I love the Saint Regis Hotel, I personally think that it has some best views in the city. I've been to Miru upstairs before, I have been wanting to try out Tre Dita! Fellow Muslims and Jews, beware they use swine in ALL of their ragu sauces. They can't accommodate to change that. So you were pretty much stuck with vegetarian pasta options. I am a Muslim carnivore so this was hard for me, and probably the only reason I won't be back. The dessert, bread and drinks are out of this world! So so good. Good mock tails, I get the winter berry spritzer, so yummy and good for my Muslim heart! Great ambiance. My waiter was ehhhhh. But otherwise host staff was nice. It is expensive! My high bar for homemade Italian was met. As a vegetarian, each of the pastas we had were packed with flavor without feeling too heavy or oily. We really enjoyed the appetizers as well. The drinks are strong and unique and I could come back for cocktails and desserts. The chocolate cake was phenomenal. It was on the higher end price-wise and is a splurge, especially with the gorgeous view from the main dining room. Would come back for a really special occasion. Another LEYE hit! We went on a Friday evening and it was full to the brim but still enjoyed lounge seating at the bar. It was comfortable and the service was extremely attentive. On to the meal, which was exceptional. We started with the gnocchi which we could have eaten as a full meal. Perfectly cooked with a crispiness on the outside but soft and light on the inside. Next was the star of the night. The Caramelle Di Mais - by far the tastiest pasta I've had in years (if ever). A light pasta that were shaped liked wrapped candies. The corn within was perfectly sweet and creamy. I would have ordered 2 more dishes if I had room. I got the NY strip for my entree and it was good. It was almost as lean as a filet but still a strong smoky taste that comes with a strip. All around a great meal and will definitely go back. read more

First off, the restaurant is beautiful. The huge glass windows, tall ceilings, and great decorations. Service is great, started off with welcome drinks, constant refills of water, and great wine bottle service. Food wise everything was amazing. Every app we got, both breads, burrata, bruschetta, and squash were all sooo good. I got the pesto pasta for my main which I loved and I also got to try my friend's pastas (cacio e Pepe, rigatoni, and vongole) and each one was just as tasty. A Luxurious Setting That Fell Just Short of the Flavor This restaurant is undeniably beautiful--polished, luxurious, and every bit the "five-star experience" when it comes to ambiance. From the plush interiors to the attentive service, it's clear no detail was overlooked... except, perhaps, a few on the plate. Let's start with the sticker shock: my non-alcoholic beverage--a blueberry, mint, and club soda combo--was $16. For that price, I expected more depth or a lower price. As for the food, most dishes were good. The pasta offerings were a standout--especially the Linguini al Limone, which struck a perfect balance between rich and bright. The Fiori di Zucca (stuffed squash blossoms) were another highlight. Though fried, they were delicately done, with a crisp coating that gave way to flavorful, creamy stuffing. I'd absolutely recommend them. Another favorite, the Insalata de Cicoria. On the other hand, some dishes didn't quite live up to the luxe setting. The bruschetta, while clearly made with quality ingredients--peeled tomatoes, EVOO--was bland and forgettable. The New York strip we ordered medium came out overcooked, which was a letdown, especially at this price point. None of the sides were particularly memorable either; the Patate Fritte were passable, but didn't add much to the meal. Overall, this is a restaurant that dazzles on the surface and is very hyped, but doesn't consistently deliver on the culinary front. With so many excellent Italian spots in Chicago offering exceptional food at a similar price point, I wouldn't return. This is a beautiful restaurant that puts a lot of effort in their service and food. We tried the focaccia to start, which was freshly made and warm upon arrival to the table. We had the squash blossoms which were lightly breaded and filled with cheese, they were simple and tasty. Next, we tried the sweet pea pasta which was freshly made in house and by hand. Overall, the food was good, but there wasn't anything that gave a wow factor for me. Especially given the high price tag on each dish. One thing I was a bit disappointed with was the seating arrangements. We were seated on a couch with a small table, similar to what you would see at a café. We made a reservation at Bar Tre Dita at midnight when the reservations were released. I'm not sure how to get a reservation at the Restaurant because only reservations at the Bar were available. The bar was still nice and you can order off the full menu. There were decent views of the skyline, though you're not guaranteed a good seat. The interior of the bar was fine, nothing super