I have been going to treat Nail Lounge every other week for almost 2 years since moving to the Evanston area. It has been such a delight to go there, as it truly does feel like a treat! The staff working there are warm, professional, and very friendly. I am always greeted with a smile and happy to work with any of the staff there even when my usual nail tech is not available. My manicures always last the full two weeks and sometimes even 3! I usually call ahead and book my appointment, but they always seem available to take walk-ins as well. 14 years have passed and I have been in a number of times over the years however my experience yestetday was not good at all. I booked a mani-pedi as a treat for myself. The pedi was fine until it was time to get up and move for the manicure. Apparently some oil spilled on the floor next to the basin and as I tried to lift my left foot the flipflop stuck to the floor and the polish on a couple of the toes smeared. I tried to move again but then I started to slide. I looked down and could see the smear marks in the oil (?) on the floor and was very concerned that I would fall. I got back in the chair and Jennie fixed the polish. The manager cleaned up the floor and they tried to put the same dirty/damaged flipflop on my foot but I told them I would walk up front barefoot. The real reason for the review is that my manicure is actually terrible. It started chipping within a couple of hours. I own the polish we used so I can do touchups if needed. However, looking at my nails up close I can see smears in the topcoat and how uneven the 2 layers of polish are. I don't know if Jennie was rushing to get to another customer but she didn't pay enough attention to my manicure and did a terrible job, as well as paying little attention to my cuticles. They did allow me to sit for awhile at the station to make sure that I was good and dry before I left. The shop is closed today so I have the option of repairing (read: adding a coat and topcoat myself) or waiting until tomorrow and calling to complain. I think they need to see the mess so I'm not touching it yet. read more

It was my first and last visit. I the middle of the pedicure I had to say to cut toe nails down more. I didn't feel let the buffer my heals or the bottom of my feet well at all. I tried to explain to the lady twice about buffing my fee, but she kept I telling me she did. At that point I just stopped her and was ready to end my service which was supposed to be mani / pedi. Post-vaccine as a treat, a friend and I met here for a pedicure - we were able to snag the last spot of the day. Immediately, we noticed that the salon was clean and welcoming. We had our temperatures taken and welcomed by Samuel, the owner. Overall service and treatment felt luxurious, safe and much appreciated. I returned again for a lash lift and tint with Nina who was kind and efficient. Overall, I am really pleased with the results - lash lifts are a guilty pleasure as they really open up my eyes without having to worry about pinching my eyes as I continue my search for the best eyelash curler. I came for a Brazilian was from this establishment. I scheduled over the phone for a Tuesday because they have a $35 special on Tuesday and Thursdays. I was told it was a sugar wax and it would be done by a lady name Laura. Upon arrival, it was fairly empty. Definitely abiding by COVID social distancing rules. I was super early and Laura took me right away. I didn't like how Laura didn't allow me that personal time ALONE to remove clothing before beginning the wax. She stiff there with me waiting. During the wax, she talked a bit too much. Whether it's my first time or not, I want peace. I don't need to be talked through a wax. She also kept making me hold my own skin. In waxing the specialist is suppose to stretch the skin to ensure you're grabbing the hair not the skin. But to make the client stretch their own skin? Not sure about that. There was wax everywhere (forgot to mention they do hard and soft. No sugar). Overall, she was nice, gentle and informative. Would I return? Prolly. You can't beat a $35 Brazilian. read more

I absolutely love Treat. Hands-down the best pedicure I've gotten in years, in an intimate, warm, midsized space, rather than one of those huge mani-pedi factories. They carry a giant number of eco-friendly nail polish, and use eco-friendly scrubs and products. It's very clean and doesn't smell like gross chemicals when you walk in, just a relaxing spa. I was lucky enough to get the owner, Samuel, to do my pedicure. He is such a kind person and very meticulous about his work. The best part-- for an extra $15 you can get a 10-minute long foot massage! So worth it! It was heavenly. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Although the pedicures have been nice, there is always a push to get out fast. This didn't matter until yesterday. I had regular sneakers. When the tech was done, she told me I should wait at least 15 minutes. 9 minutes later, she came back, put oil on my nails and plastic bags on my feet and said I was done. When I got home, my big toe was completely smeared and a couple others were ruined. I give it 2 because they offered to fix it. When I told them I would come in to have it fixed, but not come back after that, they offered me a credit for the next time. If the rushing was a one off, that would have not been a big deal, but it is every time. read more

