The 'Black Drink', freshly made of kefir, charcoal & maple syrup
    Jes P.

The Treehouse definitely stands out from any other health food store I've ever been to. It could be the love child of Whole Foods and an Antique Mall. From the outside, it's just a concrete box but they've painted it with bright & cheerful colors. When you step inside, it's a bit on the dark side with a 'science' room to your left and fresh produce to your right. Some of the shelves are empty while others are stocked of handmade soaps, necklaces and essential oils. There is a large shelf reserved just for spices and herbs. To top things off, there is also a library, piano for playing, eating area and space for massage. If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, there are calming crystals all around...., But I don't come here to feel calm, I come for the smoothies. There are several to choose from and the ingredients are always fresh. My favorite is the 'black drink' with kefir which is made in-house, juice, charcoal, maple syrup and honey. The drink is uniquely delicious and not like any other smoothie I've had before. I commend them on their creativity. They also serve fresh salads and several raw dishes. A few Sunday's a month, they hold a raw food buffet. The staff are always helpful and kind so I feel comfortable even among the bizarre posters and pamphlets claiming to have the cure for certain diseases. Farmington never saw such an odd child but I've been going to the Treehouse for 16+ years so I think it is here to stay!

I was sick and got the leprechaun smoothie. Lots of different fruits, plus parsley and wheatgrass and a homemade kefir base

They have a sushi bar (it's not all next to each other so be on the lookout). They have all your regular Asian buffet fare, and it's all super good. The salmon nigiri is unlike anything I have ever seen before in Michigan. The slice is thick, tasty, and fresh. The nigiri is large in size too! There's plenty of seating and I like that the lighting is good. Staff were quick and courteous to seat us and get us taken care of.

They had a variety of Chinese dishes, seafood options, and the usual buffet favorites like fried rice, lo mein, chicken dishes, and desserts. Some items were really good and flavorful, while others were just okay. I felt like a few of the dishes could have been a little fresher, but overall there were enough options to find things I enjoyed. The restaurant itself was fairly clean and the atmosphere was relaxed and casual. It's definitely more of a simple, no-frills buffet spot rather than a fancy dining experience. The dining area was spacious and there was plenty of seating, which made it comfortable. It's a good place if you're looking for something quick and affordable where you can try a variety of foods. The service was decent as well. The staff were polite and came by to clear plates and check on drinks. Nothing over the top, but they did their job and kept things moving. Overall I would say it's about a 3.5 out of 5 experience--not amazing, but still a solid option if you're in the area and in the mood for a buffet with a lot of choices.

The bar was filled with people waiting for to go orders that took almost an hour to fulfill. The people dining in were waiting for 30+minutes, including myself, as a table of two. When people were questioning and complaining (not us), they were reassured the food was in progress and they did not know the hold up. Lack of ownership throughout the entire dining experience. They did not serve me sweet potato muffins, for what is now my fourth visit in a row. They ultimately took it off the check-- obviously. But for the fourth time now, I have not received these so called muffins I'm unsure even exist. XD. the ambiance was chill and I love the set up, there is just no room for overflow. So, people quickly start to pile up, even next to the tables people are actively dining at. I will likely not join the next outing I am invited to here. Good luck, Cornbread.