ornate. There were 5 people in our party and we were celebrating a birthday. I got the Raccolto Invernale cocktail and it was sweeter than I expected by the way the server described it, but I liked it. They recomend sharing everything, so we got a few things to share. The Rigatoncini all'Arrabbiata and Schiacciata Bianca focaccia were my favorites. The rigatoncini had a kick, but it wasn't too spicey. Some Yelp reviews said they would skip the focaccia, but I'm glad we didn't. It was very buttery and delicious - more airy and light than traditional focaccia. The Tagliata di Manzo (8oz prime rib eye cap) was very good as well - tender and flavorful. The sqaush blossoms, cacio e pepe, and cannellini beans were fine, not notable. The texture of the ricotta in the squash blossoms was nice. The cacio e pepe noodles were on the firmer side - I know they're supposed to be cooked al dente, but a few more seconds of cooking would have been preferred. We ended with the chocolate cake, which definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. The service was sufficient. We definitely felt neglected at times and had to flag our waiter down more than twice. I was definitely expecting more attentive service. Overall, the food was good but on the expensive side. I suppose you are paying slightly more because of the view and because it is in the St. Regis. We eat at many Italian restaurants in Chicago and you can get better Italian food elsewhere without the extra up charge. I've been here a few times now and it's always impressive. From the service to the food you can't go wrong. Such a beautiful restaurant with nice views. The servers are helpful and friendly. Honestly, this place is perfection. Yes it is expensive but if you just reserve it for special occasions, then there's no issue! The ambience of this restaurant just feels special and fancy. Truly, I would recommend everyone come here just to see the magnificent architecture and interior design. They have an open kitchen and a pasta window. The service is superb and they make you feel extremely special. Really the only complaint I have is that it is a slow dining experience. You should expect to spend three hours here at least. However, the dishes are quite expensive, so at least you are getting what you pay for! We were greeted with complementary Prosecco when we had to wait an extra 10 minutes for our table. The drinks are lovely and they bring out an apertif for everyone. The food was very tasty and decadent. We tried the pan and salad steak tartar focaccia lemon pasta, parapadelle ragu, strip steak and a GF risotto. All of it was excellent, but the risotto was by far the standup dish. The only other suggestion I would say is they really need to offer more gluten-free options and just make their menu a little more allergy friendly . We were able to get a last minute same day reservation at Tre Dita on a Friday night was was nice. Note it is hard to find at first so you should just route to the St. Regis hotel if using maps. People also dress up a lot here and I felt a bit underdressed. The view of Chicago is super beautiful from the large windows of the restaurant. The setting and dim lighting is also nice. Service is excellent here too. To start we got the fried gnocchi and squash. I don't really like gnocchi or squash usually so I didn't expect to really like them much but both of these dishes were delicious. The squash is done tempura style and so good. I also got the bruschetta. I didn't love that the tomato's were not cut up but the dish was so pretty because of it. They use different colored tomato's too which looks cool. For the main course we got the linguine al lemon and the cacio e Pepe. If you love lemon you'd like the linguine dish for sure. The Cacio e Pepe noodles were a bit too thick for my liking to be honest. Portion sizes of the main dishes are kinda small and more like appetizer sizes or enough for just one person. For desserts we got the chocolate/cherry dessert and the tiramisu. The chocolate one was a bit intense and you'd have to really love chocolate for that one. Stopped here for dinner Friday night while in Chicago. In doing research of some of the top restaurants in Chicago, Tre Dita was both on the list and regarded as a tough reservation to land. With it being Italian, it was a no-brainer to make it a stop while in town. Located on the second floor of the St. Regis building, we took the elevator (which could be somewhat challenging to folks) to the second floor. Checking into the hostess station, we were quickly sat. There are two options - the bar area and regular restaurant. I can't speak to the former, but the restaurant is the one you want. Walking into the dining area opens up to 3 story tall ceilings and massive glass windows that overlook the river and the downtown skyline. Very cool atmosphere. We started out with the focaccia bread, and an order of the bruschetta. I also ordered an old fashioned. The bread was very good - comes out on a pedestal and piping - very good item. The bruschetta had good flavor - but the small full tomatoes made it annoying to eat. For my entree I went with the pico cacio e Pepe - which was very good, but very small. Would have liked to have 1.5x the amount served. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate torte. Very rich and flavor was great. I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant, as I had heard nothing but wonderful things about the food, the views, and the service. In many ways, those expectations were met. The food was delicious, and the service provided by our waiter, bussers, and the manager was top-notch. Unfortunately, the reason for this very negative review is our experience with the hostess staff at the front. My wife and I felt we were treated differently and unfairly by the three hostesses working that evening. I cannot say with certainty whether it was due to our age, our Asian race, or our appearance, but we were left with a deeply unsettling feeling of being prejudged. I understand that this restaurant is extremely popular and was fully booked, even on a Monday night. However, from the moment we arrived, there were concerning signs. Our menus were handed to a busser to seat us, and it felt as though the hostesses were reluctant to do so themselves. We were seated at a wobbly table that appeared out of place in the floor plan, positioned directly by the entrance, adjacent to Christmas garland décor, and in the midst of constant foot traffic. Feeling uncomfortable, I politely asked our busser whether it was possible to be seated at an empty table across the room. After checking, we were told that the table was reserved for a party of four and that there were no available tables in the main dining area. Reluctantly, we agreed to remain at the original table. As dinner service began, our waiter--who was very kind and professional--reviewed the menu and took our order. Shortly thereafter, I noticed again that the table was unstable and asked if it could be fixed so we could dine comfortably. While waiting for assistance, I observed one of the hostesses escorting guests into the main dining area. To my surprise, the table we had been told was reserved for four guests was then seated with a party of two. At that point, I requested to speak with the manager. He was extremely gracious, understanding, and promptly remedied the situation. In fact, every staff member we interacted with was respectful and professional, with the exception of the hostess staff. However, by the time we were reseated at a more appropriate table among the general dining area, the atmosphere had noticeably shifted. It felt as though the entire staff was walking on eggshells, and even our new waiter--who was equally courteous--appeared cautious. I had no desire to cause a scene. I simply wanted to move past the incident and enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. For anyone who has experienced prejudice, it is an incredibly unsettling and painful feeling--to not be treated fairly or with the same respect afforded to others. While I genuinely enjoyed the food and appreciated the efforts of the manager and service staff to correct the situation, the tone set by the hostess staff that evening had a lasting impact on our experience. I had every intention of ordering another pasta dish--the handmade pasta was excellent--and dessert as well. However, after feeling sufficiently patronized, I chose to finish only what I had ordered and leave it at that. I truly wish I had been able to speak directly with the hostesses to understand why we were treated differently from other guests dining that evening. The space itself is sleek, but what really takes your breath away is the view. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the cityscape. One of the coolest features is their pasta-making viewing window. It's oddly mesmerizing watching pasta being crafted right before your eyes. maybe the best type of art I've ever seen. Naturally, I had to try their signature Cacio e Pepe pasta, and wow. I don't usually indulge in pasta, but this one was something special. For my main, I went with the swordfish (my favorite fish), and it was flawless. This meal was nothing short of excellent. Just my opinion but here is what the experience was: Everyone we interacted with greeted us warmly and acknowledged our anniversary but I was surprised that we didn't have a welcome drink or something along those lines because we've dined at RPM's (also LEYE restaurants) well over a hundred times over the years and have celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc and we have always gotten a welcome drink and dessert. Not a huge deal but it's always a nice touch. Now on to what we ordered: We started with 2 dirties ($22 each) which were okay and the bruschetta di pollo ($18) which we both thought was good. It came with warm bread and I felt like it was the perfect size since I didn't want to fill up. Next we ordered the prawns ($38) which comes with 4 prawns in a green sauce which we thought were fine but the prawns were