The salon is nice and clean, but a little cramped quarters. They have half massage chairs for pedicures and half regular chairs, so be sure to request a massage chair if you prefer that. My pedicure was overall nicely done and did last about 3 weeks. I was a little annoyed that at the end they had me get up and move to the cramped "waiting area" (there is no dry station) which was full, so I had to stand awkwardly in front of the polishes which others were trying to look at. I had to move around several times and two toes ended up smudged. They did fix them for me but seemed a little annoyed about it. read more

The look and feel of this salon is fabulous no doubt but from the cuticle work, filing and actual polishing is where my technician went wrong. My nails just look sloppy. This place is amaaaaaaaaazing. Me and my sister have been waiting for years to try this place out, it is pricey, so would always say one day well go there. Yesterday was the day. And, it was even better than we expected. As a minority when I walk into high end places, Im usually treated as the "other" and customer service is lacking at best. Not at Treat, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and everyone was so respectful, kind and courteous. This place is CLEAN and beautiful and modern. The staff is extremely professional, they quietly do their work while you enjoy your mani/pedi. I got the spa mani/pedi and my sis got the no-chip and spa pedi. The spa mani included a regular manicure-filing, buffing, removing cuticles etc. They also dip your hands in a bowl with oil and rose petals. Then they use a polishing scrub to exfoliate your hands, then they rinse and massage your hands with lotion and hot stones. It is soooo nice. Then they do a paraffin wax and put a hot towel on. Then they give you back massage which includes shoulders and arms, soooo relaxing =) Lastly you get your nails polished, pedi is the same minus the back massage and minus the rose petals. But their nail polish remover smells like roses as well. After your nails are done, you get drops added to make sure your polish dries quick. After we were done, the owner asked us for feedback on our experience and a critique. Honestly, we loved everything, it was well worth the price, the staff was amazing, service impeccable. And every business owner should talk to clients and ask for feedback on experience and what they can improve. Such an awesome philosophy and way of doing business. If you are like me where your toes are sensitive to getting cuticles removed, just let the staff know, they do ask before each step if you are okay with it, but its good to give them a heads up. I stopped in to make an appointment for a manicure using an online gift certificate I had received. I was told that I had to have their paper version and envelope to use it . When I received this online certificate, the giver didn't d not send a n accompanying paper version. I explained this to the host; I showed him the certificate multiple times. He refused to accept my online version and repeated" we don't accept online cards"! I doubt this is even legal and that the host was confused. but At some point , I just stopped showing him the certificate and left. My mom and I were visiting from Kansas City and let me just say, if it were acceptable to fly to Chicago to get my nails done... I would do it! This place is so amazing! We were so relaxed that we almost fell asleep during our manis. It is very busy, an appointment is almost necessary. We didn't have time for a pedi, but I bet it would be great too. It's been years since my last visit but it's just as clean and contemporary as I remembered- even more so. The technicians are friendly and accommodating. Everything is so well thought out here- from the decor, to the cleanliness and treatment. It's a bit on the pricey side but you definitely get what you pay for. Now for the good stuff.... convenient location on Central Street near all the fabulous shopping... metered parking on street and a public lot right across the street. And the decor... simple, tasteful, understated, elegant.... lovely music playing softly in the background (none of those blaring televisions going on)... the staff of women are kind and courteous... oh and CLEAN..... spotless... no heavy chemical odor and the items used for my manicure/pedicure were opened up from a sterilized package.... the pedicure chair was perhaps one of the most comfy I've ever sat in and the rose petal water was lovely... the only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star is the leg massage could be a little longer, but a nice touch is the salt scrub before the massage I am switching to Treat for my mani-pedis. Went there for a pedicure. I don't do this very often, but when I do, I like non-toxic nail polish. They offer this, and in a variety of colors. Massage chairs while you soak your feet..... ahhhhh heaven. Atmosphere is relaxing, the staff attentive, and their work space is clean. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I have been looking for a nail salon like Treat for a long time. This salon has the look and feel of a high end spa with the prices of a strip mall nail stop. (I paid $20 for an amazing French Manicure.) The set up of Treat is beautiful. Pink, green and white decor are crisp, clean and calming. The manicure bench has sinks next to each seat so all the water used is fresh and clean. The water your hands are soaked in has rose petals floating in it and just plain made me feel pretty. All of the tools that were used were taken straight out of the bags they are sanitized in. I checked out the pedicure chairs and they looked equally fresh and clean. Treat has a great big selection of OPI nail poishes as well as a few other brands. I can't wait to go back for a pedicure!!! WARNING - Make sure you bring enough money to feed the meters! There is a lot across the street and the whole time I was in there Evanston parking cops were on the prowl. In half an hour I watched them give 4 tickets. No joke. read more

