Had a very unpleasant experience at a nearby restaurant on Midlothian so my friends and I decided to try Tres Machos which was nearby and I must say it was a great decision. I just received an order from here on Uber eats. It was the worst fajitas burrito I've ever had. I ordered the steak, which was so gristlyI had to pick it apart. My fajita portion consisted of the steak and onions, no peppers. The rice was dry and tasted a bit off. The beans were quite spicy but I don't guess they were bad in terms of taste. It's just unlike beans I've had before. The food I just ordered was so bad I threw away half of it. this is the first and last time I will ever get Mexican from this restaurant. There are so many other places that are better I'm really disappointed that I wasted my time and money on this one. read more

We found this place on yelp and picked up some to-go, after driving up from Fla., and found the hostessess to be very helpful. We ordered a burrito San Jose, a tamale and carnitas verses. My burrito was pretty darn good, as were the carnitas, which had one gristly/fatty chunk that we set aside. While we were waiting on our food we sampled some of their homemade ice creams and ended up taking some of the mango-chile and the strawberry-butter home. Everybody loves the strawberry-butter and found the mango-chile "interesting" ... I loved the mango-chile and quickly devoured that sob. read more

Owner is all about pleasing the customer! Servers are decent but may disappear every so often. Food is delicious and they have great specials! They didn't get five stars because of the servers and their guac is very inconsistently made - most often ends up very bland. read more

Hidden in a strip mall off of Midlothian Turnpike, this dark little restaurant is a pleasant surprise. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. We had a fabulous waiter - happy, helpful and he checked in frequently. The food was really good. The chips were good, the salsa and ranch-like dip were spicy and flavorful. All the food tasted fresh and the vegetarian tacos were fabulous!! I have been searching for a vegetarian taco and this didn't disappoint. For the quality of food, the price was very reasonable. Had a standard lunch experience. Good warmed restaurant nachos w/ white and red sauce both eaten in their entirety. Everyone's food came out good. I'm giving 4 stars to Tres Machos. This is definitely one of our favorite Mexican spots in RVA. We live an hour away and sometimes make the trip just to get the food. Because of the pandemic, we haven't been dining in, and that's why I dropped a star. On three occasions when we ordered to go, the portions were lacking and twice the flavor wasn't as it usually was. We also had problems with salsa and our queso not being added to our order. Because of the dish we get (Mocajeta I believe) it's expensive and we add the queso too. Not to mention driving an hour to get it.. so we're expecting top quality every time. And most times it is! The last order a couple weeks ago was great!! Every time we've dined in (pre pandemic) it was great too. Top golf across the street has made it more busy so good luck calling in your order, but that means business is booming so I understand. So one star dropped for lack of consistency and attention to detail, but the food is wonderful when right. The owner was always polite as well. First time we dined in he gave my wife a cool shot glass just as a thanks for trying them out. I would definitely recommend, just check your order if getting takeout. read more

Worth it for the amount of food that you get. The waiters are friendly and our food came out fairly quick. The place was decently clean. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, the food was pretty good but not the best Mexican food that I have had. My recommendation would be the Guacamacho which was delicious. read more

Since we moved from California, we've been looking for good Mexican food. This place comes pretty close to good food. I honestly haven't had a bad meal there. Food is always seasoned well. Other Mexican food in Richmond is under seasoned. I even like the white sauce they serve with the chips, although you never find that sauce in California. read more