overcooked and since you only eat half the prawn, those are some expensive bites. Next we had the limon pasta followed by the ribeye cap and crispy veal. The pasta was a small serving, which we expected but the waitress mentioned its the lightest pasta but in our opinion it was heavy and too salty. The ribeye was good but it didn't stand out compared to other LEYE restaurants and the biggest disappointment was the "crispy" veal chop which was basically a country fried veal steak. It was tough and just disappointing. My husband took a couple of bites and was done. We asked for it to be wrapped up (since it was ~$100 all in, but we ended up not eating it so we should have just left it) but they brought it in a plain paper bag, which to me seems tacky for a fine dining spot but whatever. They brought us a complimentary small two bite dessert which was eh, especially for very frequent LEYE customers and for an anniversary but it was fine bc we were ready to go after the veal disappointment. All in with dinner, drinks, valet, tip and a 3.5% charge (to offset increases in prices, which usually is disguised as something for employees but basically is just an extra charge tacked on to bills bc they don't want their already expensive prices to be even more expensive - can you tell this is a pet peeve?) it came to ~$600 which is way too much for what we got. So we don't plan to go back but since it's so pretty, I'd say it is still worth trying. One thing I had trouble finding info on was parking/valet. If you're driving or taking an uber, maps will take you to lower Wacker but the entrance is on Upper Wacker and valet is $36. read more

We went on Sunday afternoon to Bar Tre Dita for the "La Merenda Toscana", which they describe as "La Merenda is a cherished tradition of leisurely afternoon snacking that embodies the heart of Tuscany". We had to make changes to our drink and main entree and our waitress was fast and friendly and listened to our concern. Oxtail ragu pasta was delicious! Every bite was satisfaction of chewy homemade pasta and flavorful oxtail. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the St. Regis, and the entrance is stunning. From what I observed, there's both a restaurant and a bar lounge area--I was seated in the bar lounge. While the space is undeniably beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views, I was slightly disappointed with my table placement. Despite having a reservation, I was seated near the bar, even though I noticed open tables closer to the windows. Sitting right next to the bar felt a bit distracting, which took away from the otherwise cozy ambiance. For food, we tried the bruschetta and the rigatoni all'arrabbiata. I had heard a lot about their homemade pasta, and it did not disappoint..I absolutely loved both dishes. The portion sizes were also quite decent. For drinks, we ordered the Golden Siren. Overall, I had a great experience, and I'd definitely return, hopefully with a better table next time. I also wanted to try more dishes, but I was already too full. Went with a friend before 5p on a Friday and was able to snag a table in the lounge area. So review for Bar Tre Dita. Beautiful interior and decor like a private club vibe, wish the table were a bit bigger, seating was awkward and not super comfortable. Espresso martini was ok not great, too alcohol forward. Schiacciata Bianca foccaccia bread was delicious and paired very well with the braised short rib meatballs. The squash blossoms were excellent, never had anything like it, highly fried to be crisp but still chewy with a pleasant ricotta filling. Had the Caramelle Di Mais, a seasonal sweet corn filling bow tie pasta that was really good especially if you love corn. Don't skip on dessert, the tiramisu was soooooo good, served in a perfectly sized goblet glass. Had a hard chocolate coating on top to break through to lady finger layers of goodness. read more

Located within the beautifully engineered St. Regis Chicago, finding parking may be harder than nabbing a reservation. After being greeted by the host staff, we were seated in the "Bar" section of the restaurant. Unfortunately, this area is oddly designed with a traditional bar counter, small intimate tables near the windows, and cafe-lounge-style seating along the wall. The layout is eclectic and our lounge seats made eating awkward. That said, our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. Now, the food. We asked our waiter for appetizer recommendations, and he explained the Chef's five-year focaccia perfecting process. The bread was impressively light/spongy and the tomato based topping was reminiscent of an Italian pizza. The squash blossoms were my favorite item that we ordered. The thin, tempura-like breading complimented the ricotta and parm filling delectably. The seasonal pea tortellini was very good as well, but it had a tough act to follow. Overall, Tre Dita's food is enough to come back, but the parking and uncomfortable lounge seating is enough to go elsewhere. It's worth a try but plan ahead! read more

