them even though she did very little for them - It was the sushi chef who did almost everything.. let me tell you our server pissed off the wrong person because I paid the check. I cash tipped our chef very well. Our waitress can complain to the manager about."her tip" and maybe they'll give her the 6% which she didn't even earn. I've had good experiences and bad experiences at trappers. I think I just need to learn to only go to, Chef Sean at Sushi Kaunta!!!

Red Raspberry Lemon Drop

I had a wonderful first experience at Trapper's. Adrianna was my server, and oh wow this girl is GOOD! She recommended the Red Raspberry Lemon Drop (YUM!) and when I mentioned I couldn't find my favorite sushi roll (Philadelphia) she kindly explained that at Trapper's it's called the New York roll, and pointed to it on the menu. Adrianna was super kind and sweet during the whole experience, and even made sure my water cup never reached the half way point, but made sure to give me space to breathe and enjoy my food. The ONLY reason this place isn't getting 5 stars, is when the host tried to sit me, she couldn't find any menus and when she went to ask the manager where she could get more, the manager replied with: "and why is this my problem?" I was appalled at that interaction.

Always a great lunch (or dinner) date! The sushi is always fresh, their service is great! We even had a new server, who was great, but he was being shadowed to ensure we had great service!

Craving some sushi while at southcenter mall so I stopped at Trappers for take out. The restaurant itself was not busy but service was slow. As I waited for my to-go order I seen the host ask dine in guests to wait in the lobby to be seated "about ten mins" which is the same amount of time I was told for my order to be ready and it took at least 25 minutes. Tables were already bussed so the only thing I could see was them notifying the server that there was a new table to serve in their area. I got the trappers roll, some scallops were overcooked but you can't really mess up fried shrimp rolled into rice so my sushi was good. There is a 2% service fee added to your bill that seems sneaky and the service evening dining out was not great nor worth the price imo.

Vadder roll

Our order was Vadder roll, Spicy California, calamari, mushroom (something) appetizer, edamame pods, mochi flight. Everything we ordered was good with a sidenote that the $18 Vadder roll rice was gummy/pasty I think due to it being battered deep-fried (I'm not certain on their process just the end result left gummy rice). Our favorite was the Mochi flight $9.50 & calamari (although my daughter was surprised the calamari was the entire mini octopus). The hostess was good, the wait staff service was okay. We considered the "all you can eat sushi" but it was a specific menu of sushi to choose from & we weren't familiar with some of the options. We enjoyed the food & would go again.

Stopped by here on the way back home from a trip. I've been to a couple of other locations, and have always enjoyed the sushi, and it was no different here. We enjoyed our dinner here as well, and service was very friendly.

As you can see it was good

Great service! Food was mid. The karagae was funky looking but the sauce was 10/10. The sauce saved everything we ordered.

Price Point - There are several meat options served here that are very expensive but we tried it all. My personal favorites were the Spicy Pork Cutlet, the Salmon and Rice Bowl, and the wagyu sirloin skewers. Being from Missouri I knew that the prices would be a bit more than what I was used to but it really wasn't that significant. For 4 people who ordered a little bit of everything, we spent 140$ That's three appetizers, 2 sides, and 5 main dishes. For special occasions, celebrations, corporate dinners, this place seems like a great option. Now, in regard to the portion sizes. Pretty simple explanation, they do feel a bit small. Lastly, do they have options for children? I would say no but that depends on what kind of food your kids eat Hahha. This is more of an adult restaurant not particular organized for kids meals. Overall, I definitely recommend everyone check this place out. The food is so fresh and flavorful. We lived the experience and would definitely come back if we find ourselves in town again.

Started off strong with the uni shot, which was really good, and the sashimi fresh, clean, and exactly what you want from a sushi spot. We also ordered the mushroom and pumpkin salad with spinach, which tasted great, but at $20, it felt a bit overpriced for what it was. The rolls, unfortunately, didn't live up to how they looked. Presentation was definitely there, but the flavor just didn't hit. On top of that, they were falling apart pretty easily when picked up with chopsticks, which made them a little frustrating to eat. Service was solid overall staff was attentive despite how busy it was but they did miss our hamachi kama, which was a bit of a letdown. A couple things to note: this place is cash only, and it gets very busy, so expect a bit of a wait. That said, the vibe is nice, and the design of the space is something I actually liked. Would I come back? Probably for sashimi and appetizers but I might skip the rolls next time.

Hidden treasure in an area full of chain restaurants and mall food. Solid teriyaki joint…read more I had the Chicken teriyaki and veggie yakisoba combo. $19.50 on the menu. After tax and tip it came to $25.82. ( I almost always tip 20%). Seems like a lot, right? but this is the Seattle area. AND...the portion was so hefty I put it on my kitchen scale. 1 lb. 14.8 oz. That's almost TWO POUNDS. I was going to split it between two meals, but it was so good I ate the whole thing. Just the right amount of char and smoky flavor on the chicken. Moist and tender. The yakisoba was great. Some of the veggies were a little on the soft side but much of it was crisp and fresh tasting. It's easy to make teriyaki too sweet or too salty. This was just right. The yakisoba also had the right amount of seasoning without needing any extra soy sauce. Yamada Teriyaki is a no frills type of space inside a no frills convenience store (Mandalay Mini Mart), next to Wells Fargo Bank. I'm sure it's a godsend for nearby office workers during the week, and I suspect they do a killer lunch and takeout business. When I visited about 530pm on a Friday, it was pretty slow. If you're in one of the nearby hotels or apartments, give this place a try. I almost went to Wendy's and I'm glad tried this spot instead.