I came across this new nail salon by accident when visiting the Paper Source on Central Ave. (next door? few doors down?)... I got lucky and got my manicure free when I paid for a pedicure--a special they are running through the end of August. They use eco-friendly products, and the salon has a pleasant and modern atmosphere. The staff is friendly, too. Plus there's lots of magazines, which I always love, and they have those comfy massage chairs while you get a pedicure. After 4 days, my manicure is still intact...but I've never known how long they are supposed to last anyhow! After landing a job in Evanston and moving to Lincoln Park from the NW burbs I knew I needed to find myself a new nail salon for my bi-weekly mani/pedis. After much research I finally landed on Treat and I was pleasently surprised with my experience yesterday. About 2 weeks ago I strolled in here around 5:15 looking to get a manicure. I didn't have an appointment but who needs one when you're walking into a strip mall salon? Apparently here you do (hence, minus 1 star). I was turned down then and I walked out disappointed but I vowed to return. It smelled so nice in there and I wanted to check out the experience for myself. When I called yesterday around noon I was able to make a 5:00 appointment. Upon arrival I picked out an OPI polish, though they had several other brands which I suspect may be "organic" or "natural". I sat down at this long white table next to another client. Each technician has their own sink at the table but it is more of a communal feeling than individual tables. The place is simple, clean, and elegant. Faux grass (bamboo?) covers the glass walls and they have these adorable chandeliers hanging from the cieling. As far as my manicure, everything was top notch and CLEAN. They took the tools out of the sanitizing packets, soaked my hands in green tea/water/rose petals, gave my hands and forearms a ginger sugar scrub, and used Kiehl's lotion for my massage. My tech was sweet and friendly and was maticulous about my polish. My cuticles look beautiful. At $15 I thought this was a real "treat". Though my little Korean salon back home in the burbs charges $12, they are not nearly as clean and sanitary as this place. I wouldn't say that I felt like I was in Mario Tricocci but this was definitely a relaxing and soothing experience. There are none of those toxic fumes flying around and I didn't feel like I was going to get nail fungus from anything there. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Treat and will be back again. Pros: The place is very clean and inviting. You feel like you're in a spa. Its quiet. I came here on New Years Eve one year to get a manicure and pedicure before going out that night. Overall, the service was fine. They took their time with all things, etc. Cons: The priciness. With tip I think I ended up spending over $60, which in my budget world is too much for something like this. This was cemented in my head even further when my polish chipped and smudged almost immediately after leaving the place. This was after I waited almost 30 minutes for it to dry. Also, you can't just walk in, you need to have an appointment. I can't take off too many points for this because some places are like this and some are not, but I prefer not to have to pre-schedule a manicure or pedicure, I'd like to just go when I have time. This place is great! What a welcome addition to the Central Street lineup. I grew up in the neighborhood and Central Street has been in need of a cool nail place for quite some time. I ended up at Treat the other day when a friend suggested manicures instead of our standard coffee date and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. Treat's interior is clean and spare and fresh. Bright white walls, dark wood accents, real porcelain sinks and warm, inviting light provide a relaxing and interesting environment in which to be pampered. There is a 'bookshelf' smartly displaying a vast array of nail polish and a wonderful backlit wall featuring large photographs of green grass that you face when you sit for a manicure. The owner, who is on-site for both quality control and to make the experience more personal, plays handpicked indie pop and others such as Bebel Gilberto, Sade, and Diana Krall. Treat uses natural and organic products--I've never gotten a manicure and had my hands arms massaged with Kiehl's lotion before--and technicians are experienced and efficient without making you feel rushed. Prices are reasonable (see above review) and appointments start right on time, so you aren't kept waiting. I highly recommend Treat. it's definitely affordable enough to make it a habit--I can't wait to go back for a pedicure! read more

