We had a large group of 50 people for my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner party. This very important event was planned with the owner approximately 8 months in advance. For over $5k, our experience was disappointing for the following reasons: We were told we would have 7 round tables. We did not. We had several awkwardly placed rectangular tables in which we were constantly dodging kitchen staff. Extremely slow service. There was not enough staff on hand to service our group. We did not receive our main course until 9:30pm! (We arrived at 6:15). Some people with children had to leave early. Remember Trattoria knew several months in advance of the event and failed to provide adequate staffing. The busser spilled an oil-based salad dressing on my lap and stained my brand new dress and went up my leg. Accidents happen, but they did not even offer a towel or anything for me to clean up. (Really they should have offered to pay the cleaning bill). Long black HAIR found in my mother's salad!!! This is unforgivable. My mother (the groom's mother, too) is also the one who organized the event with the owner and paid the more than $5k bill. The acoustics were terrible. It was so loud, you'd need to yell in order for the person next to you to hear. It was over-crowded for the space provided. I'm certain had the fire marshall showed up, the restaurant would have been shut down as its occupancy was beyond capacity. Because of the terrible service, hair in food, the busser spilling/staining a dress, you'd think they would have provided some sort of discount as a courtesy. Instead they included a 25% gratuity onto the bill and then provided an additional space on the bill for more gratuity. Unbelievable! read more

We had our first dinner out at a restaurant in 14 months and this was a perfect choice! Delicious food and great drinks. My wife's glass of wine was generous and I had a WONDERFUL Old Fashion too. They begin by bringing out warm rolls and a small bowl of tasty olive oil for the rolls. I had the veal parmigiana with a side of pasta. The Caesar salad may have been the best I ever had. We'll be back to this area in November, and we'll definitely return here. read more

Amazing food and service...Nazmi is in the kitchen, behind the bar, serving, and chatting with everyone! I always feel like I'm the most important person in the restaurant because that's the way Nazmi is...just the very best and warmest host! Although the food is superb and the service is outstanding, I felt that they could've accommodated me more esp. when I wanted to put the 10-person table with the 4 person table for my large party and they unfortunately split up 2 tables of 7 which I did NOT want! NYS COVID law allows up to 10 people per table. As far as the "party planner" for $32/pp when it originally said $30/pp online, the amount of food served were very small portions. I thought they would be serving us "family style" which would've made more sense to put 2 big bowls of salad and pasta on each table instead of giving everyone REALLY small portions of salad AND pasta. If I had known ahead of time that the pasta was NOT an appetizer, I would've DEFINITELY had it served WITH the entrée because ALL the entrees came with NO vegetable nor potato on the side. My friend also told me after the fact that NOBODY, not even the waiter, offered them soda with their meals, which came with the price. Would I go back again?? Probably not. Nice, warm decor but VERY loud. Owner got us in on a busy night so grateful for that. Bill came to almost $70 per person with one bottle of wine and no other drinks. This was too much $$ for the food served. Maybe one notch above an average pizzeria. I got veal saltimbocca which was overloaded with cheese and heavy, brown sauce that had way too much sweet marsala. Son got the chicken alfredo that tasted like nothing if that is even possible. Ceasar salad had no flavor. Clams Oreganata app was tiny with mainly breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. Almost no clams, like a BJ's appetizer. I would rather go to 10 other restaurants in the area and maybe pay an additional $10 per person for an incredible meal. Or just go to a good pizzeria for similar food at 1/3 price. read more