I finally got to try this place, and it was excellent. I'd imagine at night it's gorgeous - I'll have to come back to experience Bar Tre Dita for this. We sat in the main dining room and passed the pasta making window, which was cool. You can definitely tell that the pastas are handmade in house! We started with the focaccia Bianca bread, which was soft and a nice start to the meal. It's very big as well. The shrimp dish had an interesting green salsa sauce and was pretty tasty. The zucchini blossoms were deliciously crispy with cream and recommended by the waiter for good reason. The MISTICANZA DEL CAMPO salad was actually a large portion and super light and fresh. We tried the spaghetti alle vongole, which I loved because of the light lemon sauce. The STROZZAPRETI ALLA VACCINARA was also tasty but in another oil based sauce which I wasn't expecting (expecting more of a red since it's ragu). This was still very tasty though and both were on the smaller side. Overall, everything was great from the food to the service and ambiance. Been wanting to try this place and was able to get an 8:45 spot with friends! The views and ambiance are perfect for a date night, girls night out and if you are feeling fancy! We were waiting for a while before we were seated on a Wednesday night! We ended getting the squash blossoms, lemon pasta, spicy arabiatta, lamb chops, and a filet mignon. Squash: nicely fried with a ricotta cheese filling! Limone pasta: I love light lemony pastas and this was a hit! Lamb chops: they had pieces of eggplant which tasted wonderful! Meat was a little fatty. Filet mignon: not the best and not the worst! Spicy arabiatta: delicious! It has like 5 different peppers and not too heavy! I think our server was super busy but she was very nice and responsive! Didn't end up getting dessert as it was very late! I definitely want to go here again and probably will! read more

I was a little leery having heard how this is the hottest place in town, impossible to get a table, such a beautiful room, etc... too often these places don't live up to the hype. Not here! Tre Dita is hitting on all cylinders. Wow! Absolutely loved the entire dining experience. I loved the understated elegance of the beautiful room and the top level service during the meal. They don't act like this place is a big deal. They just go about their service with great professionalism and pride in what they do. There's a nice connection with the guest. You never feel rushed. We were in good hands with our professional and accommodating waiter, Danilo... he made us feel he was taking care of our every need. Our sommelier, Vernon, was also fantastic. The food? Everything was insanely great! We focused on the pastas that chef Evan Funke is well known for. The CARAMELLE DI MAIS with Michigan Sweet Corn and Parmigiano Reggiano was a show stopper. The texture of the pasta so velvety, the flavors delicate... as it's seasonal, don't miss this dish if it's still on the menu! PICI CACIO e PEPE with Pecorino Croccolo, Black Pepper was fantastic as well, and perfect in contrast... a more traditional dish, but loved the chewy, heavier noodles of goodness, perfectly seasoned. Seems like you can't go wrong with any of the pastas here! I like that they position the steaks as dishes to share, slicing the meats before presenting to the table... like you're at a family dinner. The Wood Fire Grill, along with their method of cooking, added some magic to the TAGLIATA di MANZO, a 8oz Prime Ribeye Cap seasoned with Sea Salt, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is a cut you don't see often, and it was amazing. Very rich, buttery, super tender... we loved it. Paired the steak with an order of their PATATE FRITTE Yukon Gold Potatoes with Rosemary, Wild Fennel Pollen... perfect! The wine list is well chosen. I was happy to see the 2022 Grattamacco Rosso, a Tuscan red from Bolgheri (30% Cabernet, 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Sangiovese and 5% Petit Verdot). Of course, as you'd expect, really nice wine glasses. Kudos to management, Chef Funke and the entire team for what they are doing here. Can't wait to return and explore the menu further. We grabbed dinner tickets for $100 which came with a gorgeous view, several bite-size appetizers, two small cocktails, and a set of 4 marshmallow squares for dessert. The Valentine's Day menu was not included (and we did not order it) but it primarily consisted of different varieties of steak. What we got for the price of tickets was really just a couple of seats, which would have been tough to get on this occasion. And let me say - it was worth Instead, we ordered from the regular menu. We got the focaccia, anchovies with crostini, and fried gnocchi to start. The fried gnocchi and focaccia were delicious - the anchovies were just fine but nothing special. I ordered the linguini limone as my main, and my husband ordered the pappardelle - both were fantastic, and worth a return trip (or ten, let's be honest, this might be the best pasta in the city).
