This was my first time at this sushi restaurant. I ordered a few different items, and overall, the food was just okay. Unfortunately, the experience took a very bad turn when I ordered the deep-fried chicken, which came in a bowl with some greens. After eating a few pieces of the chicken, I had a couple bites of the greens and suddenly felt something strange while chewing. I spit it out and realized it was a piece of cardboard. I immediately told the waiter, but his only response was, "Let me remove the item from your table." There was no apology or any real concern about what had happened. To preface, I've ordered my meals a few times through Grubhub and never dined in, so i don't know how the quality and service compares to each other. But the food has always been consistent when picking up. The ingredients seem fresh and the items i order are flavorful. Their Ponzu seared salmon has a nice presentation, savory, and clean tasting; a light amount of ponzu brush on top. their salmon skin roll is always a hit, a nice amount of crunch and a drip of eel sauce. their takoyaki never disappoints, crispy octopus with a generous amount of their sauce, it taste like the Japanese Bulldog sauce, and a small sprinkle of Benito flakes. My only gripe is the guy with this bold glasses that keeps handing my food at the front desk, he's always got an attitude and has not reciprocated my thank you or well wishes after picking up my order (this is every time i pickup, i'm helped by this same dude); how about a little more good customer service mannerism please. fantastic food, i will come back soon! read more

Ordering by phone is quick and easy and they are always friendly over the phone and in person. The food never disappoints. Times I've sat in and ate have always been pleasant. Plenty of seating, although it can get busy here and you may have to wait to be seated. This time I had tempura asparagus rolls, fried oysters, and seared salmon. Was doing some shopping in the Southcenter area and was looking for a quick lunch spot far away from the food court in the mall. We recalled that there was a conveyor belt sushi place that we used to take the kids to called Sushi Land. The sushi restaurant was still there but now named Sushi Omiya. The interior seating looked exactly as we remembered of years before but that is most likely due to a limitation of the conveyor belt with different colored plates, each a different price ranging from $2 to $5. You can grab as much as you like but be warned that you pull it - you buy it. Ok now let's talk quality. What can you really expect the quality of sushi to be when it circles nearly the entire place on the conveyor belt and continues on the belt until someone grabs each plate? Round and round she goes. Is it fresh? Nobody knows. You really take your chances at a place like this. It is quick. There's no waiting for your order to be taken and served. You can start eating the moment you're seated. So if you just want to fill your belly quickly with something other that a tasteless McBurger then maybe this is a spot for you. I had four different plates of sushi and left full but mostly full regret. This visit was a good reminder to stick to sushi restaurants that care about quality and freshness that'll not only fill your stomach but also be much more satisfying. The first time I came here, I ordered takeout through the self-service kiosk. My cousin and I got our food about 10 minutes later, and everything was great. My sister ended up wanting some too, so we went back and placed another order. We waited until I received the text saying our order was ready, then went to the front to pick it up. A staff member asked for my name and order information, but told me it wasn't ready yet. I noticed a takeout bag sitting right behind him, but assumed it belonged to someone else. We waited a while longer and asked again, and were told it still wasn't ready. About 15 minutes later, a different staff member came to the front. We asked him, and he immediately grabbed the same takeout bag that had been sitting there since the first time we asked. Our order had apparently been ready the whole time, and we ended up waiting an extra 15 minutes for no reason. It was frustrating, especially since we had already received the text that our food was ready. I thought it was all worth it thought because the fried California roll was so good! I enjoyed my first visit enough that I decided to come back about two weeks later. This time I dined in instead of ordering takeout. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed because the imitation crab tasted off compared to my first visit. It almost tasted like it wasn't as fresh, which was surprising since it had been so good before. I also noticed a few flies around the container of imitation crab, so it made me wonder if that may have affected the quality. We missed the average cheap sushi that the closure of Marinopolis left. When we saw that another sushi restaurant took over, we had to try. The wait was just as long and we were finally seated after 45 minutes. The broken booth seat in the waiting area was still there. The food was surprising and we were excited to enjoy a meal that was above average. Even the wall art was the same. There is a weird smell in the restaurant that should make you sick but once you start eating younger use to it. Some of my favorite items are the tuna and seared salmon sashimi, which are always fresh and tender. I also love the Lion King Roll and the Crazy Salmon Roll. While the food was quite good, the service was unprofessional and dismissive. Instead of coming to our table, the server shouted drink orders at us from across the room at the cash register. When we requested a highchair, he responded with a dismissive "I know, I know," but never actually brought it. He never checked back on us once during the meal. The salmon nigiri cost about 3.50 for 2 pcs and tasted pretty fresh (even though I had low expectation because of the color). All the sushi rolls was pretty decent and tasted good. I love that this place was kid friendly and my kids had sushi roll options that they were able to eat . The service was kinda mediocre. The stuff that we ordered on the menu didn't come out til we were almost halfway done with our meal. The price was pretty good!
