This place belongs in 1960s Berkeley California, not present day Farmington Hills Michigan. There must be a protective energy bubble surrounding it that guards the store from the winds of change. It has the glorious smell of an old school health food store which is hard to come by these days. And the cafe's food tastes like old school health food store food too. Although, that "earthy" quality may not be to everyone's liking. The Treehouse definitely stands out from any other health food store I've ever been to. It could be the love child of Whole Foods and an Antique Mall. From the outside, it's just a concrete box but they've painted it with bright & cheerful colors. When you step inside, it's a bit on the dark side with a 'science' room to your left and fresh produce to your right. Some of the shelves are empty while others are stocked of handmade soaps, necklaces and essential oils. There is a large shelf reserved just for spices and herbs. To top things off, there is also a library, piano for playing, eating area and space for massage. If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, there are calming crystals all around...., But I don't come here to feel calm, I come for the smoothies. There are several to choose from and the ingredients are always fresh. My favorite is the 'black drink' with kefir which is made in-house, juice, charcoal, maple syrup and honey. The drink is uniquely delicious and not like any other smoothie I've had before. I commend them on their creativity. They also serve fresh salads and several raw dishes. A few Sunday's a month, they hold a raw food buffet. The staff are always helpful and kind so I feel comfortable even among the bizarre posters and pamphlets claiming to have the cure for certain diseases. Farmington never saw such an odd child but I've been going to the Treehouse for 16+ years so I think it is here to stay! read more

I wanted to like this place. It was whimsical, colorful, full of fun herbs and plants. The people were super nice, if not a tad quirky. The older gentleman, owner I think, was definitely out of a book -- something like a quintessential hippie professor who took too much acid and thinks he is now a healer. I don't doubt that he has studied holistic medicine quite a bit but I'm dubious about basically everything he said. He also asked me if my mom was a psychic and then proceeded to tell I inherited her psychic abilities. Cool cool cool... Anyway, came here because I was at a wedding down the road which had zero vegan options so I have starving. Dragged my little sheltered cousins with me and their minds were blown by this place; I think not in the best way. Definitely a memorable experience though. I think worthwhile to check out once because it's amazing this place even exists in Michigan. The food was meh -- the falafel balls were pure salt, veggie burger was good but o didn't love the texture, chili was gross and tasted like it came from an old can. Smoothies were the highlight. I might check this place out again but only after taking several edibles. read more

I mean how can it not be when they remind you that health comes the best food you can give yourself. Raw, organic, vegan. Its here. Its a family developed place, from the heart. Don't waste your time!! Nasty Environment!! I gave this place about 5 chances because I liked the fact that they had bulk herbs and Vegan Food and a friend said they sold Silica which they did not have. I went in and ordered what I thought was fresh juice only to sit down and watch as the person was hauling bags of frozen fruit to make a smoothie, not what I expected. I also saw they had signs for wheatgrass which there was none. I got my Vegan Reuben and it was soggy on a bread that literally fell apart after the first bite, it was just okay, nothing to get excited about, and the side of some yam slaw looked brown on edges lie it was old so I left it on the plate. As I sat there eating there was a man sitting at a table next to me in some white long garb clothing like a Guru and long gray hair, weird jewelry around his neck, and sandals, he began to talk to me as I was eating and would not stop despite me not saying hardly a word. He went on and on about Biodynamic Food, The moon and the stars needing to be aligned, it was weird to say the least. He said I looked unhealthy because I am a bit overweight, and he said they offer a diet called Gerson that could heal me. Later I found out through the person at the register the Lady with Gray hair and about 100 pounds overweight was his daughter, I guess that diet is working well for her lol. The tables were filthy with cracked tiles, the place was filled with all kinds of dusty relics, books, broken instruments, like a big crappy yard sale. I had ordered a half sandwich and was give a full sandwich, when I told them I ordered half they were like "Oh, Okay", and asked me to pay for the full sandwich which I said no because I did not order that. Nobody writes down your order nor gives you a written receipt as to what you ordered. The ceiling and the entire place looks run down, like the ceiling is going to fall and near the ceiling it looks like there is material draped to cover the hoarding of God Knows what. I went in several times over 5 months and disappointed every time, each time being told I need their special water, some oil they make there, pushing classes at ridiculous prices. Seemed to be desperate to make money and very insistent like being harassed at a furniture store or car dealership. Random shelves that were dusty with really overpriced food that I have seen elsewhere much cheaper. Creep cases that looked like a scene from a serial killer movie. I saw a random pile of bath towels in a basket? The only good part was classical music playing, but who can enjoy it with the rambling old Guru? As I paid for my meal I looked over the register into the kitchen and it looked filthy. I won't be going back because Zerbos has a very clean store and cafe with everything I need and they are rarely out of things at Zerbos. read more

The food at Treehouse might be tasty, but I would not get involved with any of their other health offerings. I had a very bad experience with Matt after having a couple massages with him. I was talked into buying a bunch of very expensive herbal remedies for my "illnesses" of which I had none. My only experience is with Matt, but he used scare tactics to make a sale. Looking back on this experience I am very glad that I cut the cord when I did! The place is also really dirty and unsanitary looking. I do not recommend. read more