Update - Treat offered to do a polish change as I was unhappy with how quickly the polish chipped the first time. Gia was nice enough to also shape my nails before polishing. I appreciate that they stand behind their work and wanted to make sure I was happy. It's been three days now and the polish on my toes still looks great. I'll update again if that changes. My nail polish is chipping but I do expect that after 3 days. Gia was fantastic to work with and would go back to see her again. 2.5 stars - the salon is clean and quiet, though it's almost too quiet. The pedicure massage chairs are nice. However, I am not likely to go back again as my pedicure started chipping in less than a week! My manicure chipped in less than a day. For $55 + tip I expected much more! A good pedicure should last a minimum of 3 weeks, IMO. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my pedicure experience here and can't wait to go back! I'm very skeptical about trying new nail salons because you never know what you'll get and whether it's going to be clean and calming. However, Treat definitely lived up to my expectations. The decor is bright with white walls, dark floors, a cool seaweed green wall and amazing massage chairs (be careful while drinking a hot beverage). I love this place! Sad to see some three star reviews, but with most nail salons, it's a crap shoot. I had the luxury of living on Central when the lounge opened, so customer service has never been a problem for me. I'm sad that I've moved to another place and I'm no longer within walking distance to this place. One great thing about them is that they don't do fake nails, so the place doesn't stink! And apart from a no-chip mani, this place wins for longest-lasting color. They also have no televisions, which is rare and relaxing. The music is always fun. Such a "treat'!!!! read more

Treat is very conveniently located to me, and I love the atmosphere. I'm here about every three to four weeks for mani / pedi and every technician I've had is great. Some are more personable than others, but they do a consistently good job and I haven't had a bad experience. The set up of the manicure stations is great and the pedicure chairs & tubs are fantastic. Also, rose petals are in every pedi tub & mani soak dish ... nice touch! I learned my lesson early on that I usually cannot walk in and get an appointment. Although the owner / hostess always tries to be accomodating, she always gives the impression that I'm bothering her by either showing up for my appointment or walking in to book one. I previously use to go to a place near my house however they went a bit down hill. I was on a mini quest to find the perfect nail salon but every one I went to was filthy! I mean gross! Treat is a little expensive but the service you get is amazing. And most importantly CLEAN. It's so peaceful I wish I could stay here all day. I also got my eyebrows done as well. I should have known better then to go to anyone else then my normal waxer but my mother insisted. I may just be ultra picky about my brows so i won't deduct to much since I really just came for nails. I will just be going here to get my nails done for sure for now on. read more