Amazing restaurant. Every time I have had dinner or lunch it was always stellar. Always greeted as soon as you walk in. Huge menu selection. Specials daily. My two favorite dinners are the penne alla vodka and the Tortellini al panna. Salad is always fresh. The garlic rolls with the house dipping sauce is with the trip alone. We had a very bad experience here recently & will not be back. The food quality was poor overall & not what we expect of a professional establishment. The presentation of the food was equally bad. The best thing was the vegetable side dish and the rolls. The chicken tasted old and was very tough. The salad was very badly prepared & not fresh. My husband and I had dinner here on Saturday nigh. We were among many patrons who enjoy a good meal from this establishment. As everyone knows good food is made with love and can take some time especially on weekends when busy is all night. We had seafood that was done to perfection. Flavors were married so well you had to savor ever bite. We had some delicious white wine that the owner picked for us and it heightened the meal like it was made for the fish. I understand that the owner treats everyone like family which makes me feel special and it is never over done. This place is decorated with special care, the dimmed lights the soft background music is consistently delivering the best Italian food in town. Yes you can go down the street and have a big plate of spaghetti but this is for the foodie and wine lover. This is a place you take your time eating, just like at Nona's on Sunday. What a disappointment! Gave this a second chance--both times there were 4 of us. Waited over an hour to get our salads which were a disappoint. My husband and I have been eating here for a few years and the food and service were always impeccable. A very upscale restaurant and somewhat expensive, but always worth it. Unfortunately the last two times, like tonight, we were very disappointed. Our appetizer took 20 minutes to get to our table, because we mentioned to another waitress that we didn't get it yet. It didn't have all the items described on the menu. Then, our salads came about 10 minutes later, then our main dishes. My main dish was ravioli and was very undercooked. Been to Locanda's multiple times and every time has been exceptional. Food is amazing and the service is even better. Sit at the bar and Ardi will take care of you. He's on top of everything makes sure you have everything you could need or want and always has a smile and great conversation. Still continue to be impressed with the quality of food and the professionalism of the staff. On our last visit Ariana was tending bar and even though the place was packed she never got flustered. Everyone was taken care of in a timely manner and left happy. This has become one of our go to restaurants. We even have bought multiple gift certificates for family and friends. Everyone has left impressed and have returned on their own. One of the people we gave a gift to, complains about something everywhere they go. Entres were very good as well. Old standard orders - eggplant parmigiana and veal parmigiana. Service was prompt, professional and friendly. Prices very reasonable. The restaurant was packed when we arrived at 8pm, I think there was a big party going on but we saw the bar was open so we sat there.. which we prefer anyways. They seemed very busy with the party that service was a little slow but I wasn't in a rush so I didn't mind. The bread and oil they gave was so good. Our meals came with a Caesar salad which was really good. Then our meals came out a little while after. I had the eggplant rollitini. My only complaint was it said it had prosciutto (which sold me) but there wasn't any in there, I personally didn't mind because it was so damn good without it.. buttttt if it's on the menu you should probably make sure it's right. It came with a side of broccoli which was also really fresh. My boyfriend had the meat lasagna which he loved. Drinks were good. Price was not terrible. We're not super picky people so we really loved this place and would definitely go back. read more

