This place was next to a nail shop I frequently go to so I figure why not try this place out. Place was pretty empty when walked in. It's pretty much your typical teriyaki joint. Lady behind the counter took my order. I went for the crispy chicken teriyaki and the grilled chicken teriyaki. We usually like ours with fried rice so that's what I upgraded to for an additional cost. The wait was about 10-15 mins. When I got home I was shock to see they did not give me the fried rice I asked for. Not sure if there was a miscommunication with the lady who took my order and their chef but they were to far from my place for me to want to go back and ask for a refund or even just have them remake it. Note to self and others ordering: please check your food to make sure it is right before leaving. The crispy chicken teriyaki was disappointing. It was more dry and not edible than it was "crispy" but my partner said the grilled chicken teriyaki was not bad. I wanted to like this place since the reviews were pretty decent. Ono Teriyaki is my new favorite teriyaki restaurant in the downtown Renton area. The portions are really big! My wife and I can share one plate, and we're both full. The prices are very reasonable for the portions, only about $8 for a huge pile of chicken and rice. The chicken has a really good freshly grilled flavor, and I love their teriyaki sauce! The interior is clean and there's plenty of seating if you want to dine in. It is hard to find, but it's worth the search. read more

My family and I always go here for their talisman, chicken Teryaki and chicken Katsu! It's always delicious! One star taken away because the rice gets super hard the second day! Definitely forgot to leave a review. Ate here for years as a kid. Then about a year before the pandemic started so 2019 the owner was so rude. He can barely speak English but he got his attitude across just fine. I was trying to use the Free Teriyaki on the punch card. I didn't have a lot of money and I needed to feed my kid. I didn't understand what he was saying until he touched my punch card and said no use here unless you buy first. We got into an argument about it and he told me to leave because he didn't want to honor his punch card. So rude. I've never been back. read more

Years ago Ono was pretty popular..and pretty good. But yesterday, it was mostly empty at lunchtime, and I was to find out why in short order. Pretty much suffered a total communications breakdown with the lady at the counter. I wanted to order a Pork Combo plate because the menu board stated that the Combo Plate came with two sides of my choice (I desired gyoza and tempura). But when I asked for a Pork Combo, the lady became excited, started gabbling, and pointed to several pictures on the menu glued to the countertop. I had no idea what she said, but I think she thought I was ordering a couple lunches. When I expressed a look of confusion, she gabbled and pointed some more. I was frustrated but decided maybe I could pull off placing an order by simply requesting, "Pork Teriyaki with a side of Tempura". Bingo! It worked! She understood! She then pointed at wrapped bowl of tossed salad and a wrapped bowl of cabbage salad and asked which kind I wanted. I indicated the cabbage salad. But don't get me wrong, this lady was very sweet. As I sat at my table, the lady brought out a bowl of tossed salad. It wasn't worth debating with her that I had asked for cabbage salad, so I ate the tossed salad. It was good. She then brought out a dreary plate of pork, rice and wilted gyoza. The pork looked like it had been sliced by some kind of machine - the pieces were super thin, tiny and rectangular. Besides being pale and wilted, the gyoza didn't taste good. On the other hand, the tempura (assorted vegetables and shrimp) were decent, the best part of the meal actually. They claim to have the best teriyaki in Renton. In truth, this teriyaki is about as generic as it can possibly get. I kind of feel bad for the mom and pop running this show; keeping a business like this in operation can't be easy, but they don't exactly do anything special. The exterior and interior of the store are completely plain and forgettable, as is the food to be honest. I ordered a pork teriyaki for $8.99. There was of course the meat and rice, both of which were average. The salad actually consisted of cooked vegetables as opposed to that lazy lettuce stuff that most other restaurants just dump from a bag and serve raw. I appreciated their effort in making this happen, but it's not enough to make this restaurant worthy of a recommendation. read more

