Tres Portrillos is a great option for Authentic Mexican Food in Cleveland. It was quite crowded when we went tonight and parking was a bit tricky. I had the enchiladas supremas. (One chicken, one cheese, one beef and one bean enchilada) I liked the filling for each but I did not care for the sauce. It just tasted like a tomato sauce in my opinion. We enjoyed the mini taco appetizer and loved the chips and queso. Next time, I'm going to try the steak and shrimp dish or the fajitas! read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday. They had ample parking and was spacious inside. The staff was very friendly and attentive to us. They kept checking on us and brought more than enough chips and salsa. The margaritas were good and we enjoyed them after having a long day. The meals came out in a reasonable time and were delicious. The prices are about the same as other Mexican restaurants we go to. We enjoyed talking with family and had a good time. Tres Potrillos is great! This area SORELY needed a good Mexican restaurant, and Tres Potrillos is a new favorite spot of my fiance and me. The location is a bit odd, with the restaurant basically sharing a parking lot with a gas station, but the interior is nice, and roomy. The food is good, the menu is huge, the service is friendly, and when they messed up something about my order on our second visit they brought a regular sized order of guacamole to make up for it. Mediocre Mexican food. Decor is nice and service is prompt. Complimentary salsa and chips are provided. Unfortunately the rest of the food is inconsistent. I had the burrito Azteca in which the (three) shrimp were excellent but the chicken and steak were dry and tasteless, as if boiled. The rest of it was overfilled with bell peppers, of which I was not fond. The three sauces added nothing to flavor. My friend had fish tacos which he seemed to enjoy, although they had a bit too much sauce on them. I might consider going here again purely out of convenient location, but definitely wouldn't seek it out. UPDATE After prior review, the manager contacted me about my concerns and offered us a gift card to return. We came back this week. We would actually rate 3 1/2 stars. The service was excellent and prompt. Complimentary chips and salsa came out promptly. Grilled fish tacos had moist, flavorful fish and fresh vegetables, although tortillas were a bit cold. Mexican rice was well cooked but seemed to be just salted rice. My dining companion had shrimp quesadilla which contained large, well-cooked shrimp, although the overall quesadilla needed doctoring with hot sauce and salsa, which were readily provided. Overall, the service and decor are highlights. Food is a little pricey for what you get. There are definitely some items we would return for and some which are less consistent. I ordered my first meal from here through GrubHub which was easy to do. The prices are fair. I went to pick up my order but my food was not ready. Somehow the restaurant didn't receive my order. A manager quickly handled the situation and my order was hot and ready in 15mins. The hostess at the door was kind as well and apologetic. I ordered the shrimp burrito and a veggie burrito. We've ordered from here multiple times during the pandemic and love it. The food is always great and we've never had an issue with an order. Tonight we placed an order for pickup and when we got home, realized they left out one meal. We called them, and they delivered it within 10 minutes. They were SO accommodating and apologetic, and the driver even refused to accept the tip, even though he drove all the way to Solon to drop it off. Two times in a row, we have had a very negative experience ordering online. Both times, we ordered through the service that they link to on their website and showed up at the time the food was supposed to be ready---only to find out they hadn't even STARTED making the food. Both times, they said they hadn't been looking at the online order system and so didn't even notice that an order was placed. Worse, there was zero apology or acknowledgement of error or mistake. They just shrugged and asked if we wanted a refund or to wait 30 minutes. Part of the issue here seems to be that we used Chownow and not Doordash or Grubhub. But, again, we did that because the restaurant links to Chownow ON THEIR WEBSITE, so it seemed like that's what they wanted people to use. But when we arrived, it turned out they were processing orders from other services but weren't even checking Chownow. But if you're going to have a service, and link to it on your website, it seems like you should probably check it for orders? On top of that, when we got home this last time, we realized the order wasn't even complete. They left out two of the dishes. So, long story short, we had to wait around for 30 minutes at the restaurant for them to cook our online order, and then, when it was ready, it wasn't even complete. I got takeout here and it was overall