Cute, authentic looking restaurant. The waitstaff is young and friendly. The owner will come out and talk to your table ... Shows how grateful he is to have your business. I felt like I was treated like family. They have a delicious looking lunch menu that I have yet to try. THE FOOD was delicious. I got the hot tails as an appetizer. I recommend fully! PLEASE READ: My wife and I used to love going to this place and refused to believe a friend when they told us that the owner needs an attitude adjustment... Fast Forward to 10/31/11- my wife called in an order for a large Grandma Pie (amazing!!!) I had just come home from work and was told to stop in and that we were told the order should be ready within a half hour. A close friend and I showed to the restaurant at around 645 and thought we were late for the pick-up... the owner mentioned that the pie takes a while and they were quite busy (due to local area power outages, people were heading out to grab meals at several places) we were told it should be approx 15-20min. So, we took a spot at the front of the restaurant and waited. 710...715...finally, at 720 we were handed the final bill and the waitress was quite nice and explained she was sorry for the hold-up. I asked if I could speak with the manager/owner. With that, he came over and asked what the issue was. I said, "It is quite ridiculous that we were given a half-hour timeline and we are finally getting our meal after an hour... it would have been appropriate if you gave us notice that you were busy and would not have our meal for an hour..." He then said we are busy and you have no appreciation for what I do here (evading my question completely). He then went on to say that if we were not happy we could leave (at this point I was not upset...) I then reiterated that we just would have appreciated fair notice that he was busy... and may have chosen a different place. He began to get very loud with me to a point where my friend was mentioning that he had never seen a customer get treated this way. I had another friend in the restaurant and mentioned to the guy that he most likely would not see my business again, along with the friends that i had in the restaurant... he then said, "I don't care... and your friends can leave too!" This guy has now made it seem as if he has no problem with losing business... and would rather try and berate customers in front of other customers (I could just imagine what the employees are treated like). Because he had become very belligerent throughout the disagreement, I had paid my bill and proceeded to walk out and mentioned to him what an "A**hole he was," After that, he proceeded to tell me to "go F myself," also in front of patrons (while provoked, I told him to do the same). So, if this is the type of place you would like to bring your family for a nice meal, think again. Oh, and when i was walking out of the restaurant, without any issue, his brother decided to grab me by my shoulder... again, if you like places that berate customers and don't appreciate that your hard-earned dollars keep them in business... or you don't mind seeing patrons get bullied and pushed out of a restaurant, then this is the place for you (sarcasm). I highly recommend that you find other nice Italian establishments in Dutchess County and not LoCanda. I hope that people find this to review to be most helpful. read more

We found this restaurant on yelp. Being from Philadelphia, we like it Italian food. We expected to eat pasta, but when we arrived we were given a restaurant week menu. The pre fixe menu was limited, but we chose caprese salad and calamari appetizers, osso buco, and a chicken dish, with New York. cheese cake and tira misu. My wine was tasty and a good pour for $9. Everyone was very friendly. We assume the man opening the door for everyone and checking in on us was the owner. Class act. I don't know if we'll ever be back in this area, but we will return if we are or if my husband has work in the area. Great meal and great people. read more

Went to Locanda to meet a friend after work and the experience was dreadful. This was the worst service I've had in years and it was not crowded. They messed up my meal and when I told the waitress it was made wrong she just stared at me, never offering an apology. I could not believe that they used canned asparagus in the shrimp scampi dish. Who uses canned anything in a fine restaurant? Just sad! They also brought out the wrong salad to my sister. It seems that attention to detail is severely lacking. When my sister asked for another cup of hot tea they took hers away and just added hot water to her cold tea. Who does that? Food was tasty but it's a shame that they don't seem to care about their customers. The waitress was gone so long with our credit card that we all put on our coats and stood by the table. Ridiculous! Great spot! Local feel- excellent wines by glass and bottle. Staff extremely accommodating. Came here based on online menu BUT it was restaurant week and they were only serving full price fix. Bartender (Danielle) was so courteous and asked (owner?) if they could do just the salad I wanted. Cannot tell you how friendly and accommodating the staff and owner were on an insanely busy night. A perfect Manhattan and house made rolls served with herb and eggplant enhanced olive oil took the edge off our hunger while we awaited Mussels Marinara - plump, perfect and plentiful for two. Caesar Salad crisp and flavorful-just the right amount of garlic. Shrimp Francese was perfectly complemented by a simple Broccoli Raab sautéed in garlic & oil. My Italian chef mother, a tough critic of her native cuisine, loved her generous portion of Veal & Eggplant with fresh mozzarella. Years ago it was great. I see our previous review has been scrapped. Have not been back since 2011. After 2 tries, we gave up! Rude, condescending (? why ?), sub-par food, a bunch of tables and chairs and blah decor, and an owner who thinks he's God's gift to the restaurant business. and Italian? Please, get a grip - it's not. People who gave 3 stars are being very generous. I agree with Nick C - a ZERO rating. You can do much better in NYC - lots of quality Italian cuisine there to choose from, and you will get your money's worth. Main ST.