I've notice other reviews about this establishment about the rudeness on the service but honestly times like these and covid trying your best to keep your regulars to come back is hard these times. This even feels like too many stars. My daughter and I went car shopping last night so we crossed the street and ordered food there. What I assume is the owner was a 10/10 on rudeness! Just TERRIBLE!!! Getting extremely impatient and loud and it was just completely ridiculous. I had a hard time hearing him and understanding him and he was just getting angrier and angrier as I was trying to figure out what he wanted. We wait for way to long only to end up with half our order. I told the guy he's missing half the order and he starts yelling and makes me pay again for the second part which he apparently didn't charge me for when I ordered. My daughter was terrified so I tell the guy that I really didn't appreciate how rude he was being and that I don't get how you would want to have a business to treat your customers that way. SO... this big lady who just seems to just be sitting there in a corner (if you see her, RUN...), starts yelling at me telling I'm the rude one for standing up for myself. I say "ok", because I don't care about getting into anything with angry corner chair lady and I stand waiting. He turns around and starts yelling that i have to go sit down, that it was 10 minutes and that I couldn't stand in a completely empty restaurant. After 25+ minutes wasted, I told the guy to keep my money AND the food that I wouldn't even begin to trust at this point. I was bad enough that it really tainted the whole "getting my daughter's first car" experience. Then I went back across to the dealership and he screams: "OMG! I wish you would have told us!!! That place is TERRIBLE! NEVER EVER go there!!!" The car salesman was dropping f-bombs because he was apparently as traumatized by his experience as I was. Alright this is insane, price listed on google is 6$ for a plate of chicken teriyaki , the dude manager didn't tell me how much the price was, charged me 35$ for two orders of teriyaki. When I called him he screamed the word clover at me for 5 mins which is the website he uses for his resturants menu, and he said the google page was from 30 years ago, but he played me out to be a criminal trying to get a free meal and it was the worst restaurant expereince ever, enough to download and give it a Yelp. The owner was so disrespectful that we felt like we were being punked..You can not believe what took place....We saw the cook in the back was very unsanitary...but did not say anything...He saw me watching and threw a fit...I said nothing...just watching...he ran to the counter and and snatched a curtain close to block my view..I was just standing by the drink fridge waiting...saying nothing..The owner came from around the counter and asked me to sit down..trying to provoke me by saying I was in his way. My friend who was outside caught the action and came in and stood beside me...the owner said .."you sit down" we told him we were just fine...he stormed back around the counter...smh..we simply walked away leaving our money and our food because we saw him go back to the back and open the food trays....I dont know what he did to our food..but he was so mad for no reason..we would have been crazy to trist and eat anything that he made for us...Very Bad experience and I hope thise reading this post..will starve this establishment until they are out of buisness. read more

Absolutely terrible service. The gentleman at the front has been rude to me and my family on multiple occasions. But the last time being the worst. After calling to make an order for pick up my mother simply asked the man on the phone how much everything was because the price he had given her was more than we'd ever paid and just wanted a breakdown of the order (Only 3 items). After that he hung up the phone in my mother's face. I than went in to pick up the order and he said that he didn't make it. I asked why not and why he hung up the phone and he said because my mother said it was to much. Which she did not and even if she did why would his response be to hang up? We have having been coming here for years and have been treated TERRIBLY by the gentleman at the front multiple times. I'd advise everyone to stay far away from this place. read more

I've had better, lots better! In fact I've been here before and it was lots better. Of course last time I had the Tempura and I should have stuck with that, you really can't mess up Tempura. Anyways, I was starving and couldn't figure out what exactly I wanted for lunch so I went here. I was going to get the Tempura but I decided on the Kung Poa Chicken & Shrimp, because I do love me some Kung Poa and it was the special. Unfortunately this Kung Poa was disgusting! The chicken tasted like all the bad parts of a chicken and the shrimp wasn't much better. The veggies, of which there were not much, where all wilted and the whole dish looked like it had been sitting there stewing for a few hours, probably because it had. Eww. I wanted to give this place more stars because the lady working the counter was so nice and courteous. But I just couldn't after choking down what I could of their overpriced, under delivered, dish of disappointment. read more

I have had a chance now to try a number of different dishes for lunch. I like the chicken sukiyaki and the chicken yakisoba but would stay away from either the beef or pork. Had the pork yesterday and it was fatty and overcooked. I find that the way they prepare the beef in their dishes makes it have a funny texture (a little like it's already been chewed) and it is a little slimy . I suspect that they pound it too much to try to tenderize it and may use a little too much cornstarch. That having been said, they are always very friendly, the service is quick and the restaurant is kept pretty clean. read more

I hate giving places 1 star but I have to do it... We've been coming here for a while now and it's always been a good experience. I ordered some take out for my wife and I on Friday night. I saw some "old/already cooked" pieces of chicken being put on the grill and I don't think much of it until I got home... Just like the other reviewers wrote they put back whatever ppl don't pick up from phone orders back on the grill... The chicken was hard as a rock and this is thigh meat not breast meat. My wife ordered the chicken katsu and it was left in the fryer too long, burnt and hard as a rock. I'm not expecting gourmet cooks at a teriyaki joint but the least they can do is cook some fresh food and not give ppl leftovers. Absolutely nasty, NEVER AGAIN!! read more
