First time at this business where the good Yelp reviews were the basis for me coming here. This…read morebusiness is a Barista style operation where they have basically alll the drinks you would expect to see at a coffee shop of this nature. For my first drink here I ended up getting a latte where the espresso was made from organic fresh roasted in house beans. The drink was very well made with the correct ratio of milk to espresso and was creamy, balanced, where the espresso clearly shined through and most importantly the drink was quite tasty. Relative to staff and facility, Joe the owner greeted me as I walked in the door and was very friendly and outgoing where he knew the names of several customers as they walked into the coffee shop. Joes friendly demeanor appears to be one of the strengths of this business, aside from his excellent coffee, as evidenced the return customers that came in during the short period I was in his shop. The facility is quite clean with a nice coffee shop vibe to it. It has a smaller footprint with a limited number of tables for indoor dining where they also sell fresh roasted coffee beans by the bag, some pastries, and prepared food among other things. Overall great coffee at a reasonable price and a friendly owner makes this a shop not to be missed if you in the Novi area. Especially if you are a coffee geek like me.

This is a very…read moreopinionated review, but based on 50 years of lucky access to very fine coffees, and ideally you will consider it more enthusiastic and informed than smug and annoying. We live on the West Coast, were looking for Yemini coffee, and fortunately found Qamaria's website, ordering the Gate of Yemen dark roast. The roast is lighter and less oily than a French roast, as it should be, with some oil in the beans appropriate to something called a dark roast. We would say that Qamaria not only skillfully but more importantly respectfully roasts for the bean. This coffee makes us very happy, with a good dark "round" and balanced aroma to the ground beans and the brew. We made it pour over, but it feels most appropriate to stove top espresso or traditional style. It has a very satisfying long tail. A pour with a plot. A touch of the right kind of bitterness. The bean crushes easily between the fingers and grinds up finer than the espresso blend that we drink pour over (45% French Roast using Columbian beans, 45% Italian Roast using Mexican beans and 10% dark roast using Indonesian beans). Qamaria dark roast makes a pour over cup that is thicker than expected, which we find very satisfying: it's a sort of the character of traditional brewing but in a Chemex. We like the surprising way that a slight, fine sediment sneaks through the pour over paper filters and spreads across the tongue. Next we will move on to other Qamaria roasts and blends, brewing on stove top. The price point kills us, but how does one settle for ordinary to save money, when extraordinary gives such pleasure?

Dear reader,…read more Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea in Novi was a thoroughly lovely stop and exactly the sort of place one hopes to find on a road trip. The staff was super nice, the coffee was excellent, and the whole shop had such a cool atmosphere thanks to all the amazing art around the store. It honestly felt a bit like sitting in an art gallery, only with better caffeine. I got the Triple Mocha Ice Dragon, which was absolutely massive and exactly what I needed. It was essentially a huge mocha frappe with espresso, and I devoured it with alarming speed before enjoying the resulting jolt of energy. It was also the perfect road trip drink to sip on for a while, which made it feel even more worthwhile. Overall, a charming coffee stop and one I would happily return to.

Super divey place, and that's exactly why I tried this one out…read more I needed a cheaper alternative to the other shops I go to. I'm a man who needs large amounts of coffee flavored coffee a lot of the time, and specialty shops charge 4 or 5 bucks for that in a cup that would be classified as medium-sized anywhere else. Sweetwaters has you covered here. Big cups of watered down caffeine, with lesser quality and an unnecessarily hot serving temperature that rapidly becomes tepid. For anything else, keep going to your specialty shop of choice. Frilly drinks aren't that great. Drinkable, but not worth getting. Teas are SUPER strong to the point of tasting artificial. Pastries aren't especially appetizing. Girls behind the counter are sort of weird. Whatever flirt coaching they receive is worse than Starbucks. They also time stamped the bottom of my cup..for yesterday morning's date. Not sure what that's about. You'll save over a dollar on espresso drinks and get one free burnt mouth each. So, mission accomplished. Location: 4* Convenience: 2* Service: 2* Product/quality: 2* Aesthetics: 1*

The coffee is excellent, and the whole place has cozy local coffee shop and bakery vibes without feeling overly franchised like Starbucks. I didn't think anything was outstanding. I like the fact that the donuts weren't overly sweet but still tasty. It was probably the consistency that was not my favorite. I would like to try some of the savory items next time, including the sandwiches. Aesthetically, Paris baguette is nice, it was smaller than I expected, and that is fine. What stood out is the prices for pretty much everything are quite high. Individual items started about four dollars so, if you decide to get a bunch of stuff, it would be cost prohibitive. The person at the counter was pleasant enough. I noticed that the person working was the only one who was customer facing. I did not see any other employees. This can become an issue when that particular one person is making a coffee drink for somebody and it does take a long time to get back to the people in line. That is no fault of that person at all and I understand. Overall, the experience was decent. I will probably give them another try in the near future just to try other items.

They had stationery (e.g. notebooks and cards), Japanese and Korean makeup, a lot of gachapon machines, and other anime merchandise. We had a nice time browsing! The makeup section was a nice surprise. The gachapon is a bit expensive (1 token is like $2 and the machines require like 4 or 5 tokens depending on the toy) but I don't know the going rate for gachapon so maybe that's standard pricing? The drinks area is at the back of the store and there is ample seating to the side. The employee was friendly. I ordered a milk tea which was pleasant, not the best I've had but the price was very reasonable. The tapioca was interesting, irregularly shaped and chewy, and the core was a bit harder than the rest of it. My friend enjoyed her matcha.