Scary good. We go for lunch every now and then and the food is yummy. All vegetarian. Healthy and delicious. I crave the avocado sandwich on grilled bread. Lots of raw options...like a raw carrot cake! Smoothies and tea and their own bizzaro water system. Shots of wheatgrass that make me feel...I don't know...dizzy and buzzed. It's dark and dusty inside with a tiny cafe area amid herbal remedies and books. They offer massages. It's a weird place tucked into some off the beaten path building. You really, really need to experience it at least once in your life. read more

I have mixed feelings about the Treehouse. As other people posted, the place seems pretty dirty. They do have a great variety of herbs, a lot of which they grow there. I have had a few different experiences with staff. Sometimes they are helpful and knowledgeable, but some staff seem lost and unsure. Most of the time my needs are met, though. I tried the raw pizza last time I was in. It was delicious. The carob cookies are tasty too. I say...give the place a try, but have in mind what you are looking for before you walk through the door. read more

I've been hesitating to write a review because the place is confusing to me. There are some products to buy, but it looks like they've sat there on the shelves for a long time and need to be dusted. I'm not a fan of a place that serves food being dusty. On the other hand, the people are genuine, friendly and are willing to help. The food I had was okay, but the whole time I was eating it, I kept thinking about all the dust. The juice (i think I had the antiviral) was very good. I'd rather do 3.5 stars, but I can't push it to 4. I keep thinking about the creepy taxidermy snake in the eating area. read more

This place is pretty cool. Their Sunday buffet every third Sunday of the month is amazing! Lots of home grown local and organic products. The vegan buffet is amazing it's voted best of Detroit! They have come along way from a few years ago. The menu has expanded & they have repaired a lot inside. The first time I visited The shelves seemed dusty and very spaced out with little product. I recommend at least trying this place out. Ive had mostly 100% great experiences here there was one time the girl didn't have ingredients for the things I was trying to order but when you shop local you have to understand its not a chain location where everything is delivered. I like how even in the winter they try to grow some of their own food. Its a great place to gain knowledge if you are looking to gain insight this is the place to be! I have learned alot just from the handful of times I have been here. I am really looking forward to more classes here. They offer quite a bit of lecture classes that seem quite interesting to take. I have been taking herbal remedies for years. After reading the other reviews on yelp, I decided to drop into the Treehouse. My first reaction..this place is extremely dirty. Why anyone would want to eat in such filth is beyond me. The staff was very cordial but seemed very unsure of themselves in answering any of my questions. They often deferred questions to one another. I tried following up on the phone with them after my visit, always to be told they couldn't talk at the moment. Not once did I ever receive any followup calls from them. My advice stay far away from the treehouse. They do the entire homeopathic community a major disservice. read more

Talk about an organic atmosphere. If you are into wheatgrass shots, carob candy, naturally sweetened cookies, fresh veggie juice or herbal remedies galore this is a good place to go. Hidden in the back of the street (if you past a Zap Zone you're in the right direction) is a homeopathic gem. I came in there with the beginnings of a cold I wanted to rid myself of and was assisted to a book about herbal remedies (find your ailment) and a very helpful store clerk suggested a mix of wheatgrass, carrot, organic lemon juice and some other stuff which she freshly squeezed on the spot. I also like red clover and they carry their teas and herbs in bulk -weighed on a scale at the counter. The drink was so delicious I forgot I drank it to actually help with my cold. Continued on with my errands and the persistent burning throat was gone. I woke up the next morning feeling tip top. It took me half a day to realize that juice did some justice and I found a less than 4 dollar cold remedy that tasted like lemonade. Score! read more

My experience with the Tree House was very positive. I think they are VERY knowledgable. They are always polite and ready to answer your questions. Of course a doctor is not going to agree with anything they say. If you tell your doctor you go there, they will not be happy. Most doctors do not agree with homeopathic or natural healing. What they do there is recommend a healthy diet and lifestyle. Anyone can get better if they follow the diet and recommendations. read more

Well, I went to Treehouse recently and I will say when I walked in I was very unsure. I thought it was a little dirty, and I had the feeling that I didn't want to stay. A friend of mine referred me. She had some health problems and went to numerous doctors that just prescribed her meds that didn't help. She tried Treehouse and got on the diet that was given to her and started taking the organic supplements. Ultimately her symptoms were gone after a few days. So after I saw her success I went. Yes it is dirty but its not the kind of dirty that we would experience if we didn't clean our home. They are very natural and earthly people. They all wear sandals, and seem to believe that we should live the way we did thousands of years ago. You have to understand what their message is to truly appreciate the whole atmosphere. When I saw my results from the Spectra vision I was shocked, it pinpointed my symptoms and since I have changed my diet and started taking the supplements I feel WAY BETTER!! Soooo regardless of how this place may look they know what they are talking about. I was very educated and will continue to go back. And just for the record this place IS NOT A DOCTORS OFFICE, so if your expecting followup calls you wont get them, your health is up to you and you should definitely invest in it. read more