I've been a customer here for a while, and have had good experiences with manicures (I also like that they carry some low-toxic products and do not offer services where the staff use electric files and tools that cause dust. The salon appears clean and usually can accommodate walk-ins. There are definitely some amazing technicians (Jenny) and some "meh" ones. However, the reason I'm giving the salon three stars is because on a visit in late summer I decided to treat myself to a pedicure, and about 6 weeks later I was gifted with a painful and gross plantar wart. Having been barefoot literally nowhere outside of my own home for the last two years (thanks COVID), I can say pretty confidently that I picked up the virus at this salon. While I know the salon cleans their metal tools in disinfectant (they come pre-wrapped in sterile plastic), I did not witness the same of their pumice files/stones, which are admittedly harder to disinfect. And, while they do clean the foot bath bowls after each customer, I suspect they are only able to run a full cleaning cycle of the foot bath jets (not just the tubs themselves) once a day. Unfortunately I won't be back to this salon (sorry Treat), and probably won't indulge in salon pedicures ever again. read more

So disappointed. I took my 13 year old here to celebrate a big accomplishment. The staff was unfriendly, which I've experienced on 3 other occasions but kept hoping was a fluke. I guess not. They charge adult prices for kids over 12, but we noticed how rushed her pedicure was compared to mine. I don't know if the woman doing her pedicure didn't realized she should've received the "adult" version, but she shortened everything. My daughter wondered aloud later if she should have had a top coat of polish applied, which I received but she didn't. Wish I'd had time to go back & ask them to finish the job properly. I also wish I'd taken her elsewhere so we both wouldn't have left feeling our special 'treat' wasn't special at all. I live a block away, but in the future, will get in my car and drive somewhere else. There are other Evanston salons that offer a much better experience. read more

Okay let's just start by saying there are literally hundreds of nail salons in the Chicago area. My mother and I chose this location because of the fantastic reviews and the appealing atmosphere. I'm thinking they had to pay their customers to write those reviews. Our appointment was at 6 pm - they close at 7. We are visiting the area and were running a few minutes late. At 6:04 they call and ask if we are still coming and we explain the traffic situation and that we would be there in two minutes. We were. We walked into the most unwelcoming glares I could possibly imagine. Trying to ignore the looks we got we selected our polish colors - my mom was getting a pedicure and I was getting a gel manicure. Who - I would guess - was the manager or owner of the salon stood directly behind me as Jenny (the nail technician) began removing my previous gel manicure. She was so rough in her removal that the skin around my nails began to bleed but she kept going. Each time jenny set a tool down, the manager would swipe it up and take it away. They were definitely in a hurry to close up. I get it. So once she beats my fingers up and has the old gel removed I tell her to just do a very small trim on my nails and not do the gel manicure. I have strong, long nails. Or at least I did. In her "tiny trim" she hacks them off and then beginnings filing into a unrecognizable shape. She puts cuticle oil on but doesn't even touch the cuticle. I'm disgusted by the negligent level of customer service. They then tried to charge $20 for the butchered job. No way. This place is a joke. read more

I love Treat!! Getting a manicure or pedicure (or better yet, both) at this nail salon is one of the more relaxing ways to spend your time. That is, assuming you can ignore the Real Housewives of Wilmette taking their 5-year-olds in for manicures. Luckily, the service and atmosphere at Treat melt away all but good feelings and leave you entirely de-stressed. Thank god I was in the mini-massage portion of my manicure when I realized the kindergartener sitting next to me had a better iPod than I do! Treat has modern decor (I love the back-lit glass panels in the front room) and always smells really nice. As will you after leaving! The women working there are sweet and all do quality work. They also don't hassle me about having terrible cuticles/hangnails as other nail salons have - grrr. I'm especially a fan of whatever lotion/paste they use for the massage with both the pedi and manicure - it's somewhat exfoliating and completely wonderful. They have a wide selection of colors from a number of brands, including a few formaldehyde-free (free of other chemicals as well, but that's the one that stuck out to me) and eco-friendly ones. Last but not least, the music is a nice blend of indie rock, folksy and girl-on-piano stuff - but not the horrible representatives of that genre. Think more Fiona Apple/Tori Amos, less that girl that was on that music-website commercial with the Cool Kids once. Ugh. I'd call ahead to make an appointment on the weekend, but walk-ins during the week seem to usually be ok. Prices are definitely affordable, $15 for a manicure can't be beat (at least not with this quality of service), and they also have gift-cards available.