very good. First off- lime margs to go were AMAZE. I thought they'd be a watered down mess by the time I got home, but was pleasantly surprised at how well they were made. The chips are really really good as is the queso with chorizo. Street tacos were my fave but the carne asada tacos were yummy too. Enchiladas did not travel well so I'll have to try them in house next time. The rice and beans sides were skippable. Im talking three minutes somehow after I ordered, the jalapeños came out and maybe two or three minutes later the fajitas came out. It seems impossible but maybe some of their cooks are psychic and knew I was coming. Either way the food as always (as I've ordered them on door dash numerous times) wad delicious and this being my first time here in person, was exceptionally fresh and the service was immaculate as well. This place was a pleasant surprise. I felt like I died and went to taco heaven. Sure my meal didn't come with rice and beans and I had to order them on the side but I was okay with that. The staff was quick, nice and proactive. The tacos were filling and the presentation was beyond perfect. If you get the chance to have enough room for a dessert definitely make good choices and get the Churro dessert. I've had a lot of churros and these are in my top three best churros. It felt like death by Churro as the strawberry sauce and the whipped cream paired well with the cinnamon and fluffiness of the Churro. Absolutely horrible. The worst dining experience of my life. My sister ordered a raspberry margarita and was served a blackberry margarita. When I questioned this the server assured me it was raspberry. We disagreed because raspberries and blackberries look and taste different. My sister told him she has a blackberry allergy and that's why she ordered raspberry. He went so far as to bring out the berries he muddled for the beverage. They were blackberries. He then tried to google raspberries and say they were the same thing as blackberries!?! We sent the drink back and asked for the check. He told us he didn't know the difference between blackberries and raspberries and to always tell your server if you have an allergy. Sir! Noticeable decline in service! For the very first time, we had a poor experience at Tres Potrillos. A few things, but add them up and it takes away from an enjoyable dining experience: 1. The urinal in the mens restroom does not flush at all 2. Normally they serve chips and salsa when they seat you, but we did not get any at all. We patiently watched as someone seated at the table beside us who immediately received chips, salsa and queso within a minute of sitting down 3. The overhead music was exceptionally loud to the effect we ended up shouting or texting across the table so as to communicate. 4. My flautas were good but made incorrectly 5. One does notice when the knife provided to cut food looks like it was bent severely. I worked as a waiter and dishwasher and wouldn't have let something like this out into service as it looks like it was bent with pliers to be used as a tool for a piece of equipment in the kitchen. 5. To add insult to injury, we asked our waitress why we didn't receive any chips/salsa nor were offered any and she gave a lame excuse that the person who was supposed to bring chips and salsa was on break! Look at the table next to us... Why not just admit the mistake and fix it? A lie is just insulting...a 2-year old would have asked why the other table got them right away as we watched. We left it be, did not have dessert and quickly paid and left. I had flautas, my wife had fajita quesadilla, and my daughter had the taco salad. The food quality was still good (aside from the mistake with the flautas) but the atmosphere and service were so indifferent and lackluster that we wont be back for a long time. Adios! read more

The second time the food was cold- the third time we got seated and forgotten, next to the servers station. I loved my experience here! I came with a party of 11. We were seated downstairs but asked to move and we were immediately accommodated. Our waitress, Rebecca, had a great attitude! I would never return after our experience we had today at lunch. My husband and I ordered the lunch combo. When the food got to us, it was literally cold. My black beans were in a side dish, no seasoning and cold. Looked like they were dumped right out of a can. The beef taco had meat only in it, which I wasn't expecting. I took one bite and didn't like the flavor. My cheese Chile relleno was cold and the pepper was still hard. The cheese was melted but did not look appetizing. My husband's beef Chile relleno was the same...cold and hard. The beef in it was slightly warm on one side and cold everywhere else. We were so disappointed and disgusted. We told the server that it was cold and her response was 'it's not my fault'. We told her we understood that but we were not going to eat the food and we did not want them to remake it. read more
