Came here around 11am for brunch. There was a short wait with seating both inside and outside, although the restaurant was super packed by noon when we left. I really like that they had unique offerings like Portuguese sausage. Their orange juice is made with real oranges, although it was a bit too sweet; I'm not sure if it's added sugar or if their oranges were just super ripe, but it was nice to drink instead of processed OJ. We got the chicken fried steak and the AFT to celebrate July 4th (the colors lol). The steak was thin and crunchy. The garlic potatoes were super tasty, and the hash browns were perfectly crispy and thin. For the AFT, you can't go wrong with fruit and simple french toast with syrup. The bread was soft! Red and black with trains everywhere. Not the cliche chrome and leather booth setup. No checkered tile floor and nothing feels cheap. It's loved and you can taste it in the food-- especially their breakfast burrito. It's simple in format: eggs, cheese, potato and a meat of your choice. I always go with linguisa when it's available-- it adds a salty-sweetness to the burrito that I feel elevates the entire experience. There's a side of Trendy's house-made green salsa and sour cream as well. Simple is better. Trust me. The potatoes are country-crisp confit and salty goodness. There's like twelve eggs in the thing which makes me so happy because I feel this is where every establishment gyps its customers. There's like a pound of cheese and then that salsa. Seriously, I could drink that salsa by the gallon. It's ridiculously good. In fact, I felt like there was a high possibility that I could be smote by a bolt of lightning on the way out because I wasted a bit of it getting a picture for you folks on Yelp. On a morning drive from Sacramento to Humboldt, it was determined by my car passengers that Redding would be a great mid-point to stop and get a brunch meal. The diner definitely gives off a small "mom & pop" type old school diner; a countertop, multiple 4-seated tables, and a backroom with more seating (although more cramped). The lady who greeted us was small in stature but had a huge smile along with a personality that could challenge the sun. My choice of meal was the Shroom In Cali omelet (egg whites) and side of biscuit. The omelet was chockful of mushrooms and plenty of melted cheddar cheese; the avocado on top added the perfect balance of a creamy texture. My friend's got other items but their side of pancakes were big enough to cover a manhole and fluffy enough to sleep on. Looking at this place from the outside, you wouldn't expect much at all from a dingy little establishment with a dive-like interior. Wow what an incredible find for breakfast in Redding. Read up on Trendy's on YELP and decided to try it. Inside seating and plenty of space when we arrived. Food was delicious and a very hearty portion for everyone. My hash was good, not piping hot but very good. The hand pressed egg sandwich was delicious too. Our server suggested going with the OJ carafe and what was a great suggestion. The home made jellies and jams are worth trying. The biscuits were huge and I enjoyed my pancake too. I would have loved the veggies and cabbage to have just some simple seasonings like salt and pepper but didn't seem to have that. The salsa on top didn't add much to the taste either. I'm soooo disappointed. I heard that they were under new ownership and you can totally tell. My bacon was over cooked as well as my eggs and my potatoes were not cooked all the way with barely any garlic or herbs. The JAM! We have been here three times now over the past five and a half years since we have moved to Northern California. Now the food.... good but not great. I ordered their chimichurri steak. It's an 8oz ribeye steak. Glad I ordered it medium rare because it came out medium. My wife did a quick search on Yelp so we could get something to eat before leaving Redding. She found this place and we decided to check it out. We arrived about 11am and it did not appear to be very busy. We asked if we could sit outside. There were about 6 tables there with what appeared to be a sort of make shift sun cover to allow them to keep serving during the pandemic. Two of the tables were occupied. We chose a table that allowed for us to also enjoy the sunshine and were provided menus.  My wife ordered the chicken caprese sandwich with onion rings and I ordered the breakfast burrito minus salsa and sour cream. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and looked delicious. During this time many of the tables began filling up as well. My wife went in to use the restroom and said it was very cute inside and looked much bigger on the inside than what we had originally assumed. Nice friendly family spot in a mostly residential area but close to downtown Redding. The food was okay--the house special panko crusted French toast was nice but a bit heavy (I should have known), but my husband's breakfast plate with sausage, eggs and toast was better. Today was our second visit to Trendy's. While the location is not pretty, the food and service more than make up for it. Prices are reasonable and there is more than enough food. The first time we were there, I had chilaquiles special and my husband had the country sausage breakfast with eggs and pancakes. He is picky about both his sausage and his pancakes. The sausage was outstanding and the pancakes light and fluffy. The eggs cooked perfectly to order. My chilaquiles were outstanding as well. Just the right amount of heat. Had I requested it, they would have added even more heat. Today, he had the same breakfast as the first times. I had the corned beef hash breakfast with scrambled eggs And sourdough toast. The corned beef hash is house made and it is sooooo good. I could easily just have that for a meal. And let's not forget their fresh squeezed orange juice! Yum! PS. Their ice tea is brewed to perfection. Not too strong, not too weak and NOT bitter. AND they clearly don't use the coffee maker to brew it. A classic American diner brunch experience. The portions are sizeable and flavors are very familiar. We ordered the chicken fried steak (side of pancake), 2 orders of panko crusted French toast, and the bacon and eggs. We were very pleasantly surprised by the large size of the pancake side (the size of a full dinner plate!). The chicken fried steak was well seasoned, but the potatoes and gravy were both a bit underseasoned. The pancakes were delightfully fluffy and sweet, and the French toast had a great crunch because of the panko crusting. The bacon was pretty average though.
